The Samsung S95D OLED is Samsung's flagship 4k TV for 2024. It replaces the Samsung S95C OLED and sits above the Samsung S90D/S90DD OLED. Like its predecessor, it uses Samsung's unique Slim One Connect Box to house its inputs.

Have been using s95d for one month. Rtings is right, direct huge lights will raise blacks. But in 99% of use cases matte is far superior for viewing in the daytime. Unless you have a window right in front of the tv, matte looks better, because there are no visible reflections and artifacts. My TV is exceptional in the day and at night.
Glossy is better if u have dim lights or blinds. IMHO people should buy s90d if they want to watch in dim light. For day+night s95d is better, due to the anti-glare finish.
In daytime setting, during dim scenes, I could see myself on my previous TV along with the visuals. No such problems here.
It's beyond me how they rated this with a worse reflection score then the gloss screen. I have been using it for about a month also. I will take raised blacks in an area where normally it be zero black and just a perfect reflection
Its just a joke that such expensive devices does not support all video and audio codecs/formats that are in existence or even only the popular ones.
Also ads are just a no go.
Not supporting formats is why I will never buy a Samsung OLED. It’s just pathetic. That and their abysmal after sales support.
i dont think it matters to anyone as samsung sells the highest amout of tvs faaar faaaaaaar ahead of lg and sony @@egocd

@@egocd If youre an audiophile and those formats are something you actually have the hardware setup to make use of and its not just a case of you making this a tick box exercise then fair enough. But lack of Dolby Vision would be a poor reason to dismiss a brand if youre buying at the high end.
There's just too many limitations. It's an exceptional TV, but I'd rather have a G4 or a BRAVIA 9.
Uniformity on LG panels is absolutely terrible though. It's something I can't get over how bad it is. Impossible to get one without tinting.
And for the 83 inch model the TV only goes up to 77 way too small
@@DM-rc4yu I've never had this issue with my LG OLEDs, but ok.
Thanks again for another TV review Abby, I love your style!
Thanks for a very even-handed review. Your channel has gained my trust. Many other TV reviewers act more like shill sales-people.
Our whole goal is to be as objective as we can so that _you_ can make the best choice for yourself! Thanks for watching and we're glad you enjoyed the review! 😄
I like that you buy your own tv set and dont have to depend on manufacturers and therefore be biased

LG G4 I think. Not 4G
@@kenny2604 Thanks.
Lol, silly pick, chose the S90d insted and save tons of money.
Many thanks for your in-depth review. At current prices, the Samsung S90D costs $600 less than the S95D, and the RTINGS side-by-side comparison of these two models shows that they have nearly identical performance (In fact, RTINGS ranks the S90D slightly BETTER for "Mixed Usage", and I agree with that assessment). If I were buying a Samsung QD-OLED this year I'd choose the S90D and save myself some cash. I admit I'm a real fan of the S95D "One Connect" box and I wish more TV manufacturers included that feature in their models, but my frugality still persuades me to opt for the S90D...
An extra 440 nits brightness though on the s95d
Looking at what you've already reviewed, and what's in the pipeline, this is the first year since before COVID that feels like a normal release cycle for manufacturers. Nice to see.
the antireflective part also affect the image quality... coating or not
I really love this TV. For me the main reason I considered it was the anit glare matte screen. It works amazingly well. Our tv was almost impossible to use during daylight hours and we had a lot of glare from lights in the evening as well. No problems at all daytime watching and we basically have all windows opposite the tv. We had recently taken down all of our blinds during a window and sliding door replacement and we decided not to put the blinds back up because the room looked so much better without them. When we had the blinds down during the day it helped but without them like I said nearly impossible to watch enjoyably. No issue at all though now with the new tv. From others comments it sounds like they might be missing the mark on some expected features but none of those things were important to me. The display looks amazing and the anti glare works way beyond what I expected I was hoping for a decrease but honestly it is 95% gone in my viewing environment.
We all know that Samsung usually squeezes out its televisions the first month when reviews are made on UA-cam channels and after references like Rtings release their review videos. Samsung releases an update cutting performance to what the TV can REALLY handle without "melting".
Btw. the issues with black outs on HDMI are an issue since many years. I had it with an Q95T! Like many other users as well. I don´t think it has to do with bandwith and more with the hardware issues of the chipsets itself or it is a glitch / bug where it switches between RGB spaces.
Why? For whatever reason only using RGB Limited / Black Level Low on both, TV & device, was a solution. I personally can´t trust One Conect Box models, because it is a lottery and in my country chance is high that you get black outs. Maybe different produce lines vary here.
3:10 This comes from way back: My UE49KS8000 from 2016 (which I am still using) is having this issue, too. I don't think a firmware update would fix this anytime soon, as this is a 8-year (!) running issue apparently.
Watched and liked to help the algorithm for you guys. Love your work. No idea why I keep watching TV review videos 😂
Hahaha we appreciate it greatly! 😄 Hope you keep watching 😉
how this calibration works?
just purchased on here in brazil
It's absurd to spend this much on a TV and not get dolby vision because Samsung doesn't want to spend a couple bucks on a chip for it. No way.
I don't think that's the reason. Based on my experience, Dolby Vision is fantastic if you're after a pure, cinematic experience. Samsung, being Samsung, thinks they can do HDR better, so they choose to forego the limitations set by Dolby Vision. In some cases, I think HDR10(+) looks better. In others, DV is superior.
Once you realise why Dolby Vision was made and what it actually does, you realise that its not essential in recent high end TVs and doesnt necessarily equate to a better picture. Dont be fooled by the marketing hype, Stop the FOMO does an amazing breakdown on the topic:

