The issue with part 3 wasn't how long it was, it was just its dumb format. Every episode doesn't feel like it had weight on the story, it was just a stand battle and then "ok we kept traveling off camera." If we actually saw them make progress on camera I woulda like part 3 SO much better. I also hated the convenient "Oh, no more plain travel, and then Oh, boat was a stand no more boat travel" And on top of that why was there so many 2/3/4 parters, like dude not every villain needs to be stretched over several episodes.
Part 3 had me invested the entire time because of the road trip with da Bois vibe and because I was extremely invested in Jotaro and Polnareffs character arcs. The only episodes I didn't like were the Sun and Alessi episodes and even then the camel joke almost makes up for the sun to me and the Alessi episodes had a great joke ending as well with Kid Jotaro stomping him. Most of the episodes in part 3 had some standout character moment or chemistry. I honestly don't get the problem with part 3 sure a lot of the minor villains suck but the same thing can be said about part 4, 6, and some part 7 villains.
I unironically like the straight up 80s-ness of Part 1. Dio fucked with Jonathan's girl, Jonathan gets actually buff as fuck (in a way that matters, not like the rest of the parts where they're buff to look buff), beats the shit out of Dio, and goes down with the ship all while being this super honorable goody two shoes guy. Love it.
Part 4 is my favorite part (having read parts 1-7 at this point) BECAUSE of the slice of life elements. Mainly, because the slice of life episodes were the first time we got to see Araki applying stand encounters to non battle scenarios, which opened up a lot of interesting and fun story scenarios that you just don’t see from parts like 3, 5, or even 7 as good as steel ball run is. Like arguably my favorite episode of the entire series is “Let’s go eat some italian food” because it’s a comedic red herring episode with no actual battle, just Josuke getting tricked into thinking there’s gonna be one by another dude’s strange behavior. And of course because of Josuke punching the sphaghetti.
yeah lots of people say its their favourite part, i guess its just not for him because i loved it and its my favourite because i loved basically every single character including the villains.
Agreed, part 4 was the most fun part to watch - I remember laughing until I cried during the episode where josuke meets the alien, and his first thought was to use him to turn into dice for a game to steal money from rohan (and ends up accidentally burning his house down). Also liked the fact that many of the episodes were focused on developing a cast of characters rather than just having the season be one fight after another (which was my experience of parts 3 and 5)
I've only watched the anime and I like the ending of part 6 tgye most. For me its part 6>4>5=3>2=1 (tbh i don't even remember ehat happened in part 1 and 2)
@@mattiketola864 - Also… I believe that one would be a true JoJo fan if they were to know and remember that Jonathan is the only JoJo to make DIO cry.😤💪🏼💙
Part 1 is an acquired taste. Details of the story are shaky, but the traditional Dracula and Castlevania story it's going for is just too fucking good, man
another thing: the opening is incredibly underrated. i liked it at first but it definitely wasn’t my favorite, then i started listening to the full uncut song. i respect it more every time i listen to it to the point it may be top three.
I understand seeing Giorno as boring compared to the other characters, but I feel like Giorno was just a bit different than the other MCs in JJBA. Giorno was pushing the rest of the cast to grow when he was already at the peak of his growth as opposed to the normal trope of the main character being pushed the grow by the rest of the cast.
the rest of the Passione gang really does shine in more fun and interesting ways than Giorno, but on the other hand it makes Giorno stick out like a sore thumb with how he's this mostly static, perfect pretty-boy.
@jacobbarker4180 Facts, he’s intentional already at the end of his development in contrast to every other JoJo who has to go through some form of self understanding in their respective story arcs. Giorno has Jonathan’s good heart along with DIO’s self understanding, making him already aware of who he is and what he wants. Thats why he’s the fucking Goat
It is very interesting point about Giorno, yeah. He is like a sun that maybe not that interesting itself, but by his light other characters of the gang could shine line some interesting glass figures. And yeah, it is revese of this trope when gg need to become better, refine himself to become an icon that could inspire others... while Giorno is this just from a start, he is capable, smart and just a good person... So, thank for this note, I myself love part 5 and Giorno, but couldn't exactly pin-point WHY... and hey, this is definetly one of the reasons that I feel, but couldn't understand :)
First time I watched Part 4 I thought it was somewhat mid. Then I rewatched it and it's definitely the most memorable and it's obvious why it's Araki's favorite part. It's different than the parts before it for sure, but it's also the most grounded, has an extremely strong cast and perfectly weaves the detective storyline with comedic aspects.
Honestly part 4 just seems like my comfort part at this point. It's like a little break from all the parts where a jobro dies every 3 episodes, but it's still got that action and jojo charm that makes the series the way it is. I hope I'm making sense, but yeah, just my thoughts.
An aspect of jojo I’m beginning to not like (but make me appreciate part 3 and more importantly 4 more now) is how it always tends to immediately escalate the stakes so far beyond relatability to the point where it goads us to care about characters we barely knew yet right before they die. I still believe part 3’s adaption could’ve been a bit shorter, I can’t deny that its length sorta played into its advantage by actually having mostly the same cast for the entire part. Like to the point where we get to see them in enough serious AND lighthearted scenarios for us to feel like we went on a genuine journey together. Which is crazy to me considering how half the crusaders weren’t even developed or written that well to begin with. But part 3 already served as a soft reboot to the franchise anyways so it always feels like it exists in its own little pocket world. So the simple yet zany characters fit in pretty decently due to how simple and zany the entire goal and villains tend to be. I feel like part 4 parried off of that concept beautifully by having all of morioh play into the shock at the reveal that kira lurking around in it. We spent so much time getting to know the town and its people BEFORE kira (when he was technically already there) it makes the reveal hit harder and genuinely raise the stakes and put into perspective how dangerous he actually is and what could happen if he loses. Ntm how morioh as a town served as pretty great surrogate to have the monster of the week formula compared to other parts to me. I’m an anime only and have been watching SO week to week (aka i’m still not done with part 2 of part 6) but I genuinely am becoming more dissapointed by how it seems araki may never return to structuring parts like that again.
