    • How I'm Going to Sell ... -~-
Today's Episode 95 of What's On My Desk (WOMD) is dedicated entirely to the history of Breitling, the evolution of the chronograph and the quest for the precise measurement of time. Many of you have been saying that it's time for Breitling to get some love and I heard you loud and clear.

Breitling screams history when it comes to the chronograph and they're specifically known for their precision-made chronometers designed for aviators.
In 1936, they developed a chronograph that was designed for aircraft cockpits and it ended up being implemented by numerous aircraft manufacturers. This led to the opportunity of securing a contract with both the Royal Air Force and the United States Air Force and soon enough, Breitling's Navitimer would find itself affixed to many pilots' wrists.
The Chronomat, the Navitimer and the Cosmonaute are considered among the most famous pilot watches in history. Breitling has played a role in sports, medicine, aviation and even astronomy.
Their devotion to prevision is the reason why, as of the year 2000, all of their wristwatches have been award with the COSC-certificate, which ensures the accuracy and reliability of watch movements.

Ian's personality is really coming through with the visuals. Hilarious, he's is a good "wing-man"! My first Swiss watch was a steel Breitling Colt (circa 1990, new!). I can't believe you missed the Cosomonaute model and Breitling's quest for the NASA contract with Omega Speedmaster and Rolex Daytona. One of the few times you could put them in the same category at the same time. Little side note to this episode. Great video, I really enjoyed it. Thank you.

    Mr. Sharf, great video!
Thank you for your content and your inspiring mind. Also really special that you connected with Michael Blakey!
The Breitling Avenger II Seawolf was my first grail watch!
I really want them to go back to super over-engineered, maskuline and chunky pieces. I'm not so much into the "modern" heritage-vintage-retro style that they and every other brand celebrates so much today!
I want more of radical and completely new and really modern designs! And please no Breitlight material.
You can't retire from a passion!

Rolex and other brands never appealed to me. Since then, when i could afford to buy myself watches i found the beloved brand Seiko, i bought multiple seikos that resemble the Navitimer without even knowing it. Now as an adult i became a Breitling enthusiast that ownes multiple, and i wrote this comment with a Navitimer on my wrist.

Had my eye on a couple, but the replies to their Facebook ads in the UK put me off. Loads of people having issues following infrequent wear for a year or 2. Then Breitling accuses them of getting them wet and sand damaged etc and charges around £1600 to repair. This in watches they say can withstand extreme environments!
I cannot say for sure what is happening but far too many similar accusations for me to take a chance on!

the transition from 8:45 to 8:52 doesn't make sense, you mentioned the 01 movement and then say "it was the chronospace" . The 01 movement is a 70 hour vertical clutch chrono. You skipped the whole part that Tudor selected Breitling movements for its modern chronos, and Breitling selected Tudor movements. Your presentation is like an amazing delicious soup that was incredibly tasty, but there is one hair floating. Even if you take out the hair and have the delicious soup, you can't help but remember there was this hair on it...

Nice video - breitling is one of my favorite brands but to be honest you probably went a bit easy on their management in the 2000's - they kinda lost focus on who brietling was, chased a trend, massively overproduced watches based on whats selling at that minute and ending up dumping stock, burning value and trashing some equity. Still you are right to focus on the core of what breitling is and despite the crap at the edges at heart they are a quality watchmaker. Shame you missed referring to the split seconds chrono they just released in the last few days - really would have fit your narrative.

Completely missed the 1970’s quartz era which introduced the two LCD & LED models.

Awesome video. Would have been better without that stupid music which kept playing at intervals, due to which I couldn't hear what you were saying

@@RomanSharf I'd wish you made more Rolex videos. Honestly no one does a monthly/quarterly analysis of prices. Everyone makes "predictions" but never followup on them

I appreciate that they make watches and that they are taking a unique path with the history, but I am not a fan. I walked into one of their store fronts before I even knew the brand and my head hurt from how busy their watches look.

Like the Navitimers but the Breitling Cockpit with the digital display? My dissertation was shorter than the instruction manual. Plus I can’t get my head around expensive quartz watches. To me just knowing it has a quartz movement automatically makes it an ugly watch.... sorry Grand Seiko lovers

lol, for those that use the watch as more of an instrument cant beat quartz

Breitling has lost its focus under Kern. Please do a review of breitling watches under Schneider, as even now these are starting to become iconic

Its not new? Its the original logo from 1884 . You can still find the wing logo on the superoceans and some other sports models.