You definitely will notice the persistence blur of 60hz gaming. It's very pronounced in certain game with lots of scrolling movement. BFI fixes it, but the TV must have enough brightness to make it usable. Sounds like this set might be able to.
Rting is the best and I’m glad they’re getting more recognition for tech reviews
Hi Abby 👋 curious as to what you think of the s90c I bought one recently and it arrives may 8 im excited to receive it and learn all it's features but wanted to hear what you and everyone are rtings thinks of it I've watched your video on it but I'm still not sure on some things for example it says the 144hz is only for a PC connected to it but I've heard people use things like PS5 in 144hz? would love to hear the fine details on this if you have any insight thanks!
You can't use 144hz with the PS5 because the PS5 does not support 144hz. It's only for PC since the PC is able to send a 144hz signal. No gaming console supports 144hz.
@@DeffecX thanks for the confirmation I did find out it supports 120hz after receiving it and the geek squad got it all mounted and setup I honestly love it so much if I could marry it I would 😂 best 1,500 dollars I've ever spent I don't feel the need to ever buy another TV unless this one like spots turning on or something and even then I would probably try to repair this one before buying a new one that's how much I like it
I´ve seen the TV in store and i not really like the low contrast look with lights on the screen. On the other hand it looks clean and reflections are really muted. But colors and contrast look more flat compared to glossy screens. I think it is really if you have a bright room with some lights and then you get OLED black in a dark room. But i heard that you see some type of glow around objects because of the finish even in a dark room. But i can´t say anything about it.
w review, no matte coating tv for me..
Perhaps there's an explanation other than "we want your TV to break so you'll buy another one," but I wonder why they don't incorporate some semiconductor metal plates like in many smartphone coolers. The fan is silent, and it would work great underneath or behind. The same goes for laptops. Where I live, it feels like 39°C this year, and generally around 31.9°C. It's very annoying to have to keep the environment cooled all the time or use a specific fan for the screen (my electricity bill appreciates not using the AC for 16 hours a day in more than one room).
Looking forward to seeing your review on the LG G4!
Just don’t hook up to the internet and the ads don’t exist, just use an Apple TV!
Hi. I have been using your provided information long time and been greatly thankful. I love the work you do. But i have a question what i have been wondering for while... How much does light sources cause OLED TV´s and monitors lose in contrast. I have heard that even from different sources that its something what OLED´s do and your said same thing with matte coating part. More precise reflections part of review. Where samsung coating eats away contrast for removing some reflections. Is this purely coating part of issue or does all tv´s/monitors suffer this in some aspects. Like i write clear questions in line.
Do all TV´s or monitors tech like OLED, QLED, LCD lose contrast from light sources?
Do Light sources all tech equally or its more harmful other tech´s or coatings like Matte vs glossy or LCD vs OLED etc.
How much does TV or PC monitor lose contrast from light sources hitting screen?
Can this be measured or even speculated scientifically?
Final question is this. If all this is true or be doable. Should this be one form of measurement you do in reviews.
Again. I love the work you do. Hope you could understand what i wrote.... English language is not my native language...

