Jonathan, the way you opened the battery door latch on the SDS 100 can eventually brake the door latch. I recommend that you squeeze the scanner and battery compartment together and then undo the latch.

RadioReference! That is the same exact database that is loaded on to your scanner. If you look through everything in your county, you can see what may need one or more of those add-ons.
Can you still use the high end "Trunked DNR" 200 version in a rural area that is mostly the old analog Channels, would like to buy if I went to a Metropolitan area with Trunked systems.
How to eliminate static cue-up noise on digital channels - hold on the channel, tap E key, go to Edit channel, select Audio type, tap to select Digital only. Most Database frequencies have this already set.

I am new to this so thank you for all the help. I have no idea what add on to get or if they will work in my town or if I even need them. Thanks again Donald.
Depending on where you live, these radios are just expensive paper weights. I'm one of the unlucky ones who live in Chicago where literally everything except for railroad and aviation is encrypted.
Just got mine because the uniden bcd996p2 never really worked for my area. Now the SDS200 freezes I cant win. How can I get someone to help program my 996p2 so I can receieve the same cities as sds200? Don't cant about the price Ill pay.
My new sds200 was working fine until I added some agencies to a favorite list. Now it is saying "scan mode. nothing to scan". I tried the suggestions in the manual to no avail. Any other suggestions??
@@qqqqq11111qqqqq I did get it working, but only after a friend helped to download sentinel. I had to buy a cheap PC computer b/c I have Apple. But once sentinel was working the downloading wasn't too bad. Trial and error! So far it is working fine for me. There is still a lot I am learning about it. Good luck with the purchase.
what I'm wonder is how can I have the scanner stop scanning on a 'specific' station that I want to keep listening to? If I click one of the three buttons at the top that doesn't do the trick. that just narrows the scan to the department, etc.
@@krististanley8508 that doesn't quite completely stop the scanning though. It's as if it scans but only on a certain subset of channels or frequencies. Not sure how else to describe it. I took a short video if that would help?
@@StaffAction Sounds like you're pushing the Dept soft key (in the middle). If I push my channel soft key (on the right) it stays on that channel...maybe it's defective.
The LAN port is used for Ethernet connectivity for remote streaming and control. 3rd-Party software may be required such as ProScan. Many of the jacks such as USB A connection on the front of the scanner are still unknown.
Not many of the questions are getting answered here. Uniden always puts out a great radio, but the prices are ridiculous. Encryption in many LE agencies are a issue for Scanners and there isn't anyway for today's scanners to break the Encryption. But it will come some day. Encryption is very expensive for any user to apply.
The hefty price tag is due to it's ability to scan simulcast without issues. It is, at this time, the only scanner capable of doing so. They are going to jack up the price knowing there are no other options!

How do I know if it is beneficial to purchase add ons for the SDS200? Is there a database that shows when I would need DMR/Moto TRBO; NXDN; ProVoice?

No, you need a shortwave receiver radio for that.

Push the channel soft key while it's on the station you want to listen to.

Could be a form of encryption? I would need to know more about who your are monitoring.