@@theradionicrevival8068 I don't really know what you mean specifically by raise the stakes past relatability? What does raising the stakes have to do with how relatable a part is? Imo part 4 had low stakes but was relatable and part 3, 6, and 7 had high stakes and was relatable. But part 5 is the only part imo that had high stakes with an unrelatable climax (not to knock part 5 I still like it) but more importantly part 8 has low stakes but isn't very relatable in its climax. I just don't really think stakes has anything to do with how relatable the climax of a part is.
Personally, the reason I like Part 4 is because it's mostly just a bunch of dumbasses hanging out and being dramatic. The (mostly) relaxed environment means I feel the characters didn't have to be serious all the time so I got a better grasp of them faster and they didn't feel flat, but when they did get serious it was always pretty cool, which was a great relief after Part 3. I mean, it's not exactly Nichijou but it sure isn't your average battle manga. When Kira comes in it really does feel like a different show/manga though, which is more in line with what most fans were probably expecting at that point. I personally loathe Kira (in a good way) so I enjoy both the Slice of Life and Killer arcs. They kinda mix like oil and water though.
@@astralman i meant as if he had it THEN or even in the modern Jojo. Image him fighting some pure spa that thought he was only a muscle head. And then finding out he could read your mind and emotions and can predict you and plan around you. And THEN yoh get a fist to a face from someone who can snap metal bars apart.
@@doctorwho3708 That would make an interesting fan comic, but I think part one ended the best way it could, with a bit of tragedy catching people off guard to leave a strong impression and setting things up perfectly for future storylines and the beginning of a mega arc that goes on into part 6.
The genious of part 4 is how everything clicks the moment Kira is introduced. He's not only a meanie bad guy, he's a literal serial homicidal maniac going around in a town you have learned to like little by little. It makes it so satisfying when he's finally put down.
@@Naven251 if I'm being honest, I think Angelo is a much of a deserving main villain than Kira, I really felt like he's supposed to be the actual main villain but just rushed for no reason.
@@ammagon4519 you gotta be joking, angelo is as much of a main villain as cioccolata is, nothing about him contrasts him and josuke like for example Kira's stand being the exact opposite of Crazy Diamond or how Kira tries to manipulate fate
Part 1 is honestly really great. Doesn’t overstay its welcome, has an extremely likeable main trio in Jonathan, Zeppeli and Speedwagon, an awesome antagonist in Dio, a really distinct atmosphere in comparison to other parts and a really sad yet satisfying ending. I get why it’s not as popular as the other parts, but the groundwork it laid out is undeniable and its presentation really resinated with me. It’s a strong introduction and did a great job at hooking me into JoJo’s. Jonathan is my favourite JoJo personally, and I think he proves that your protagonist doesn’t have to be super complex in their motives or morals to be endearing. He’s just a true gentleman.
Personally, Part 2 is my favorite. Great start and introduction to Joseph, good training arc with the water pillar, the Pillar Men were fantastic antagonists and the music was phenomenal, especially the choice to use Part 1's theme for the final fight, that was just perfect!
@@jobansand Same. I mean, I'll probably get used to stands, but I loved the ancient mythology and superhumans aspect of season one so much better. How can any of the subsequent villains, with the exception of Dio, stand up in comparison to the Pillar Men and an Ultimate Lifeform? And even Dio only became what he did because of Kars' invention.
I didn't view Part 2 any different from Part 1. I liked the squirrel & pigeon scenes & that was abt it. This was back then, now JoJo is my favorite anime as of Stone Ocean's second batch (I already know everything up through Part 8's ending)
Part 1 in retrospect is really good to go back to after reading/watching the entire series. Like re-experiencing the early chapters of the Original timeline’s story and Arakis early art style. It is all interesting to go back to see how far we have come.
part 1: everybody has outragious proportions, dio puts a dog in an oven, a flamboyant itallian guy screeches while punching a frog, speedwagoooooooon sears jonathan with his abs, dio becomes a floating head, the list goes on. part 1 is absolutely hilarious, batshit crazy, and has suspenseful fights. i don't understand how people dont like it
This. Will Zeppeli and Jonathan Joestar fly away on a magic carpet of leaves held together with hamon. Jonathan confronts Dio in a dark mansion and we fet the Yes "Roundabout" TBC meme. The whole episode is set in 19th centurt England, and the outro transitions to Mayan / Aztec bas relief carvings. Speedwagon narrates out loud like he is a play-by-play commentator Dire thunder cross split attack, the fool fell for it! Dire's dismembered head taunts Dio by sending a ripple-charges rose into his eye. I was introduced to JoJo through part 1 and I can't say how much it delighted me that all the characters were named after classic rock bands and artists. Jojo Part 1 was like hearing Rock and Roll for the first time.
coming into part 4 from part 3 was a breath of fresh air. For me it didnt feel drawn out or waiting for something to happen, it was entertaining whether the eps had plot relevance or not and its defs where araki had a lot of fun with happenstance between characters. Unlike part 3 where it was all focused on "ok dio sent someone lets beat them" its more "im living with a supernatural power and weird things happen cause someone keeps making stand users" which pops off way more cause florida man of japan just popping out stand users left, right, centre is so silly and far more entertaining then dio just brainwashing or paying people to off the joestars.
i do kinda understand why charlie believes what he does on part 4, but without the first “slice of life” half, i wouldn’t have cared nearly as much about what happened when kira was introduced, so i think it’s necessary.
