GE GTW485ASJWH Washer Agitation Noise - Normal?
Вставка

- I just purchased this GE washer from ABT and the agitation noise is REALLY loud... is this normal? Other videos Ive seen on youtube of other top loading newer GE washers didnt sound this loud. GE's own video of "normal washer noises" didnt sound like this either. Should I get this replaced while I still can? Just seems crazy to me that they'd sell a washer like this that is SO DANG LOUD. Thanks for your help.

I got this exact model free from a weatherization program and it’s making the same loud noise . It was brand new out the box to.
Mines been doing that noise since I bought it, 4 years now it still does this noise except the agitator isn’t turning anymore.
Yeah just got mine from home depot today. I just turned it on for the first time and it does this. People are saying it's normal others disagree. Hmm
Iv got one and it’s load also, I’m just glad it’s not in the same room with me
I have a whirlpool cabrio washer when it spins its loud
Have the same problem. Mine is four years old. Just started last week.
Any tips on what to look for?
NOT NORMAL. Bottom base of the machine is very thin. If brought into home with a dolly it causes bottom to rise just a bit which in turn then comes into contact w drum of machine thus causing the rubbing sound. If in warranty call to have fixed, they will push bottom piece of machine back into place which gives the drum the space it needs to operate without hindering its motion. Again that sound is NOT normal, don’t let them tell you it is. You didn’t spend $700 $800 on a machine to listen to it grind. Little secret these companies don’t want to tell you...if machine is still under warranty they will try to avoid sending service call as it comes out of their pocket! Once out of warranty they do the opposite and try to send service as it costs you the consumer $$$$$ and it is quite profitable for the company.
Seems they dropped the bottom altogether as ours that was delivered yesterday is wide open underneath.
There's no bottom on those ge washer. The older ones have a bottom
GE engineers and executive level allowed this?
Things that spin?
I’m Like Washer🎉❤
That's normal. Unless its making cricket noises, im pretty sure its ok and its agitating correctlym
Same issue with me dang it g.e. Only 2 yrs old
How to start
Sounds like a vibration on the agitatior teeth grinding from wearing out, our machine exact same type has never mad that noise befor at almost 3 years old
I have the model right under this one, and yes those noises are perfectly normal. That grinding noise you hear every other stoke is the gears in the upper part of the agitator catching while the lower part moves around.
I contacted GE and they confirmed the noises are NOT normal... at all. After they sent out a GE technician to repair the machine, he couldn't complete the repair because he didnt have the right parts. Annoyed and without a washer... I contacted ABT where I purchased the washer from and they FULLY REPLACED the washer for me which I think was awesome customer service. They just came and installed the new washer and it is MUCH quieter - as I expected the washer to be. So, if you're watching this... and your washer sounds this bad... its broken.
Hi, thanks for sharring this because i juste bought mine2 weeks ago and its sound the same exept that your seems to have like a rock bouncing around at the beggining...but its stops a few seconds after.Well yeah sounds the same but without the rock...i keep having this feeling that its not right. I also find that it dosent clean my clothes so well...i notice that on the dark clothes, they still have deodorant residu ... and dosent look clean overall. now seeing your vid makes me wonder even more....what do u thing i should do?? thanks
jayjman1234 Did you find out what part went bad on the washer? My washer is making that noise.

It was the entire washer. lol, I would guess the drive motor. Sorry for the late response. I'm never on here
I thought at first it was the start of the imperial marsh music🤣
They delivered mine yesterday and it sounds just like the one above, that's why I'm here. So I guess it's normal
I just bought mine today brand new and it makes the same noise.
How can u ppl think this might be normal lol geez
The pulleys underneath are scraping against the bottom metal plate. Typically this happens when the washer has been moved with a dolly. The dolly lip pushes the metal upward. Just push the metal back down or softly knock it with a mallet. Create some space for the machine guts to move without hitting the bottom plate.
Also the moving rod might still be present in the body of washer. It has to be removed. Check this out:

Not Normal I have this exact washer
I just got mine and sounds the same. It can’t be normal 😅 washer is next to my room 😢…😂
Just got mine ser up a couple days ago makes this same noise
Please tell me what it is my machine doing the same thing making the same exact sound
Just bought one brand new it’s also doing it lol
GE needs to produce better quality products They are way behind other manufacturers
Its normal
I have one identical and I think the water pump went out..idk it won't allow it to fill
Mine doesn't stop beeping. Don't know what to do
Mine sounds just like that
Yes this sound is normal. (That grinding sound that happens on every other agitation stroke is the agitator dogs. But you don't need to worry about that sound.)
That is not normal.
We needy
It shouldn’t make that grinding noise
Can it be fixed? What is the exact problem
Sounds like a bearing platform issue
I don't know
It is normal
It means that the Moter to the agitator broke and is spinning but scratching the inside of the agitator
How did you fix it
@@abdeljaber3246 handy man or you can try to replace the agitator housing
The grinding or clicking noise is usually the mode shifter and/or Clutch Assembly and Spring. By all 3 for $60-$70 bucks.
I got same one today same thing
it is not normal I have the same washer and I have had it for 3 years it does not make the sound
It's prob older then this or it got remade to not make the sound. Whirlpool washers do it too
Clutch/splutch
cute cat i have one
Mine doing the same
The usual high-efficiency non agitation washer..😑
it's not normal cause it's grinding so you need to fix it
Return it if you just purchase it no bueno No👎
I have the same washer and it does that. So, it's normal?
No, its NOT normal. I called ABT and GE. GE tried to send out a guy to fix it and I think he made it worse so ABT agreed to just replace it. The replaced model doesn't make this loud annoying noise. So... if it sounds like my video - its broken.
@@jayjman1234 I don't know how it is not normal but whatever.
Does anyone knw if this brand has a lint trap, if so where is it
I noticed today that my Beryl is Rusting, it’s might be two yrs old now
This is a washer, not a dryer, dummy😅
this is normal
oh i thought he had a cat sorry
Were you able to figure it out?
Yea it was the main motor. But then that replacement motor died in a year so I bit the bullet and bought a Speed Queen and haven’t looked back. Built like a tank.
@@jayjman1234 that sucks. By how much does the main motor cost?
@@nunyabizness9045 I’m not sure. I called GE repair under warranty and they brought the parts for free
@@jayjman1234 bummer. My warranty just expired 3 months ago
@@nunyabizness9045 of course… 😩 Seems like they have those warranty periods figured out well for planned obsolescence.
