Absolutely love your work! I am a New Hampshire refinisher as well! A couple of quick questions…1) you didn’t tape off the edges of the top when you did the primer and painting. Did you just wipe it off with your finger if you make an Oopsie? Or how do you stop paint in the grain of the top before it’s finished? 2) do you wash your cling on brushes or do you let them set in water as they recommend? And finally 3) do you tape the edges of the vanity before you start staining and finishing the top? I can you tell, struggle with getting a clean edge!

Thank you for liking my work! Where are you located in New Hampshire? Okay to answer all your questions this is the order I usually work when I’m doing a two toned look. Meaning partial paint and partial stain. I first paint the shell of the piece. I don’t tape anything off. If I get paint around the edges of the top no biggie I’m going to sand that anyways. After I’m done painting THEN I sand the top and stain it. I’m pretty good at not getting the stain onto the painted areas. Then I also apply the topcoat. If the stain or topcoat go slightly over the edge I wipe with my finger. If the stain gets on the paint, usually along the edge, I simply touch up that area with paint. I do clean my Cling On brushes before I place them in water. I try to get all of the excess paint off the brushes. I immediately hang them in water let them sit and then I go back and clean them again. Most of my cling brushes are going on 6 to 8 years and they’re all holding up great. I hope this helps!

Your work is stunning! So interesting. Can I trouble you, if you know - can I do anything about using my favorite 1920s mahogany antique dining room furniture if it is in a house that has mold? I’m heartbroken about it. Long story short, I’m moving and while I was caring for my Mom at my family home, my house was besieged with what I think is mold - the white powdery kind. Thank you & keep on making the world beautiful one coat at a time! 🎨🖌️

Thank you for liking my work. Regarding the mold, just spray the piece of furniture down with bleach. Let it sit a bit and then wipe away. You might have to do it a couple of times or maybe just once. It all depends on how much mold is present. I’m not sure what your plan is. If you’re going to refinish it, sand it down or paint it but to get rid of the mold, you are going to have to use bleach. Please take care when doing this I always wear a respirator type mask, I wear heavy duty gloves, and sometimes in warmer weather I’ll bring the furniture outside.

Can you tell me what product you used to seal the top of the vanity and draw fronts. The bathroom looks beautiful .love the colors of the walls and the board and batten. Nice job.

Thanks for the link, I’m restoring a antique commode and I’m putting a vessel sink on top, your videos are very helpful. How many coats of the urathane did you put on top?

@@missingbluesky09 I’m so glad you’re finding my videos helpful. I put three coats of the marine poly on. I also very lightly handstand in between each coach. I use 400 grit sandpaper, wrapped around a felt block. Very lightly feather sand from one side all the way to the other side in one swoop.