Maybe, but i feel like the slice of life part drags on for longer than i would've preferred, i don't remember exactly which episode Kira was introduced, but it's like half way through the part, which is quite a while. I do like the few foreshadows of him tho beforehand, like the hand in the intro of the part and him in the crowd during the chili peppers fight
Exactly, maybe it's just me growing old and not liking action stuff as I used to, but dang that's the reason I like Part 4, it's campy and fleshes out the characters in its own way.
@@denxx56 as far as I remember, those were only scenes that were added only in the anime, Kira definitely didn't make a proper foreshadowing at all in the manga.
People just don't understand part one. It's actually so damn good, and killing off the hero and having the villain win was pretty groundbreaking for Shonen series. And of course, I love part 2, though I was rooting for the Pillar Men. My heart actually broke for Kars.
As someone who has only seen Part 1 and 2, and started Part 3. Why do they hate on Part 1 so much when it was the original start of the show and act as if Araki had already made the later parts when he made the first one? Coming from someone who recently got into it, it seems these perspectives are heavily contextual and depend when you actually started "watching" the show and when the other parts were later released. Again I haven't watched the full show and am still forming my opinion, but I loved Part 1, so to hear that hardcore fans don't kind irked me, am I wrong? Will I change my opinion based off later parts? (As of finishing part 2 and starting part 3, nope.)
Exactly, I personally have part 4 in 3rd place out of the 8 parts, i thought it was excellent throughout but I'm fully fine watching it despite disagreeing because they're talking about it respectfully rather than the typical Internet discourse of "How dare you like something I dislike" and "How dare you dislike something I like"
@@demon_hawkeye5269 agreed bro! i personally dislike part 3 and part 5 was okay but not that good for me, but I absolutely loved parts 2, 4, and 6 they were just PHENOMENAL and i loved them! and part 1 was a perfect start and introduction to the series!
@@godspeedredeicieli4384 he is boring BECAUSE of his amount of screentime. we never see more of him. joseph and jotaro we have seen for a long time which is why most fans say its their fav jojo.
basically. its why i prefer 3 over 1. 1 did nothing original just removed all the shounen baggage. while 3 invented arguably the best shounen power system next to nen. but he was new to stands so its nothing more than a pioneer.
@@ammagon4519 what i mean is that Part 1 is the shounen without the fluff. Part 3 is more classic-modern type shounens akin to naruto and one piece. Part 1 is, for its time, is the quintessential shounenf. Part 3, like the shounen from its time, upgraded that formula from part 1 like how shounen has evolved from the 80s to the 90s. shounens from the 80s are literally that, classic epic fairy stories.
Not many people know or share this… but Part 1 is my favorite mainly because of *Jonathan being the only JoJo to make DIO cry.* It’s also the main reason he’s my most favorite JoJo. Your favorite JoJo may be Jonathan’s descendants, but never forget where their sense of justice comes from.☝🏼💪🏼💙
Not only that, but DIO, of all people, had the utmost respect for Jonathan by the end. From then on, he compared all other JoJos to Jonathan... and overwhelmingly found them lacking.
tbf i agree with him on parts 1 and 2, I think they slap way harder than the community give them credit for, especially part 2. His opinions on the rest being bad are really stinky though lmao. The only thing is, I do wish that they stuck with stands being "an evolution of Hamon" that is unlocked in an individual by the arrow instead of Hamon just essentially stopping to exist.
This, something i really loved about part 4 is how it really lives up to the name "bizarre adventure" the aesthetic and vibe of that entire part is just so comfy yet cool, and when the Kira race starts? It kicks up and reaches it's true potential.
Part 1 is honestly goated in terms of its storytelling and I can't be persuaded that its not. Ive genuinely never understood how people dislike or skip it. Like yeah its simpler than the stories that come after it but its so tight and concise and every character in it is memorable. Those two first episodes of Phantom Blood absolutely dug their hooks in me, I was so gripped by the story of Dio and his rivalry with the gentle giant Jonathon and the lengths he would go to destroy him, down to becoming a fucking vampire, amd that conflict resolves really well. The story is also astoundingly paced for how short it is, which is something that I think the series struggles with after Bloody Stream. Ive absolutely never understood why people dislike Phantom Blood.
The reason the start of Part 4 and it's slice of life format are important is that it sets the stakes for the rest of the part. The threat of part 4 was to the people and town of Morioh, and that threat would not be nearly as compelling if we didn't know the people living there. If Kira wins, all these people who we've met will die. As opposed to Dio taking over the world in part 3, we know that's bad, but other than the main cast we don't know or care about the people.
