Very pretty and fun
Hi great fun vid thanks, here in the UK wallpaper is the preserve of the very, very and I mean very wealthy, sooo popular right now, keep em coming, stay safe and thanks again x
It looks very special now, just fantastic! It was a good idea to use the old map. Many thanks for sharing!
Thank you! I’m pretty impressed with how it all came together. The maps really put a nice touch on the piece. Thank you for watching!
Beautiful! I love all things travel related, especially maps.
Glad you enjoyed it!
My entertainment center has detailed carvings. What would you recommend. How to sand without loosing the picture of detail
Where did you get the map paper on a roll? That looks cool!
I got that at Hobby Lobby.
I also use Shellac, but I wonder if you thin yours? Or, do you use if full strength?
I’ve always used mine full strength.
What did you apply to the piece before you started the white? And why do you do this step?
I applied Shellac. Shellac prevents bleed thru. It blocks wood tannins from coming to the surface.
@@madelinejeanantiquesrestor9074 thank you 🤗
What an amazing transformation! I have a similar piece and am in the beginning stages of just sanding. Is the white paint just a primer paint? Also, do you have any suggestions for cleaning the wood since it collected some bug poopies inside of it where the drawers fit. I have already sanded it down and applied wood putty to the small holes. Do you recommend hand sanding for a piece like this?
The white paint is just plain white paint. I shellaced it BEFORE painting it white. I like using the product Krud Kutter to clean furniture. You can get it at Lowes or Home Depot. I did a combination of sanding with my orbital sander and hand sanding.
Bethany, can you show how you do your signature driftwood look...or is it a secret???
Looks Awesome! Did u rub the edges of paper with paint/stain? Or is that just the paper design?
Thank you! I used dark wax in the corners to add an aged look to the maps.
Wish I could see what ur doing on drawer. Lighting is real bright.
I was taking a blank piece of paper and tracing the outline of the part I would be sticking the map to. Basically creating a template. The bright part was on a time lapse but then I took 4 minutes to explain how I did it.
Love this and especially the blue color! Did you apply any top coat over the paint? What brand and name of white paint did you use first? I have never tried Masion Blanche paint, but now I might have to. How would you compare it to wise owl, dixie bell, or fusion paint? Thanks!
I’m so glad you like it! I put a clear wax over the paint. It’s also by Maison Blanche. Fabulous wax! My previous UA-cam video I did a review of the wax. I just used a generic white paint color by Valspar. It was a matte finish. Regarding Maison Blanche’s paint I really, really love it. It goes on super smooth. Distresses easily and feels like a true chalk paint. Two UA-cam videos ago I reviewed this color of paint and did a tutorial on that as well. I personally am ordering more of their paint. I’m that impressed.
@@madelinejeanantiquesrestor9074 Thanks for all the helpful information! I only wish I could get it locally. I have been trying unsuccessfully to use wise owl snow owl paint on a pine wood tv stand. I tried their primer, the zinsser bin primer multiple times, but can't seem to get good coverage. I am just probably going to have to live with it since it doesn't fine unless you are really close to it. Then I can see all the imperfections showing through the paint. I am ready to try something new!
@@serenity503 Absolutely! You can order it directly from their website that’s what I do. Just a thought.
Hi! I’m new to your channel and love it. What is your favorite paint and varnish stripper?
Yeaaaaa! WELCOME! I'm glad you found me! Okay favorite paints....I love making my own chalk paint when I need to keep my overhead down (I use Valspar in a flat sheen), when I"m doing custom orders I love to use Maison Blanche chalk paint, for enamel paint I love Wise Owl's line, and my favorite varnish stripper is by Formby's (I use it with steel wool).
