There are some servers I think kAN even visited one once but it was pretty laggy but now with the splines it should be way better so maybe there will be more
tbh I feel like it would make sense for there to be a setting where if you're playing multiplayer where you can decide whether you want everyone in your company to share money or for everyone to have an individual income per person.
kAN if you put the spline laying tool into "Circle" mode and set the radius to 0m, you get perfectly straight track. Two straight pieces won't "snap" to each other in "circle" mode (like when you place a patch after removing a section) but in those cases in you snap the two sections outside "circle" mode the track will be straight anyway. Couple that with the alternating left and right switches makes simply lovely shunting yards. Loving the video's so far though! Subscribed for RRO, stayed for everything else you do, keep up the awesome work!
I use Circle mode like that to measure out track splines to short lengths, just to avoid any incidents like how Kan found himself in at the start of the video. Lol It also helps with consistency when trying to line parallel track up for switches.
2:20 Tip On Re-railing: You may have figured it out already, but it places whatever you're re-railing at the point your cross hair is looking at on the Tracks between the rail(that is aim your cross hair at the Sleepers between the rail). It attempts to center the car/loco/whatever on that spot you're looking at. If one end of the car/loco/whatever is going to collide with another on the track already, it will NOT place it. Just look further down the track away from the car/loco that's blocking it.
Ooh man I was just playing this before work today, now I get to watch a video while I'm on break :D 6:52 I had a bad derail right before I left the game this morning, and when I put them all back all the handbrakes were messed up and I could not deal with it so i spent the next 20 minutes fixing that lol
for the shunt yard, I personally would use the cross junctions to make a moderate middle section all parallel then attach them to the switches. that would also let you delete the curve section of the track without effecting the straight section
As a former fireman on Primarily D&S No 473, I appreciate all the historical banter, :D cant wait to see what you guys do, My railroad looks like crap, but shes mine! As a question for Hyce: do we know if the K-28 class is gonna make it into the game? asking for...uh...a friend.
I agree with kAN here, the breaks on the carts should align… I’d love an unedited video of just shuting the carts around to put them in the right orientation, although I guess it would probably take like an hour and be absolutely useless x)
I'm mixed. Just as long as I have a brake handle facing outward on each end, I'm happy. It means I can set the brakes on both ends of the train then unhook, as opposed to having to to run a car length to set a brake handle. Otherwise, brake handle placement doesn't really matter to me. Having two handles next to one another back to back would actually be beneficial, since you could set both at the same time without having to run across two train cars. lol
Also I really hope they add mod support, there's some narrow gauge trains, and other tracks I would love to add if the devs don't end up doing them in the future, there were some cool ones in trainz 2006 sim, I used to play that all the time back when games were still on cd lol
kAN discovering how splines work at 11:30 IIRC it's a 4th-order equation behind the mathematical scenes, that minimizes the energy in an elastic beam between the points with the given pinning angle options. Way back in the day, they used to be physically modeled by drafters with actual pins and thin balsa-like wood strips. They're super important in vector artwork, so "inking" tools are a great way to play around with splines and learn to intuit how they work and look.
Double head the porter and the 'zuma till you can afford something big. Also, the Montezuma is 100% the cutest engine, although I like all of the old Baldwin's in the game.
one thing to note is that i think a set of certain engines, like a group, would do great. Most railways sometimes gather the same type of engine in a group, much likely due to their mix-traffic capacities. maybe gathering 5 of the bestest engines would be great, but i don't know, i really don't know.
Once again, I'd like to suggest a bit of story for the game. Get the railroad built up to a certain point, (say, once all industries have a track to them) you unlock a telegraph and message board at the Freight Depot. This tells you what materials are available and resources needed at each industry. Then a special delivery arrives at the freight depot: a fireless locomotive and stationary boiler. This unlocks NPCs to "automate" loading and unloading freight at the industries. You as the engineer have to establish an "Inbox" and "Outbox" siding, as well as where the fireless loco's boiler will live. But once this is in place, NPCs take over. Then the telegraph board changes. Instead of "84 logs and 53 cord wood at logging camp" it now says "9 cars of logs, 6 cars of cord wood". Now you drive trains, instead of cranking cranes! 😊
I´d love to see that as well, but since the game is gonna be only the "wild west" narrow gauge we might not see that. But from what I heard in the future there will be mod support so it will probably come at some point, but it wont be vanilla...
@@kuttispielt7801 I know I’m saying in the future when they have more options they can make more maps that could have separate train styles like American standard gauge and European standard gauge.
I actually figured it was Central, Rio (Grande) and Pacific. I live in SE Colorado, along the BNSF mainline here, so a train line running from the midwest, going south to Texas and the Rio Grande, as well as west through the Rockies toward the PO isn't that uncommon.
I have tied a break, Yea, 2-3 free spins, and then a wall, and that break sets on the other side of that wall. No club, then your standing on the cross of the wheel and jumping/pushing.
Does anyone know how this mechanism at 3:11 works in real life? I was unsuccessful in finding a video on how this works. At 3:42 they mentioned kick switch but I couldn’t find any video on how they work.

aircraft lifespans are nuts. It's pretty much, if there's a use for it, they keep it flying. You talk about the 737's, but they are young. Douglas DC-3, first introduced in... 1936... are STILL being used by airlines today. HECK aircraft that were used during the DD invasion and Operation Market Garden are flying passengers and cargo. the Basler BT-67 is a refit DC-3 that are modernized with glass cockpits for arctic use. I have an idea for a yard for train assembly So make a hill at the back, then push all the cars to the hill so they all hit eachother in the platform to assemble the train
So I am more of putting this in kans chat as the rail roads online devs monitor it as well but I have gotten better with the new splines how ever I can no longer place strait track which is a huge issue.

"Central Rio And Pacific." "Or CRAP from short." Beautiful.
Really enjoying this series, the combination of kAn practicality and Hyce's nerd knowledge comments is fun AND educating.

What I'd recommend doing with the logging camp, if the main line does start to clog up there, is make a passing siding around the loading tracks.
this is honestly cute seeing the zooma at work "me here making the zooma pull 9 log flat cars and 2 greg flats up a 2% grade"

Fun fact for making shuntyards. You can create bolt streight track by having a 0% turning radius in circle mode
10:08 Betsy is Betsy
We used to call it pushing points with the 3 inch model rail road I used to volunteer with 😁
They need to do loading similar to how they do it in Mud Runners, where you can control the crane.

you could distinguish Betsy and Montezooma as "Little 1" and "Big 1"
At least it isn't Mudrunner levels of cranes. If you ever play that game, self loading with cranes is a pain. But a fun kind of pain.

It’s a sad day when Betsy gets beaten in a tug of war. og Betsy will be missed
well on the point on the number 1 now you got a porter 1 and a regular train 1
You needed someone just loading car on to logs and a train going back and forward like two set of cars. So it would be ready when the train comes back
I think being able to add NPCs for automating those tasks would be a big help.
I feel the general jist of my idea for a name made it through, a witty acronym.