Not really all people. Just some. It was amazing because the threat wasn't really high. It was just a serial killer that killed some women around town. He wouldn't kill everyone in it. They went after him because they wanted revenge and because he was a stand user, not because they knew he existed (remember when they learned about him and decided to do nothing until Shigechi died?) That's why this part was cool. If they weren't there nothing would've really happened so this was just a fun little adventure with low stakes.
@@bruhmoment3478 the reason they didn’t do anything when they first learned about him is because they thought he was a run of the mill serial killer. Kira is much more of a threat to the town simply BECAUSE he is a stand user. The whole reason they go after him isnt just because he killed shigechi, but considering that shigechi’s stand was basically invincible in stand combat, that meant the person who killed him had a really strong ability themself. The entire reason they stopped ignoring him is because through shigechi’s death they learned he was a massive threat. (Joseph even talks to jotaro about how there’s a murderous stand user on the loose) Also, saying kira isn’t a threat to morioh is like saying Jeffrey dahmer with super powers wouldn’t be a threat to whatever town he lived in. Of fucking course he would be, killing any part of the town is still threatening the town.
There is nothing inherently wrong with having a slice of life format its just that the execution of it in part 4 was lacking to where it feels like its a waste of time which could of been better spent focusing on the villain.
Part 2 was the best. Joseph is my favorite, entertaining as hell to watch at every moment and the stakes were super high with him fighting actual gods and shit like even he was surprised by how he was able to outsmart them at times 😂
the odd thing to me is much of the jojo community becomes separated, like how some fandoms are toxic to people who dont like a certain anime, the entire jojo community often splits itself into its separate parts and people will say "I like part 5 jojos but parts 1,3,4,6 are all HORRIBLE" and I think thats strange like its ALL jojo. personally Id say I like all jojo not necessarily all parts equally but I wouldn't denounce a certain part either lol
I love how they agree that part 1 is a casual filter. People call it "boring" when it sets the standard. A Heroic guy fighting an unabashedly Evil guy, being the most giga of chads of all time
Honestly part 6 is my favorite part. It has the most complex and creative stands, a plot that keeps on unfolding more and more. A main villain actively pursuing a goal instead of just sitting in the background till the very end. Who (along with the protagonist) Actively pushes the plot. Doesn't have the most OP ability (Specifically whitesnake) And honestly has protagonist levels of big brain. I also think it has the most natural formula of the whole "Stand of the week" thing. Plus I love Jolyne and I love the ending to the part as well. And I think the anime adaptation has done a great Job. (Aside from the spots with bad cgi and questionable drawings of characters)
@@scrollingthru45 Hey I'm also like barely over halfway through part 8 lol. But I do get some of the criticisms like the side characters not getting enough time to shine (Compared to part 4 and 5) And in the manga some of the pacing issues with some fights. And the ending isn't for everyone but I still love it. Plus people speedread and don't even process any of it so they can get to part 7. Or they just read the ending lol. But I still think it's the best
I have to differ I don't really like part 6, it was alright I think there are no bad jojo parts but I felt like part 6 was the worse as far as jojo can go, I don't like the weird sexual shit the part started off with, I feel like all of the "Jo-Bros" in that part were not built upon very well and were quite dull characters with the exception of foo fighters and the first 2 batches were all in the same location (and not to mention where there hell is gwess throughout the whole part) however one redeeming quality is tge villain, I love pucci more than dio
@@Editorsmurfee8549 And that's perfectly fine. I do think the anime has done a better (Not perfect) job of giving the characters more to work with in terms of scenes and time spent with them as opposed to the manga. And I mean the whole thing with Gwess is idk why anyone would want to team up with some crazy lady who killed a dude and shrunk you then forced you into a degutted mouse body, then forcing you to train and act like a mouse to help her escape. Then backstabbing you to try and get you killed by the guards. And in terms of location, Atleast we are always exploring other parts of the prison, moving all around it and such. But i do see how it can be unenjoyable for some people, as its not as rich and enjoyable as Morioh per say but its not really meant to be. And its good that theyre leaving prison finally so the entire part doesnt solely take place in there. But I can't say I disagree other than that
@@intricatepickle5931 I really don't get why people don't like the ending tbh. Part 6 is my second least favorite part and I have a ton of issues with it but the ending is perfect imo and I wouldn't have it any other way.
@@Amunny so basically charlie got the shounen brain where they need to watch action scene for every 5 minutes. I couldn't imagined him playing persona 4 then...
@@lordtouchme77 It's just less engaging. With Part 3 and 5, there is at least a goal that you feel you move towards. With the first half of Part 4, this doesn't feel like it's the case for most of the scenarios. Not to mention that a lot of people probably came from Part 3, which was already way too long and didn't want to sit through that kind of ordeal again.
I think the problem with part 3 is summed up by two things: - It adapted 3.2 chapters per episode on average, while the rest of the series averages 4.2 chapters per episode, making it a whole 25% slower than the rest of the show combined. - Araki pulls half the plots out of his arse and the other half from old movies he hopes the audience hasn't seen.
I dont think giorno puts down pt5, i think its the ending, doesnt feel complete at all, so many story lose ties and no extra mafia stuff seen, no reactions to bucciratis corpse at the collesseum etc.
@@timurtheking What do you mean story loose ties? Part 5 was very simple. After Diavolo's death there's nothing else to do with the cast, and I think the Rolling Stones arc was necessary for the amount of times Jojo brings up fate and fortune telling as a genuine thing.
