I recall playing the original Grid and how much fun that was. You had a team manager that gave you updates during the race, you had a nemisis and their position would be highlighted throughout, they would also be better than the other AI on the field and compete with you for the top position. The other AI drivers had life to them, they would crash, spin etc and didn't feel like a scripted racer (Gran Turismo style etc) the replays were awesome to watch, it was like watching a movie with the shaky cam. And above all else, yes the sense of speed was amazing. Oh how much fun that game was
Legends is second best. The damage model isn't as good as 2008 but not as worse as 2019. Nemesis system is a bit broken and they drive like psychotic killers. But it has a meaty story and career mode. Graphics are great and performs great on pc. Grid 2 lacked content and autosport was not engaging. Grid 2019 was lacking on all fronts. Legends is a step in the right direction.

Of course if you come from some primitive village somewhere deep in eastern europe where 90% of the village has ancestral routes to only a handful of families, you will find it strange and weird seeing people from other groups in modern games and movies. But if you are from a country that's actually normal like the US, Canada, Australia, UK, etc... its normal and not woke at all. Plenty of a variety of people in the junior leagues in even some pro leagues.

I installed all my racing games collection from Ea, steam, epic, etc after buying a new ssd. Out of all the NFS, Burnout, Grids, it's still the game I end up playin non-stop.
I imagine owning a proper good game driving setup that's configured correctly enhances the experience significantly - and makes it easier. It's fun, but definitely different worlds, when playing a driving game with a controller.
They also listen to the community and fix any glitches, for example the Big Rig versus Reliant Robin race. It was many years since release, player counts to double digits and I thought the massive glitch in that race wasn't going to be fixed, then I saw a forum and dropped a message. Suddenly days later an update came out for all platforms and they fixed it. Then came the revamp and far more people are playing online now.
One thing you didnt cover, but this is great fun multiplayer with friends. Basically set your house rules about the replay button, and let the fun commence: straight races or something closer to destructipn derby as you smash your way through the field. A great laugh
This game just has more game modes, be it electric, demolition, touge, drift etc that weren't in Grid 2019. Plus the Career in this has actual depth, unlike 2019, where it was just do 10 races and you won this season. Definitely get this over 2019, this is the better package overall

i remember having an absolute blast in the muiltiplayer of grid 1 and 2 on the xbox360. if the online wasn't dead in these games then i would def play them again
Fun fact you can actually play this natively on a quest 2. Graphics are obviously potato but the ai and physics are the same. So considering you can run this on an old phone at superhigh resolution and framerate it's gotta be well optimised.
Grid Legends despite being mostly the same as 2019, with the added dumb story elements nobody has asked for, the driving physics and handling are way better in this one. Just the overall weight of the cars makes a night and day difference and it makes them feel more connected to the road. Even if you own the previous one, this is just a way better package.

Other reviews say: 'in addition of familiar racetracks seen in previous GRID games..." there are about 100 total of different racetracks, *including OFFICIAL reacetracks* and the same goes for the vehicles. And players can *create, save and share* their own custom-made racetracks..and rules! So, yeah! I'm buying! 😉
I liked the Career mode. It was campy in a Cobra Kai kinda way. Way better than just driving around a Forza Horizon map, looking for barn finds in the middle of nowhere.
Yes, grid 1 had an amazing damage system, but car brands didnt like this and demanded codemasters take that out. Grid 1's best feature is what ended up killing the future series. You cant sagotage your opponents or vice versa anymore. Its now a generic racing game.
I am playing GRID Legends, also carrer mode, and my impressions are: Driving is great, way better than NFS and the crew(both feels like smartphone games) Fisics are not ok, your car is paper and the AI car is rock AI sometimes sees you, other times totally ignores your car and crash on you, and because your car is paper, you'll spin on the road Graphics are great, cars needs upgrades in some races, forcing you to spend money
I found the handling a bit better and the graphics better as well. It also had more tracks like London and Moscow. On the negative side i dont think it sounded as good, particularly in the tunnels. I did have performance issues as well, particularly in Chicago when theres heavy rain.
Hit this hard when it came out on PS5 for free - it's not bad, not great with plenty of cut scenes to skip, but put it down after maybe a week and haven't gone back. No idea why, but it makes my eyes go proper gammy when playing this - I think it's due to the poor draw distance (on console at least)
Mack. Sounds like that new wheel is seeing some good action. Try out Assetto Corsa Competizione though. There’s no frills at all, just a fantastic immersive driving sim. I bought a new Thrustmaster wheel a couple of months ago and tried a lot of driving games. ACC was by far the best.
To me, this game is great at what it's trying to be, which is a more casual simcade. Plays well, the career mode is quite extensive, and it looks great. Grid was never full sim, so I don't understand people complaining that it isn't.
GRID is the best racing semi-realistic-arcade game in my opinion. Compared to the others, Grid is just the best. I love the freedom to go around a corner, using the OTHER cars to "bump" off - haha. I HATE racing games that penalize you for driving 2cm over a yellow line. That BS doesn't belong in games.
I have a liking to these games, but I can imagine they are so much better with a wheel and pedals. With mouse and keyboard it is more difficult. But I lack a dedicated table for setup.
@@WundercruX Couldn't get cars to oversteer at all, back end refused to kick out no matter what settings I tried. I realized the problem when I turned around and started driving the wrong way on the track. Try doing that and you'll see the issue I have with the game plain as day.
Thought this game was alright when I played through it a few months ago. Still not a touch on the original Grid from 2008 though. I played the story just out of curiosity just to see how they would do it. Original Grid game is fantastic.
After learning to properly race in sim games I can never go back to arcade racers, it just feels so Fischer Price. Maybe if it was a game on the level of Test Drive but not some shitty arcade clone of a thousand other low tier arcade racers. I'm surprised you gave something like this a thumbs up tbh. I would think of all people you would have even higher standards than me.

I would argue the first GRID was better. Best fun i had with an arcade racer using just the keyboard.

Don't knock electric, just used my new EGO electric mower for the first time and it was speckles-tacular.
Need for Speed 1 was pretty cool with a story, not too much but also not obnoxious

If you liked Project Cars 2 then I think you will like Automobilista 2. Its also amazing in VR. Its my favorite sim at the moment.
Project Cars 2 was horrid, all the cars feel like they're on rails, it was the most unrealistic racing game I've ever played.
