I’m going to stick with my 6250, it’s a little slow in the menus and searching now, but at least it’s got a built in SIM card with lifetime traffic, this seems like a backward step making you tether it to a phone. Why would TomTom do that 😢

    • @PATRYK-R1

Because of profits. Yearly subscriptions gives them a lot of money... But device is good anyway.

Unsuitable' may be due to limited width due to parked vehicles, or possibly a sharp bend with walls either side of the road such that a long or articulated vehicle may struggle to negotiate the hazard. ... Hi Jenko
Amazing review and I am think of buying as I have just got my new job as a HGV Driver.
I have a couple of questions if you can help me.
    1. I will be doing multi-drop deliveries so can I add all my locations so it can plan the route in the order I put them in?
    2. When I am putting dimensions in do I include the truck or just the size of the trailer?
    3. Does it come with free lifetime updates?

    • @asimmahmood7749
      @asimmahmood7749 2 роки тому +6

Hi everyone I bought this. To answer my own questions.
      1. You can add multiple postcodes/locations
      2. Add the total length including trailer (this one was a bit of a "duh" one for me!)
      3. Free lifetime updates included.
The satnav has been great so far even got the other drivers a bit jealous! Its fast and really accurate just make sure you're checking for updates regularly.

      @@asimmahmood7749
      Hi Asim!
Can you update us, how is it, and is it your main navigation or you have others now?
Also, they say "lifetime", but in reality the navigator either becomes obsolete after a few years anyway, or they stop supporting it. In other words, it's a bit misleading that they say "lifetime map update" (they basically should say "lifetime map update UNTIL we're supporting this device"). Marketing .... 🤌

  • @MaximC

By the way, they have it as app on Android (from Google Play).
It has truck subscription and it costs 100€ a year, or I believe it's 50€ for first year after the week of testing.
It seems being same (which wouldn't be surprising), and in some ways even better, one can use Map2Geo for example, tablet is usually faster than the standalone device, I'm assuming the app gets improvements too, etc. Plus it seems to cost even less (like if we consider say 50€ for first year, say 100€ for next, etc, in 2-3 years the standalone device will probably get updated anyway).
Also I believe, although I'm didn't verify, speedcam and traffic - with the standalone device you need to pay 30€ a year after first year, but in the Android app I believe it's included in the price.
    So there is that too.

TomTom and PSA Group need to work better, a few weeks ago at night in my new Citroen C4 the Nav wanted me to come off the M5 at Portbury Docks The road was closed northbound and wanted to take me through Clifton, I thought hang on something ain’t right here I was only one junction away from M49 so I decided to follow the lorry in front lucky I did the motorway wasn’t totally closed it was just under Portbury Junction 19 they had set up a on and off diversion. So I would have been sent into Bristol for nothing. This ain’t a dig at your review though buddy just hoping someone from TomTom reads this.

Tom Tom is terrible don’t buy that navigation !! I use to love TomTom and it was the best nav for me because of the simplicity and design of menu, but they really gone bad because they don’t have user support and they don’t listen to their customers, they really doesn’t care what you think ! On new models you need to pay for everything, and you need to have speed camera subscription, but that doesn’t matter because for example in Germany is forbbiden by law to use that option so you can’t see where the speeding camera is so you always getting tickets for speeding (for 5km/h over you get around 50-60€ and all over Germany for trucks max speed is 80km/h and nobody is driving 80km/h so you are always getting tickets which is crazy, German laws are crazy, they wanna ripp you and TomTom is letting them do it) so it is useless to have subscription for speed cameras at least for me and now because of that reason and many others i will change my navigation system to Garmin !! And so much more is bad with TomTom i don’t want to get into all of that ! TomTom is really bad and don’t buy it…i would reccomend Garmin it is much much better navigation and more professional…
