Kevin thank you so much. This was exactly the problem I had. When we parked it in May all was fine. I took the battery out as it was going to sit until this week. Got back to our home in Florida, put the charged battery in, nothing. Re-did all the connections, battery posts etc. Then I found you video. We have the exact same model. Thank you again

Kevin, really liked this video. Thought it was exactly what I needed! However, my 2000 g16 still has no response when gas pedal is pressed down. Works sometimes but not right. Pedal switch???
Kevin… could you tell me what is causing my 2001 g16 spark plug to foul every week or two?

There is no oil filter on these engines. They are splash lubrication. Engines with a pressure lube system (oil pump) will typically have an internal or spin on oil filter.

Gee Kevin: Don't any body ever blow off the dust on thier carts before they cdome to you?? My cart seems to be doing ok so far (knock on wood) I still haven't fixed my RPM Limiter. Maybe next summer as the weather here in Ohio is starting to be cold & wet. Keep up your video's. ken
Hey Kevin . I’ve got a g16 , no crank , rapid clicking from solenoid and click from relay . Any help would be much appreciated!
That sounds like a weak battery. Charge or replace the battery. Also, make sure the battery posts and terminals are clean and tight.
Just brought my first golf cart, its a yamaha 2k g16 with 301cc. There is an engine oil light indicator on console, (while I am awaiting service n owners manual) is there an oil sending unit?
The oil sender is located on the back side of the engine. It just senses oil, its not a pressure sender. These engines are splash lubrication (finger on the connecting rod that "splashes" oil everywhere), not pressure lube (no oil pump).

What is the right battery?
Yamaha uses a Group 24 battery.

A group 24 is an automotive battery.
How would I be able to start the cart with no key I got a 2004
You would have to access the key switch and jump the wires.
Hi Kevin, what kind of oil did you use and how much does it take?
These engines hold 1 us quart. I use conventional 10w30.
@@Kevinsgolfcarts Thanks. Your channel has been so helpful to me, I can’t thank you enough. I never used to feel comfortable doing my own mechanical work but because of your videos I have rebuild my clutch (replaced the rollers), cleaned the carb, replaced a carb, replaced fuel pump, etc.. My 1998 Yamaha G16A has been running great. My only concern is that when I bought it, I didn’t realize that it had a cracked gear case in the back (previous owner must of hit a rock). It left a decent crack with a pin size hole that allowed the gear lube to leak out. I ended up hearing a whine while driving and that’s how I realized the issue that there was no gear oil. I cleaned the location with carb cleaner, roughed it up a bit with a steel brush, and then patched the crack/hole with JB Weld (with the understand that I couldn’t hear weld the case). I added a layer, let it sit a week, added another layer, let it sit another week, and then added new gear oil. I’m hoping that because it’s not a moving part and there’s no air pressure in the crank case that it will hold for the rest of the cart’s life. I understand this is a gamble but I figured worth a shot rather than paying for a replacement case. You think I’ll be ok?
What oil do u use?
10W30 conventional.
