The LG C4 OLED is the 2024 iteration in LG's popular C Series lineup and replaces last year's LG C3 OLED. It sits above the LG B4 OLED and below the LG G4 OLED. It uses LG's new α9 AI Processor Gen7, designed to provide better overall image processing than its predecessors.

A few of you have rightly pointed out that the 42” and 48” models don’t have the same brightness levels as the bigger sized models. We’ve checked with our testers and although the smaller C4 models dim less than previous years' models, you’re still correct! We apologize for that and we’ll update our review on the website accordingly!
Damn great u listen to the viewers feedback also ! great job !
Nice video nice tv
In 42-48 inch size which one to go - C3 or C4?
@@sandipp4590 C4 when it is on sale.
4:08 You guys should compare the C4 with the C3, year over year improvements in the same model is the metric of progress.
Comparing the C4 with my old C1, you get 50% better full screen brightness and 27% better peak brightness. Not only that, but in general the C4 outperforms the high end model G2 from just two years ago.
Compare them yourself using their website
That's why they have a website. Its for you to do just that.

Coming from a 2016 LG B6, the new C4 is a night and day difference. Using it on a PC playing all my games in 4k 144hz is an absolute dream and worth the extra cost imo.
But coming from the cx onwards is not, unless they've finally fixed gradation handling, and HDR highlight luminance (like the a90j did)
Best LG can hope is to catch up to Sony and Panasonic but then qdoled or MLA is still the better option. Last year's Samsung's will be a steal now
What size did you get?
@Saduga went from 55in B6 to 42in C4.
Enjoy that nerfed brightness while gaming in game mode or PC mode
Thank you, very important informations !
this is the review I was waiting for
Hope you enjoyed it! 😄
I am from Romania. I got C4 on the shelf today in my store. And there is no green tint like on your sample. It behaves the same as C3.
I think that the problem with the green tint is greatly exaggerated and is not objective
@@alexv9405 I agree. Also, it is the same with ads, as LG lets you disable home promotions and content in the home screen recommendations. The home screen is the most used part of WebOS. But they give no points for that.
Minor comment re the stand - You state it is identical to the last two generations of C series - you appear to be correct apart from the front metal plate finally being a darker hue which I for one think smartens up the appearance from the front - I have one of these 65" C4's arriving 15/05 I cannot wait :)
Thanks for the review Abby :)
I love your TV knowledge and find that very charming. You are so charming. Thank you
I have to pull you up regarding your comment on the fact that all panel sizes perform the same.
This was not the case with the C3 where the 42 and 48 panels suffered from low brightness and as i
found out the hard way, they are prone to banding and panel failure.
I have just rejected my 48" C3 due to panel failure, the left of the screen was going darker than the right
the store said this was not unknown with the lower spec panels.
So until i see reviews of a 48" C4 i am saving up for a Sony.
We've just added a pinned comment to address this, sorry for any confusion!
@@RTINGSdotcombetter than c3?
You're saving up for a Sony that uses the exact same panel 😂
@@paulcox2447 I am saving up for a Mini-Led Sony not an Oled one
Once bitten, twice shy, all Oled's have a limited live and any failures require
a new panel,.
The magic remote is awesome, particularly for using on-screen keyboards. Putting shortcuts on the numbers also helps.
Yup, both are great "quality of life" features. I hardly use the OS. Just turn it on and hold the button for whatever app or input I want.
nice job! Question. My room is an upstairs bonus room. No windows. Will be mostly movies and sports. Ambient light can be controlled. Would you say this C4 still is better than the A80L? Thank you!
Another mild iteration over last year, very little reason to upgrade if you have a C9 or newer unless you’re changing screen sizes. Hopefully next year brings MLA down to the C-series
Starting to think that WOLED has no more room to improve
Yup i plan on sticking with my C1 for another iteration or two
@@yadspi WOLED has some room to improve once phosphorescent blue OLED materials are made longer lasting and therefore commercially viable. This will improve WOLED’s blues by making them brighter and more efficient, but will also improve QD-OLED a lot more since all of QD-OLED’s light starts out as blue light.
Still holding on to my C9 👍

