the japanese also do an incredible job. The grand seiko spring drives are a thing of beauty. No one does dials or better case finishing than grand seiko. The Germans have everyone beat though. Lange and Sohne watches destroy every swiss watch that's out there .Period!

Well, Fatima must have had a day off when she did my new Navitimer 46mm as the time keeping is at best rubbish. Now the setting button has stopped working. But then again maybe I shouldn't expect an 11-month-old Breitling to work longer than that.
@@yoshirc2988 I have an 18? year old Breitling that still looks like new and works fine. You can't compare the old Breiting's to the new Navitimer. Oh and no I didn't buy a fake. Even Breiting have aggreged with that, said it should be fine. But and it's big BUT their guarantee is rubbish. When I bought it, they gave me a 5-year Guarantee. I tried the claim on it after 10 + months from new No joy. Please don't believe what it says on the box, or what you see on the internet. By the way I still won't get it back from the repair shop till the end of Feb: due to Breitling's rubbish after sales service. 6K+ cost and had nothing but problems from New. But I'm looking on the bright side I did wear it for a few months and it's only going to cost me 600UK + to get it working correctly (MAYBE)
It’s disgusting that you are treated like that. Should not be any cost at all to you and they should even pay for your postage. You pay a very hefty price for poor after sales service.
That is assembling the watch. What about the fabrication of the components from prime matter to the parts, from the iron to the pieces of engine. Also, how is the face of the watch made, the numbers, the lumen, the color. Is there a video with those processes? Thanks.
Not exactly by humans though. Even as far back as 30 years ago, yes. Not anymore. The small components of a watch are made with precision with machines and computers. The designs are made on computers.

I love my Breitling it’s the best watch ever. I use it for every day use, dress and Professional Divers work. It’s absolutely fabulous. Breitling all the way.
Many watch brands mislead information about their movements. Breitling is one of them.They haven't started to use the B01 on the Navitimer until recently and the video was produced waaaaaaaay before Breitling had starting manufacture the B01.
I've had my BO1 chronomat for 9 years and have not needed service in all that time. Glad because my full warranty ended 6 years ago. I only wish it had a clear back so I could enjoy the movements

Only service your watch if it breaks or looses time. I've seen many *repairs* from certified technicians such as rolex what look more like a butchery than the delicacy needed for watch repairs.
As long as it runs on time leave it alone. With Rolex you pay a fixed amount for servicing the movement. My GMTII went from working fine, to losing a lot more time per day, to stopping completely. Everything movement related was covered under the $750 service fee. Also had a new dial and hands put in but that was extra. Added a few other things like bezel insert and a crystal to get to a total of $1600. Paid $2700 for the watch twenty years ago. First service ten years back was $600. I got $4900 in the watch. Right now taxated at $14,000. I’m fooling myself though because I’ve never sold a watch and as long as I don’t need the cash, I won’t.😬
I'd need to remortgage my house to buy one......my casio does all I need from a watch, telling time but I love the engineering and precision required for high end watches, I find it fascinating
Yeah but I have that cash set aside for a wedding (mine) and house/apartment buying. Still got me a TAG though, she's lovely. Got my other half one too, he doesn't know it yet.
I have a Breitling Navitimer 01 Limited edition. The one with the black dial and white subdials. Beautiful watch!!!. Gets the most compliments. The Navitimer is a legend. Even non watch people recognize it!.
Odat Never fails to amaze me how some people get their jollies by putting down others. You are proud to wear that watch, but others make nasty statements that they feel make them superior somehow. Yet, all it does is put them lower than the whale shit status they worked so hard to reach.
Am totally in awe of the people that build these mechanical masterpieces. A digital watch may be cheaper and more accurate, but they have no soul. Remember when the digital watches first hit the marketplace in the early 1970s. People said that that would be the end of analog watches. That will never happen. There are other brands of watches that are nearly as accurate but much less expensive. High price watches like Breitling are about snob factor and ego.
Complexity of the case, dial and often hands on top with impeccable quality control can't be found in many watches. There are some below Breitling prices, but they're hard to find.

Electric watches are called Quartz watches since they use an Quartz isolator to keep time, yes mechanical watches are more "romantic" and there are a lot being build today for very affordabel prices from respected brands like Seiko, Citizen, Tissot, Orient and Hamilton which cost from 60€ to 400€.

(escapement wheel rotating the WRONG way, pallet not synchronised with the Balance). My toughts are with the poor Breitling craftsmen/women who saw this totally wrong animation for the first time.

I love Breitling watches. The Navitimer chronograph is an icon. I just wish their prices wear lower... more towards the Tudor/Omega price levels. As a result, Breitling watches take a dive in the resale market.
I'm a big fan of Breitling ( the aviator 8 unitime is on my wish list), but I think that "6 years of experience" is a bit exaggerated considering that all the watch makers in the video do the same thing over and over again ( + with the help of machines). I think all this automation ( for a mass production sake) has taken the spark out of building watches. The entire process looks like the assembly line of a car :(.
I believe they said that they rotate tasks every now and then. And there are the watches that come in to service. Of which many are not in production anymore. Those may need one person to do it all on a list of different movements.

It doesn't, you have to set it. But if you spend some 10k on a watch then there are things like Perpetual calendars which can even adjust for leap years.
I wear daily a 2018 Seiko Turtle Prospex 200 M Automatic. +- 2~3 second a week. Requires service once every 25 years. It is built like a tank, bullet proof. Think! Which has better : 1. Reliability? 2. Accuracy 3. Value for money?

You have the parts, you know the right order, than you need only one thing: control your hands. How I sad, I didn't get it. (Yes, I already have experience with really tiny parts.)

Never again? Don't say that, you will regret the thrill of owning one. You will put up with the little quirks. A family friend races cars, owns 1 new and 2 additional vintage Jaguars. Plus he has a RV and truck for the horse ranch. Plus his wife has a Toyota, just in case she needs a car that is reliable. I often would drop him or the wife at the Jaguar mechanic. When I asked the wife if she tires of the hassle of taking the Jaguars in for service; her response "it's so cute that they need pampered." It's the thrill of owning a XXX, something you and I do not understand.

I just saw some assembly by hand. All hte machining is done with CNC, and also all the critcal assembly.

as a watchmaker i can tell you none of these parts are made by hand anymore, you have to go back around 80 years for that

You should get it serviced the lubricants break down and the metal starts ruining itself.

If you can't afford a Breitling, I doubt you own a house. They're not expensive. Overpriced, yes. Expensive, no.

By sending it to them for a service. Was this always the case? Because if not it could indicate that it really needs a service.
