will it ever be possible to make tunnels ? im thinking with the 500 meter segments it could be easy to go where it have to exit and it could automatically carve the tunnel. should not be cheap ofcourse XD
Kan! At 7:28, you were doing the old method to make the switch go that way. If you look in the top corner, you can switch what end of the rail switch you want to control. This way you can just place it and not have to do the whole mess of building out then using a cross road and then placing a switch.
You should also bring in Dapper and Kosmo to run trains, while you lay the next tracks, so that they already generate money for your company, while your tracks expand ^^ Make it a four player map, like you told, you´re intending in older videos ^^
So glad to see this series back, looking forward to great content, and looking forward to learning new things with having an expert on board too. Choo Choo!!
*IMPORTANT* list of things to know about the beta version of RO! 1: If you press 8 or 2 wile building switches, they will do something used for aligning them to other switches. 2: *THE TRAINS DO NOT GO FASTER* , it's the old trains on the new splines, but it's still the old rail collision system. 3: I recommend building a max radius of 40m, you can go more that that but it will become spicy going around them full speed. 4: after you get a lot of splines made, the game will start to lag. (you won't have to worry about this for a wile though) 5: for the pin and link you don't need to move your mouse up/down, it is now right/left click only.
Really nice ep, waited for a long time for another Railroads Video. A nice name could be "Double Heading Train Cooperation" or in short "DHT Co-op" or "DHT Corp." depends on what you prefere. Hope you all have a nice day and I will enjoy the next ep of Railroads Online ^^
Do I want to see more of this series? DO I?!! 2 engineers talking about their job is awesome dude! I know nothing about engineering but I love it. Learning it like this and seeing a chill game playthrough is basically my 2 passions combined together. Please talk more about engineering while you play. This is such a chill game you can talk about anything while you play and you can fill in those long strips of railroad going through mountains, valleys etc by just talking about your jobs.
The talk on mechanics and tension was pretty interesting. Though this is more thermal variance related than tension related, it reminded me of that story about the concord jet. Because of the temperature the plane's body got up to in flight was so high the structure of it expanded in flight, but the cabin was thermally isolated so it didn't. The end result was up near the cockpit there was a place where a gap would be allowed to appear as the plane essentially stretched, but when they landed it would go back to normal. Naturally one of the crew members once put a hat in the gap, and said hat was stuck when the plane landed.
I gotta say, I love the conversation you and Hyce have lol Hyce nerds out about steam, and then kAN starts to catch on and then understand. Its so much fun to watch haha
kAN, while Hyce was explaining locomotive metallurgy in the beginning-and while I was trying to think of a name for this railroad-I just realized how you come up with such perfectly straight and curved alignments. Never seen you do it before and it’s fantastic !
The return of this series is genuinely one of the most important things to me at the moment and I’m so happy it’s finally happening, keep up the videos Kan!
I love how we have kan a heavy gamer and hyce as add on commentary explaining everything with his knowledge about trains, it really adds so much im so excited for this series
I live in a real old logging town in the Adirondack Park in New York. The logs were chopped and floated down the river to the lake that the river spilled into. Once they were in the lake, they were hauled out, milled, and loaded onto a railroad to be shipped all over the state. The town doesn't do nearly as much logging anymore as it is mostly a tourist spot now, and our railway has been inactive for a long time. One month ago, the first locomotive transit from Utica, New York -> Tupper Lake, New York in 42 years was opened for the inauguration of the newly repaired track. I sadly missed the arrival of the locomotive, but I was ecstatic to hear that there are hopes that this will mark the beginning of a regularly scheduled passenger transit into the town. Prior to this, the town hadn't seen a train enter since before my parents' were even born. Hopefully this will become a regular occurrence that I might share with my son. I've never even been on a train, except in museums. I look forward to my first train ride being shared with my child, just as people hundreds of years ago in this same town got to experience with their own children.
The weights on the wheels are counter weights to the rods connecting all the wheels. Also engines don't run backwards because much of the engine will not work if run backwards, things like oil and water pumps, as well as valves letting air in and out and when the spark plug and fuel injectors fire. If you disconnect the pumps and the valves you could run an engine backwards (though being able to switch directions would be difficult)
Awesome to see you back to Railroads Online again! I got to know your channel through this game and have seen every single episode of that playthrough. Can't wait to see what this series will turn out to. And good luck with dealing with Hyce' track laying skills. That's a duesy
I find that circle mode helps a lot with making good track and if you run into a switch on the opposite side it will automatically switch to to the side of track that you're on so you don't derail and you can change the link point on the switches themselves
Actually kAN, some car engines can go backwards too! Single piston engines work like you said, they start in one direction, and then continue to run in the same direction. Running the engine backwards also gets harder as you add pistons, because of ignition timings and how 4 stroke engines work. However, 2 stroke engines also exist :D, but to be honest, they kinda are similar to steam engines. Especially on old tractors for example the "Lanz Bulldog" has a 2 stroke single cylinder engine and even though it has a flywheel, it "can" run backwards, or even just oscillate without even making a full turn! ~

