    In Germany these are called “Krapfen“ or “Berliner“ and are traditionally filled with rosehip puree, which is delicious. It’s my favourite filling.

    I love watching you Jemma! I love watching your passion for baking! And your recipes... Oh my goodness don't get me started. I so badly want to try this recipe but I'm afraid it will ruin having them elsewhere and become dependent on me to make them. Perhaps I can make that sacrifice.     To cover the bowl with yeast dough, I always use a shower cap from hotels. This bowl was a bit wider than mine. It should work with most smaller bowls, and you can reuse the shower cap many times until it rips.

    So growing up in the east coast. Apple Cider Doughnuts during the fall are my definite childhood comfort, but Bavarian Creme doughnuts are also a favorite of mine.

    These look wonderful!! I LOVE your lemon curd recipe, I always have a bit in the fridge for a pick me up! It might be a really good filling for these doughnuts! Or maybe just for dipping purposes 🤔...anyway thanks for sharing! Love it!

    In Australia we generally have these freshly fried with the jam already in the middle and coated in cinnamon sugar 😋 my absolute fav! You can buy them not hot but they are so much better hot and ready to burn your mouth off 😂

      Sucks to be in your part of Australia depends on the bakery and donut king sells the jam doughnuts coated in just white sugar same with coles

      I discovered that the Coles jam filled one's are delish when air fried for a few minutes- so good. Their cinnamon ones are also good in the air fryer 👍😉

    So delicious and puffy. Here in Croatia, the aroma is rum, and they are filled with apricot jam, and sprinkled with powdered sugar.

    I have missed your face lady! My husband's family call these Bismarcks and they used to order them special from Marshall Fields for Christmas morning. Since they no longer make them I will be making these to surprise him! Thank you so much for sharing! Much love ❤️ from Texas!

    Made these with my Grandchild Nevaeh they came out perfect - within an hour there were non left as everyone eat them 😊❤

    There's a lot of calling out for recipes of this with other flavours. But actually, this jam version is the classic one that you get in the UK everywhere. Its the most popular and at one time it was the only type of doughnut, its a British classic. So its really cool to see a recipe for it :)

    Interestingly enough, ive noticed when i reroll the scraps, the second batch actually turns out better in shape than the first. For some reason it seems to like that extra handling.

    I love raspberry and lemon filled Donuts, with glaze but sugared does work. There was a specific bakery that carried them but here I have to order them, I'll get donuts with glaze and coconut. Chocolate glazed with coconut is one of my favorite non filled, but I don't always find that one either. I absolutely love apple fritters. So I came up with one donut that was apple cinnamon Tres Leches filled with maple glaze

    Perfect timing Jemma. Easter is coming and doughnut sound great however who needs a celebration to eat doughnuts. Back in my early life I was a baker and the man who schooled me on the art of baking taught me a great trick on making the hole in the doughnut. Insert a pair of kitchen scissors and open the them 2 times, then rotate the scissors a 1/4 turn and open them 2 more times. Tada! Love the channel

    How long can they sit out for? Wanna make them the day before and serve them tomorrow.

      I would always try and serve on the day if poss. They are amazing in the day and just ok the next day. If you are doing the next day though, keep the fried doughnuts in an airtight container and then fill and sugar the next day 😉

      I can confirm that I made this the night before serving and they tasted amazing! Best eaten while fresh and warm but honestly fool proof recipe and I used biscoff spread, custard, jam and Nutella as fillings! With a bit of sugar and cinnamon coating 🤤

    They look amazing. In Germany they´re called "Berliner" or "Krapfen" (big debate- it depends where you´re from in Germany). They are available all year, but traditionally you´d have them around February/March when it´s "Karneval" or "Fasching" (same big debate 😀). I know them with Strawberry jam, but of course any jam will do the trick. I once heard that in Vienna, they´re only allowed to be called "Krapfen" when there´s apricot jam in it... but I don´t know if that´s really true. Anyway, great recipe, funny video, love your work :-) Cheers

    I have always loved crullers. I think I’ve seen them called French donuts somewhere as well? They’ve always had a unique texture compared to other types of donuts-is it eggy maybe?

    Please, please come up with a chocolate fudge filling. I used to buy them from a store back in Georgia when I was a kid. The store is no longer there. I haven't been able to find a single donut shop in L.A. that makes them. Yet. I would love to be able to make these at home for my kids.😁

    When we first came to Canada they called these Bismarcks, my kids loved them. 😍 Now they're just called jam donuts as you called them. 50 odd years things change. 😊

      Never heard of that but no doubt why the long piping tip especially for filling donuts and pastries is called a bismarck tip.

    In Germany we fill these "Berliner" with Advocaat (eierlikör - EASTER!), they get a lovely yellow icing with choclate drizzle on the top. Custard (Vanille Pudding), chochlate mousse aso....
