Great video, thanks! Good to see this graphics option. It's always good to have choices.
Not a problem it isn't a common knowledge and also its not easy, it took a few internal Dell confirmations on the configuration to make it happen, more to deal with the correct power supply required.
keep it up
Thanks Kanishk Malik, will do my best to keep bring information that people don't normally get.
Keep up your hard work. One day people will know the worth of your hard work.
Thanks Mohamed Suhaib, one day just one day but till then we just keep trucking through =), thanks for your support by checking in with my videos Mohamed.
That heat sink is massive, Interesting to see an OEM design from Nvidia using the traditional dual fan design rather than the fancy push-pull blower they used for the founders edition. I imagine Nvidia have pee'd some off OEM's with the power consumption on Ampere.
It is very interesting to see the OEM design of the 3080, I'm hoping to get a hold of the Lenovo RTX 3080 but now been told no ETA when it will arrive. Dell seems to be able to supply this configuration as of time of this video but don't know how long for till their supply run out.
Awesome :)
Thank you! Cheers!
But all the PCIe slots on the 5820 is PCIe3 not 4 and the 3080 is PCIe4 which means it will only run at PCIe3. or did they change the slot on that system?
Yes, it will run on Gen 3, but there is basically no fps change
Did you manage to move the video card to a different slot? In theory, it can be inserted into the 2nd slot. And you have a card inserted in the 4th slot.
I did end up able to move the video card to another slot upwards, had to do another BIOS update, and also make sure the case is fully closed too before turning the computer on else it will not boot if the case is open.
@@BsianTech did it happen to give you beep codes before you updated the bios. I have a quadro card that i cant seem to get it to boot with on my 5820
Hi, where do you plug your PCIe power connector ? into the VGA1 or VGA2 of the power supply board ?
The PCIe power connector goes from the power supply directly to the graphics card. The power supply is located at the top of the computer.
@@BsianTechon the 5820 it goes from the power supply board to the graphic card but my question was : from which connector on the power supply board ? There are are several inputs on the power supply board.
Hi I’m in the uk, when u say dell representative do u mean dell website ?
What do i do if my graphics card does have tree power plugs? The dell housing only provides two?
Then you really can't use it.
Hi.
Thanks for the content!
Can I use Dell Precision 5820 Tower with RTX 3090?
If you pop in your own RTX 3090 (as I don't think Dell sells the RTX 3090) yes you can again provided you got Dell to sell you the 950W power supplied version of the Precision 5820 Tower.
@@BsianTech Thank you so much!
Another question. Is that possible to use two 2080ti gpus on this mother board?
Thanks
Please please do a full review of this! For its high cost, I really want your opinion and review to go ahead!
Hi @krishnan0586 the Precision 5820 tower hasn't changed much and as for the Dell RTX3080 this has been beautifully reviewed by another great Aussie channel, Gamers Nexus, here is the link to that video ua-cam.com/video/_8k5PCmFm7c/v-deo.html
@@BsianTech Thanks a lot for the reply! Appreiciate the efforts and will check out GN's video! I was wondering if you can maybe help with some thermal performance, ports, etc. Sorry to push it, only if you can, because I plan to invest in one, and here in my country India, the taxes are heavy and takes more than a month to be delivered. Just wanted to be sure before investing. Again only if you can. Thanks.
Wow
how do you configure it to 3080? Im on the dell site but the configurations for the 5820 are all quadro and tesla gpus. Do i have to call them and ask?
Hi Jacky yue, give Dell a call to get it configured with 3080 it isn't a well known configuration yet =) you beat the rush.
@@BsianTech wow that's nice is it cheaper than the alienware with a 3080? I know precisions have a lot of discounts lol.
@@jackyyue8678 sorry I couldn't tell you as the pricing I get is different in corporate pricing.
@@BsianTech Damn I called dell and they said they didn't have any precisions with a 3080 lol. Did you have to buy the card separately?
@@jackyyue8678 you have to get them to custom configure it, it's not on their usual page they use for radio buttons I know.
Does the 3090 fit in the Dell t7920? Thanks 🙏
Founders won't, as it is too wide. Find a card that is as tall as its pcie bracket, and doesn't extend over. There are 3rd party designs that can fit.
Do you prefer hdmi or displayport?
I use what ever cable that's the closest to me or what is already plugged into the monitor Aaron, the lazy side of me. If I had to choose which is better in terms of speed as a tech guru, Displayport is usually faster that is assuming the HDMI port is version 2.0 and the Displayport v1.4. The displayport would be nearly twice the capable bandwidth of HDMI but if that HDMI was version 2.1 then HDMI be more of a winner. Please note your cable and monitor must have HDMI 2.1. I hope that helps.
Incorrect, if you use the upper PCIe slots, you need to wait for the computer to validate the card, it will post, beep a few times, show a yellow LED on the power button, after a few retries it finds the card and posts normally. In fact it does this with any PCIe cards including the Dual port ethernet card I installed in mine and also the PCIe NVMe drive I installed, each need to be figured out then the computer posts normally after that, for the PCIe NVMe though, all SATA needed to be disabled first, then re-enable after the drive has been configured.
It blows that Dell allows the 7820 side panel to be removable but not the 5820, bad move Dell, won't be buying another machine I can't do what I wish to, HP Z Series is on the next time up.
Hi you think TWO RTX3080 will fit and power in there ?
Yes you can do it but I don't know if you want to, it be pretty hot if you running them both really hard.
@@BsianTech hi Thanks ! do they fit side to side ? it looks really small inside..... would it be better with a bigger case such as the 7820 or 7920 ??
@@gianlucacioci3495 it's a tight fit for two cards. Length wise it is fine just that having the bottom have barely any breathing room is a worry. Also remember you can't have the side case open in this computer. As for putting into the 7820 or 7920, I am unsure as Dell hasn't confirm if they can supply rtx 3080 for then yet.
@@BsianTech I have this Workstation and you can power on without the side case... you only must press that button at front-middle with something (you will find, check the side case eruption and you will find the exact location)...
What are the dimensions of that card?
Sorry I no longer have access to this graphics card to be able to give you the dimensions of the card @Deepak Kapoor.
