Q&A w/ Irene, Seth, & Janice. Special focus on healing early & developmental trauma

  • This special Q&A is an important one! It was focused on what is early and developmental trauma, what it takes to heal it, and how the SmartBody SmartMind curriculum is suited for many looking to heal these early trauma wounds. It was recorded live on Zoom with Irene, her husband and colleague Seth Lyon, and colleague Janice Castelbaum on February 19, 2023.
    As a pure definition, this is what early and developmental trauma is:
    Relational wounds and ruptures in safety that occur during early life and during important developmental stages. Early trauma is generally thought of as In Utero - 3 yrs old. Developmental trauma could include teenage years as well. Essentially early and developmental trauma means not getting enough of the good stuff, and also sometimes getting bad stuff on top of that.

    great video as usual, just wanted to add about EMDR and other therapies. I had it done when my system was in a full panic and anxiety state and like you say, it didn’t stick and even my therapist didn’t know what was going on. He sad he doesn’t know how to help me. I heard that a lot, from psychiatrist and energy healers.However now I know it was my autonomic nervous system and because non of those good willing people knew about it, they couldn’t help me. Thankfully after 7 years of living in a chaos I started 21 day nervous system tune-up and then Smart Body Smart Mind. Now I am on my way to regulate and heal and even though its still challenging because of the huge amount of traumas I had, I have hope and everyday my capacity grows. Thank you isn’t enough but thank you for this program and information Irene and Seth.❤❤❤

      @@IreneLyon I’m looking forward to my 3rd round 🥰I will always take time to support and promote this work as it is life saving. Before Irene no one has told us what it means to live in the body we have. How to move, feel and express. We have been looking at it as a car that we just drive and go. We couldn’t fix it alone and always needed to depend on a Technican to fix it for us if it brakes.With this knowledge you are your own saver and that brings freedom and independence. You’ll also will see others through the lenses of the nervous system rather then judging and blaming so we need everyone to know about this so that we can live as a collective and not fragmented human species.

    This is terrific--as always--thank you. One correction about non-native EMFs and earthing/grounding. Seth said that earthing (your bare feet on the grass) [or grounding--using grounding devices indoors]) is about "discharging the build-up of electrons" from exposure to nnEMFs. Earthing and grounding is actually about collecting more electrons from the negatively charged earth's surface, to help mitigate the loss of electrons when our bodies are exposed to the disruptive energy of light waves from nnEMFs. Electrons are essential for the health of our mitochondria and the flow of energy through our fascia and other structures on the "quantum" level. Irene has done a couple of interviews with expert Carrie Bennett on related topics, if you search UA-cam for their names together, and I also recommend Carrie's online classes for further information specifically about mitrochondrial health and earthing/grounding.

      Sean McLaren, I think may of us feel that way about this work, that we wished we’d found it long ago. Irene’s 21 Day Tune Up course can be a great place to start if that’s an option financially. She also offers recordings of past Drop In classes for $19 USD, in addition to her many free resources. I’ll share some links in case you’d like to check them out.

Every fiber in my body says Yes! but my budget says Nope! I'll couple my creativity with the free resources and perhaps a drop-in-class or two and see where it takes me. I've come far on my own and with some good help along the way like doing Feldenkrais for 3 years. My body knows what it needs and I've become better at listening to it.

    This video really resonates with my body and my own healing journey. Recently sat in a 2 day seminar with clinical psychologists who only use CBT and EDMR and my body worked through some extreme shock of not being seen and heard. Is any of this available to those who don't have eniugh financial resource? I support people who have capacity but not enough funds to access such things as this course but I know would support them. Thank you for all you all bring in this video ❤️

    Absolutely LOVED Janice's definitions of intention and attention! Also, discussion of the jaw.
    I just found you about 2 weeks ago, and I have done the heart meditation numerous times and free orienting exercises. I am finding the orienting to be really difficult, because when I do them I often experience disgust for my environment. I am currently not in my own home and I don't resonate with the land around me (thank you for the view of the ocean you provided in one of your orienting videos!!!!) My thinking is that I will need to accept where I am in order to move forward effectively - and move back to the water. Is it helpful for me to acknowledge the disgust for my environment that I feel when I attempt to orient?

    Irene, is there a way to process all this by oneself?
    I have no one in my life capable of supporting me into my healing journey.
    I’ve been abused as a child and from there I became the ‘hero’ archetype and been the one for everyone. My health is failing and I’m just 32.
    The people in my life are very oblivious to my CPTSD and I’m struggling with this alone. I’m microdosing and this tingling and terrifying energy pops up I don’t feel safe calling anyone or being with anyone in this state..

    Irene - or team - could you please answer a question?
    I wonder if you have heard about Anna Lembke? She is highly specialized in dopamine research and have gone viral the last year. She doesn't even mention trauma but claims most people she treat with anxiety, insomnia, all sorts of addictions, depression, adhd etc get well by regulating dopamine.
    See, this is so confusing. Listening to great experts that thinks their field is what will make most benefit to implement.
    What would you say about her work/research/approach and could it be that you guys also believe your method to be more over all beneficial than it is? I mean, the human being is really complex and multileveled.
    As always, thanks for great videos.

    • @IreneLyon
      @IreneLyon  Рік тому +2

      Hi Mika El. Seth here with Team Lyon. Sorry, no I haven't heard of her, but I think I understand the approach. The thing is, when our nervous system is regulated, IT regulates our dopamine levels. I don't know what her methodology is, though I can certainly imagine that bringing in external interventions of various kinds to regulate the dopamine could produce good, short-term results, but without addressing the dysregulation, I'm not sure how it would stick. I imagine one would have to keep on receiving the intervention. Another way to looks at is this - the electrical system is more primary than the chemical system, it is what drives the chemical system, so we really want to work at that nervous system level so that we can simply be regulated without having to 'do' anything at all. AND that being said, there can be great benefit to a multi-level approach. The nervous system work isn't everything, it's just the most foundational.

    • @M-i-k-a-e-l
      @M-i-k-a-e-l Рік тому

      @@IreneLyon Appreciate your effort to answer, thank you very much Seth.I get your point, although I think it is a bit simplified to call the electrical/nervous system most foundational, since it is so very complex and consists of many subtle levels of which the nervous system is the most physical of it. However, I really get your point and totally agree that this level is one of the cornerstones. Look forward to learn more.

    If you don’t dive deep into emotions then you will not resolve anything what you do is managing it, I agree you need to build up capacity but really if people will not allow overwhelming emotions there is no healing, how do I know I do it now for 8 years, and I feel I just started, average person will have lots of pain that will need hours of sitting with it and crying about it, and it will take years to break belief system that block accessing those deep emotions.

    The only true connection I have ever had is with god almighty. Everything else was a trauma bond and it was extremely painful to wake up to that fact….
    If awful to wake up and realise that you have never been loved your entire life which means you wouldn’t have been able to truly love another person and have potentially added trauma down to your children.
    The journey home to divine love is not always easy here as I feel we all have some trauma from our childhoods. 🙏💙

I experienced anti-semitism very directly and was often exposed to threatening social and cultural racist expressions toward people of color and Jewish background.
