I really miss games like Gran Turismo 4 where you had to grind out several races just to put a turbo on your civic and it was the best feeling ever.. It seems like every game now days gives you a lambo after 5 races and doesn't focus on the progression and tuning. At least for me, that takes away the satisfaction.

For Console this is a buy just good solid fun.
For PC its a bit of a hit and miss with the microstutter/FPS issue like at around the 1:23 mark. So far no one can figure out why some PC's have it and others don't and why its not all the time.
I would say go into it with your eyes open if your getting it on PC

Trust me Forza Motorsport 7 feels shallow and unrewarding. The mod-system and prize crates as well as the collectors tiers are function geared towards keeping players around for a month until their done. Meanwhile the players that have played the franchise for over a decade (of which there are many) are being left in the dark. It's a fucking disgrace...

is hard to argue with that. I also believe they could have added faces and a more realistic behavior (like adjusting the gloves before a race). Fortunately, Forzavista is better than ever, in 4k, it looks as you can almost go across the screen and touch them...

2 trucks, 3 nascars, and i believe it's 2 LM prototypes. But this is not Turn 10s fault. Toyota is adopting a weird policy of not advertising their production road-cars in racing games. It would be nice if they add racing supras later though.

Forza 4 was my favorite. There was so much content and so many tracks. Also before dlc really kicked in. It’s been over 2 years since 7 came out and STILL no new tracks!
I'll be buying this on PC for sure. Xbox Play Anywhere feature is a godsend for people like me who has friends on Xbox but prefer PC. Worked so well with FH3
Why even mention that you are "buying it on PC"? If it's an xbox play anywhere title, then it doesn't matter where you buy it, you get both versions...
Did you even read what he said? He said he likes it because his friends (who are on Xbox) can play with him, not necessarily because he gets both copies of the game
You do know you can play on PC and he can play on XBOX, right? Same with FH3.
My only worry at this point is those loot boxes. I know it may be paranoid but I think they just let the early reviewers have access to the loot boxes without asking for real money so that they don't mention it in the reviews, then they'll add a real money version a little bit after launch and screw everyone else.
Just like they did with Halo 5.
They already said they will add a new currency later in the game cycle that you can buy for real money.
Also they already fucked up the system with "mods". Those you can only get from the loot boxes and they do, what you could do for free in earlier games.
Before if you changed the weather or the day cycle in the older games, you got extra points because the track got harder. You still can change the track conditions for free to make it harder, but you won´t get extra points anymore "until" you use one of the "mods" and they are one time use. You know, like the shaders in Destiny 2.
So you can say you earn points, to buy mods that let you earn more points, so you can buy more mods ... to earn more points ...
They even said that they will let the 'loot box system' to settle in, and then (maybe) open it for microtransactions.
Beyond that, it just seems stupid that they hide, what used to be simple settings, behind loot boxes, even if they are free.
I am pretty sure it will be monetized in near future.

Do not buy the Ultimate Edition. The VIP pass only gives you 25 races of double credits and then it is over for your bonuses. The VIP system is a scam in this game compared to what you got in previous editions.
The one question I didn't hear answered though: Is this worth buying if you already have Motorsport 6 and all of it's DLC? Especially for someone that might not care about the multiplayer? I mean, with all the DLC for 6, you have over 600 cars. So the amount of vehicles really isn't a big deal. There might be an extra track or two in 7. The way you have to buy a certain amount of cars in one tier to get the next tier is just straight BS.
The only real advantage 7 seems to have over 6 is the dynamic weather, and that's not even on every track. And maybe the sounds are a tad better. But is that really worth the money?
i hope they fix the stutter with a day 1 patch... when it happened in horizon it took them fucking ages to solve it.
Update: I bought FM7 on PC today, and I'm super relieved to say I've experienced no performance issues in race whatsoever. I'm currently running an I7 6700 non K with a GTX 1080FE and at 4k maxed out with 8xMSAA I never drop below 60fps even in the rain. Vid on my channel after processing if interested. The only stutters I see are in cut scenes and menu transitions which is super lame considering it's a menu. Annoying yes, but at least there's no performance issues where it matters as far as my spec level goes.
If you don't have a PC with 16gb of ram and at least 6gb of vram (preferably 8gb) then you'll likely encounter those stutters, especially if you don't set your graphic settings to fairly low.
ya and those with far in advance of that are seeing it too sadly. Including myself

