- Опубліковано 10 чер 2024
- No matter which way you look at it, Stevie Wonder is a musical magician. His mastery of melody, harmony, rhythm, chords and everything else in between is on a level beyond many musicians’ understanding. So how can you capture a little bit of Stevie’s magic for yourself? Well in this lesson, Ayla Tesler-Mabe adapts his keyboard-based approach to chords to the guitar. Specifically, we’ll be looking at one of the most important chord progressions in jazz, the 2-5-1 progression.

About Ayla Tesler-Mabe:
Ayla has been making waves in the world of guitar playing as a professional guitarist, vocalist, multi-instrumentalist and composer, since the early age of 14. After only been playing for two years, her first UA-cam video (a rendition of John Mayall’s “Hideaway”) put her on the map and kickstarted her music career. She has since been featured in Rolling Stone magazine, become a member of the Ernie Ball and Fender family of artists, and earned various Berklee College of Music scholarships. Musically, Ayla finds great pleasure in exploring the numerous avenues available to her through various styles of music, as seen through her work with Calpurnia and Ludic.

One of the mysteries of my life is how someone as young as you get this smart. I'm happy for you. Press on.
I really enjoyed your lesson. Stevie Wonder’s music is so rarely taught in guitar videos. I really appreciate your taking the time to introduce jazz voicings into the lesson. Think’s so much!
I didn't know he played guitar
×108.00¹ ?
@@holysmoke8439 I’m really surprised that a piano players music isn’t taught in GUITAR videos 😂
@@tikyant He played a hell of a lot more than just piano lmfao
In 10 days, I’ll turn 64. I mention that, because I have been a fanatic of Stevie since forever ago. As a teen, his poster was the only poster on my bedroom wall. I am a female - strictly acoustic guitarist. I do not read music (I read Tab at best) and I’ve acquired a few Stevie fake books along the years. His chord progressions are indeed beautiful and you’re right, his choices are colorful and un-ordinary. This is why I admire him so.
I stumbled on your video tonight and of course, was captured by the subject I was about to watch.
I’ve said all this when really, all I came to say was thank you for featuring an artist rarely covered by a guitar focus and to really thank you for being such an excellent teacher!
I am your newest subscriber.
Blessings be yours.
ive seen so many videos of Ayla admiring Stevie wonder, it’s nice to finally see her play some more of his music :)
As I search for intelligent lessons that incorporate some theory along the way, I really enjoyed this tutorial. I’ve been a life long musician/guitarist and you’ve done yourself proud. I’ll share this with others as my performing days are behind me but I still have old students that will ask questions about chord voicing and resolutions. Stevie Wonder is and always will be a National Treasure for all. Your video was well crafted. If I could pick your brain on the production aspects, I might be able to teach and share again through this type of medium. Keep up the good work. ✌️💙😎🎼
I may be watching a guitar instructor, but I feel like I'm listening to an extremely chilled spiritual guru dropping some heavy wisdom and hard rhythms
Best lesson I have seen in a long time
Ayla is the scariest person on UA-cam. So pretty, sweet...such a soothing voice. Then she starts playing and you realize she's a MONSTER! Such an incredible talent. And I love that green guitar!
The green in green is beautiful.
You simping it’s just a video
@@mrlofi333 No, I'm complimenting, not simping...whatever that means...
IMO, Tina S is scarier. Mostly because she doesn’t say a word and has a mostly calm expression ok her face. Yet she shreds like no other.
Appreciate ya Ayla.... fun added lol
Love your lessons Ayla. You are way beyond your years. Stevie is one of the greatest musicians in modern music for sure and this lesson hits the mark !
Thanks Ayala. You have such a gentle manner in your delivery. Thank you!🙏🇦🇺
Just discovered Ayla's lessons yesterday. Learned the guitar solo to Something from her. Amazing lessons. Beautiful smile.
This lesson was beyond amazing! I have always been fascinated by Stevie and how he writes such wonderful crazy songs that sometimes wouldn’t seem able to be brought together but he does it so perfectly that it works. This video was excellent for uncovering his incredible songs and I look forward to now learning more about his music, thank you again Ayla and the whole Guitareo team!