@@nuibaba280 fuga as a whole was a loose tie, even araki himself says something similar, ik why he left fugo like that but still. 2nd they never show any reaction to bucci apart from giorno. @@timurtheking Not a loose tie. Fugo just didn't go and that was that. Also, they don't show lots of things in the ending. Purple Haze feedback does a good job at revealing more of what happens
I wonder how does Charlie feel about Twin Peaks, since that was the inspiration for Part 4. Also, I'm still asking myself: how does the first opening manage to make me smile? :D
I started watching jojo when part 5 came out; so by the time I watched part 3, part 4 was already out. One day I watched the last episode of part 3, with "last train one" as the ending song; the next day it was glorious hearing the happy and colourful opening of part 4. Part 4 has my favourite openings (all 3 fits well)
Same here, but honestly the only reason I'm not a JoJo fan is because of how much the show changed after part 2. I feel catfished by those first 2 parts, the kind of storytelling, animation, and English dubbing is something is unmatched by everything that came after them
T_T Part 3's my favorite so far. I love it exactly for the Stand of the week format, and that each episode gives us a little bit of something about a character. It's strange for an exposition-heavy series, but that's what makes it interesting for me. Part 3 is also one of the few series where I love ALL the main characters. Kakyoin easily became one of my all-time favorites as well.
For me, the slice of life stuff is what puts part 4 over the edge even if it can be seen as boring to others; loved the huge cast of characters that are introduced (the chef episode is my favourite minor episode in all of JoJo for how silly it is). It gets really cosy in the first half, then the Kira stuff goes full blast into the crazy sphere. I also think part 4 is the funniest part alongside part 2. Part 5 is also great although I think the story has some missed potential, along with the ending not fully clicking with me.
You can sorta tell Araki might've been burned out near the end of Part 5 as he took his first ever hiatus after he finished it. Also some things like Fugo's betrayal didn't realize their full potential
The part 4 take really hurt me. Imo Yoshikage Kira really gave it a strong end and I loved how it turned into a very dark environment along with the slice of life type of style
part 4 is actually my favourite because the genius of Kira as a concept and character surpasses Kira’s arcs entirely. We see him living his life in the very beginning, and throughout the course of the first half of part 4, you see Kira living his normal life and you dont even know it’s him until you rewatch part 4. Part 4 is also when the stands got more creative and bizarre, but not incredibly absurd like later parts
Part 4 stands also punch above their weight impressively often. Crazy Diamonds can almost do any attack so long as “restoration” is an action that can be done, and Josuke is smart enough to do stuff Crazy Diamond cannot just do with punching and restoration. Echoes Act 2 basically can just be the ultimate trap stand, laying dangers just by touching a thing. Even given The Hand is Okuyasu’s, he gets very far with it. Surface takes control of any stand user. The Lock enforces politeness and is an unconventional lie detector. Cinderella basically changes fate. Enigma means you can capture anything and any person if they are inside a thing. Atom Heart Father and Superfly are some of the best containment stands. Heaven’s Door is low-grade reality warping. Highway Star is the ultimate tracker. Red Hot Chili Peppers can scale up to the heaviest hitting stands provided a city’s worth of power. Harvest is basically a game of Pikmin. Stray Cat can instinctively kill anybody. And while all of Killer Queen’s forms including it with Stray Cat are not overtly powerful, had Kira been more careful it probably would have. Honestly, almost all of the Part 4 stands are very impressive despite not working complexly or on fundamental forces of the universe.
Tbh even though 3 was a bit long it’s my favourite part, idk the characters are just so likeable and the payoff with the dio fight is so satisfying it’s honestly one of my favourite fights in anime and I think it’s the funniest out of all the parts aswell. Part 6 is going to dethrone it tho because I already read it
Sameee. Sure, it did drag on for a while, but the characters really left a mark, and the beginning and end more than make up for the drag in the middle.
Part 6 is ass , it's literally the worst jojo out of all , I loved the characters , story , but the ending was completely dog shit , shit is about as worse as the attack on titan ending
i LOVE part 3!! personally i just love seeing all the interactions between the crusaders and ive always loved the whole stands being based on tarot cards thing. Maybe im just biased tho cause polnareff is my favorite jjba character ever lmao
Part 4 (& 6) are my favorite, but even having read the manga of Part 4 firstly my opinion was abt the exact same as Charlie's until I joined a forum & talked abt Part 4 tirelessly going on kinda deep subjects & such on Josuke's character - how each fight he gets into contributes in some way to his final scuffle against Kira. I was blown away & now only think to defend Part 4 with all my might to the point I could even make content talking about how special it is
I'll get back to ya on that, too sick to write long-form right now. To keep it short for now, I really do enjoy him for who he is, and he's also the only character to do the cartoon awooga eyes out of every single JoJo character. /j No but I'll have to get back to this lol. It's also in relation to how he's Araki's personal favorite JoJo character as well. JoJo kinda is that series that you have to really, REALLY jive with & talk about to enjoy it to the fullest. Defo not for everyone, but I do think the end of Part 6 is for everyone
@@descendantofartorias2067 the reason josuke works is because he is like jonathan and joseph together. Hes a young, admirable man with a tough exterior that just wants to help people like his grandfather did. Doing whats right vs doing what you want. Josuke is funny, wants to make friends and fuck around hes just a regular teenager. The most normal jojo teenager at that. Hes just a good kid trying to do the right thing
In terms of personality josuke is FAR more entertaining than johnathan, giorno, and probably even johnny imo. Just because he feels alot like his own person whos relatable rather than just a quiet tough guy (not that johnny is like that hes just a little plain in the beggining)
I love part 4 so much i genuinely dont understand how you can hate it what. I didnt love the beggening either, it definitely started off slow. But Kira isnt even introduced all that late into the show, and once he is it is literally so fucking amazingly good from every moment onward. I actually dont understand that take
I loved the beginning and the ending. I don't watch slice of life, but I feel that Araki still managed to make it so entertaining. Kira is also the best villain hands down.