the video reviews with abby are just fantastic, great work!
I bought myself a C4 42 inch partly because of the RTings reviews of the earlier models of the series (up to C3) and partly because I have had 10 wonderful years with my previous 32 inch LG LB6500 TV (which I am keeping) and thus I wanted to stick with the brand. Suffice to say I love my new TV. I could not ask for a better picture and the feature set is precisely what I was hoping for - basically a much more advanced and adept operating system than the one from 10 years ago on my LB6500. I just love the contrast with the deep blacks - night time scenes and horror movies are far better on this TV.
The colour rendition is also something that really stands out. I watch a lot of classic motorsport and the subtlety in paint colours on the cars is amazing. A car that I used to think was pure black is actually more of a mica black with subtle flecks of gold through it - but I could only discern this on the new TV. If anything, I think the colour reproduction blows me away even more than the deep blacks do.
The new TV upscaling is superb - even significantly better than that of my Zappiti 4K Pro - something I really was not expecting. Another thing I was not expecting is how much better the motion interpolation is on this new model versus my old TV. I can find settings that produce no artefacts at all yet get rid of that horrible low frame rate feeling on 24p content.
The only thing I do not like about the TV is the fact that unlike my old TV where you could delay either the audio or video (effectively being able to "advance" the audio), you can only delay the audio with this model. And with my TV headphones, there is around an additional 30 ms delay versus the inbuilt speakers (the headphones are Sennheiser RS195). Luckily I could resolve this since my Nvidia Shield allows me to advance the audio in increments of 10 ms (so it is advanced to 30 ms audio advance) and with my Zappiti media player, since I have to prepare every file that goes onto it anyway, I simply advance the audio in the files by 30 ms as well. So I have perfect lip sync for both of my sources but I would rather have the features my old TV had. I do not know why LG have decided to only allow users to delay the audio relative to the video versus advancing it and I think this is an oversight by LG that needs fixing on future models. Not everyone can "fix" the audio relative to video like I can on my workstation.
All that said, I am really happy with my purchase with those caveats.
EDIT: I should add that I bought two of these 42 inch TVs for different rooms and neither of them show any tinting, green tint or anything at all regardless of viewing angles. I specifically went to check mine when I read this here but they are perfect even up to 170 degrees off axis (I obviously see nothing at 180 degrees off axis!!). Perhaps this issue only effects the larger panels.
You said the results are valid for all other sizes. I thought the 42” and 48” had less brightness. Is that no longer true for the C4?
You are correct, LG has said that these have been upgraded in the C4 but by how much ?
I have rejected my C3 for panel failure so i am keen to know if the smaller screens in the C4 are infact upgraded.
You're correct! We've just added a new pinned comment about this, sorry for any confusion!
Love my C3. Have not noticed any green tinting on my set when panning past 28 degrees. May be something unique to the C4?
It is a panel lottery issue with the second generation WOLEDs such as in the C3 and C4. You won the panel lottery.
C4 or G3 both in 65 inch which one would you choose and why?
Hi RTINGS can you guys do a video about using the C4 as a computer monitor? Vs the C3; any advantages with the C4 for this usage?
I purchased the 42inch C4 and its an incredible PC monitor. I play all my games in 4k 144hz and its pretty smooth. Huge upgrade over my LG B6(2016)
42 inch C series is so dim
Finaly you didn't forget to tell about 2.1 HDMI was nice of you lady
Not sure why LG C series is considered mid range. Yes, it is more affordable than other OLEDs but cost just as much if not more than high end non OLED tvs. A ferrari is not a midrange car just because its cheaper than a Bugatti.
Midrange class TV but high range price class 😂
That's way LG C model only from last season C2, C3
You have the M series, G Series, C series, B series and A series. That's perfectly in the middle of the LG OLED TV range
It's a midrange super car.
OLED TV's are inherently expensive, just like super cars.
Exactly. An OLED like the C Series or A80. Still the second best TVs in their respective lineups. Comparing a C4 or A80 to the G4 or 95L. It’s a 911 to a 911 Turbo. You’ll have some noticeable improvements but the 911 is fine for 98-99 percent. I have an A80K and an A95. Yeah their is differences but the jump didn’t feel as big as Full Array to OLED did.
I ordered a C3 since it's been 3 months since I've had the C3 42". I'm very happy with that models gaming optimizer and vivid pictures modes. Is it worth it to upgrade to this model? Or not worth since barely of the console games can reach those high framerates/ 4K 120 specifically.
for console not worth
I have two 55 inch tvs. C9 and CX and could not be happier with these tv's. Although at some point a 77 inch needs to come into my life. C4 or G4 is the question.
CX gang. Mines still going strong 2-3 years
I wonder how long will my c2 65" will last before requiring an upgrade, not everyone can spend 2 lakhs INR for a TV. I'm fortunate enough to afford one.
5:58 what do you mean you're not used to seeing a green tint off axis on C series? RTINGS test results have shown this for a long time, it's one of my biggest problems with my C1 and wish I had realized before purchase.
I have C3 and there is no green tint.
Truly a very colourable tv.