I hate to disappoint, but the speed limit on the engines still seems to be in effect. I haven't gotten my hands on the class 70 yet, but if the Glenbrook is anything to go by, the speed limit still feels like the same as before the spline update. As said a long time ago, the high speeds can still cause some weird physics to happen, but it got toned down a lot with the new splines. That's my experience with the new update anyways. Still shows a lot of promise once the kinks are ironed out. I personally cant wait for when everything runs on the tracks as smooth as that beta test Betsy did.

It was no joke back then! I watched your old videos of this game back in the day, and actually looked you up again because I was thinking about getting back into the game.
Toggle Circle Mode on to lay perfectly strait track(assuming you didn't add a Radius). When you toggle Circle mode on it'll give you the length of the spline you're currently building. You can use that for measuring out distances between track. Save's you lots of time from laying Cross over pieces and picking them up again. You can also Toggle the switches Attach point now as well(cycles between all three), no need to use the old fiddly lay multiple switches and cross pieces to get the spacing you want.

I feel llike it's somewhat telling that when I got my hands on the new tracklaying, the first thing I did was build a yard with over ten lanes. I happen to live near one of the largest marshalling yards in the Europe or the UK, now no longer used.
Fun fact: if you were driving some old 2 stroke engines up a hill, and you had too much load, the engine could reverse the rotation and the vehicle would speed up down the hill. It was a big problem for tractors at the time, 2 stroke cars were much lighter, and 4 stroke cars usually don't have this problem. But it's fun knowing it could just have happened

So I was just playing around and I realized that if you’re going to run a train into a switch that’s flipped the wrong way and you’re going to Derail it auto switches So yeah that’s cool
Something that will save so much time when building shut yards is the ability to switch which point you want to place a switch from so you won't have to do the switch trick, and and also it's been awhile since I played but if I remember correctly you can use circle mode to create perfectly straight track so you won't have to use switches or cross pieces too make straight track anymore.

I started watching this series a few days ago and the game looks really fun! I was worried you wouldn't be making more and I'm glad to see that you are
good sir, i have a challenge for you all on multiplayer monday, 1 person builds a truck to tow a trailer, another builds the rear steer drive, and 3rd builds a ladder with water cannons to put out a fire, using a city map, try to get there and put it out before fire engulfs the whole thing. more of a team work effort than a comp, but still be fun to see how it all connects and works out,
My favorite train is a steam train called the Big Boy (there are multiple and one is still working but my favorite is the one in the national train museum in Wisconsin) and my dad's favorite is a steam train called the Allegheny (only one remaining) and it is in the Henry Ford museum, they are both locomotives referred to as "supper powers" that are basically really big and powerful steam engines ("super powers" were discontinued when diesel trains became a thing) the Big Boys were bigger but were better on flat land, and the Alleghenys were smaller but more powerful and were meant for mountains. But overall, thank you Henry Ford for protecting trains, cars, furniture owned by people like Abe Lincoln, old farming equipment, and even entire buildings He put in Greenfield Village right next to the museum (Henry Ford was the guy that made the model-T, and of course there is at least one in his museum) I would definitely recommend checking out both the National Train Museum in Wisconsin and the Henry Ford museum, lots of cool stuff in both.

So I was just playing around and I realized that if you’re going to run a train into a switch that’s flipped the wrong way and you’re going to Derail it auto switches So yeah that’s cool
I actually thought about this game today and wanted to watch it So happy that this game is back!
I have missed railroads online so much! This made my day!
So excited to see this series back! Great work :)))
Leeeeets GOOOOO! Been waiting for this forever. No idea why I like it so much, I don't even really like trains.
That said, you ever considered doing co-op Satisfactory with your buddies?
Wooooo I have been dying to see more RRO, I love the content keep it up!
I LOVE the RNG added to the seires just by having Hyce join you.

Like the game, love the chat guys. Pls keep up this style of game play and real life train chat.
I love the drops of the lingo and the nerdy stuff
You should name your Railway the “Golden Line Company” because of the new autumn season!
I find it fascinating how different railroads and railways are

good sir, i have a challenge for you all on multiplayer monday, 1 person builds a truck to tow a trailer, another builds the rear steer drive, and 3rd builds a ladder with water cannons to put out a fire, using a city map, try to get there and put it out before fire engulfs the whole thing. more of a team work effort than a comp, but still be fun to see how it all connects and works out,
So glad your back on this
Though that fill is way to much after the sawmill I would change it all to stone wall
I love how this entire video is both of them nerding out