Is the thermal throttling temperature controlled or look up table? I mean can you prevent it with external large office fan?
Only if you stick the fan inside tv's fanny! 🤣 Or if you live at the North Pole! 🤣
i like how everyone talks and shows us those color triangle graphs but no one explains how to read them
So, you expect them to explain how it works in every video review? Be serious. Just look up a video o4 article and learn about it.
Hey, how do I check whether it's a WOLED or QD-OLED Panel? Is there any settings where I see the panel type?
Use your phone camera, zoom in on the pixels. If theyre arranged in a line its WOLED, if theyre arranged in a triangle its QD-OLED
Cross this one off my list. There were too many gaming complaints with the s95c due to the HDMI gbps. I’m waiting on the Bravia 9 before making a decision but I’ve always went Sony and likely will again in 2024 unless the Bravia 9 is a flop
It is a flop, it's not using an OLED panel of any kind. I highly recommend waiting next year as they'll likely switch back to a QD-OLED panel.
Matte finish ruined the experience for me, I don't know if i should upgrade from lg cx or wait another year
Thanks for the review! Now that I've seen it my eyes are set in g4 only.
Our G4 video review will be released soon! Keep your eyes peeled 👀
You have to worry about BURN-IN a lot more with QD-OLED's !
I'm not even interested in buying this TV but I like to see what you guys are up to
This reminds me of when smartphones first came out they were all small then they got bigger and bigger and better and better TVs are finally doing the same thing I wish the price would drop of 98 inch TVs that's what I really want the other TVs are too small for my living room
2:10 40 Gbps is not enoguh for 4k144 in HDR as that requires 44 Gbps
Not necessarily true. It’s situational based on device and content. Either way TV has display stream compression so it doesn’t matter anyway
I kind of wish they made a 98” model for home theater use as no other company is making a current gen OLED TV that big rn, but it’d probably be like $20K
The answer is no- unless you want the anti glare. I stared at this $3400 tv and a $1350 open box S90C at Best Buy. We watch all these comparison videos and look at rtings, but when you see them in person (albeit not the best situation at BB), it’s rrrreally hard to justify spending 2 additional thousands of dollars, for a tv that really doesn’t look all that different outside of the anti-glare- which.. appeared to take away a little contrast to my eye. Some people just want “the best”, but really you’d be hard pressed to know the difference with some of these TVs if someone brought the lesser model in your home and told you it was the most expensive one.
Even some gaming monitors support Dolby Vision.
The EOTF tracking is too suspicious coming from samsung, i wonder if it has measurement detection algorithms again, wouldn't be the first time..
Probably, Samsung wants it all. They want to sell as many tvs as possible to the masses, that's really all they care about, same with their phones. That's why they put the anti reflective coating on this tv. They also don't want bad reviews from people that no what they're talking about.
@@garthstomer i have a qn95b and they broke g-sync with a firmware update, lowered the brightness, tv started bluescreening my pc when switching inputs and never fixed it, and they always get away with it, i’ve spent hours being treated like an 8-year old in their ‘customer service’, gave up

Have the s95d at home, and the quality is really excellent. The matte looks also extremely professional, and causes no problems during day or night. Dolby vision support is not needed since this tv is already very bright with true hdr. Nobody will know and see any difference. So is it better then the g4....yes in many ways. And no problems at all with overheating, no problems at all with the one connect box
Thank you. Have a question, how cant the Apple Watch Ultra able to do 3,000 nits peak? when NO OLED TV can do 3,000 nits peak brightness?
Tiny screen, so much easier. Also, the image is probably only very temporary.
Also, 3000nits might be marketing hype, have independent testers hit this figure?
Abby is a entertainer. Staying tuned.
I have S95C and I must say it is more than bright enough. I love the gimmick that it does in an attempt to blind me when I turn it on and off, it's insane to get this brightness from an OLED. The sound also isnt that bad. But out of the box picture settings are complete garbage which is completely unacceptable.
Hi Abby. Price drop came so quickly for the new Samsung OLEDS.😊
Which is good considering Sony never drops their overpriced sets...
No doubt because all the serious reviews prefer the LG G4, and there’s going to be stiff competition from Sony’s newly released series, and I’m guessing early sales of this TV were not good as a result…
However, I’m going to need this particular TV for geometry reasons 🤣 so it looks like waiting while they make improvements and as the price drops due to market pressures, will be the right strategy for me

The S90 and S95 in 55, 65, and 77 inch is GUARENTEED to be QD OLED. Now the question remains which panels are 3rd gen. The S95 is suppose to have the 3rd gen where the S90 series could be a toss up between 2nd gen and 3rd. Regardless, QD OLED is a beast.

