Good job. I would suggest using deck screws to secure the lattice instead of nails because you never know when you might have to remove the lattice panels to perform some work under the deck.
Wear eye protection my friend! My father is an ophthalmologist and he has seen way too many eye injuries. Even deceptively small injuries can leave you blind; don't risk it! Love the content.
That is why I had to give this vid a thumbs down. I thought it had some nice tips, not overdone or over explained. But we need to see the job through t he very end.
This looks like the way I do jobs at home. Make a few stair stringers, go up and fasten some spindles, oooh squirrel, let's do some lattice. Haha! I'm sure you have a method. For me, I just get bored easy. :)
Because I didn’t want to go all the way back to finish up 2 hours of work. Also, I had to build another the following day. Thanks for watching and thanks for the question. Please subscribe you haven’t already done so John.
If you live in a cold climate. You need to leave room for expansion from frost. If your deck footers are below frost line the deck won't move, but that 2x4 frame he installed touching the ground will.
The days of hard working men willing to get their hands dirty and for a fair price are over. I'm a woman and it is so hard to find handyman I tend to do everything myself unfortunately but fortunately.
Its that "for a fair price" bit that's to blame. You see, most people want to lowball skilled workers. And alot of women think they should get work done at cost, just because they're women.. HA! If so, GET A HUSBAND.. if not, pay my wage. This isn't 1950.
@@jimmyraysorrells8415 i totally agree. My point exactly. If more men married women and STAYED married and were real men around the home ( and vice versa women played their role) I would not need a handyman as much. Times have changed. Men and women are not doing their part as a Team and when both go solo you have women that have to pay people like you tons of money and men ( maybe not you but like you) that have to eat single man sandwiches or find a woman they can shack up with that will do all the wife stuff

No bolts holding those post to the beam supported buy a two x four attached to the post. Even at the building. WoW no bolts holding platform to posts either, must be some real strong glue being used with those nails. Only kidding.
Thank you for all the tips and sharing your expertise. Well Done!

Would you drill a pilot hole with the screws?
This was an excellent video! I learned how to do it right! Much better than slapping something up poorly, like the job I have to replace. Thank you!

Yes, but he had a great safety squint going on!
@@wheeldealrepeat3698 I totally noticed that. lol
LOL! YOU must be A Liberal aren’t yoy?
UA-cam is terrible for DIY because no one, not even the pros, follow basic safety protocols.
@@yinglemamalet's own the libs by going blind! That'll show em. Hey, save me some lead paint chips so I can end up like you some day!
Excellent job. It looks great . Thanks for sharing your video. Watching with full support from Canada 🇨🇦.
Enjoyed the video. Looking forward to watching your next project snd helping hints
Thank you for making this video. I'm trying to skirt my deck and your video is easy to follow.
Thank. Little tips about adjusting lattice like ‘accordion’ helpful. How do you deal with slanted areas near steps? Uneven slope?
Dig a trench
Should the 2x4 on the ground be “treated”?
Does that matter?
Yes, any wood outside should be treated and they’re 3 1/2 inch screws.
I would have liked to have seen the final product with the 1X4s in place.

Expension contraction will bump the lattice
This was not me....I live in Korea!

Is there a reason the lattice on the front are in installed in different directions ?
The bottom 2-3 feet of siding is soffit...why!?
Are you using DeWalt tools, it looks like they are and where did you get a XL battery I guess and if so, about how long does it last
Wow 17K VIEWS congratulations!
How crucial is it to staple if you are also framing with studs?
Do you use stainless steel staples?
I know this is an old video but….dude…you didn’t show the final step
Are you using 3 inch or 3&1/2 inch screws ?
Why are you doing this in the rain?
Because I didn’t want to go all the way back to finish up 2 hours of work. Also, I had to build another the following day. Thanks for watching and thanks for the question. Please subscribe you haven’t already done so John.
Why not ? He won’t have to do it on a nice hot day now lol. Just rain, plus he’s covered

Expand which way?
where your safety glasses cutting . i've had staple come up get my glasses and stick into forehead needing needle nose to pull it out.
Ouch!!
Bruh! You gotta show the finished product with the 1x on the seams.

I can’t give away all my instructions on one video Emanon, I have to save some instructions for another deck. Shhhh!
FYI watchers screw the top board on from the back so they don’t show and use a 1x6 this technique is over kill
Why aren't you wearing safety goggles ?
Cause he's not a pussy like u
Production Manager: We can't film today, it's raining.
Steven: I'm AmeriCAN not AmeriCAN'T...GET ER DONE..!!
Nice
Who needs safety glasses? :)
Great job with the vid. The deck you’re working on was built horribly.
Helpful, but please wear some eye protection. You're setting a lousy example.
The soffit was on the trailer that I’m connecting the deck to.
