Its just crazy how he sounds exactly like the studio versions when he performs
most all artists that don't use auto tune sound exactly like their studio versions
@@calebgarcia9864 100% disagree
Nah man
That drop after the scatting is still to this day one of the phattest drops ever
I'm not even much of a Korn fan and I have to agree
Lol it seems like it almost shocks her.
If you don't bang your head along to the beat after the drop, youre a robot.
Aye and Blind is still one of the best intros ever :)
No doubt. And the way carry that more aggressive energy into the final chorus they way they did is such cool songwriting.
Jonathan Davis is undeniably one of the best metal singers ever.
Jon maintains his vocal powers live throughout the show too. 2 hour sets, and his voice stays strong. He used to really wreck it live, but around 98-99, he really improved his live performances.
Word...his recovery gets my mucho respect too. and his working on his mental health..hes been through A LOT.
No....he isnt even in the top 50 lol.
@@rickyr1528 OK boomer thanks for the info
@@rickyr1528 Okay, go on list a bunch of guys who used to sound good, and wrecked their voices with improper technique, drugs, smoking, or a combination of all 3. There's not many people in metal or rock whose voice keeps getting better. I see so many of these people who were amazing years ago, get on stage in their 50s, and they just sound like garbage, or they have to pitch down their songs just to hit the notes. There are exceptions, but it's not very common. Most of my favorite Metal singers, some of them just don't have much a voice anymore from how extreme the music is. The same from hardcore punk. It makes me think of a comment somebody made "You know a punk song is good when the singer loses their voice halfway through the song". I understand that's a style choice, and it sounds great when they're young. But it's not something you can maintain.
Fun fact- Jon was still detoxing from his meth addiction at Woodstock 99, and pulled off one of the most amazing concerts of all time.
_"Sometimes I cannot feel my face, you'll never see me fall from grace."_
Congrats on over 20yrs of sobriety Jon. 🖤🤘
That’s cool thanks 4 tha info
Such a cute, adorable reaction to the beatbox 😍
For me, he sings like after crying, like if having a clogged nose, all curled in a corner, and when he screams, it's like standing up and screaming his anger against what made him cry. And I love him for that. For years, he's my favorite singer!!!
Just need to take a moment to point out that the front row is getting one hell of a show if he really went full tradition with that kilt. Lol
Right lmao
During this show he had underpants (you can see it in some other song when he lays down and start to wiggle his legs), but yeah, he did a few concerts going commando when he started to wear kilt, but later decided to put some shorts beneath it due to complaints from crowd.
I was in the 2nd-4th row (crowd movement was insane) just right of center.. he covered his bases lol
Complaints from the crowd? Those crowd were such buzzkills. I'd be happy in front row where he's commando. 👌
I’ve seen Korn live probably 8 times, amazing. The hype and energy at their shows is unmatched.
In an interview he said he never liked the way he sounded when he sings. He took lessons and in later albums he's singing more. I like both styles but his older stuff did sound more unique, but I don't know how good it was for his voice?
Another singer that's really good with sound is Mike Patton from Faith No More.
It's sort of like their bass player - is that clicking his unique style or is his action set way too low. (It's his style).
I like his voice it pretty good to me
@@TKMMA_ Oh me too, I think it's very unique. But he didn't like it when he heard it. He always wanted to learn to "sing".
@@HellcatM yeah it’s just preference I guess he just didn’t like it but most people did
@@TKMMA_ Also, now hopefully his singing is more healthy, so he can sustain singing for many more years.
I think I never saw you struggling so hard to describe what the singer does with his voice 😅
I love KoRn and Jonathan Davis' voice is so unique - actually KoRn was one of the first metal bands I have ever intentionally listen to 🖤🤘🏻
KoRn was my first 😉
✌💚🤘 (it's the only way to fly)
goes to show how awesome jonathan davis' voice really is
Korn was my catharsis music for like my entire teenage life. Watching you dance along so happily warmed my heart, I love it
5:54 her face when the scatting starts until the start of the chorus is the best!
I've seen Korn a few times & Jon gives it all when he performs . The bagpipes part of show always gives me goosebumps
Watching you try and not rock out to Korn is toooooooo adorable. My #1 favorite band of all time.
This song is soooo heavy live. I damn near knocked myself out once that breakdown hit last time I saw them live
It really hits so heavy. Videos don’t give it justice.
Seen him a bunch of times in concert and he's always amazing. Rock and metal genres in particular tend to have a lot more experimentation when it comes to techniques and mixing aspects to create something new. Countless bands, E Nomine, Rammstein, Kamelot, Nightwish, Metallica, Marilyn Manson, ect, that are all quite agile and are rather successful at it.
A very similar style and unique artist like Johnathan Davis is Chad Gray (Lead of Mundvayne and Hellyeah) if you like this guy.
Love me some mudvayne. How about Snot?
For me too, Korn brings me a lot of nostalgia, it was my favorite band since my adolescence in those turbulent 90's years so much that I mourned the departure of David Silveria. Jonathan Davis is a unique and pioneering artist in his style.
