Honestly didn't even know there was another Grid in the works.
Castorcato First GRID in 6 years, first (and probably only one) this gen.
Probably pretty much same game remastered. I saw a 2010 Camaro in this review.
@Emperor Lars XVIII Nah, this is new game or "reboot" if you will...but no its not remaster of the original GRID.
Overall I dont exactly see where Codemasters wants GRID to fall in in racing game genre....most people would either prefer full arcade or sim or "semi-sim" (like Forza) type of game, these kind of games that fall in somewhere between are usually the ones that dont really get reviewed that well or sell that well.

Great review. Guessing it’s going to be a “wait for sale” by the looks of this. Pity, hopefully the devs will continue to refine and expand on this game, for it shows promise.

Grid on PS3 was a really great game! As I see here, the new gen version is just ok.. I was excited but now I'm disappointed with the result.. Thank you once again for the review and keep the great work! Quality vid as always

yeah and its sad that its missing so much from the 2008 Grid like real build your Team feeling with sponsors etc, Le Mans 24h at the end of the season and so on...
Disappointing to hear there aren't a lot of AI crashes. That was one of the coolest things about the original GRID, lots of killer AI crashes.

why does it feel like this genre hasn't changed/improved in a decade?
Russell Smith graphics got to a point where it looks realistic or stylized in the way the devs wanted. So in itself, there is only so much you can improve before you hit a wall. Let them get to the point where in game people look real, and graphics will stop being so important. Hell, I would argue we’re already there.
@@pspcow tuning can be improved big time. Not just "engine packages" but actual parts and realistic set ups. A lot can be improved, they just don't bother.

Because they haven’t. Gran tourismo 3 basically perfected it, and every game since then has been 95% the same thing.
I loved the 1st grid and I actually got caught by surprise that this was even coming out!. The game looks like the original 2 but I might still get it I’m just not in a rush...there’s not a whole lot of game right now so I’m looking forward to the nostalgia! I appreciate the review on this game since a lot haven’t been on this.
The first grid was great and had great damage I thought this was a remake💔 I'll stick with project cars 2

Yeah... Forza has been setting the bar pretty high lately in all regards.
MrDeathChicken To be fair, that is aplicable to all 2010 and later racing games from X360/PS3 era.
Cheezdealer For real, Horizon 3, Forza 7 and Horizon 4 have been the best the genre can offer.

I love this game. I play on v hard. Awesome challenge. Lacks presentation glitz. It’s an out and out arcade racer. But it is extremely fun but is frustrating like you say. Excellent review as per usual.

@@SirGreenDay It is. I'm almost done with the so called career and I'm already bored to death. Nothing is exciting in this game, the cars handle ok but they don't give you that satisfying feeling, the races all feel mundane and with so few tracks and cars ( none of which stand out by the way ) it has zero replay value imo.

Great graphics and fun racing. If you want tons of customizing and simulation there are games based on that. I love that this is jump in and race.
Pretty disappointed about the cosmetic damage as the original grid had pretty good damage.
After what Codemasters have done with Dirt Rally 2.0 i will not be buying

Lightning engine reminds me of Drive Club. What is obvious when you remind that Codemarters hired part people working in Evolution studio.
I've yet to see anything surpass Driveclub.

It's been almost 6 and a half years since Grid 2 came out so it's been a while. Honestly, I didn't expect to see a Grid title anytime soon. Having said that, I would consider buying this game, but I'm not necessarily in a hurry. A.I. is an issue and the damage modeling is a bit weak. Otherwise, I appreciate the great review as always. Thanks Karak!

Grid And and Legend remind me of Ridge Racer Revolution on GameCube in 360 we can race into several different cars that's why I like the Grid series cuz it reminds me of bridge racer Revolution was all its different cars to race in that's why I find it so fascinating
The crashes in Grid 1 and 2 was one of my favorite features, sad they've taken it away.
Its Cool how u can disable the arms and steering wheel, for Simulation steering wheel.

I never liked racing games. But when I played the first Grid game years ago, I was so hooked. Never got hooked on another racing after either.
I have this for 360 and the PC, one of my favorite racing games.

I've only played GRID 2 (Intel CPU giveaway oddly enough). Grid sits nicely balanced in-between an arcade and simulation racer from what I played. It's good to see the series make a return.

my only issue is the 3rd person view (which i rarely use) and in the Car selection sometimes the wrong images load and it just overall loads pretty long. Other than that, really good sound in 1st person view (which i cared the most about) it feels really good to drive in the game. Tried wheel and controller. everything really good

i think you're right, the game does have some struggles with the Anti-Aliasing. quite a numerous number of times i was checking the Resolution thinking UA-cam had magically set it lower. but no, it was just the game, that's just how the game looks. even through UA-cam Compression it was still strongly noticable!
Is there any tipe of car customization for single player in game such as liveries or changing the car color ?
Yes, for each car there are the same categories of liveries and the basic selection of color for paint jobs. The liveries vary from Motosport, Urban, Prestige, etc. They all have their own design and there is also a function to turn off the racing decals or leave them on. Rim and Driver color also change with car color.
Edit: From what I've experienced you unlock more liveries through level unlocks and career completion.

This makes me really want a best of DiRT type game... Heck, maybe just combine 2 and 3... Those 2 were basically the same game as far as graphics and controls, just different tracks and menus...
hmmm, im not so sure i agree with that or do you mean dirt rally and dirt 3? or dirt 2 and dirt 3? i think you meant the later, and in that case i agree, but Dirt Rally, the original, is my favorite and still leaps and bounds above any of the new dirts, including 2.0.. whaddya think?

Original Grid was raw and crazy fun to play.
Driving flat out on a straight was tritchy, edgy, risky and dangerous. You could feel every bump and it was terrifyingly brilliant. Buliding a team to battle Ravenwest was fun and rewarding.
The new Grid looks like every other racer. Tame, safe driving, and basic team management. I loved original Grid because it had rivalries and a reason to play (not just race this to unlock next race). I was burned by grid 2 and again with autosport (both concenrated too much on the mechanics, rather than being a fun game to play).
I remember the days of Grid 1 and Need for Speed Pro Street. Now those were vehicle destruction models done right

Just bought the ultimate edition off ps store for $33 AUD, with all dlc. I feel like people's expectations are becoming a little ridiculous, gorgeous, fun game. I usually use my $1200 cockpit setup, but nice to see the controller works well.

Grid 1 and Dirt 2/3 remain pinnacle Codemasters. Nothing they've put out since has come close to wowing me like those games did back in the day, especially in terms of visuals and presentation. Still some of my fav driving games of all time.
I find it to be quite fun. Runs at 90 ish fps with a 6600k @4.4 and a GTX 1080 on 1440p...
it feels like a remake of grid 2, I think I will wait for sometimes until it shows up on gamepass

Grid autosport was no slouch i preferred that to the og Grid 2 on 360

I wish the way they did grid and grid Legend I wish they would use that reference and help re-release eventually Need for Speed Hot Pursuit remastered with even nicer graphics and make the game look even more beautiful making the normal races and the police car chases more exciting by giving it more like something like series X graphics to Need for Speed Hot Pursuit remastered you got to admit that would be nice to see it all that fancy for special effects and detail and the look of the cars and the tracks and all other things
