But even the simplest houses can be cozy and have curb appeal if you take care of them. You completely revamped this house and I think it looks awesome. There is something so satisfying watching someone turn a house in shambles to sprucing it up. This is amazing.

Me & my husband bought a “crack” house back in 1989 , we assumed a mortgage with $3500 savings and our house payment was $385 including taxes & insurance. We owed $18,000 on a $50,000 home. The windows were sprayed painted black . He did all the skilled labor and I helped with sweat labor & design. A lot was done before we moved in to make it livable but we did the bathroom , kitchen and utility room the first year .We sold it 5 years later and walked away with $53,000 for the down payment on our 5 bedroom family home. The family who bought it loved it and raised their children there. I still drive by from time to time. Worked so hard on house number 2 too! LOL Long story short I am on house #5 and it is all out my system LOL staying put and this home is the official homestead for me ❤ You made this place amazing!! TYFS

NO. Not only are "young couples" buying old charm homes and stripping them of character but theyre also doing them without professional help or hiring out for cheap and doing shit jobs of renos. So many homes that had potential have been ruined because people come in looking to make a profit and because they arent going to live there themselves they dont care about the quality of work done.

Nearly 40 years ago my father, with the assistance of friends and brothers who had experience in construction, cabinetry, and electrical among other things built our ranch home from the ground up. The care and dedication they put into their work resulted in a home that is STILL appraised higher than other homes of the same style simply for the thought they put into the process. When you are struggling and you value anything that comes your way, you will practically live with any situation, until you can get it fixed. People who do not know what it feels like to really struggle have no idea of the concept of valuing…everything that comes your way, no matter how it looks.
I would have lived in this house just the way it was. You made it look beautiful. People who leave negative comments hate themselves and their life, that’s why they behave like bullies.

I took a class inbuilding a shed which we actually built. It was all from scratch and nothing prefab. We went to Lowes in the contracter section and learned how to order proberly determined amounts of paint, lumber, siding, faseners, etc. Your video made it all look simple because you are a young expert who like all great carpenters, are ethical, precise, creative, daring, resourceful, amble and able, sure footed, coordinated, determined, consistent and willing to admit what didn't work well, how you would do things differently and the willingness to learn about new techniques and tools and equiptment. Your video was enlightening, instructive, refreshing, entertaining and very much appreciated. If there was one thing I would tell others when informing them about this video it would be this. "He explains everything and he admits what did not work and why it did not work and what he would have done differently. Plus he identifies each tool and material and it's use." Great job! Thank you.💜

The last house I bought was number 50 for me. I would buy them, remodel and then flip. When I had enough money I would keep one. Preferably the smaller ones. 12 years later I have 8 that were from profits. I’m 63 years old and these will make big difference for my retirement. That said I still love it when I see someone like you who tackles what is needed. You are a builder, an architect, an engineer, etc. My hat is off to you my man.

    One. It’s beautiful!
Two. Don’t ever try to get away without a permit. It’s a nightmare when they find you.
And it’s the nicest house in the neighborhood

We've done restoration 9 yrs ago I loved every bit of it today we enjoy what we invested in it! and it is our retirement home cannot tolerate lazy people!!! If they only new how much satisfaction it gives they will start doing it and also you learn so much from it where if you never tried you don't know what you we're missing.

Very nice job! House looks great. I’ve done 4 houses now, started at 50 years old, never intended to, but life circumstances brought me to do them. If I can do it at 50 and I’m a female, a young kid can do this. I think men are born with a knowledge of building that women don’t have, it takes me a bit longer but the houses are beautiful after. Yes the neighbors are grateful.

If you feel you're missing some building knowledge, okay, but there's no need to say all women are like that. We aren't. Good for you with your renos!

The house was never ugly. Yes it was in disrepair at first. But after that it was just plain. And plain is not a synonym of ugly.

It looks much better! The thing that would make the most difference now is longer windows across the front. Those short windows are what they put in trailers. Longer ones would look much better. Just a thought…🤗🐝❤️

Good job. Maybe consider flower boxes with longer shutters to make the windows look bigger. A wider front porch might have made the house look more comfy. My friend said taller bushes under the windows. You did a great transformation, and I applaud you.

I built a similar porch cover on my house. I lined it up so to have a L shaped gutter on both sides rather than need 2 short down spouts. As my door faces west and gets direct sun, I wanted this covered porch to provide shade as well as curb appeal. To that end, I enclosed the triangle in the front and finished with a regular flat ceiling. For visual balance, I poured a new porch to match the cover's footprint and built a wooden railing. I've gotten a lot of compliments over the years and several neighbors have covered their own porches since then. Several have relocated their porch light from the side of the door to the new porch ceiling. In hindsight, I wish I'd done that as well.