I must say this, FM7 is fucking awesome on PC! Runs perfect, attention to detail is just spectacular! I also have a PC2 and its also great game so I would say FM7 = PC2, both games are outstanding, graphics, audio, cars...so many things are spot on! Whoever says forza is the same game every time you are soo wrong!

I've received a complimentary promo copy of Horizon 3 to my new laptop earlier this year. To this day it's been the one and only game that not only has issues running but flat out refuses to fucking launch on it.
Wonder if the worlds greatest driver is a DLC character? Bob "Sparky Plug" Holly.
This is the only Xbox game that interests me. I've always loved their Horizon line. Might get it on the PC once they fix the issues down the road

you know what i love about forza, it just it all right, visually , outstanding nothing touches it not pc2 not corsa nothing! the driving feel is of its own imo , forza 7 on the pc is the best thing they have ever done! and cross platform , you just opened up heaven for gamers! and with the settings and such , it gives just enough , unlike corsa and pc2 where you are drowning in options where sure if you need to have absolutly every option sure stay with them but forza just has this section covered enough for all of us sim racer or new comers alike!
My only argument to what you've said is the 'collector level' requiring you to purchase a bunch of cars you don't care for in order to get the good stuff. I can't speak for the players who purchased the standard edition but if you own the VIP/Gold edition, you'll be given enough cars to get you to Tier 4. I have been playing for less than 4 hours and I have been given several items (and purchased a handful for career mode sake) and I'm already a quarter of the way to Tier 5.

Subi_fan Yeah i dumped GTA V right after I completed all of the missions and dont get me started on the online portion. But I still to this day find myself playing rdr and gta 4. Idk what is was about gta 5 but I didn't find it fun at all.
Better hope you have a ps4 pro or xbox one x, on the 2014 consoles you will not be getting graphics near the trailer
A quick tip: There is a demo for the game on the windows store. So if you want to check if you have the microstutter problem you could try that.

The micro stuttering is a windows issue and microsoft is working on fixing it sometime in the spring with the next creator patch. It affects all games on the new platform so just sit tight and wait for it. There is nothing wrong with your hardware
Just commenting about what he said on the wheel settings. They actually fixed a problem with the wheel settings forza 6 had. You can now adjust the Wheel Damper and Center Spring and so forth, like in Horizon 3. This is a huge relief for people that don't like how incredibly stiff the wheel feels in Horizon 2 and Forza 6. Great review regardless!

Every review I've seen you make has more thought put into it and most likely more time then really any other review I've seen for games and I've seen wayyyy too many game reviews. Played 25 hours on PC with a gtx 1080 ti 1440p everything maxed out. Had some texture track bugs easily fixed when restarting race (kind of annoying if at the end of a race so have to put driving line on to finish). Had like 6 crashes overall. Still overall performs really well I would say. More than playable

