    This definitely confirms to me that when I do my next build the whole machine is getting replaced. Currently on a E5-1650V2 based HP Z420 with an EVGA GTX1080Ti FTW3 gaming at 1440p. The GPU having to calculate at 1440p ameliorates the bottleneck somewhat.

      It doesn't confirm N E thing other than the obvious fact they R being unscientific & the test is meaningless, because the CPUs R not equivalent speed. The Dell can take an even faster CPU than the 1 used on the 'custom gaming' PC in this test, but instead they use one less than half the speed = lame =P Sounds like there's your 'bottleneck' LOL BTW: 'GHZ' has had literally NOTHING 2 do with overal CPU performance 4 over a decade, since so many other factors play in since the 'heat cap' limits things now instead, & using 'more cores' & 'better architectures' 2 squeeze more performance from same GHZ = kind of like how 'Engine RPM' doesn't really tell which race car is the best.

    That's exactly what I'm looking for. A quick question. I've one with 1630V4 CPU. Does "bottleneck" mean 3070TI performance is not as good as 1080TI or the 3070TI performance is limited by CPU but still better than 1080TI? If I update to 2697V4, will it be better?

    The video you linked to about removing the metal GPU bracket on the side panel seems to be a different side panel mod entirely. Was the link a mistake? Because I really just need that metal thingie gone. I'm thinking of knocking out the rivets with a punch and hammer.

    Thanks for this video, it was exactly what I was looking for. I have a 1070 now, on a 2673 Xeon, w/ 24 cores. The thing is, it’s only at 2.4GHz. So yeah, probably won’t be upgrading to a 3070ti…

    Thanks for the information. Though people can afford a 3070ti probably won't bother with a T5810. Still, good to know how CPU-demanding titles are bottlenecked by the old E5 1650 V3. It seems not that bad and that 7-year old workstation CPU can handle most modern games easily.
    I have a T5810 with an E5 1620 V4. I put an RTX 3080 FE in it. Haven't got a chance to try gaming on it so far. But I guess the results would be similar.

    if you still have this Dell workstation, try to replace the dual 6pin from the power supply to a full pin dual 8 pin and try again just take a good look into the dual 6pin Cable. and you will get it.

    I have a T5810 with a Xeon E5-1660 @ 3.30 - 3.90 Ghz. 128 GB RAM. 1300 Watt PSU. This was bought to be a server for a variety of tasks in my home network as I'm not typically a gamer. But once I saw the capabilities of this old machine, I did drop $300 on an RTX 3070 (not TI). I know it won't see its full potential most of the time, but I think I'll still have a good time. Looking forward to trying to run games like The Forest / Sons of the Forest and Stray. If I hit 40FPS and can see some ray tracing here and there, I'll be very happy.

    How were you able to do this? I have the same computer, processor, power supply and gpu and when I start a game the power trips. Are the 6-pins connected to the 8-pin on power distribution board?

    • @GreenPCGamerscom

      The 6 pin to 8 pin adapters are plugged in to the 6 pin splitter cable that is plugged in to the power distribution board.

    i hear some of these exons may be able to be overclocked/ make use of multipliers (with or without using a modded bios) how much would that relieve the bottleneck and if possible could you test a oc to see if true

    • @amdintelxsniperx

      the v3s can be modded . you essentially mod the bios to use an older microcode that unlocks the turbo on them you cant go crazy but you can get max turbo on all cores

    Currently I have a t5810 with an e5 2697 v4 and gtx 1060 6gb and 64gb of ram…
    Just so if I upgrade my psu to 1300w and shift to a 3090 and an E5 2699 v4, would that create a difference or just bottle neck even more considering that it’s an old model now…?

    • @GreenPCGamerscom
      @GreenPCGamerscom  2 роки тому +1

      The bottle-necking would be quite strong with an RTX 3090. The T5810 doesn't have the Processor/Memory IO Speeds to keep up with the higher end RTX Cards.

    Interesting look like it's a good thing I upgraded to 2667v3 :) would be interesting to see if the lower number is due to cores more than design of chip.

    • @ArifOctovian
      @ArifOctovian 2 роки тому +1

      The CPU usage hardly goes above 50% even in 1650 v3 so I don't think it is due to number of cores

    • @karl02756
      @karl02756 2 роки тому +1

      I'm fairly certain its down to the instructions on the cpu that the newer gpus use to interact with it, if they aren't present the gpu then has to use older instructions that are slower i believe, + it can be different for each game so you're definitely right in the sense that higher cores might not always be better

    This isn't a surprise that there is a significant bottleneck. Try this exact test with a Radeon rx580. This system only has PCIe 3.0 so a PCIe 4.0 will not have enough connectors to run it to it's full capacity.

    • @Deathrape2001
      @Deathrape2001 Рік тому

      The bottleneck seems 2 B the CPU, as though they both have similar 'GHZ' that is NOT what makes a CPU fast these days. The Dell will take a CPU with more than DOUBLE the passmark score of the 1 in this test, making it faster overal (??) than the 'custom gaming system'. 'GHZ' is like 'RPM' in an engine. It doesn't really tell U which race car will win. There R way more factors that make a CPU faster than mere 'GHZ'.

      it's the opposite man. on 1080p clock speed is more important then 4k gaming.

  • @rscottr
    @rscottr 2 роки тому

    That's disappointing. I have the same CPU in my T5810 and was going to order a 3070ti now that they are available again. Might just stick with the 1660 super.

    • @rscottr
      @rscottr Рік тому +1

      @@Physics072 I ended up getting the 3070ti. It's obviously an upgrade, but I think it is bottlenecked by the CPU in some situations. I also found one performance test that caused my PC to shut down, probably from power demands. Also the case can't be closed without modification. Overall I recommend a different path, but I am trying to make use of what I have.

  • @speedtuff

    Most of this is avx version 1 vs version 2... the instruction set for the cpu are much more important then the ghz of the processor... don't be fooled as another v1, v2, v3 or v4 xeon could do much better then this even with just avx 1 even with a slower clock speed. I would bet the 2667 v2 gives much better fps.