I don’t understand how people are calling part 4 slice of life as if there still aren’t stand battles like every episode. Especially coming off of part 3 the stands in part 4 were significantly more creative and stayed that way in the later parts too.
Especially since the 3rd batch of Stone Ocean has just come out, Part 6 is definitely my favourite animated part. However, my favourite part overall is between Part 7 and Part 8. Both parts were amazing to read, especially Part 8, but Part 7 has one of the best villains in the entire series so it's hard to pick between them for me
When it comes to the quality of the series, it seems like JoJo fans are split on Parts 3 to 6 with some fans preferring their 2nd half that saves a whole part for them or others that feel like the 1st Half was so bad that it ruins the part for them, meanwhile we all universally agree that parts 1 is the weakest and part 2 is awesome, so honestly I just think it depends on whether you’ve read or watch JoJos because manga wise trash taste is on point where parts 4 & SBR or “part 7” is the best while in the anime it’s so far the ending of part 3 and all of part 5 as the best. The 3rd final cour of part 6 will most likely be in their league as well.
I feel like part 5 could be so much more if only the other main characters were given more screen times and was fleshed out more. Narancia was only given one strong moment. Trish was given only one strong moment (understandably since she's quite a late addition but she was their objective the whole first half of the series so it felt like a let down.) Abacchio was also only given one strong moment with the insane fight before his pending demise. And the most disappointing decision Araki has done imo, removing Fugo from the squad despite being one of the most interesting character. Bucciarati and Mista, especially Mista, kept being the only characters that I see fight multiple times from start to end unlike the others that remain unconcious or incapacitated for certain circumstances. I love Bucciarati and Mista but goddamn I just wanted to see the others show what they were capable of.
Fugo was too strong. Purple Haze would've made everything so much easier. Okuyasu gets to have a really strong stand because he's stupid enough to where he can't exploit it.
@@docilelikewintercatfish Jojo probably one of the series that have the most distinctive opinion for each people. Every parts is good to their own, and there's no objective answer for that
part 6's ending make or break the part - he needs to watch the ending first to rate it properly everything else in part 6 is alright and equal to other jojo parts
Part 4 forever GOATED. My god, the slow burn mystery/crime and the bombastic (no pun intended) final arc hits way Harder because of that contrast. Crazy noisy bizarre town~
As soon as Charlie said “I hate part 4” I was about to click the video. I absolutely love part 4 Josuke is my favorite character amongst the rest of the jojo main characters and the whole murder mystery in the town of Mori was thrilling.
Regarding part 1 not trying to do anything unique and “having all the classic shonen tropes”, those actually only date after part 1, *it did them first*
I feel like for many people wether it comes down to music, tv shows, movies, etc, the more perspectives and time you take to really take in and analyze a show even if ever so slightly will help you appreciate it a lot more. I used to have the almost exact same opinion as Critikal. Since the last year I got back into JOJO’S I’m picking up things and learning new stuff about the anime, manga, and even Araki himself. It’s at a point to where I enjoy every part I’ve seen so far (up until part 6) and have so many things to talk about between all of them. If someone blatantly doesn’t like something about a part then that’s warranted we all have opinions, but some things can be turned into positives and JOJO’S can help exercise that motion a ton!
@@virael3801 When you finally get it, Pucci's plan is very intriguing. However, the process to understand his plan is why part 6 is so controversial among fans, some say it's a convoluted mess while others embrace it like the second coming of The End of Evangelion/Infinity wars of sort, to put it in my perspective.
I'm so happy part 5 and 6 are finally getting some respect along with their anime release. Part 2 depends entirely on if you like Joseph or not, (I found the plot to be all over the place).
@@descendantofartorias2067 Part 3 had the best group of any part, imo. Cool stands, could hold their own and jotaro was the baddest mf ever known in the joestar blood line
i think the best way to describe part 1 is that like... it feels a lot like what was already around at the time of the manga, like fist of the north star (i assume, please correct me on that i was born after both of these series came out and i don't feel like looking right now) and that it just like. doesn't take itself THAT seriously to a point of it trying too hard to be badass. like it's a little silly and cheesy but it OWNS that and it's part of why i like part 1 so much, at least. it's fun when you go back and rewatch it compared to everything else like oh yeah, this is what it was before, wasn't it??
Part 5 is by far my favorite JoJo part so if Part 7 is anything like it in terms of vibes I'll definitely think it's peak when it gets animated. I finished Part 6 and it was good but I still think Part 5 is much better. I'm excited for Part 7 to get animated though.
@Yugee I felt like it had a great cast of main characters, the stand powers were as great as ever so the fights were rarely boring, it had good pacing compared to previous parts imo and the themes were fantastic. One thing I will say though is that Diavolo wasn't as good as the previous villains.
