1 cup milk
1 cup sugar
1 tb yeast
1/3 cup melted butter
1 egg
Tablespoons of salt
1 tablespoons of vanilla extract
1 cup pumpkin purée
1 tbs of cinnamon
1 tbs of nutmeg
5.5 cups of flour

Update: I made these doughnuts and they turned out great. The taste is good but the texture is not that fluffy, it's more doughy especially after re-kneading the leftover batch of dough. In addition, instead of using the sugar mixture coat, I used a glaze made of sweetened condensed milk, icing sugar and cinnamon and the taste turned out really good. I just wish it was fluffier.

I finally made these. As my first Fall outside of the US in years, I appreciate this as the pumpkin craze is simply not a thing down here in South America.
Mine turned out very good! Unfortunately I couldn't find canned pumpkin puree, so I went ahead and roasted a Pumpkim and pureed it myself. It looks a bit more wwtery than the canned version, so I found that the pumpkin taste was lighter, next time I'll put in more pumpkin. For the filling, I skipped the wipped cream, I basically just used pumpkin, cream cheese and sugar, and I love it.
I'm so glad you enjoyed them!! :) Yes, the pumpkin craze gets crazier every year here, it seems! I think there was a pumpkin puree shortage this year, I had to go to 7 stores to find some this year!
Next time, instead of using more homemade pumpkin puree, strain your pumpkin puree in a cheesecloth until it resembles the consistency of store bought pumpkin puree. If you use more homemade pumpkin puree without straining it, your dough will become too soft and difficult to handle.

So I made this, and with the excess dough I had I made a braided loaf and a french style baguette, and all I can say it I definitely prefer this recipe as a baked bread rather than fried dough! Still yummy tho. :)

Oh my god! I was thinking about combining pumpkin with donuts, and I even though of cream cheese filling, I searched everywhere for a recipe! I am so HAPPY that I found this video! By the way, would be ok to just bake them after they proof? Or would I need to alter the recipe to do that? I currently have no way to fry them😂
So glad you found my recipe! You can absolutely bake these, too. Let them proof first for about 30 minutes.

Hi! I'm so glad you enjoy my recipes! :) If you want to make plain donuts, you can actually omit the pumpkin and make the recipe the same way but you'll need a lot less flour. Add enough flour to make a really soft dough.

Sure! :) Just shape the doughnuts first and place onto a baking sheet to proof for about 30 minutes. Bake at 350F for about 30 to 35 minutes, until they're a rich golden brown color

Hm for some reason mine turned out somewhat plain tasting- could’ve just been me using too much flour while rolling out the dough. Could I add a 1/2 cup more pumpkin purée to the mix next time?
Sorry that happened! Yes, you can absolutely use more pumpkin or add more spices. If you add more pumpkin puree, you will need to add a bit more flour. Add enough flour to make a really soft dough

I honestly haven't tried using coconut oil but it should work :) Also haven't tried baking these but that should also work! :) Enjoy! I would let the doughnuts proof for about 30 minutes, then bake at 350F

They should be great for a few days if you keep them covered but they're best the same day while they're warm! :)

Made these yesterday. Came out great. I used two toppings: A Cinnamon Sugar topping and a Pumpkin Spiced Cream Cheese Glaze topped with Walnuts. Delish!

Pumpkin puree is already cooked so it should be completely safe to eat :)

Hi Are you going to let the donut rise a second time All the recipe I read always rise twice. before cook the donut
You can let them rise for maybe 10 to 15 minutes. I find that the dough rises significantly in the hot oil and doesn't really require an additional proofing.