Your the best, always.
Boogie on reggae woman might be in my top ten of all time!
Best Guitar Teacher 👌. #lifecovers.
Wow, you guys struck gold getting this girl for these videos. She's great!
I love the way she explains
Ayla brings such wonderful energy. Such an amazing artist!
You explained the lesson clearly. Well done! I really enjoyed your calm demeanor as well.
My uncle showed me a Stevie wonder song . His fingers looked like they were broken and double and triple jointed . Needless to say , I was amazed , but since I have big chunky fat fingers I just capitulated and went back to learning Van Halen solos.
Thank you, Ayla, for relaying this essential Stevie approach...the intro to "You are the sunshine of my life" with the harmonized whole tone scale is another one of his signature sounds...lots to listen to
The C maj 7th is interesting
Amazing demonstration! What a great artist to take a deeper look at. thank you so much!
I don't understand how you are so knowledgeable and worldly at what appears to be such a young age... This was fun to watch and strum along to. You are a gifted teacher!
Humans are capable of absorbing and learning a lot more at a younger age than beer drinkers can imagine. I taught myself all of this and more by getting my hands on music theory books in 7th grade. My 2 year old can hear an A pitch and name it. Humans are just like computers booting up and having software installed. What you are exposed to in the first 5-6 years of life (the first 2 are especially important), wires your brain to perceive and excel at those things because the brain considers early stimulus important and essential for life. I don’t play simple nursery songs for my kid, I play complex music. He loves it and gets it. Kids are extremely adept at learning and they absorb knowledge like a sponge.
Beautiful and soothing teacher. Her style reminds me of Bob Ross.
Another super helpful lesson. I'm self taught and find it really hard to find people I can absorb information from. This video as well as a few of your others have helped me work a few things out that I've been struggling with. Thanks again and keep it up!!
So cool that you provide some eclectic high quality lessons.
Such a joy of music transmit this girl. Thank you Ayla!
Not to take away from your skill, talent, or content...your guitar has a wicked cool color scheme!!!
Wow, so glad I found this. You have a really cool approach to teaching. You obviously know your music. Respect.
He is a national treasure that we don’t appreciate enough. Great choice today! 😎
That's a sweet color guitar.
Nice, A La La La! You Rock! Canada Rocks! Keep on Trucking Baby! 🇨🇦 🍁 🇨🇦
Amazing! Love the master class Ayla!
I love Stevie Wonder! Thanks for making this video
I love the green on that guitar.
I am getting more into what Stevie did, as I finally learn theory. Because he has a combination of theory and good sense of harmony and melody. Whatever you do, it is better to be a song, than just a backing track.
Your explanation was very clear. Beautiful chords. Thanks!
Another amazing tutorial Ayla! Thanks heaps!
Good stuff🔥🤙🏼 also I love that guitar.
I love your approach and your method of contextual teaching by way of examples. VERY well executed. Thank you.
Nice lesson on the harmony of the genius of music from the Rock and Roll era! "crazy" chords aren't usually difficult and you proved it!
Too cool for school
Very well explained and lovely guitar ! Many thanks , peace ..
Yeah your right there is something mysterious about me! I walk in the Spirit most of the time. Thanks for noticing. :)
Great Video, great lesson. Thanx a lot🌹
Just subscribed....thank you for your time work and effort. The quality of your thoughts are exceptional and your presentation is as velvety smooth as the chords you play.
she is so awesome in explaining things!
she made is so easy for me to listen en play along!
tysm :D
the second advanced technique is also heard in smile please, gorgeous song
amazing tutorial :) love your smile & your approachable amazing teaching
love your lessons
My Brain hurts .. LOL but seriously a Gr8 lesson .. intimately played with just your fingers ( no Pick ) & a lovely smooth sound .. very classy . I love the story 's that Stevie when he was Little Stevie Wonder .. used to always be around the studio " getting in everyones way & jumping on the drums when ever they were left alone & also found sleeping behind Amps in a corner during an all night session .. When I 1st heard Innervisions it just Blew my Mind . & one of my favourite songs of His & in my attempts to learn the Superstition Riff in Eb I used to blind fold myself & as a nice way to practice just have one candle on in the room ( safety 1st Kids ) But Although SRV 's Version made it more accessible & Stevie admits he Multi tracked the Song in the studio alone & he rarely plays it as it was 1st laid down often using other keyboard players .. it is still my Go to warm up on a Keyboard .. He is such a Trickster LOL it is always entertaining to watch him make his Band jump through Hoop's trying to follow his Directions .. A true Master makes it all look so easy .. As you just did with this Lesson .. Big Love & stay safe .
