You forgot, the Gnome also appeared in Dead by Daylight as a charm and interactable item during some event a long time ago. Every now and then, a gnome would spawn on the map and if a survivor or killer destroyed it, they would unlock the Gnome charm.
They had to destroy it as a survivor and escape to unlock the charm. That was the easiest way. Plus he only spawned in end game collapse. I got my gnome and regret nothing

It is definitely a good feeling when you finally do it because just last week I spent a whole day (because of both crashes and a child having access to other people’s Bluetooth devices) managed to bring gnome chmpski to the helicopter at the end of dark carnival
It may also be worth mentioning that according to the wiki, the achievements may be based on the travelling gnome prank, where people steal others' garden gnomes and take pictures of them in various exotic locations before returning the gnome to its original place with the pictures
I haven't seen him criticize american foreign policy or the implicit bias and the insidious Influence of private actors in the american media landscape either.
You forgot to mention that Gnome Chompski also makes a cameo in L4D2’s The Last Stand. He’s hidden in the finale and can only be seen from a specific position with a sniper scope, or with noclip.
Chompski also kind of made a recent unofficial appearance in PAYDAY 2. One of the recent achievements in the game is to bring a Garden Gnome all the way to the escape chopper in a new dlc heist.

When companies design rockets, they launch a solid metal or plastic cube into space to make sure it works. Sometimes they ask people to replace the cube with something fun because the shape doesnt matter, only the weight. Valve offered the garden gnome. Valve did not explicitly commission the rocket to launch the gnome
It's also worth noting that Chompski has inspired quite a few L4D2 modders to do some cool things with him in their custom campaigns. Several of them recreate the gnome odyssey with an added bonus area as a reward/"easter egg" for getting him to a certain point (People not in the know should look up the custom campaigns "Suicide Blitz 2" and "Redemption 2" to see some particularly stellar examples), as well as some that think of some ingenious ways to use him in the vein of the official mutations (I can't find it again but there was also one where you took the gnome along but he had superpowers when you shot special companion cubes and talked in a squeaky voice).
