Doc designs a simple, clean and blocky under skirting for the new deck. Trying to follow the "farm house" of craftsman theme the old lattice trick would look cheap.
The deck looks great! I recommend puting some sot of mesh beh8nd 5he verticle bords and blocking off the exposed lower area. If you don't you'll have critters setting up home underneath the deck. Ask me how I know...skunks suck!!
so you'll have moldy mud most of the time under that deck. Leaves and pine needles will eventually find there way in there too. A varmint could die in there too. Why don't you complete detach it from the house since you added the support from the ground, and leave a couple inch gap between the house and the deck. that will eliminate any rotting. i'd leave it completely open, pour concrete sloped slab under it sloping away from the house, just a gentle slope.
The house looks great doc, nice job!

Wood walkway would look awesome
I think I would have decked the entire length of the house
Looks good Doc
Nice look !! Maybe add an outlet or two somewhere on the deck before boxing it in. It’s about time for a fishing video , just a reminder !😂
Great video.
Love it, thinking about doing this around my mobile home, I'd save money I have the wood.:)
1st looks good
Build a fence door on the backside with hinges.
Thanks Doc
You might want to grade under that deck before you close it in....don't want pooled water and mosquitoes.....but I am sure you knew that!