What about auto dimming when u use it as a monitor?
You have to turn it off as usual by messing around through unofficial means. Like through for example color control.
On my OLED55B7A it can be effectively disabled by setting the OLED Light at '10'.
@@bricaaron3978 But Oled light 10 is very dark. Even in a light controlled room like mine I use way higher than that like at least around 20-30. It is better to turn of the TPC in the service menu. And then that dimming is gone. And only the ABL is left.
@@cajampa Yes, actually disabling it is better. But you couldn't be more wrong about '10' being very dark. In the range of low ambient light to literally pitch black it is _more_ than bright enough, I assure you. I have been assuming that since 2017, LG's OLEDs have become even brighter --- not that I need more brightness per se, but every bit helps when you want to use BFI or LCD glasses for stereoscopy.
I have a "High FoV Gaming" setup in which my standard view distance is 18". With the 55" OLED this gives me a horizontal Display FoV of 106° --- higher than most VR displays. When the In-Game FoV is increased to match the Display FoV you get a perfectly realistic image, completely free of distortion.
The increase in immersion from increasing Display FoV is indescribable. I believe that most people would sooner go back to a lower resolution or framerate than go back to a lower Display FoV, simply because the immersion of the experience is enhanced so much. Going back is like going from being _in_ the world to seeing the world through a toilet paper tube.
C4 and B4 Has Green Tint and G4 Has Pink Tint, what happened to LG Display?.
And Im Curious XR80 and S85D Has Same Issue Or Not 😔.
I have an LG 65C4 oled and it doesn't have a green tint at all, that's a lie
What is the display lag between ALM VS game mode
I heard it's around 20 ms vs 5 ms.
Basically Its a C3 with 144Hz panel. I am looking to upgrade my old C7 this year, but I think I'll pony up the extra cash and go for the G4, given I tend to use them for 5+ years and 20K+ hours. Hopefully the G4 would be less susceptible to colour degradation of OLED pixels (permanent burn in) after 10K+ hours of use. On my C7, around 12K hours I started noticing the pixel colour degradation (on parts of the screen in magenta and yellow) and now at 23K+ hours, the degradation is easily noticeable in magenta and yellows. My C7 is still serving me well to this day.
I went from from a C9 to the G4 and it’s amazing. Truly stunning
You can virtually eliminate that degradation by keeping your brightness as low as possible, which is easy in a dark environment.
you'll just pay more to have the same panel expiration date. Not worth it imo

