    Once I learned how to get in the slot and at the same time, rotate properly, it was like magic. Man, it's such an awesome feeling once you get it. You must get it to a point where it feels natural and the only way to do that is to swing at home, a lot. I hit foam Callaway balls in my yard and those white, plastic balls you can get for $2 at Walmart and that has helped sooo much!

    One line i really miss in the golf simulation is the line of the belly. I cant find any info on the relationship between the chest and belly in the golf swing. There is rotation in the legs and hips, belly, and chest/arms. The relationship between the belly and chest i think is monumental to understand the golf swing, and i would really love some data on that! Ergo, when do you unwind, do you even unwind? Etc

    • @AthleticMotionGolf

      You mean the core movement basically ?

    • @themusketeer9458
      @themusketeer9458 5 місяців тому +1

      @@AthleticMotionGolfyes, i mean, if you rotate and look at your chest, the chest have rotated further thsn the belly button. On the way down, WHEN should the chesy overtake the belly button in the unwinding process? After impact? Just before? And also, the same goes for the belly button vs the nether parts😂 would be a great reference point for understanding the winding up, and unwinding process of the body, to actually get power, vs letting all that core strength go to waist, by braking with the core through impact, or some other weird thing. Tilting is basically what controls the belly button vs the nether parts portion i think. 😂
      I just hit my pw 130m and very happy with that, but my swing speed is 81mph with all clubs, not jusy the pw.. my 5 iron is also 80-85mph.. i am doing something very wrong somewhere, and i am convinced it is the core rotation i am doing wrong. Impact, path and face, all is very good.

    Superb content! At 8:27 (club at parallel), notice the upper-body (UB) to lower-body (LB) separation. Hip line is open ~27 degrees, while the shoulder line is closed ~27 degrees. That ~60 degree separation is a key variable for pro golfers allowing the core muscles to be engaged for more power. Hips drive first (rotating and shifting to an open position) before the shoulders, arms and hands.

    The gears video, with the chest arrow, helped me more with the backswing. My chest arrow stays below level and greatly effects my ability to turn and moves me too far off the ball. Just getting the chest more level on the backswing makes a huge difference in my rotation.

    The light in the chest idea works but it doesn't help me to generate clubhead speed. A more dynamic visualization is to picture a flame thrower centered in the chest. When I use this image I can mentally see and even hear the arc of destruction generated by the turning of the chest. The best way that I've found to get my chest moving with some aggression is to focus on turning the left and right shirt seams simultaneously back and through.

  • @FitFast8

    Just realised this is the missing piece to increase speed for me. The chest extends upwards at the end of the backswing, so simply undo that extension in the early downswing. Previously I have been lowering the arms but not doing the opposite in the downswing by immediately and actively lowering the chest. Just been passive. Definitely feel I can get quite a few extra mph of hand speed by using muscles of torso to drop the chest combined with extending and lowering the right arm. Now I know what pulling the rope feels like and feels very powerful! Cheers.

    Isn't the initial downswing movement of the chest/ironman light a direct result of the lower body motion? Lower body pulling the upper body down?

      Make sure you are not over flexing the knees in the setup. Crucial to bend from the hip sockets.Turn the left shoulder down and the left knee down. You do not want to turn level or you will miss two ways. If you turn the hips properly using the feet knees and hips while keeping your arms passive you should have sufficient leverage even with a shorter shoulder turn. Good luck. Hope this helps. Practice in slow motion and hit short shots with the feels Mike and Shaun discussed!

    As you have said previously, the lead shoulder's first move in the downswing is DOWN..
    so is it not true that then the shirt buttons are essentially moving toward the trail leg, pressing into that leg and thus using the ground under that trail leg?
    I havent heard it explained that way, but is that correct?.
    OR, does the chest press into the ball, first move down? What's the feel?

    • @AthleticMotionGolf
      @AthleticMotionGolf  3 роки тому

      No, you would not want to feel (or get) the pressure increasing into the trail leg starting down. It should be 50/50ish at the top, then move into the lead leg starting down 👍

    Great and useful content as always, fellas! I have a question regarding something Mike mentioned when you two were discussing the takeaway drill when you hooked the club into the crease of your right elbow. Mike mentioned that many will take their right elbow "further away from the crease", essentially creating separation from the right elbow and the ribcage. Is this different from right arm lift? I've understood that we need right arm lift in the backswing and that it does not need to be pinned in close to us (you were in no way saying it needs to be pinned, those are my words haha).

    • @AthleticMotionGolf
      @AthleticMotionGolf  3 роки тому +1

      Yes, definitely don't want to restrict the lift. He's speaking more on the "starting the lawnmower" move of pulling the elbow behind you. That's something you do want to avoid👍