@Yugee I can understand your opinion honestly. I didn't care much for Fugo's character so I guess I was more okay without him being elaborated on. Not gonna lie I still haven't processed Part 6's ending properly (I just finished watching the last episodes yesterday, the things with Emporio and Pucci at the end there were nuts) so I might take you up on that. What you said about Part 7 is so interesting to me because that was exactly what I felt about Part 5. I feel it took everything JoJo had to offer before it and made it work. If you're describing Part 7 like that then I doubt I wouldn't like it. Based off how Part 6 ended I guess we might be getting a fresh start? Not to spoil anything for people who haven't finished Part 6 yet but we clearly can't simply follow the Joestar bloodline like we used to anymore, so I wonder what's going to be done...
I really liked the journey of part 3. It wasn't quite as "I MUST SEE THE NEXT EPISODE I HAVE NO CHOISE" as some other parts of the show but I still found it really fun and entertaining. I also think it was very important. It's what made the part. When I think back to it I think "wow, that was a real journey. It really fit the name 'Cruisaders'" I think without the long journey it would have felt far less impactful even in the later parts when they look back at the photo.
I had the same exact opinion but on rewatch I really grew to enjoy the season. When you know whats going down later the little murder mystery is a nice breath of fresh air and episodes like the italian restaurant one are just an incredibly fun watch. It really suffers on first watch when you want to know how the world is gosnna develop and if dio is somehow gonna come back again but 5 and 6 do that well enough that a break in 4 is nice
Part 4 is definitely my favorite part of them all, even including the manga. Part 1 is definitely a good part, but it's very slow and cliche, part 2 is really where it picks up steam, part 3 is very iconic but it does drag in some parts and gets repetitive, part 5 is probably the second most iconic since I believe it was currently airing at peak Jojo fever, and it took a different approach than the rest, and part 6 is absolutely great despite how Netflix is treating it, and the Manga which is about to be fully animated in less than a week gets even better, and finally, parts 7 and 8, which are both only Manga are some of the best stories in the series, especially part 7, which is the best part in the series
Part 4 made me love slice of life. I watched nothing in that genre before then and now it might be one of my favorites. Part 4 is the best and I will die on this hill.
Part 3 has a strong opener, an excruciatingly slow middle, and then a banger ending
Part 3 was just so boring, but it had the best squad.
5 reworked the formula to something entertaining and adrenaline filled.
@@ssj4rit the crew is iconic as hell just like Giorno’s Piano
The issue with part 3 wasn't how long it was, it was just its dumb format. Every episode doesn't feel like it had weight on the story, it was just a stand battle and then "ok we kept traveling off camera." If we actually saw them make progress on camera I woulda like part 3 SO much better. I also hated the convenient "Oh, no more plain travel, and then Oh, boat was a stand no more boat travel"
And on top of that why was there so many 2/3/4 parters, like dude not every villain needs to be stretched over several episodes.
@@squ1bl90 Manga was alot better tbh cause it was the shortest stand part.

I loved how seemingly unintentionally goofy part 1 was. Speedwagon’s expository dialogue is funny as fuck.
Goodbye JoJo!
Love it.
Best scene is Speedwagon using his hot abs to unfreeze zeppeli's arm
For me its part 6>4>5=3>2=1 (tbh i don't even remember ehat happened in part 1 and 2)
Jonathan laid the groundwork, and Joseph defined Jojos as the clever and eccentric main characters we know and love today.

It's like reverse Jhonny I guest
@@BronzeAgePepperI wonder why Araki wrote him that way. Its almost as if his father(s) were static perfect pretty boys.
I agree it's still not my favorite part (part 6 holds that spot) but everytime I rewatch/reread it I find myself appreciating it more and more.
Poor Jonathan.

It's practically the only time where he's humanized, which makes obvious sense since he isn't anymore.
-something something stone ocean scene-
Not only that, but DIO, of all people, had the utmost respect for Jonathan by the end. From then on, he compared all other JoJos to Jonathan... and overwhelmingly found them lacking.
It's good to find someone with a similar opinion, they do say that great minds think alike though 👍
@@CaylexTtoxic yaoi
Yeah well fuck Jonathan my favorite JoJo is Johnny and he doesn't have shit to do with Jonathan.
Stone ocean is so underrated i love Jolyne, she is just like Jotaro but more loud and opinionated.
tbf i agree with him on parts 1 and 2, I think they slap way harder than the community give them credit for, especially part 2. His opinions on the rest being bad are really stinky though lmao. The only thing is, I do wish that they stuck with stands being "an evolution of Hamon" that is unlocked in an individual by the arrow instead of Hamon just essentially stopping to exist.
Part 2 is my Favorite I mean it doesn't has the deepest plot or characterization but its just a pleasure to watch.
I love part 4 because of the slice of life stuff showing anything can be a bizarre adventure, even if they don't travel across the world
This, something i really loved about part 4 is how it really lives up to the name "bizarre adventure" the aesthetic and vibe of that entire part is just so comfy yet cool, and when the Kira race starts?

Boring part with basic story telling and basic characters
@@gustarddonut1452 you talking about part 2?
Part 1 is the goat for sure. It’s fucking campy as hell and hilarious.
I slept through part 1 and didn’t even bother to rewatch it. I just went onto part 2. Easily the most boring thing i’ve ever watched in anime.
Part 1 is my favourite after part 2
(Joseph even talks to jotaro about how there’s a murderous stand user on the loose)
Also, saying kira isn’t a threat to morioh is like saying Jeffrey dahmer with super powers wouldn’t be a threat to whatever town he lived in. Of fucking course he would be, killing any part of the town is still threatening the town.
