Been using the Tom Tom app with Class 2 Truck For work for a few months now, It works fine never had any issues, i think it depends what Phone u Have , Use it now all the time I tested and compared, it with the Garmin Truck, Sat Nav LGV700 and it worked the same Routes it was good never got lost....or went into restricted roads or Bridges either.
Use a tom tom 6250 with yearly subscription so interested in the app. Have found even with the correct dimensions set it has taken me some strange ways but most of my routes I know anyway. Recent night diversion at south cave the planned diversion was 19 minutes longer so took the Tom tom advice and found myself on a single track road ( wide enough as long as no one was coming the other way ) and it did bring me out back onto the main road . Not one I'd use again though.
6250 got lifetime maps, traffic and cameras.
They will be doing a lot of redesigns and road works up at Birdlip over the next few years + to make it more sensible and hopefully cut traffic jams. Merry Christmas Scott #MoreScott #LoadsMoreScott
St Athan used to be the RAF’s school of driver training. I passed my driving test and HGV3 there in 1986 and my HGV2 in 1989. You were lucky, I only remember it raining all the time I was there.

I tried the app back in August, was rubbish.
You don't know just how many roundabouts there are mate! The Europa link between Catcliffe (Sheffield/Rotherham) and Sheffield is basically JUST roundabouts, haha! this video and one about three videos back you were driving round places I did on my driving lessons last year near Catcliffe. You went round a bumpy roundabout and I had to laugh because it was just awful every time in the car.
I don't comment often, and honestly, I save like half a dozen or so of your videos and binge watch, because there's not such thing as too much Scott! all in one go!

Got to love an Avro Shackleton! Great photos seeing to Beast of machines next to each other.
That extra maps thing made me think of my old Garmin where I had to plan an international route to a foreign country if I wanted to go to Wales.
I have a degree in nursing I got my class 1 during the firemans strike, I always remember doing agency work during my degree driving from one side of brum to the other was always a nightmare and we didn't have sat nav, only az s my first real truck was a Leyland marathon.
Good 'un Scott, just a quick note about App not picking up road closed, not the fault of the App it's all down to those that closed the road informing the proper authorities that upload the information to the various Satellite Navigation firms. Our lorries use the Garmin live traffic system and vehicle tracker, which is excellent so long as accidents, roadworks and road closures are reported properly. Hope work is winding down for Christmas and you get a few more early finishes. Stay safe young fella.

I use a Tom Tom go pro 6 had it about 18 months it has route planning issues in towns which cause stress I have to check all its work the cause seems to be restrictions on side roads seem to spill on to A roads blocking the main route in the sat navs mind and sending me down dodgy side roads and under bridges best avoided it’s fine on motorways tbf

Been using the app for 4 months now. Its good apart from Its laughable pronunciation of towns and cities. I'd say its 90-95% accurate. It put weight restrictions on roads that didn't have them and in Stoke, and got a few bridge heights wrong in Oxford. But I'd say its good enough.
Try buying a map or even better maps then cross reference to gps especially if going off piste ,
Hello Scott good video interesting I’ve just bought the new 7inch Tom Tom expert truck sat nav £399 it’s great, the phone Tom Tom app for trucks is £14.99 month, I’m thinking it’s expensive the app just hope the sat nav works for some years ?
Its £48.99 a year for a limited time at the moment. Then after a year it's £79.99 yearly, bare In mind with the satnavs after a year you've still got to pay for traffic etc so you would be better off paying 40/70 quid a year and it's automatically done. Plus if you break your tom Tom your bolloxed if you break your phone your not as u can re sign back in when u get a replacement phone ..

I wonder how many user settings you'd need for switching trailers, obviously flat decks need a default setting for unladen as your cab height, but laden can vary in heights?

the tomtom go is good but it doesnt show u the builds that the only thing i get with it so u can zoom in and see the building names and see what the building look like that would be the biggest thing i get with it
I downloaded the app paid for it linked my Go Expert 7 to it but its only letting me use it as a car satnav and i cant get it for trucks
I downloaded the app went to vehicle profile got nothing accept fuel type where is the vehicle dimensions can someone please HELP 🆘 is there something else I must do to access this feature??

found this really useful so downloaded the app on my iPhone, subscribed and there is no option to change the vehicle from car to truck in vehicle profiles.. i am guessing this is only on android?

I have noticed there are some regular loads that you used to do that I haven't seen on any of your VLOG's for a long time, I'm just curious if your company no longer does them or you just don't film them anymore?
I'm thinking Pontrilas Pallets, Brum wood shavings, Argos RDC loads and loads of straw?

We don't do the Argos anymore. Straw is a rare load these days. Still do the others, work is just quiet these days. Plus I don't like to film the same things all the time

Ye it seems very quiet, I was an owner driver courier doing same-day work but stopped as this year has been terrible.
I went straight to class 1, had it a month and done 4 days of agency work so far, and 2 of them were in a rigid!
Tough times ahead, dread to think what the new year will be like.
Your company seem well sorted and own their trucks and premises so should be fine in the recession.
Does the app still show if you get a phone call, and how much subscription?

They may have finally incorporated the truck features from the standalone units (even though they personally told me they would never do this) but they have priced it unfairly and unnecessarily high. Considering its a basic code port over from their standalone units, so it cost them as little as one engineer half a days work, the subscription cost if paying monthly is over 3 times higher than the equivalent car subscription.
TomTom what are you doing?
I left TomTom years ago when the Garmin Dezl 780 was released, much better than TomTom in my opinion but I was hoping this would be the reason I looked at coming back to TomTom sheerly for the convenience of having a good truck nav on my phone, but I definitely won't be with them subscription prices.

and its only available for Android at the time of writing this, which I was gonna use my old android for never mind!
Edit: Roadords is very good contender for a great mobile truck nav and they have a FREE version (with no subscription) but its not perfect and still very young in its routing choices.

the lack of skilled labour or manufacturing skills aint new.. its old OLD news.. partly why my dad wound up relocating to CZ god must be going on 20 years now. he builds freight trains god knows what the company is now used to be powel duffryn rail, ews was in there... but bsically its all DB schenka... anyway off topic. partly he there for company needs..other part is they just wernt able to manufacture the stuff here anymore. he even grew to hate having to come over to check the work they sent here to assemble (not even manufacture) because they always messed it up this is a site that had been building these wagons for decades could not even properly assemble the very same wagon despite drawings. his words we couldnt manufacture a toaster if we were given blueprints and it was made of lego. and not gona lie I believe him.. but here we go with brexit going it alone perfectly capable of it..............
Tom Tom is terrible don’t buy that navigation !! I use to love TomTom and it was the best nav for me because of the simplicity and design of menu, but they really gone bad because they don’t have user support and they don’t listen to their customers, they really doesn’t care what you think ! On new models you need to pay for everything, and you need to have speed camera subscription, but that doesn’t matter because for example in Germany is forbbiden by law to use that option so you can’t see where the speeding camera is so you always getting tickets for speeding (for 5km/h over you get around 50-60€ and all over Germany for trucks max speed is 80km/h and nobody is driving 80km/h so you are always getting tickets which is crazy, German laws are crazy, they wanna ripp you and TomTom is letting them do it) so it is useless to have subscription for speed cameras at least for me and now because of that reason and many others i will change my navigation system to Garmin !! And so much more is bad with TomTom i don’t want to get into all of that ! TomTom is really bad and don’t buy it…i would reccomend Garmin it is much much better navigation and more professional…
