This is no small job and you made it look easy. Might as well have put in new brake pads as long as it was apart. Very well done and I’m sure this took hours.
i only had like 11k miles on it at this point so no need for pads they still had LOADS of life left. It did take a few hours to do and dry time. thank you for the kind words
Although it looks like you were pretty careful- it's generally not a good idea to let the heavy calipers hang from the brake lines like you did. Twisting up a cheap coat hanger to support the caliper and take the weight off the brake hose and fittings is how I've always done it.
absolutely. I never let it hang by the line ever as i know it damages. I made sure it was always propped up and secure. Also removing the hose retainer bolt allowed slack in hose too for more play. good tip on the hanger.
Looks good, seems taking them off could’ve saved you some time and made it easier. Thinking about doing mine when I change pads/rotors. Just taking them off if I do
Here’s a very stupid question. Where did you put the jack when you jacked up the car? You put the stands on the jacking points; it looked like you went in between them but there’s nothing solid in the middle of the car- is there? Thanks.
Sorry meant to post the offset. It’s 35 offset and no no rubbing. I’m at stock height but I know of many guys with this exact setup lowers with still no rubbing
Plasti dip wouldn’t work though. It would but 1 brakes get stupid hot which plastidip wont hold up too and second plasti dip would absorb brake dust and so would look like poo in like a month.
@@Flatline_WRX oh really I’ve never had any of these symptoms On my focus ST. Probably depends On driving style and application. The paint always durable and handled the heat pretty good for me.
Ummm ima say like 3-4 hours. That’s NOT including paint cure. Paint cure time included around 16-18 hours. You want to let the paint sit overnight at least. This paint sets pretty quick but still needs proper time. Really if you could do it and let it set 24 hours then put back together is probably best but I didn’t and it still worked perfect.
Bro, i gotta start working out...those biceps, so beautiful 😭😭
Slowly getting back tho my peak. Then bigger lol
Looks great! Your video is exactly what I was looking for! I’m planning to paint my calipers on my VB next weekend, and this was a huge help. Thanks!
heck yea glad you found it helpful

For sure! But taking them off then requires bleeding and such. But I agree that if you are changing everything out you might as well take it all off.
Now that it’s been a year how has the paint held up?
Still looks perfect. I can just spray with pressure washer and right back to looking new

No such thing as a dumb question. I jacked up the pinch welds one side at a time and placed the jack stand on the same pinch.
As you see in the video when I jacked up the front the rear come with it. I then went to the passenger side and did the same exact thing.
Love your wheel setup. What are the rims and tire size?

Looks amazing at stock high. Thank you.
Anytime
I would put plasti dipped it red haha 👍🏼

I reapplied every 1-2 years definitely but that’s easy for me haha I might pick up a 2022 wrx GT dealerships are selling them for invoice 🧾 in Florida
Really? That’s awesome. I had issues when I used it so never used it for brakes.
how long did it take you roughly to do all 4? from start of the project to finish
