Kurt actually didn't spend much time with learning to sing. He went to a lesson, recorded it and then played it back around the bad. He couldn't stop laughing. He was a heavy smoker. Should do a video or 2 on their drummer, that Dave guy.
I like that the yodels he's using makes it sound like his voice is cracking like an emotional teenager. It's part of that whole conveyance of anxiety and raw emotion
He really lays it on the line. It's somewhat the words, and let's not forget his beautiful melodies, but what he presents, really, is the story of his life all in the tone variance of his voice. There are not many singers who care to reveal that much of themselves. But then there's Kurt delivering his message so in your face, that you don't notice that the guy is basically nude. He's not afraid and his expression is so raw and honest that you cant help but love him. If you want to be loved you have to be lovable and he is that in so many ways.
Please listen to "Do Re Mi?" I would LOVE to hear your opinion.... Even if you don't react to it officially, it's said to be the last song. Which obviously gives it more weight.
Hey, Beth! Any chance of analysing Morrissey and perhaps one of the Beatles - or them all, if you’re feeling ambitious? Lol. Great vids, by the way! Cheers from Scotland! 🏴
I like Morrisey/The Smiths, but analysing his singing is a bit pointless. His voice is very monotonous and bland (which kind of makes him interesting and original as long as it is in small amounts). He's all about the unique timbre, but there's nothing to analyse.
😢😥😭We love you Kurt and we miss you, you spoke for our generation, we wish you were here!! Beth Kurt guitar playing and vocals are awesome, as a Bassist myself I find difficult to do!!
Geez... been singing this song torturously in my throat for years... in just a few words/minutes, you've taught me how to distort in my forward nasal cavity... thank you Beth... you're the best... ✌💙
He def hurt his voice. i love his melodies and songs . And of course it seems he didn't even try to sing with proper form and that affected him negatively sometimes. I mean he could not even get through this song without cracking and losing his voice in sections. You hear it at some bridge to chorus areas and at end on the last couple lines. Voice goes out . He was a great talent but as a punk rocker he never placed value on proper form. Doesn't bother me but it does bother his longevity and all It was as beth said all about "singing with raw emotion"
I watched a video of Dave Grohl at Lemmy's funeral. He told a story about meeting Lemmy (a hero of his) for the first time. He introduced himself and the first thing Lemmy said was "Sorry about your friend!" Oh yeah, do Ace of Spades! 🙂
This song is classic for sure. Besides the vocals though the one thing that stands out to me, especially during the chorus, is how the bass gets a lot crazier, or at least a lot more notey and chaotic. Seems to really emphasize the vocals even more which is just cool.
Kurts screaming songs are great and all, but the i believe beauty in his voice really comes from when he calms it down, his voice can both be powerful and weak when performing softer songs. Kurt had an immense amount of heart and soul, that that i dont think we've seen since, and it really shines when accompanied by an acoustic guitar. Not to mention a wonderfully purposeful country twang he would add. Id love to see a breakdown of any of the unplugged performances with the Meat Puppets, or any of the acoustic home demos from montage of heck.
Hello! I learnt about your channel today just about 2 hours ago. I have watched several of your videos. I incidentally, was looking for vocal coaches commenting on various musicians and for me your content is far far superior. A few of my observations which I though makes you stand out- 1. You don't pretend to hear everything for the first time. 2. You happily admit having listened to many of these songs and artists. Precisely how it should be, people like me are probably searching for someone who has heard these earlier or before to be able to comment else it's just appreciation of the songs and that anyone with half a brain cell can do. From a different uploadeder I saw a video where the presenter said she could recognize the riff from back in black, you'd have to be dead to not know that in an English speaking nation. 3. You admit where you are out of your depth. The Hu videos. 4. You actually comment/explain and give examples. 5. You are very watchable, by that I don't just refer to how pretty you are but your screen presence as well. I hope you keep it up, would look forward to more of your content. Thanks. :)
I still miss him immensely. Saw them live a couple of weeks before this was recorded. Just off the top of my head, think this was recorded in mid December for New Year's 1993-4 and I saw them in Miami, FL the day after Thanksgiving. I tried to model my voice and playing style after him. Miss you Kurt.
Having grown up in the time where nirvana was big when I was a teen, kurt probably had at most the basics of healthy singing advice and just rolled on the pure raw emotion he felt. Voice be damned, shotgun at 27, the message of his pain and how he conveyed the emotion of what he was feeling in his music was the most important thing to him in the moment. Hoon, Staley, Cornell eventually, and so many people who made that music at that time felt that passion to be willing to destroy themselves to try to get across the pain they felt.
The beauty of Nirvana was the beauty of imperfection.

The most legendary that i'll never forget him😍👍😍👍😍👍😍👍🇲🇾 one of the golden Voice that we are ever heard😍😍
Hes was a poet, like Jim Morrison , iaw Kurt many times in our town
Besides the fact that Jim Morrison was a shill, a CIA plant, and a fucking POSER then sure...
