    OMG. This is one of the most significant pieces of information I have seen. This totally transformed my concept of the backswing. This is kind of buried among all the information out there. As you say this is a game changer!

  • @wallstreetoneil
    @wallstreetoneil 3 роки тому +11

    I found your channel 2+ year ago and made this change to my swing - where-in I only move the club in my backswing with my BACK (no arms) - and then have an additional 'tiny' bit arms feeling at the very end. I went from a 12 handicap to 5 almost immediately. I've helped many guys on the range with this very idea - and I can agree with you, I have never come across a single range practicer that turns the club with their back - it's ALL arms and way too much arms. Your 8 inches vs 20 inches is a perfect stat to quote going forwards. Awesome!

    This was an all time Emmy winner. Importantly, you confirmed something I discovered in my swing several months ago. I had started to rotate my rear hip so that it was (the feel) directly behind my rear heal on the backswing, Then my magic move was to feel a squat (Sam Snead) to unwind the hip allowing me to forget the arms altogether.. .This produced great ball contact and moved my divot in front of the ball. I had noticed as a by product (and now your video corrects my thinking that this by product is anything but): it is the most important product. I have never hit the ball as solidly and cleanly. The result is that keeping the arms within the torso on the backswing (as you point out) which is critical, can be accomplished by the rotation of the hips on the takeaway. You guys are fantastic and really simplify what otherwise is an almost impossible task to master -- Golf.

    Crazy that this is 1) such a common issue 2) so critical to a good swing, and 3) probably the last thing people are working on. No wonder golf is so hard to most people. Great work guys!!

    You did another longer instructional video on this a while back that included really detailed comparison of that lead arm angle to the upper body throughout the swing, comparing pros and ams. One of the best vids you guys have ever put out! 🙌🏼 As I’ve lost a little flexibility with age (52) I’ve fallen into a bad habit of making a “fake turn” to get that deep hands look from down the line. It’s caused a flip at impact and high ballooning iron shots. I knew I was doing it but seeing it in 3D finally made the light bulb come on! 💡 Thanks for this post!!

    I have been reading and watching golf instructional material since I first grabbed a club when I was 10. I remember taking my dads golf digest into the backyard and swinging the club into positions I saw in the magazine. I have this sick feeling that I was already destroying my swing at 10 years old. This stuff you guys put out is so eye opening and in some cases depressing because I feel like I have to almost forget a lot of the info on the golf swing that I thought was correct. Unfortunately, at 53 yrs old i don’t have the flexibility and strength I had when I was young. However, better late then never. Keep the info coming, guys!

    Great video! When I shortned my arm swing to keep it within that range of motion, I immediately felt the absence of the bounce/rebound I often get from overswinging my arms to gain depth. I also felt the club drop or shallow in transition naturally, partially because, I think, that I was able to keep my arms more relaxed going back since I didn't have to try and muscle them into a deeper position as I normally do. This really helped my understand the backswing better. Thanks, guys.

    This was such an eye opener to me. I thought making a full turn included BOTH the shoulders AND the arms across the chest. Big mistake! This is the stuck move you hear about which makes it so difficult to get back to impact without standing up. You have to early release in this scenario. When I tried to keep my arms in front of my body it didn’t feel powerful at first because I wasn’t used to turning my shoulders fully which you need to do. Plus I had an inside takeaway which kills this move by dragging your arms across your chest. You can see from the overhead views in this video there has to be an opening/gap between the arms so you can bounce your left arm against your chest on the downswing. Once you master this move with the re-centering
    move the AMG guys coined your ball will fly off the clubface like a rocket. Thanks Fellas…. you guys are the best!

    Oh boy this is hard work! So much easier to use the hands and arms and hit 200 balls a day. I used to do this with scores anywhere from 70 all the way up to 90! I found a good way to practice this is to wear many layers (5) which keeps the arms less mobile forcing you to get power from your turn. Its amazing how much more time you feel you have in the through swing.I would add it helps immensely to tilt from the hips properly at address.

    Great Stuff!! This is eye opening to say the least and pretty much described my takeaway (throwing the arms across chest) and the feel I have the rest of swing and especially at impact (flippy/slappy).. as a former baseball player and a handsy hitter I’ve always struggled with the start of golf swing because I manipulate the club so much with my hands plus starting from a static position is difficult (coming from a rhythm timing based start)... always good to see what is “actually” happening instead of what you THINK you see... Now to go figure it out!! Thx again!!

    Great video! If every golfer adhered to this and matched their arm swing with their turn handicaps worldwide will plummet. Wish you could make a hologram of these motions and put your body on a screen with a pro golfer similar to your body structure and have it signal you when you exceed any of the parameters in the swing!

    Love it... now... is there a similar correlation on the release of the club? E.g. How much of a problem is drawing the right arm (for a right handed golfer) across the chest post impact? Seems that using that trail arm to release the club instead of coordinating good rotation through impact can cause a great deal of trouble... I'd love to see that half of the swing on gears... e.g. trail arm release and rotation... Thanks!

    Love this I struggle with collapsing my arms. Don’t do it on the practice swing but do when there is a ball there. Any other tips on this would be great.

    Amazing amazing content... Also could you do an angle that shows what a golfer sees while looking down at the ball I. E from the back of the head down, that might give a first person sense of where the arms etc are in the swing.. again superb stuff