@@JamesHopes-vf5yp Not my problem
@@jollama As usual internet is full of people posting useless comments. Proved
RTINGS does not test European market only TVs such as the TCL C845K. TCL sells different lineups in Europe and North America.
Anyways, I would consider the G4 over the G3 since the G4 fixes or mitigates several bugs that are present in the G3 such as a bad game mode, near black chrominance overshoot, and black crush.
From what I gathered from a FlatpanelsHD review, the TCL C845 comes with an outdated main SoC and Google TV 11. Android 11 went end of life on February 2024. I am not sure whether or not an update for your TV to a newer and supported version of Google TV is available, so you might be stuck with an end of life OS with a TCL C845.
Since LG still updates WebOS for its older TVs, out of those two choices, the G3 wins. However, I really recommend going for the G4 instead if that is possible.
Hi Abby. We're always glad to see you on screen. Liking your north accent too🔥
Great all-around Tv, shame about the Game mode.
Fixed on the G4, yet even with the new updated a9 processor on the C4 this year, same problems persists, like on the C3 last year. Dull, dim and lack of color brightness. So... i guess maybe its time to look elsewhere. I'm curious what Panasonic will bring to the table with their Z95a, both for movies and gaming. They use the same LG panels.
Unless you are a professional PC gamer you won't notice the input lag difference with other picture modes. it would be nice if LG fix this problem with a firmware update though.
@@varshoee But dont you lose access to special gaming features like VRR when opting for a different picture mode beside the Game Mode 🤔
@@Kivancli79 No VRR works fine on all picture modes.
Can someone explain the Samsung s90D? From what i understand if you purchase a 55" or 65" S90D the panel may be either QD-OLED or WB-OLED? Is that correct? And if so, why are they doing this? It seems like fraud. Itsno different then buying a sports car and you don't know if the car is 4 or 6 cylinders untill you get it home and use it. How is this even legal?
Disappointing with the green tint on the angle......
Does the c3 have it too?
Pink and green tints are common defects with second generation WOLED panels used in many OLED TVs including the G2, C3, C4, and others. Color tinting is a panel lottery issue with some TVs having an unacceptable level of tinting and others having an acceptably small amount. If you want less tinting, get a TV with either a third generation WOLED which has MLA technology which greatly mitigates the tint, or a QD-OLED TV. LG G3 and LG G4 have third generation WOLED panels with MLA.
When would that be an issue?
@@DMthefuturemeonly when you're watching it on axis in a single colored screen comes up, usually grey or white
I had to actually look at a gray slide and stand off axis to even see if it was an EVO panel and had the tint.
During normal viewing you simply don't notice it. On axis is doesn't exist and off axis with real content, it's very uniform.
Distance off axis hat I had to get was pretty ridiculous it was to the point no one would watch the TV from that far off axis.
Its something people on the internet complain about but it's not something that actually impacts their experience.

C4 seems to be held back. Maybe no heatsink , no MLA + and more conservative approach. Panasonic using the same Evo panels , non MLA will be over 1000NITs for 10% easily . I’m surprised you have put both LG and Samsungs OLED from 2023 into your so called longevity test but no Sony’s from 2023. Any reason for that ?especially considering they are the only brand who had severe screen burn issues with their past models TVs in your test and your test also shown us that Sony has the highest risk of screen burn than Samsung and LG regardless of what panel they use QD OLED or WOLED. your test on S95C and G3 also proves that WOLEDs with MLA is has higher risk of screen burn than the 2nd gen QD OLED. For example If you look at Samsung and LG within the same period of longevity let’s just say 6 months into the test you can see the screen burn on LG is more pronounced. I’m still suspicious of why Sony 2023 models weren’t added to this test.

LG C4, continuing the trend of "Jack of all trades, master of none" It's just a great all-around TV. I'm still blown away any time I used my C3.
wow that TV has a nice backside
LG missed with not including MLA on this C Series. I get why they only included it on G Series, but they could have owned this middle of the road OLED TV Category which I would argue will sell more TV's than the top of the line G series and other will. QD OLED is simply better than a standard WOLED.
you want mla. get an g3. what else should be the difference?
@@optimalsettings $1500 more for the G3 mate…
@@trewright1482 and you want the midrange equal to highend without paying more? dream on
@@optimalsettings apparently reading comprehension is not one of your strengths. I commented that LG would own the middle value TV category with that added value…
its for highend not C serie for your info
I love Abby
What’s the deal with this green tint nonsense I had a led tv years ago that had green tint issues I took it back
You give 7 to sound and you say that is bad? I dont know anyone who get a 70% in a class and say they failed or are average 😂
Tbh LG series is good enough since C1 , no need for upgrade
Since C8 actually as it's the fir6year of HDR.
correction: since CX Series :D because of g-sync, freesync and all the 120hz stuff.
Would you say getting the c1 second hand is still a good option as opposed to a new c3? Assuming there is no burn in etc.
@@sanjithechef CX was the first one after C9 with all the good new anti burnin features. And C1 comes after CX, so yes. if youre watching in a dark room, you can get CX, C1,C2,C3 whatever. they are all great.
As a C1 owner the C4 is really tempting though, the C4 has the same performance as the G2, this is actually a big step up. The main problem is I doubt I'll ever find a C4 for the same price as I got my C1.
My plan for this year is actually to get a 2024 TCL QM8 though, 5K zones and 5K nits is basically "Peak LCD".
This seems like a C3 but with more hdmi 2.1 ports.
