Thanks mate, and thanks for sharing this around. It definitely does feel good & I'm glad others can appreciate it too. It'll be on display at the Maleny Wood Expo if you happen to get down that way this year. Cheers! 👍🏻
I have been waiting a long time for someone to build a top quality wooden Japanese Lantern on UA-cam, and you are the man. It’s beautiful and excellently constructed. And as most have said I would like to get hold of a plan please.
Thanks Mario! I'm also excited to see the weathering, especially as the copper greens. It'll remain indoor on display for the next couple of months, then I'll be mounting it permanently outside. Happy to be back at it & hope to work on something new mid year. Cheers!
You should be proud Jamie, that's some beautiful work. I wouldn't worry about not making many vids, the ones you do are better filmed and edited than the majority of maker content out there! You are getting at least 3x the views of mine with 1/3 the subs. That's a great ratio.
Thanks for the kind words James, and I truly appreciate your support. For most of us it still feels like we're making videos because we love to share, so as long as it stays that way for me I'll be happy. Although a silver play button would put me in the cool club with Jesper & Dainsey! 😂😂😂 Aspirations.
JAMIE !! What an absolutely stunning build mate. Watching that brought such a deeper appreciation to a project that I already thought was amazing. Nothing needs to be said about your film making, you are going to go down as one of the greats! Jesper better watch the throne, he's on notice 😂 Also, I'm very glad that there was no need to splice in Dale's "It's filling with water" clip 😂 Congratulations on another brilliant chapter mate, onwards & upwards! 🍷
Oh shit... thought I would add how eerie it is, that about 12\15hrs ago my partner expressed wanting to go back to Japan & started researching/planning for our next holiday 😮 #synchronisity
Thanks Sam!!! It was a bit of a marathon, but well worth every minute working on it. Learned many things that I'll implement in future builds for sure. And to put me on even a little chair next to the great @jespermakes is a massive compliment. Cheers!
@WoodenItBeGrand look forward to your growth & watching those many things learnt implemented in future vids mate!!! Hopefully life lets it not be too long between drinks 🎥🙌
Yeah, unfortunately I only got the brief shot at the end of the video where you quickly see it glowing before I had to leave for Japan again. I'll try & get some better shots and post to Instagram when I'm back home in July. Thanks for reaching out!
I live in Japan, I love the old architecture and have been practicing the carpentry fixtures of shrines so that I can make a miniature version at home.
Awesome! I'm currently in Himeji, heading to Hiroshima tonight. The plans are mostly ready so I hope to get them out before Christmas. Consider yourself added! Thanks for reaching out! 🙏🏻
What a great video, too bad about the coyright and algoritm thing. Don't worry too much about it, good videos tend to blow up again later. The coffee was great BTW!
Thanks Jesper! And glad you liked the coffee. Might have to make a trip back to europe soon to get some more. Cheers for the words of support. It just gives me motivation to make more videos now! Thanks for watching.
Yes, I love the simplicity of many Japanese things, but the complexity involved in building them. I'll let you know when the plans are ready. Cheers! 🤗
i wish you wouldn't make such cool looking things. Galina wants me to make one of those now. I will look into it after my present project. Thank you Jamie.
I would absolutely love to have plans for this. Any chance of that? Awesome video. Thanks much.
Thanks for reaching out Nathan.
I've got a few days off at the start of May so I'll see try to put something together then.
Cheers!
Mate you must be feeling pretty good on the inside. So much wood worky goodness, not to mention hand chamferisation 🎉
Thanks mate, and thanks for sharing this around. It definitely does feel good & I'm glad others can appreciate it too.
It'll be on display at the Maleny Wood Expo if you happen to get down that way this year.
Cheers! 👍🏻
Yes plans would be great
More Japanese/asian inspired wood plans please
Currently working on another project. Watch this space!
Cheers!

Amazing work you've done. I can see why you are so proud of your lantern. Congratulations.
Thank you so much! Very proud, and happy that others get to see it. Thanks for commenting! Much appreciated.
Purty! Well done mate, that came up really attractive, will look super cool after some normal weathering takes place as well. Good to see you back! 👍👍

Yes, please sell the plans!
Thank you! I will do, as soon as they're done. I'm working on them, albeit slowly. Cheers. 👍🏻

Time to get planning. You know where to find me when you get here. 🤣

@@WoodenItBeGrand we'll check in when boots touch the pavement comrade 🫡🙏😆

Well done, It would be interesting to see what it looks like at night with the inner light glowing.

Awesome was lost after the first few steps... Definitely put the plans up for people smarter than me 😉
Cheers Romeo! Plans are in the works. Just need a little time off to compete them. Perhaps at the end of May.
Awesome work. Just amazing!
Thank you very much! Appreciate you taking the time to comment. 🙏🏻
This is an awesome project. I am definitely going to be trying the bent wood lamination tricks you showed! My next birdhouse might need a new theme!
It's easy once you get the right balance of not too much bending in one go. Would love to see what you make with the technique!
Thanks for watching!
Amazing! Just got back from Hiroshima/Kyoto/Tokyo myself! Please add me to the list of makers interested in a set of plans for this!
Awesome! I'm currently in Himeji, heading to Hiroshima tonight. The plans are mostly ready so I hope to get them out before Christmas. Consider yourself added!
Thanks for reaching out! 🙏🏻
Very nicely done. Congratulations on your lantern! I for one would be interested about those plans for this lantern you mentioned.
Thank you very much! I'll be sure to notify everyone when plans are available.
This is absolutely beautiful please provide the plans thank you
Thank you Michael! I'll notify everyone when they're ready.

Excellent video. Also very interested in Japanese artefacts, especially lanterns. Would love to purchase any plans..

Nice piece of work.
Chamferization is not really a word. II really hope u know that.
Ahhhh, but I'm spelling mine with an 's'! 🤣🤣🤣
Thanks for watching.
Beautiful 💜 Thanks for sharing
You are so welcome, and thanks for commenting! ☺️ Greatly appreciated.
i wish you wouldn't make such cool looking things. Galina wants me to make one of those now. I will look into it after my present project. Thank you Jamie.
You can do it! Just a taste of Japan for your memories.
I trust you are both well & thank you for stopping in. 🙏🏻