bought the game yesterday. Can say that this review is accurate and honest.
i play at 1080p on pc with gtx1070 - Ryzen7 1700 - 16gb ram. runs very smooth for no. i set the fps to unlocked and i get consistent 90+ fps with around 120fps average depending on the track, weather, and amount of ai. the dynamic options in the video setting make for minimal setting changes. Personally i changed the default res to 1080, set the fps limit to unlocked and turned motion blur off. took 20 seconds to change the settings with good results. the built in benchmark deature is also a very nice addition.
The only reason I'm even remotely interested in 7 is because some older cars and tracks have been brought back. I think personally, Turn10 needs a revolution and not an evolution at this point. They need to say "ok, we got new users. Now they have to grow up." And get back to hardcore sim roots. Revamp the driving dynamics, revamp the sounds, tweak the dynamic weather, get rid of the gimmicky fluff! And honestly maybe a photo realistic style. I love forza as a series but I clapped eyes on the vehicles in GT Sport's photo mode and I genuinely had a hard time believing some of those cars were digital. All I'm saying is take the time, listen to what your die hard fans want to see the next game become...come back in a few years with a game changer. I would love the next forza game to be as dramatic as the jump from forza 2 to Forza 3 and then to 4.
The mods thing I will not be using unless it's a credits mod. I learned that lesson in Forza 6, only due to the fact you can't use any mods in multiplayer. I don't want to get used to mods helping the driving.
You should have mentioned that this game is an xbox everywhere title, giving you access to both the pc and xbox versions for one price which is a big plus but wouldn't affect your scoring -- that said, I loved your review! +sub and I look forward new content from you in the future.
Nice review! The demo ran flawless for me on my pc, thankfully I can play it on pc or xbox one so I will try both. So many good games atm, I am loving Divinity 2 atm and Cuphead looks amazing, Elex and Wolfenstien 2 coming down the road to.
I've been playing this game on PC at all Ultra settings running on an i7 7700K and GTX 1080ti. I have none of these stuttering issues during gameplay. However, during the menus, I do have these issues. That is negligible for me though because I spend the least amount of time in the menus. One things though is sometimes I'm seeing invisible textures while customizing my cars. Also during a race, I decided to drive the wrong direction on the Test Track and the edge of my rims were invisible while traveling in that direction. So yeah there are some goofy graphics issues that are there, but the game is better smooth and I would still say it's a buy on PC. But also don't forget, whether you buy it on PC or Xbox, you still have it on both. So if you have both a PC and and Xbox, there's no reason not to buy it. If you just have a PC, maybe then you should wait. Even still, I don't think it's reason enough to wait based on what I've experienced.
I have Forza 7 for 4K PC. Graphics are good but I stopped playing the game because I just don't like it. Setting up a race takes too much work in the menus. The game has a dark atmosphere, it feels depressing. You cannot select the time of day, so some tracks are just always cloudy and gloomy. When you go off the track it always has the same awful sound, like your car hit a plastic trash can over and over again. The handling of the car doesn't really feel right when the tires are losing traction. You run a race on a track and doesn't let you run another race on the same track, it just skips to a random track next and you have to go through the menu again to select your track. This is very inconvenient and annoying. The force feedback is lacking and feels just basic. It has a good number of tracks but about 30% of them are boring tracks and not fun to race on. I cannot have a rear view mirror on some views also. There's just so many annoying things in this game I just don't play anymore.
I'm downloading the demo now on PC now and hopefully don't have any technical problems. Playing a proper Forza game on PC is something I'd never thought would happen. It's always been my favorite racing series. It's my ideal mix of sim and arcade (with a lot of variability between the two with all the difficulty settings) and most importantly it plays great with a controller. I realize a steering wheel will always be better but I don't want to invest the money and space for a good setup.
That said, Forza 6 didn't really hook me and had a weak career mode so I'm skeptical of this one. I don't mind the collector level though. I've always loved starting out with a D class car, upgrading it, and having to work my way up to the supercars. I have no problem spending more time with slower cars.
I've played all of the Forza Motorsport games except 6 and this one is my favorite one.
I saw that there was an M4 in the game, I own one 2016 model. Awesome damn care, unfortunately I suck at racing games. Always have but this looks cool...

Got this today and its amazing, really tight controls and a heap of little touches like the windscreen wipers shaking at top speed and smudges/dirt on the windscreen after a lap or 2. The lighting is brilliant on the night tracks and in the rain also, expensive but worth it in my opinion the damage model could have been a bit better but thats the only thing they didnt knock out of the park really.
This game is the worst driving characteristics game ive played with a steering wheel. I dont have the fanciest wheel but dam. Waste of 29 bucks

Karak, your comments about F7 stuttering on a beefy PC confirm the release version of the game has the same bug the F7M Demo, and the retail release of FH3 suffered from: The game does not use all the cores in multicore CPUs. It's 2017, and unacceptable that a AAA PC game doesn't use all the cores out of the box. It took FH3 six months to finally patch this in, so the game now runs like it should have on release.

