  • DIY Golf Cart shows how simple it is to replace the Yamaha G16, G19, G22, and G29 "The Drive" ignition relay stop switch. This small part works with your accelerator on your gas golf cart. A faulty switch will result in your cart not performing. Please subscribe to our You Tube channel for other popular videos showing the installation of parts and accessories for golf carts.

I had a problem with my 2011 Yamaha gas cart. Thought it solenoid or battery. Battery was old anyway 5-6 yrs. New Battery, helped some. But after checking. Found it highly possible the gas petal solenoid switch was hanging up and not kicking in on the solenoid . Before I spend $$ on switch I removed and rolled back the rubber boot and sprayed blaster and worked the switch for about 10 times. While I was working on that I also adjusted the gas cable there at the petal about 2 rounds. To give a little quicker response when pressing the petal. Tightened it up and replaced the stop switch. Everything at this point seems to be running much better. If the switch starts to hesitate again, I'll purchase a new one at that time.

1st of all, thank you for your videos as they have helped me tremendously.
2nd I have a G29 gas cart that will intermittently turn over. Sometimes you have to hit the pedal a few times or hold it down before the starter engages. After getting it started and going for a ride the battery would die fairly quickly. I just put in a new battery and it still hesitates to start and sometimes won't until I come back another time and try it again. I've checked the ground at the battery and they are good. Any ideas what my problem could be?
3rd Thank you for your time and again for your videos.

Finding your videos really useful, Just bought a 2008 Golf Utility vehicle G23A with a Yamaha tipper rear, my intention is to convert this to a Golf buggy with Bag retaining frame. From the 300 miles journey from where I bought it to my place, the Air filter lid has fallen off, I looked online for a replacement but these are just shy of $100! that's a lot to me. I am in the UK and most parts new through EBay are also including Tax and postage making the lid over $180 which seems out of my reach. I wondered if there is a used forum for such parts? or if you know an alternative to my problem, I also only have ONE of the spring clips to hold the lid on - really wish the seller had put it in the bag with the other loose bits :( One other point, it does look like the chasis is longer than the golf cart chasis, If I replace the cowling (assuming I can find one) do I need to start cutting and welding the frame, if so where? Regards
    Chris

I have what i believe to be a Yamaha G2. It turns over with the key but no spark. If i put 12 volts directly to the starter relay coil it does however start. I have checked the key, pedal switch and low oil sensor and all seem to be working fine. Could this relay stop switch be the issue? Thanks in advance

I have a 2002 G22a gas burner that will not shutdown when I lock the brake pedal down. If the engine is cold it will eventually lope along and shutdown. If it’s warm I have to pull the spark plug or hold down the brake pedal and pump the accelerator until it floods out (I guess). I have changed every part out i can think. A trouble shooting video would be cool. Thanks in advance.

Thank you for the videos! I've watched a few already this morning and they've been great. I have a 2011 G29 Gas that won't stay running after it warms up. Starts fine and seems to have plenty of power when it's cold, but as soon as the motor starts to get warm it loses power and chokes out. If we let it sit for a few minutes to cool down it will run again for another minute or so then sputter and die again. Thoughts? Cart has no modifications done to it.

The issue i am having is that when i put for down on the accelerator pedal there is a lengthy delay before the cart actually starts to move. This seems to get worse the warmer the motor gets. Two things that could be the culprit, weak battery or worn brushes in the starter generator. Check the voltage of the battery while trying to start the golf car and make sure it doesn't drop below around 11.5 volts. Then using a air hose, try blowing the starter out by removing the rubber plugs on the backside. If that doesn't help, change the brushes.