It is refreshing to see your simple yet effective approach to creating content without the use of all the unnecessary jazz that’s typically seen in UA-cam videos. All the best 👍🏻
This is the most useful (at least to me) guitar video I have ever seen. Subscribed.
Really loving that guitar color.
I just love your relaxed disposition 😄 i dont know squat about jazz but i definetly know more after this video
Cool Video. I cannot go past Master Blaster from Stevie Wonder. So Cool. Thanks
Great clean tone. So talented and so chill. Enjoyed this lesson. I'm a huge Stevie-fan. oNe LovE from NYC
Sounds awsome and classy just like you can't wait to turn my rig home and trying it on my electric
Amazing thank You💓
Very good lesson thank you, the different steps are very well explained 👍🙏🤘
I liked the base part. I do indeed try to put base in country or reggae, but jazz is still something I'm scratching the surface with.I appreciate , as a guitar player the Stevie Wonder Lesson.
Great explanation and gret smyle!
Stevie Wonder is the God of Music incarnate
great lesson ...just great !!
Loved the lesson. For vocalists, that V chord is the place for adding color (obviously), so for those who are accompanying vocals,....
I didn't know that, thanks!
Very informative and enjoyable lesson-thank you.
i really enjoy all the lessons that are provided. It is so inspiring to know that i can learn guitar as i have wanted to my whole life. I really enjoy the way you teach and would like to know if you have a lesson on picking. i seem to have hit that as a road block. with so many different opinions i would really appreciate your. Thank you
Beautiful...I really enjoy this
Great video!
Also insanely cool guitar
Why everything in this video is soooo beautiful?
I love this stuff 👏 I was trying to learn My Cherie Amour a while back.
👍 Good lesson
Very nice, thank you.
I love it. So cool ! 👍👍👍
cool stuff
Wow, just found your channel. You're really really good! So cool
This was great!
Nice teaching style
Great tutorial, appreciate your help…
great lesson im only half way through but im loving these new chords
Love your videos, your style of 'teaching' is very instructive and pleasant. And u play so cleanly! (And irrelevant comment: George Harrison should have borrowed your guitar for the Beatles rooftop concert, the Green color matches the pants he was wearing 😉)
Gotta love them PHaT chords !!!
You’re fabulous! I’m sending this link to my drummer/partner 😊 Your charming, musical articulations of the Harmonized Major Scale, and the ii V I cadence are brilliant and accessible. Unlike my bossy, schoolmarm lecture 🤭
So you're telling me i have to close my eyes to play like Stevie, roger that
amazing mis...
Sweet voice.
Hi Ayla. I invite you to the west beach grill in White Rock for Sunday evening open mic jams. It's a privilege knowing you're in our little corner of the world.
Thank you great lesson, Stevie Wonder is one of the GOATS
What does GOATS stand for mate? 🙂
Ah, I'm guessing Greatest of all time... something....
And he does all this with his eyes closed!
Bravo super
Nice.... Pretty cool.
You can hear "Sunday Morning" by Maroon 5 in the chords 3:57
I almost did't care for the quitar but couldn't get away because you have such an amazing voice.
Your hair is wonderful! 😍
Thanks for posting these videos! I enjoy them so much. Now if I could only get motivated to try to play them!
I noticed that the headstock on this guitar seems abnormally large. Is that an illusion or does it contribute to the sound in some way?
Can't wait for the next one :)
Cool!!!
Great choice for the video, Ayla! I love dissonant chords in guitar, and I would like to recommend Lenine, a brazilian composer, musician and singer. I hope you enjoy. Regards from Brazil!
Nice guitar! Cool colorway. Leprechaun 🍀🎸 those chords are puurty
