One of the best pieces of software I’ve ever purchased and used. Ever since the first posting the author made on RadioReference, asking for thoughts and feedback on a new project. ProScan appeared a bit later and is phenomenal. I use it for the 996XT and 536HP and purchased the DMR decode option for each. They still sound like crap compared to an actual good quality 2-way radio, but the other features make it necessary to use a scanner. Thanks :)
I’ve been using ProScan with the same Uniden 996P2 (with the firmware updates) for several years. The author is very active in supporting updates and serving customers. Love this setup with a 10” usb monitor for the output. Now, if I can only find time to get the touchscreen feature of the Mimo monitor to work in Win 10, lol
Yeah, it is a great program Frank. I run the web server, so I can monitor from the office. Very cool set of features, and the price is great. Not to mention, it makes programming the scanner a hella easier than from the panel! Thanks for watching!
The Uniden SDS200 and SDS200E are two different models of digital police scanners. The SDS200 is designed for use in the United States, while the SDS200E is designed for use in Europe. The SDS200E is not legal in the US due to it not being FCC certified because of the frequency bands it covers. The SDS200E can scan frequencies that the SDS200 cannot, such as the 869.0001Mhz and above frequencies 1. The SDS200E is also capable of decoding TETRA digital voice signals, which the SDS200 can't.
I also use Bob's Proscan and its decent and receives regular updates. I have requested a few times to have the history and grid log files to be interchangeable and loadable into the current screen. Maybe it will happen.. Hopefully. But what's the secrets?
The secret is how much more useful it makes tweaking and programming the scanner. Especially for P25 trunk stuff. It really makes the scanner's abilities shine, IMO.
When I made this, I was using a 2012 model Mac Pro, and the virtuialization software is Parallels. Still the best on the Mac OS platform for that sort of thing. I ran a windows VM in it daily (usually always on).
I have a 100 & 200. For the life of me I can not get audio through the computer (WIN 11). It takes control of the SD200 and everything is right except the audio. I can control it from the computer BUT the audio does not come through, it does adjust on the scanner, mute, etc. Thoughts?
Off the top of my head - you are probably point the wrong input into proscan. scanner out to the aux or mic in; then adjust the volume on the scanner. look at what input proscan is using.
Can this fix the audio user level problem with the BCD436HP? Digital systems have this known issue were you can barely hear a unit and the dispatcher comes out at a ear r*pe level
Late to the party here. THANK YOU for posting this video, Ive had PROSCAN for over a year and rarely use it. I didn't realize it did all of these things, Im in a Fire Dept. as well. How did you find your tones for your station? Without calling dispatch HA Thanks again KJ7ZVK
Radioreference.com has a lot of that kind of information. I managed the radios for our department, so I knew all the tones. For us, we just had a tone on tx and rx (like the other departments in the county as well). Different tone for each dept. I wouldn't call dispatch, call your radio guys. Most scanners will respect tones just like the radios do, so you can program the scanner to only break squelch on your dept. I have a 996P2, that I had our dept in, with tones, and would have it alert and flash red when we got paged. Most HT's will decode 2-tone or 5-tone sequences as well.
Clickbait!!! Not one mention of ANY hidden features this is just proscan. No close call level adjustment, no opening of frequency ranges, no dmr key hacks, literally nothing of value except a tutorial of proscan software.
Jorden, I can't tell you one way or the other, really, as I don't have either one. However, here's where you need to do some research. I have a 996P2 (P25, trunking, etc), and I have an SDS-100 (ditto). The simulcast multipath rejection on the SDS100 is top-notch! Much better than the 996P2. I've read/watched several sources that indicate that is a factor. I assume that the SDS200 has the same multipath discretion as the 100. Where I live, the county has a P25 P2 system, with multiple towers (Simulcast). That can be a real pain, and you will end up dropping calls, unless your scanner can delineate between which tower is which. So - that may or not be a thing for you, but that is a key factor to me. I just don't know how well the 536 can handle simulcast. That is really the smoking gun of how well a scanner performs. My .02. Good luck, and thanks for watching!
I bought the program myself, it wasn't provided for me, so not a commercial. I have no arrangements with Proscan at all (they don't know me from Adam's housecat). It does allow you to EASILY do a lot of things with the scanner, that are mostly possible, but extremely tedious from the front panel. It makes the scanner a lot more useful. Thanks for watching!

Enrique, the 996 can change the backlight color, based on some parameters. I can't remember if you can set that from the front (maybe?), but I use Proscan, which let's me set the LED to change a few colors based on what channel or frequency has traffic. I have the local fire department flash red on activity.

This video should be named “ProScan tutorial” not “Uniden secret features”.....

Thanks for sharing this; its now on the list to get. Great summary of the features.
Glad it was helpful! It is a real must-have addition to any of the uniden scanners Bob. It adds so much functionality.
I have found my new favorite channel.
Great video. How I can do to change screen color when receive signals. Thanks
I need that software 👀
Makes that SDS-100 even sexier! I am pretty sure it works on the Home Patrol ones as well.

the 200e can't decode Tetra wishful thinking.
I never heard of it but then again, I don't have a scanner yet. I'll set up a GoFundMe now so I can buy one! 😄📻
Thanks Jim👍🍻🤓
Sds-E models are the European models
What are you using to run this on MacOS?
Parallels - when I moved to mac, I migrated my entire windows machine over to that on the Mac, and it works very well.
A fantastic video ! Thank you so very much for sharing this information ! !

But what's the secrets?

Why did you not include the link for the ProScan software because I can’t find it anywhere
Can't believe I didn't either. www.proscan.org/
what is the virtualization software you are using?
When I made this, I was using a 2012 model Mac Pro, and the virtuialization software is Parallels. Still the best on the Mac OS platform for that sort of thing. I ran a windows VM in it daily (usually always on).
Will this work on my crystal scanner? I need to reprogram it cause the frequencies are vacant now.
You have to grow your own crystals too, I'm sure.

Yeah, I feel your pain. Not that I'm aware of. Our local public safety system - dispatch blows the doors off, and you can barely hear the officers.

Thank you for sharing this, it looks like great software for scanners!
It is! It really helps you use the scanner, and adds some neat features.
Is a unidentified radio better than broadcastify
I'm not sure I understand your question? Broadcastify is great for listening to stuff outside your area, but it won't scan at all.
Clickbait!!! Not one mention of ANY hidden features this is just proscan. No close call level adjustment, no opening of frequency ranges, no dmr key hacks, literally nothing of value except a tutorial of proscan software.
Thanks Jimmy James! :)
Appreciate it brother!
Would you say the 536 is better than sds200?

Now this is something I know.
Secret feature ??, Hidden, not a word about anything like that......
CLICK BAIT!
A commercial for almost 13 min for a program that does NOT access "SECRET" OR HIDDEN" anything..

Why are all of these products written by 80 year old dudes who stopped learning how to build usable software around 1996?
Thank you
