You are the man, thank you! My belt was fine but I watched so I could learn how remove the brush. I needed access to the clogged lines that had a fuck ton of compacted dust which made the vacuum not work at all and caused the motor to overheat within 3 minutes of turning it on. It's all good now!
Thank you so much! I just bought my vacuum in November and it stopped working in January. I took it apart so many times unclogged it and come to find out watching your video my belt came undone. I’m so mad at myself. I didn’t realize my bristles weren’t spinning. Thank you for saving me from throwing out my perfectly good vacuum!
I had done all of this before and still loose. Couldn't figure out why the tension wheel wasn't engaging properly. Then I found out that the roller won't work with the vacuum upright. if you engage the tilt feature while in carpet mode, it works properly. Been annoyed by this for days before I figured it out. your video was a good one. didn't solve the problem, but it helped me eliminate weird theories I was having.
My Hoover Air has a green button, that if pressed, stops the brush from spinning. I checked the belt and it's fine. I pressed the button and the brush is spinning again.
Removed the brush from my Hoover UH-74200 & throughly cleaned it. Checked/removed belt & it still looks damn near pristine. Put it back together properly, plugged it in & still the brush does not spin a lick. 🤬 Any other suggestions, y’all?
Have you checked to make sure the button left of the base is up? That button engages and disengages the brush so that it’s not spinning when you don’t want it to
Had same problem. It seems the Brush Roll On/Off Pedal Switch does not put enough tension on the belt. I see nothing wrong with the pedal or roller that is attached to it. My "Fix" was to wrap electric tape tightly around the brush roller. Did not count the turns, but seem like 3 or 4 times around. It did not take much. Remember to maintain the curved shape where the belt rides and keep tape tight and wrinkle free. While I have not had may hour running this "Fix", it does seem to be working. Only other option I can think of is a slightly smaller belt. If this "Fix" fails I will explore other belt sizes and post on my findings.
lol seems a lot easier than the shark vacuum i got my parents. Been looking to replace their vacuum with another brand since they dont like how difficult the shark vacuum is to unscrew to get to roller.
Okay, did nobody else know this problem was basically a PEBKAC? The brush wasn't turning because the pedal that stops the brush from moving was depressed. And he fixed it by actually hitting the pedal a second time to reengage the brush.
There was nothing wrong with his belt - he simply had the Brushless switch thrown. I didn't even know my 25 year old vacuum had this setting until I watched this - and I watched it because my brush was not moving. Then I saw the switch had been thrown. Arrrggghhh!
Poifect! I appreciate that your vacuum was dusty and gross like mine. I don't trust repair videos where the equipment looks brand new.

Excellent that was so helpful I found too it wasn't the belt, but a sock stuck in the hoover. All fixed
Wow, thanks for sharing y you our experience.
Thank you so much. You gave me what I needed to believe in myself and fix my vacuum 🙏🏻💕
You are welcome
I likely could have done this job without yoyr video but it took any guess work there may have been away. Thanks!!
I am glad you found the video useful. Thanks for your positive feedback.

Maybe the motor stopped working

Any luck Paul?

I replaced the belt, but the problem stil there?
The motor is probably Burnt
Thank you !!
Mine has two belts in it the little belt is next to the big belt in the little belt is very loose
Some editing would enhance or save time, other than that thanks.
Took me 25yrs to ruin the belt on my old hoover. Took me 25 days to ruin the new one.
How come ? Is it manufacturing issue?

Fixing these parts is not rocket science. I own 3 hoovers. But not sure where the spring goes..
Same here😂