@@HabitualThinker I already said that. Since Shigechi died they figured he was a stand user because Shigechi wouldn't die to some normal dumbass
There is nothing inherently wrong with having a slice of life format its just that the execution of it in part 4 was lacking to where it feels like its a waste of time which could of been better spent focusing on the villain.
Ok, but it doesn't make it less of a chore to get through if you're not into slice of life stuff.
Part 4 is my favourite , it seems so cosy and fun
Part 2 was the best. Joseph is my favorite, entertaining as hell to watch at every moment and the stakes were super high with him fighting actual gods and shit like even he was surprised by how he was able to outsmart them at times 😂

the odd thing to me is much of the jojo community becomes separated, like how some fandoms are toxic to people who dont like a certain anime, the entire jojo community often splits itself into its separate parts and people will say "I like part 5 jojos but parts 1,3,4,6 are all HORRIBLE" and I think thats strange like its ALL jojo. personally Id say I like all jojo not necessarily all parts equally but I wouldn't denounce a certain part either lol

personally i like all of em lmao, theres definitely ones i like less but every part has something i really love
I love how they agree that part 1 is a casual filter. People call it "boring" when it sets the standard. A Heroic guy fighting an unabashedly Evil guy, being the most giga of chads of all time
Wouldn't 95% of fiction be that
fr. Some people can't enjoy the simpler things in storytelling.
Part 3 is soooooo good. Im shocked
I love how they're sitting in couches instead of the usuals chairs and the table lmao.
Fits Charlie greatly
But I still think it's the best
I think I could have never said it better.
Part 6 is my favorite too.

It's just less engaging.
I respect someone who can explain their opinions without just saying "it's just bad"
I think the problem with part 3 is summed up by two things:
- It adapted 3.2 chapters per episode on average, while the rest of the series averages 4.2 chapters per episode, making it a whole 25% slower than the rest of the show combined.
- Araki pulls half the plots out of his arse and the other half from old movies he hopes the audience hasn't seen.
My favorite is part 5. I thought Giorno was an outstanding Jojo and his reserved nature added to his uniqueness. But also Bucciarati best waifu.
We see nothing about the mafia being taken over by giorno or drugs stopped apart from 1 scene at the end, which i think isnt even in the manga (may be wrong).
@@timurtheking Not a loose tie. Fugo just didn't go and that was that. Also, they don't show lots of things in the ending. The part was about defeating the boss not watching Giorno restructure the Mafia. We don't need to see that just like we don't need to see Suzie Q and Holly talking with Jotaro and Joseph post SDC
@@nuibaba280 except they show shes fine with suzie lol and the ties are wrapped. Part 5 ends with an anticlimax (and imo one of the worst endgame 'fights') then proceeds to hjave a flashback to explain the fate shenanigans then basically ends. Purple Haze feedback does a good job at revealing more of what happens
I wonder how does Charlie feel about Twin Peaks, since that was the inspiration for Part 4.

Same here, but honestly the only reason I'm not a JoJo fan is because of how much the show changed after part 2. I feel catfished by those first 2 parts, the kind of storytelling, animation, and English dubbing is something is unmatched by everything that came after them
@@linchetThe delusion is crazy
T_T Part 3's my favorite so far. I love it exactly for the Stand of the week format, and that each episode gives us a little bit of something about a character. It's strange for an exposition-heavy series, but that's what makes it interesting for me. Part 3 is also one of the few series where I love ALL the main characters. Kakyoin easily became one of my all-time favorites as well.
Part 4 is literally one of the bests
His part 1 take is exactly why I enjoy it more than the rest of the series
OKE, MASTA! RETSU KIRA DA HOE! BEEEEEEEETCH
Part 3 was my favorite. I was like oh my god when do they fight Dio?! The build up to the climax is what made me love Part 3.
“Yes! Finally! Thank you!”
oh my god! FINALLY. I absolutely love part 3. My all time favourite
Ah yes. The build up. The worst part of part 3. The first 44 episodes 🙏
I can’t wait for part 7
Tbh even though 3 was a bit long it’s my favourite part, idk the characters are just so likeable and the payoff with the dio fight is so satisfying it’s honestly one of my favourite fights in anime and I think it’s the funniest out of all the parts aswell. It's also in relation to how he's Araki's personal favorite JoJo character as well. JoJo kinda is that series that you have to really, REALLY jive with & talk about to enjoy it to the fullest. Defo not for everyone, but I do think the end of Part 6 is for everyone

In terms of personality josuke is FAR more entertaining than johnathan, giorno, and probably even johnny imo. Just because he feels alot like his own person whos relatable rather than just a quiet tough guy (not that johnny is like that hes just a little plain in the beggining)

@Yugee Alright, and nice pun.
3:13 best part‼️🙏
I loved the originality of part 1 and 2. To be fair, it felt truly "bizzaire", and from part 3 it seemed pretty... generic. Just with a twist.
Part 4 is literally the best piece of anime I've ever seen 💀
Part 3 was my favourite loved every part tho
He needs to watch it again.
Yeah, the best thing about Part 1 is that it is really tight and concise, pretty much 'hook directly to the point' kind of story
Part 4 made me love slice of life. I watched nothing in that genre before then and now it might be one of my favorites. Part 4 is the best and I will die on this hill.
