  • "It never lasts, and maybe that's the point."
This cinematic short film was shot on a Fuji Film X-H1. All of the footage is straight out of camera, except for one shot where I decreased the saturation. (Can you tell which one?)
The primary lens was a Zhongyi Optics Mitakon Speedmaster (the photography version, which is currently my favorite filmmaking lens - though they DO make a cinema lens version I want to try - ‪@zyoptics9946‬ please send me this lens) and I think I used a Fujinon XF 23 1.4 for the portrait shots.
I'm currently looking to move into making longer films. Getting captivating footage is Over 9000% easier when you have other people. (Sometimes.) Please contact me if you're interested.
Also hit me up if you'd like me to shoot your project! I'm available for hire.

Glory to God! Thank you so much! I was just checking out more of your channel, and the footage you're shooting with the BMPCC delivers! Is that your main camera?

Continued to be impressed with your filmmaking. The visuals, narration, top notch. How happy are you with the Fuji XH1 for filmmaking? Is this the filmmaking camera I am looking for, or do we look for another?

@@SynthesizerPlanet Well, I'll try to sum up what I find to be the drawbacks, and "limitations." The most obvious is that if you're working with a team, or on larger budget projects, the XH1 may not be a good choice for technical reasons that relate to what you can do with the footage in post. For independent filmmakers, the biggst drawbacks are: 1.) battery life - not very good. 2.) no built in nd filters - not surprising seeing as how it's a "hybrid" mirrorless camera, nevertheless, a drawback for a dedicated filmmaker. 3.) the ibis/camera (I'm not sure if it's due to the ibis, or some other feature of the camera) does this thing I can only describe as a "catch up." Like it's one quick jerk motion where the frame "catches up," and it can noticeable. 4.) Autofocus - if you need autofocus, you probably won't be impressed. Now! The things I very much like, in no particular order - 1.) the color straight out of camera - if you expose your image well, the footage looks beautiful, no grading needed. 2.) The form factor - the camera layout is very clean and useful, making it easy to adjust settings on-the-fly. 3.) Low light (for video) - I can't explain it (if you research the way the Fuji sensors work, you can find a video that can explain it so it makes sense), but the images shot in low light, still look gorgeous, even if you push the ISO. I've actually tried to put myself in scenarios where I needed to push, just to have a chance to test it. To be fair - I've never used another mirrorless camera for my video. I really want to try an XH2S, and a Sony FX series, and I very much like the look of Blackmagic camera footage. My video "The Beautiful Sorrow of Being Hidden," is kind of a display of XH1 video - it's all straight out of camera. Thanks so much for watching!

@@nigelianzamora Thanks so much for your observations, I really appreciate you giving of your time to do so. I have a Fuji xPro1 & 2, EX2, and X100s & f, with a number of lenses. Was looking to add a body for documentary/cinematic video. Your work with the XH1 definitely caught my eye. Am considering the Fuji xs20 or possibly the Sony a6700. Seems like I could save some $ and get an XH1. The XH2s looks great, just not sure I want to spend $2,400. Really like your work on UA-cam.
