    What a super clip, thank you. I’m a cat 1 player with a very inconsistent long game. After years playing I only just learned that all my inconsistency and left pulls is because of how I rotate my shoulders and maintaining the shoulder plane through shots....game changer! Great advice in your clip

    Hi there...
    First off many thanks for the videos you post. As a beginning golfer they have helped me immensley. I was able to profit very much from your tips and explanations. The quality of information in your videos is great. I also watch other golf videos and as a simple viewer I have noticed a difference from your videos to the others. It may be that you want this effect. I just thought I might mention it. When you are discussing the topics I miss you "talking to the camera" or to the viewers. It feels more like a discussion between the two of you. It is my impression that more interaction with the camera would help the presentation of the great tips and information you are presenting.
    I'm looking forward to more videos and once again Thank you for your work.
    Best Regards
    Jack

    I don’t remember this one from a year ago but I’m glad I ran into it as the eureka moment for me was the shoulder bump comment. This is just the reference I have been looking for to create the proper delay and downward motion required for a powerful effortless golf swing. Can’t wait to implement the thought at practice later today. It should get me to where I need to be without thinking too much about it; especially with driver. Great stuff as usual guys and thanks!

    As I build the exercises especially for senior golfers this with a possible slight adjustment for back foot position and possible slight sway only using this one hand swing drill but also actually thinking of a feel of the back hounded pulling you back is important. I will be referring to links of examples for this hip and shoulder turn dimension and referring to yours amongst others.

    Best explanation/video out there. Perfection!!! Many backswing shifters I see get a little weirded out because at the top (when done right) they feel they are "leaning left" at the top. Once they embrace this its amazing how solid and consistent they start hitting it. Keep up the great work guys.

Shoulder level pointing about 4-6 inches off target line, lead arm pointing 1-2 inches off target line, trail upper arm parallel to the ground. Please do the shoulder video! I have bad rotator cuffs and poor posture from office life - my shoulders were drooped forward which destroyed my consistency.
    I finally figured out how to set my shoulders in their socket and hold them rearward, made a world of difference.

    the issue with pointing the stick to the ball is that its pretty much dictated by where in the upper body you place it. im turning and the stick is at shoulder height the stick is pointing in front of the ball 1foot, then i do the same motion but the stick around elbow height then the stick is pointing to the ball. i like what you said that its a myth when it comes that it has to point at the ball. you guys are truly the best.

    Ooh..I just had an aha moment about at 13:40 and I think people need to understand this, as I didn't before. To have the OPEN chest shoulders, it needs to be understood it's NOT so much open LEFT..but more OPEN FORWARD. Am I correct? More forward, but not too up, and not too left either..or you stay in flexion..same with too up but reverse..lol. I think the whole open concept is completely misunderstood, now it makes a ton more sense. Especially with the ironman drill and the emphasis on getting back down in flexion without fear of head drop..Thanks guys.

    In your other video about shoulder planes you guys said you "don't add anything, you don't take anything away." This was in regards to lead side bend/tilt. In this video you mention adding tilt as you turn. I get that shoulders pointing at the ball is too much (you did say that in both videos), but which is it? Do we add tilt as we turn as stated in this video or do we just feel like we turn flat like when we standing straight up (as you demoed in other video), or is it like this video where when you stood up after turning with tilt and you clearly where tilting back toward the target (4:42 mark)?

    I've dealt with early extension and casting most of my life. I've always has issues in the downswing transition which that first movement regarding the slightly left lateral movement, opening that left knee, and slightly increasing flex in the knees on the downswing. You guys said something that gave me a lightbulb. You referenced almost a slight left crunch (very slight) to help drive the left knee down, and around. I started thinking of a visual que. I imagine someone standing right up against my left side and I need to give them a shove using just my left shoulder and left hip. if I just leaned left or turned my left shoulder, it would move them but there wouldn't be much force behind it. Instead, if i think about the most subtle and powerful way to shove them, it would be like fingerprint rolling my back, VERY similar to the feeling you guys talk about with fingerprint rolling the buttocks. If I finger print roll my right side of my back to my left side of my back and wanting to give this person a 'shove', I'd have to plant my left leg a bit into the ground, do the back roll, and allow myself to lean to the left slightly. This move only lasts till my hips and shoulders are parallel to my line. This is just the swing thought that is in my head in order to implant that concept....hopefully it makes sense.

    I’ve taken a few lessons from Pro at our country club. He literally asked me why I’m not shooting low 70’s. That’s just after a couple of lessons. He took me out on course and played for holes. 3 birdies and an eagle. He left me with this question to ponder...I reckon. I’m 16 handicap and honestly, I should be shooting low to mid 70’s. But I think I allow my brain to interfere with my game and swing when I’m not worried about winning.
    Can you perhaps be able to give us some tips on how to mediate this?

    • @AthleticMotionGolf
      @AthleticMotionGolf  5 років тому +3

      I would have you play 5-10 rounds where you are trying to shoot your best score charting each shot after each round. You will see a trend of why you aren't scoring better than you think you should. That's where to put your effort. You have an idea, but I don't think you know why yet.

    • @williamtaylor5193
      @williamtaylor5193 4 роки тому +1

      The comments above are good. I would also add that you need to play close attention to the nature and direction of your misses when you are feeling the heat. A big part of shooting mid-70's golf is being able to keep your tee shots playable when you are under the gun. If you are blowing 3-5 tee shots out of play per round, then you are going to struggle breaking 80. You may need to exaggerate some moves to avoid hitting it out of play under pressure.

    Just found out why I am damaging my shoulders -thought it was from repeatedly hitting the turf. Its from scrunching up at the top. saved my game.

    Do you think the head movement of Bernard Langer is wrong. He tends to have his stay way back through the shot. He moves off the ball and then never moves forward with his head? Seems like a swing that has won for a long time. That being said thanks for the video. I think I found a couple of things that will help our crew.

    One thing here that shouldve been mentioned, since I see so many golfers pushing their left hip closer to the ball instead of letting their right hip move back like the pros do. The first drill, the old school drill, actually encourages that move if you dont know hot to move the pelvis correctly. I know Shaun and Mike knows this, Im just pointing out an important factor in this sequence.

    Is Gears system able to measure scapula retraction/protraction/depression/elevation? I think that would be awesome information to have. If not, maybe a video discussing it would be of tremendous value. I assume you prefer them to stay depressed throughout the swing with right scapula retraction in backswing, and left scapula retraction on follow through. BTW, total fail on pronouncing Monte's name! Ha!

      I thought he would've changed his name by now😂
      The info is captured on some of those parameters, but they do not yet have it displayed in the software. We're hoping that happens in the next major update.
      And yeah, I think we should def do a video on it. Poor shoulder movement is rampant in the am ranks and it's usually just from a lack of awareness.
      Yes, we like depressed with some trailside retraction followed by lead retraction👍

      @@AthleticMotionGolf You should suggest the name change to him! One last question, at the top of backswing you guys typically measure just over 90 degrees shoulder rotation for your pros...but what is the average torso rotation? Thanks again, and keep up the great content!

      @@dukecienda2654 Would have to pull up all the data, but at impact the difference is in the ball park of +/- 20º. IIRC I don't think it's similar to that at the top, but don't quote me on that.

    Wow another thing, so the head drop in the follow through is as a result of the left shoulder crunch and not squatting down at the knees 💡🤭

      Correct again. We're going to do a video on this soon, but the pelvis lowers VERY LITTLE in the downswing, way less than an inch.