Beth, thanks so much for doing these "nostalgic" songs. The coolest thing is that you actually bring something new to these well known and loved songs. And it's mind blowing to hear there's something in common between Korn and Garbage! Love the outfit by the way. 😄 #lovevocalfry
Happy to say that I was in that crowd watching this live about 20 feet back from the stage. Killer weekend.
Me too. Got stuck in the middle of the mosh pit had to fight my way out but was still amazing.
Unexpected, but I dig it! JD is such an unique vocalist. His vocal lines are so weird, too!

So Beth, when are you going to demonstrate your screaming? Saw you took lessons from Mary Z 🔥 aaaaand ROAR!
oh cool, you got a link for that ? :)
@@wlshhamster On Mary Z's instagram @voicehacks top post instagram.com/p/CFNpbMjnWxY/?igshid=kp1agun4899x
Jon's favourite singer is Rob Smith from the cure, once you know that, you can kinda see where he got his vocal style from.
I saw Korn 4 times in one year I love them that much..🤟
Yessss! Thank you for this! Loved all the technique observations. So interesting!
Seriously enjoyed your reaction. I have been a Korn fan from the beginning. Jonathan Davis is Amazing. I so Love his sounds & growls.
I freaking love your accent and your reactions this song brings me nostalgia
This is one of my favourite breakdowns reactions that you ever done
Beth, I love how you detail all the techniques the singer uses :D
This band, Slipknot, and some of the Swedish metal bands pretty much defined my high school experience. Great vid!
If there's a live version of Tearjerker, that's a good song to analyze his vocal ability
There is actually, the versión he perfomed as a soloist
@@nicosilva8724 link?
Thanks for this comment dude, just listened to this song, this is amazing, became one of my favorites
@@nicosilva8724 he performed it with Korn too

I love how you enjoy all types of music, stay well!
First album I bought, nostalgic it be for me too. The connection of music and feelings were made. Good job Beth 😊
Great song! I really enjoy when you react to the heavier stuff. Thank you and great job!
I've heard Brian "Head" Welch say that scatting thing comes from reggae but he turned it into something creepy, evil and just weird yet SICK! So fucking cool. That song is from their 3rd album, Follow The Leader (1998). He did this even more on the previous record called Life Is Peachy (1996) with their intro "Twist". That intro is SO cool to me to this day.
I have been watching your channel now for i think 2 years and I jave learned so much . Thank you for all your informative videos .
Thank you for showing us Eivør! Instantly hooked on her beautiful style
God, I was waiting for this.
Grew up with Korn, favourite band to this day.
The way you reacted was almost as fulfilling to his way to sing, the music..... I loved watching you and hear about your analysis you looked involded and so enthusiastic!!!! 👌😋
I loved it.!
Reacts to Jonathan Davis with SFA - Systen, Forsaken, Not Meant For Me...
Forsaken is my absolute favorite. Korn also did System live a whopping one time- you should really check it out (not talking about the SFA).
Love you, Beth ❤
I've been singing in a Band for years and we covered a lot of Korn songs too. It was amazing to feel Jonathan. Means: it's not the perfection of each tone that counts, it's about transporting the passion, fear and anger he wanted to get rid of when singing these songs. I so much enjoyed 'singing' his special parts in his own language, especially in front of a lot of people who never heard of Korn (e.g. Ski Openings with 40+ people) Jonathan will always stay a huge part of my heart, I feel him since decades.
Look at “Twist”, 45 seconds of Jonathan Davis growling goodness.
I loved this reaction ♡
Love you for this.
I love in depth informative analysis like this
Jonathan Davis is such an artist. I love his voice. He's wild and so creative. I love Korn and JD.
Johnathan is an amazing talent and I love watching someone feel so moved by his voice to the point of fan girl grittiness. Not unlike myself...and I'm a 54 yr old man lol thanks for reacting to this one girl!
Jonathan Davis is in a level of his own. No one else sounds like JD. He was born to be an artist.
Thank you, i loved
Love your reactions to the heavier vocalists.
It's just really interesting to see a more in-depth analysis from a vocal expert(?)
This song is my favourite song of all time.. this is your best video Beth x
This stuff was all the rage in the late 90s/early 2000s when I was in high school and although I really disliked this stuff at the time I have come to appreciate some of it and I even really like a couple Korn songs including this tune. When he says "Go!" it's just great!
this is so well explained !!
Love your reactions.
Can you react to The Mars Volta? Cedric Bixler-Zavala's voice is amazing!
Honestly surprised this took this long. Glad to hear it hear. Good on you.
I love how much you love this.
That Woodstock 1999 performance helped me get into Korn. It was really an intense performance that showed me how good this band could be.
Great reaction! More Korn videos please!
I love these throwbacks, I had a chance to see them at the Family Values Your in 1998 but I was only a sophomore in high school and couldn't find anyone else to go ugh
I love him ❤️
JD's voice and style are two of my favorite things in music.