@@Jodez23 yes. That's why it cost me only 1800 for a 77 in. You're welcome to pay double for something you can't even tell the difference standing alone.
Samsung OLEDs are in the infancy stages so that should be noted. Life expectancy of the panels are not that far in the production along with QC as LG Displays for consumer products thus are unknown or proven they are also limited in size which some Samsung OLEDs for 2024 will be WOLED panels (LG made) in the same model/series classification.

You can get rid of ads by plugging in an Apple TV 4K.
If I were taking *EVERYTHING* into account, and there were no extenuating circumstances, my choices this year would be between a new LG G4 and a discounted clearance Samsung S90C.
However, I kinda need the S95 because of panel thickness (I need as close to 3/16” thick as possible) panel height on the 65” model (I need as close as possible to 32.0” high), and compatibility with Spectrum streaming TV app.
So it’s really down to current S95D (better newer gen 3 panel) and s95C (cheaper price and glossy screen, but older tech panel with less brightness)…
The S90 series has a SUPER thin 3/16” panel, but it’s useless because the center bottom of the panel has that 1.5” thick box attached that goes all the way to the bottom of the TV! If that were just raised 3” off the bottom at least the TV could be mounted in a small hole in the wall (which I already have)! The S95 is 3/8” thick but no clunky box at the back to screw things up.
LG W-OLED tech has much thicker panels…

9:24 wooow!!!😨 85-91% Rec2020 color gamut??? Bro, our eyes can see truly bloody reds and a bath of green, hence shining yellows and turquoise-like cianos!!! I never see colors that deeper in my whole life...
I wonder if in LCD department, color filter layer would reach such gorgeous reds and greens like that one does 🤔🤷
Nice earrings
Better
THOSE EARRINGS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Oh whoops-it gets hot???! One big point of OLED is it’s supposed to be efficient and cool! My apartment has big problems with heat as it is…😩
Sony A95L get hot? Damn doesn’t matter that model is way too thick >1.3”
A95l has a heatsink so it dosent get as hot, its 1.4 inch thick but its wall mount is flatter, i dont think 0.1 inch matters in a room
No 83 inch no deal
Can we please come up with another word besides inky? getting really old..
The matte coating is just Samsung sending us a message: "Do not buy this lol the S90 is much cheaper and essentially the same"
I got mine and I love it , It only last for 24 hours, then died, at least they send me a new one asap , the picture its amazing
Your beauty distracts me from understanding please, looks premium and authentic, is it UK, European Made or which country? otherwise Chinese can't allow us access these good products with duplicate and fake products flooding our markets.
Biggest crap of this century, is that remote control... fml!
When Samsung make a TV with Noctua Heatsink it would be one to BUY :) ...
the matte screen looks awful behind you in the video. the whole top right of the screen is washed out from that light above it...
Never Samsung.
Samsung rely on a semi/non-functional colour management system that leaves colour errors relatively (and visibly) higher than the competition.
Plus, no DV. Nearly every streaming service offers content in DV and while most people wouldn’t be able to tell the difference between DV and HDR10+, most people can tell the difference between DV and HDR10
G4 hands down for the coating, better accuracy, significantly less visible color-fringing and better adjustability through the provided settings. I don't really see why anyone would go with the Samsung this year unless you get the S90C or S95C (which were actually more accurate) at a great discount.
S95D ddestroys lg g4 crap
@@sifisflisk7408 The G4 is not "crap" in any shape of form. The big 3 are all excellent
As long as Samsung will not support Dolbyvision, I will not buy a Samsung.
I will stick with my S95C another year. Nothing enticing me to "upgrade" in 2024. Certainly not the matte S95D, and the G4 is still WOLED.
The best part of samsung tv's in when you skip them and buy an LG or Sony instead.
😂 underrated reply 😂
@@Kronorium Someone had to say it.
@@omarcortes5754 💯 I agree! I’ve had all brands and Samsung have ALWAYS delivered on their brightness/ease of use and what not BUT always have had issues within 6 months! Pathetic to think that they’re still as popular as they are but then again their advertisement does appeal to the fickle 😂

Matte coating, end of video.
be careful buying this tv. i have 2 dead s95b tvs both broken in different ways. one stuck in a boot loop and the other with a large multi coloured patch. (warning)