@@Renwoxing13 1. nah 2. what 3. i mean no more than anyone else, 2. lmao

Kurt Cobain! He overdosed on prescription drugs and alcohol. He then flew back to Seattle, Washington to rest up. Rock over London Rock ON CHICAGO! Lol. ..
I wish you notice me senpai 🥰
You should do a review on Wesley willis fiasco -Kurt Cobain. Nirvana. Creep show.
Can we please have some of Chris Cornell on "Call me a dog" acoustic version.
I am following your videos since more than a year, very good job, cheers!!
REACT Kemuel - oceanos !?!!
When I saw the notification I was very happy haha, I do not want to pressure you but I look forward to your analysis of Kurt Cobain :DD:D
Kurt actually didn't spend much time with learning to sing. He went to a lesson, recorded it and then played it back around the bad. He couldn't stop laughing. He was a heavy smoker. Should do a video or 2 on their drummer, that Dave guy.
Dave Grohl...
I like that the yodels he's using makes it sound like his voice is cracking like an emotional teenager. It's part of that whole conveyance of anxiety and raw emotion
I wish you could do the Beatles as there is none out there
He really lays it on the line.
The way you sang "I'll miss you" 😍
Linkin Park Given Up live at the AOL sessions please.
Chester is amazing.
Let's keep it tasteful
Love watching you fall in love with Nirvana and other 90s brilliance. I can see you starting to switch your tastes
Hey, Beth! Any chance of analysing Morrissey and perhaps one of the Beatles - or them all, if you’re feeling ambitious? Lol.
Great vids, by the way! Cheers from Scotland! 🏴
Agreed, anything by Morrissey/The Smiths
Johnny Brown Yes!!!
I like Morrisey/The Smiths, but analysing his singing is a bit pointless. His voice is very monotonous and bland (which kind of makes him interesting and original as long as it is in small amounts). He's all about the unique timbre, but there's nothing to analyse.
1:24 - I think it's really cool when he makes that high-pitched sound lol
1:36 Kurt Cobain turns into James Hetfield
😢😥😭We love you Kurt and we miss you, you spoke for our generation, we wish you were here!! Beth Kurt guitar playing and vocals are awesome, as a Bassist myself I find difficult to do!!
If you do not do the Nirvana unplugged version of "where did you sleep last night", something is wrong with you.
I love Nirvana more than life. 🖤💜❤
Kurt Una Vez Dijo: Nunca Nos A Importado La Profesionalidad
Thank you for this. Loved it, great analysis of Kurt´s power in singing.
I would like for you to react to Nirvana - The Man Who Sold the World (Live and Loud)
Geez... been singing this song torturously in my throat for years... in just a few words/minutes, you've taught me how to distort in my forward nasal cavity... thank you Beth... you're the best... ✌💙
How did he sing like that and not hurt his voice?
He didn't.. he did a lot of damage to his voice over the few intense years
He def hurt his voice. i love his melodies and songs .
And of course it
seems he didn't even try to sing with proper form and that affected him negatively
sometimes.
I mean he could not even get through this song without cracking and losing his voice in sections.
You hear it at some bridge to chorus areas and at end on the last couple lines.
Voice goes out .
He was a great talent but as a punk rocker he never placed value on proper form.
Doesn't bother me but it does bother his longevity and all
It was as beth said all about "singing with raw emotion"
He dindt. He never take a vocal lesson. And his doctor said If he dont start take a vocal lessons he may lost his voice tottaly.
I could listen to you speak all day!!
It would be interesting if you analyze/react to Post Malone's cover of this song.
I’m glad you did this one I love it !!!!
Alice in Chains "Man in the Box" live at the Moore is one you definitely need to listen too. One of the best vocal performances ever.
I always love your vision on music
I watched a video of Dave Grohl at Lemmy's funeral. He told a story about meeting Lemmy (a hero of his) for the first time. He introduced himself and the first thing Lemmy said was "Sorry about your friend!"
Oh yeah, do Ace of Spades! 🙂
This song is classic for sure. Besides the vocals though the one thing that stands out to me, especially during the chorus, is how the bass gets a lot crazier, or at least a lot more notey and chaotic. Seems to really emphasize the vocals even more which is just cool.
Try Within Temptation - Angel.. that's epic!
Please, Alice in Chains reactions. Great channel 👍
Loved the reaction and your thoughts about his voice. I gotta admit though, every time I hear him sing and perform it just makes me miss him.
I am have gay.
Voice cracked multiple times
I just say that Kurt Cobain had actually "felt" the lyrics and just THAT made how he sang it all so much more REAL and/or intense.
This song is epic all around the studio version, demos, live versions.
Hello! I learnt about your channel today just about 2 hours ago. I have watched several of your videos. I incidentally, was looking for vocal coaches commenting on various musicians and for me your content is far far superior. A few of my observations which I though makes you stand out-
Thanks. :)
R.I.P Kurt Cobain🙏
Too beautiful in this wicked world
Currents - Better Days
Great range of voice and powerful lyrics