I've been so eager for you to take a run with JD as he such a unique spin. Just watching you light up and bounce around with it was perfect!
Yes Eivør! I tried and tried to think of who he reminded me of in making those guttural, scatting vocalisations... You hit the nail on the head! Eivør's voice is hauntingly beautiful
See, but I would really like to hear your opinion on “What It Is” from Jonathan Davis’ Solo Album.
Yes pleeeeeeaase ^^^^
Yess for sure!
YES.
Absolutely
I personally prefer Basic Needs.. BUT What It Is is top of the line stuff
I remember I paid $100.00 for PPV for Woodstock 99 and it was incredible. KoRn especially because this was right before Issues came out and they played "Falling Away From Me" & "Beg For Me" before either song had their lyrics so Jonathan was pretty much just mumbling and making up lyrics as he went along. It was awesome and then a few months later when "Falling Away From Me" was released and we got to hear the finished song it was really something special. It was also on South Park before being released as a single if I remember right.
Love the connection you made between JD and Eivør, she's fantastic!
Please react to "Rammstein - Mein Herz Brennt (Piano Version) - Hurricane Festival 2013 - Proshot".
I was there... I can still feel the emotions
She absolutely needs to watch that one!
Woot I was there thanks for bringing back the memories.
We need something from Radiohead - From the Basement!
I vote All I Need or Nude
the performance of Nude is god tier
@@Ssshmoo great choices . Videotape from the basement is my fav
@@reedrothchild7966 It's hard for me to choose because they're all phenomenal but I would say my favorite is All I Need just because it's my favorite Radiohead song. Also have you seen the electric lady version of Bloom?
Great reaction. It was fun watching you.
Amazing
Fantástico!, me encantó tu reacción y subidón de energía!. Saludos desde Argentina.
Yass Korn!!!
So giddy! Love it.
Beth you are so beautiful. I love when you react to my favorite singers.
love that youve got your flanny on to listen to this
Haven't watched the video yet, but of all the vocal analyses I've watched I've never seen anyone do Jon Davis and I'm hyped!
KoRn!! #love!
Seeing you get all giddy like that is the reason I subbed it shows the genuine feelings u get from the music
Not to mention it’s really cute 😆😆😆
You should react to "Kill you" or "My Gift to You" Live by KoRn, in the second (My Gift to You) Jonathan screams and sings while literally breaking down in the floor.
Jonathan Davis, Mike Patton & Devin Townsend - unmatched in vocal originality :-)
Clicked the notification so fast mid text that I sent "Da boom na da noom na na me na" instead of "Love you too"
You should do some of their songs from Life is Peachy he's absolutely incredible
great video Beth
Fun fact about technical proficiency, he's probably one of the most technically skilled vocalists currently alive. He doesn't really show it with Korn, especially not way back then. He didn't start really getting technical until Issues. I'd love to see a review on anything from JD's solo album, "Black Labyrinth."
love your input on all of these and making us that don't know much about vocals understand to a degree of what's going on and all the work that goes into it. But, I must say I've been looking for all the bands/singers that I love like Korn of course, righteous brothers, NIN, whitney houston, digging through a few more. I would have a few that I would like to recommend checking out, but will take me a second and will comment later. lol
But again, you seem so happy and so full of joy and curiosity and yes, very much enjoy the content.
... oh, just thought of one, have you done a review on The Temptations, my girl?
I want that "rawr" as my notification sound.
Korn!!!!! I enjoyed your interview with Oli of Archspire. I've been a metalhead for over a decade. I found Archspire in 2018. They have been my favorite band ever since. I've been playing Archspire every single day for the past 2 years.
When you said "I'm trying not to dance", I was totally waving my arms and jumping! XD
I love it! Jonathan Davis is the best.
/ showing an accurate and deep understanding; great perceptive. 💡
Muito obrigado for all the insightful information. 🤝
That break down is one of the best, when he says "GO" I was never a huge fan of the rap/rock thing but I saw these guys several times back in the 90's and was always impressed by how close there sets sounded compared to their album. Seemed like they were always opening for a band I liked better at the time. Pantera, Ozzy? Not sure but I never actually went to a headline Korn show
Korn Is one of the best bands of all times.
more classic rock reactions please, you have done any in quite a while!
I'd be curious to know what you'd think about some newer performances from Korn. Jonathan went through vocal training sometime in the 2000s and 2010s. Maybe check out Love and Meth from family values 2013 for example. Also, quick note, Eivor is not Icelandic, she's from the Faroe Islands 😊 But she could be using an Icelandic vocal style I have no idea, I'm not a vocal coach.
Love to see you react to Protest the Hero "from the sky" you will be pleasantly surprised by Roddy!
I am almost 60 and love Jonathan Davis!
I would love to see your reaction to his unplugged performance with Amy Lee of Evanescence. It was beautifully done!
You must do that beautiful acoustic Korn set
Did my time live from GCBGBs'