I'm going to wait on this game and if that means another six months (into 2018), at least, I will (hopefully) receive a patched and optimized game for modern PC CPUS and hardware.

You can't race all cars on all tracks and there aren't many tracks. It requires you to use your earned credits to get cars you don't want to get to tiers you want which is so annoying.

If you purchase the game through the Windows Store, the refund option is literally 4 mouseclicks away if you don't like it. So if you're on the fence, there is no reason not to at least try it out.
i actually like the idea of collector points, since you have one more thing to level up - which helps with long time motivation :) but opinions are opinions :D

Stoked that they finally brought the '73 Carrera RS back. It was sad to not be able to drive the glorious air-cooled NA flat-6 in...nothing but a 914.
Corvettes still have a similar problem, though. No NA 'Vette other than the C7R... that isn't over 40+yrs old. With FI and various upgrades being so easy to do it makes little sense, but for the casual lazy 'racer'. I want a GrandSport or Z51 basis to upgrade from please, turn10!
Sorry, but F6 multiplayer sucks dog balls. Apart from crashing every 1-1 1/2 hours like clockwork - It rewards ass-rammers (unless you go custom lobby every time, greatly reducing the pool of possible drivers) and makes it cheap-cake to tune old (70's on back)clunker/muscle cars that would be ridiculously expensive to resto-mod to the level the game allows you to tune them to. ime only 1 in 5 online races tend to be much fun; often more than half of all races are marred by 1st-turn pile-ups. Did you say more multiclass races are in the new one? If so, that helps reduce "the clog".
Wish career mode was more of a season rather than the races being separate.

On Forza Horizon 3 they fixed the Micro Stutters so I really hope they fix it on this one too. Now Horizon 3 runs buttery smooth on PC.
Edit: Apparently on PC the game has the same bug that Forza Horizon 3 did which only uses one core out of the cpu and it uses that only core at 100% and the rest are just idling.

Driving a fwd up a hill in dubai and going slow and turning the car just plows with understeer and thats at 30mph. The baja trucks on city streets is stupid too. I was like this is cool, but back to what makes a drving game good is driving mechanics. It was icecopiods show

Personally I think Forza has rather realistic car physics. Have you tried drifting at all? The weight and power of the cars can really be felt in the turns, and makes it a very convincing simulation.
Love all yr vids and reviews the only thing i would say in my opinion driving the demo back to back with 6 on my tx and xbox one i definitely think the ffb is alot better you say it drives the same but nah for me it definitely feels better and the new in car dash view is great!

The issues from my experience with Forza games are that it splats ‘AWESOME TURN’ on the screen whenever you turn a corner, which seems a bit childish, and that by the end of the game’s cycle the most desirable cars are crammed into an overpriced car pass
I feel like your exaggerating a bit on the turn thing because it’s pretty small off to the left and it’s there for like 2 seconds
This is my situation. Horizon 3 was my first cargame since Paradise City and I fell in love with it. 3 days with Horizon 3 i bought a Logitech G29. After finnishing H3 I bought Project Cars 1. 3 hours later I gave up. The fun factor just was not there for me. Should I give track racing another go with Forza 7 or just wait for a sale? Thanks
Depends on what you did not like about project cars. But I liked FH3, love FH7 and was also disappointed with project cars.
Forza 7 is not filled with 700 cars. Look at the race cars...many cars just have different liverys but they count still as a own car. If we count like that...project car 2 has 500 cars too ;)
Why wouldn't you complain when your emerald pants are too tight? I always do. Great review as always. Hope to see the ACG car on track soon and wreck it ;)

Since Project Cars 2 is not long out and GT Sport is coming soon, I think I'll wait awhile before I get this. Those two games will be enough for quiet some time.
Has anyone else problems with incorrect figures for some cars? The NA Miata has 206hp or something according to Forza 7 PC, but clearly doesn't have a turbo or anything when driving it, as well as a bunch of other cars whose power figures are wrong.
