I would delete the character’s legs so they would glide around on the floor, then I’d make the prop a hat worn by the player. Prop Hunt is probably one of the best hide-and-seek gamemodes to ever exist in video game history, the idea of becoming the object itself to hide is truly unbeatable
@@EngiGODS358I haven't yet but clicked to save it in my history to remember (I'm currently working). But after reading that, it saddens me (is that even a word?).
I've always been a fan of hide-n-seek gamemodes since I first played derivatives in various Minecraft minigame servers (Hive's "Block Hunt" and Hypixel's "Farm Hunt" were two I particularly enjoyed as a youngster), and I fondly remember a "jetpack trick" you could use with the Flamethrower in the TF2 rendition of the game mode. One part of the video I felt was a bit sloppy was the section on Fortnite. So here's a bit of clarification on prop-hunting in Fortnite: First off, the overwhelming majority Fortnite's custom game modes are community-made (the only official ones are Battle Royale, Save The World, Festival, Rocket Royale, and LEGO Fortnite). So the modes you looked at are just as unofficial as the custom servers back in the day. The item featured in community-made maps/gamemodes was added in mid-2019, the Prop-o-Matic, and was designed specifically for prophunt-type gamemodes to be made by players. That being said, Epic Games *has* included some prop-hiding items in the past to the Battle Royale mode that actually work quite well in gameplay (and I have actually seen them be useful in combat, and dying to it at least once this month alone). I've listed them in chronological order of being added for convenience. - The oldest example of a Fortnite integration of hiding as an object comes from the game's first season, with the Bush equippable. This item was present throughout the entirety of Chapter 1, and unlike future props, you could actually shoot back whilst hiding in it! It also blended in extremely well with the smaller and more vibrant bushes the C1 map had to offer, which is probably why they vaulted it in Chapter 2 (due to the island's foliage becoming more subdued in colour and also larger). It did make a brief return in November 2023 for the OG season. - A couple of items exist that let you throw down props and hide in them, and also walk around wearing them. Two that come to mind are the Creepin' Cardboard and the Sneaky Snowmando, both of which act in the exact same way and were both added during 2020. - NPCs on the map (first introduced in C2S5 in late 2020) can sell you items like heals and weapons for gold bars (obtained by looting containers, killing players, and completing bounties), and some offer special services. Some of these include more combat-oriented support like hiring them as a teammate, but the one concerning the video is the "Prop Disguise" some can sell. For 250 bars, you can be turned into a prop - some wackier props include Slurp Juice barrels, a small bouncy pile of tyres, and a mailbox. I recently died to someone using the mailbox in a junk-filled area (when I myself let my guard down trying to buy a prop disguise myself lol), and I found it hilarious, just like the old Prop Hunt days. - For a brief period in 2021 (during C2S7), an item that let you actually select what prop to use in BR was added - the Prop-ifier from C2S7. It let you pick from some wacky props again, like a gnome statue, a toilet, or a traffic cone (among others). It only lived for a month, though. Hope this clears stuff up regarding how Epic Games is involved in this saga featuring the iconic formula of hiding-and-seeking-with-funny-inanimate-objects. :)

Prop Hunt was my first big gaming obsession when I got Steam way back in 2014. I racked up a good 1400 hours in Gmod by becoming part of a community that would build, for a time, *THE* most popular Prop Hunt server in Australia from 2015-2016. It was a grand old time.
Yes, thank you for this video. Playing hide and seek in counter-strike Source was my childhood. In case anyone is interested in what it was like; hide and seek wasn't a game mode or a map so you could only find a server by the title of the server so it could take a long time to find a good one. Once you got in you got a menu to the left where you could pick a huge number of items to hide as. Typically these servers were french or german so you more or less had to guess what to pick from the list. It worked just like prophunt where ct were the hunters and t were the props. I honestly miss those days sometimes but I'm happy that hide and seek ended up being so infinitely popular.
Black ops 3 also had prophunt which came out in 2015 people would jump into random wallruns and freeze them selves so you would always need to search random tops of walls
It's crazy to see how popular prop hunt got and for a good reason it's a good game mode and I'm happy that it did because it's a game I enjoyed and loved playing it in different games like cod surprisingly but it's also in overwatch now.
I have no idea why, but I find myself thinking about old source mods like Suicide Survival, Zombie Panic Source, The Hidden Source and many others on a monthly basis. The nostalgia was strong with Prop Hunt too.
Man, now I feel old. I have such great memories of Prop Hunt and many other gmod gamemodes, but I started playing gmod before version 10 (I think I started at v8) and slowly stopped playing shortly after 13, but kept watching on yt for a bit. So before it all went super viral. fascinating to see where it went after that.

I am almost 18 and plan on being a youtuber, just as a hobby, and noting how actually young you are when you mentioned you were negative six, I'm inspired to possibly be able to do what you do in only 2 short years
There was also a pretty big prop hunt scene on the major minecraft mini-game servers, thinking particularly of Mineplex's Block Hunt. Besides blocks, you could also be mobs, and you even choose classes that gave you different abilities. Just wanted to say that, depending on the type of game you are making to work as both prop hunt and whatever multiplayer mode you have, modes like prop hunt are a great way to teach players maps. It makes players pay attention to level geometry, prop placement, and the nooks and crannies of areas.

who really asked tho? he's talking about prophunt, not about native americans going to space and then have the old guy become a god and shit. good riddance that beth just made a completely different game with the ip name
Dark Souls 2 and 3 also had an official prop hunt mode, well not really a mode but rather there's an item that allowed you to turn into a prop which was super handy to not only hide from player invaders but to also observe what they had equipped.
I had a friend named Laura that never had a bit of interest in PC gaming, neither casual nor otherwise, until she heard about Prop hunt during the rise of popularity and had me setting up her steam profile, getting gmod and both of the necessary valve games, including counterstrike, so she didn't have missing texture files just because she said she wants to play prop hunt with me....
