I'll give the darksiders series one thing. They aren't afraid to mix it up. Every game feels different from the last and that variance is kinda noble where many games don't change between sequels.
Yeah, I admit I'm one of those crazy fans who for some reason really likes this series despite not knowing why, I suppose there is a certain heart to it.
Yes! The games have soul, feel like the people who made them love what they do.

I picked up the first Darksiders on PS3 because I thought it would be like God of War. Of course, I was wrong, but it fits in with GoW, Dante's Inferno and DMC.
Rogerio same, has a certain charm that sticks on me

I'm one of those Darksiders die-hard fans. I fell in love with the series the moment I played it and Joe Mad's art style is pure eye candy. I love the characters and the world and of course the gameplay. I'm beyond happy this series managed to survive the fall of THQ and thrive. While I will always prefer the over'the-shoulder type of 3rd person action, I'm really looking forward to seeing how the isometric view works for this game, so far it looks like it works very well. It really sucks consoles have to wait until freakin' February to play this. I for one prefer playing on PS4 and have it preordered there.
You deserve a Reviewer of the year award, Karak. The only problem is that you'll keep holding the title forever.

Change to isometric view aside, this sounds like the type of Darksiders game I've always wanted. Playing as multiple Horsemen and having them talk to each other and seemingly having a lighter touch to Zelda like puzzles and dungeons and more emphasis on action definitely more up my alley.

I will be damned if Darkiders 4 be Resident evil-like which is 3rd person shooter with some melee combat like WFC and FOC Transformers

Really psyched for this, Darksiders is one of my favourite franchises out there. I'm waiting for the console version coming next year, though - seems like a perfect match for some couch co-op!
I gotta admit despite being super disappointed in 3 and not huge into diablo games but man I respect the hell/limbo/heaven/earth outta this series for trying so many new things each game.
I wouldn't call this a "Diablo" game, the only similarity it shares is the camera angle. It's more of a "Gauntlet" game

Same. I'm interested in this but that probably won't carry over to February when I'll be hundreds of hours deep into Monster Hunter: Iceborn's PC launch. They could've had me as a customer if it were available on PC right now.

Great review as always Karak, looking forward to playing this one with my buddy after some patches. Btw, if you use the checkerboardy kinda background you have for your banner and a tiny bit harder of a drop shadow on the text, it'll make the gamefacts more legible imo

I'm so happy Darksiders is still going, I thought after Darksiders 3's lackluster sales that the series would end.
I remember hearing some time last year if the game hit their sales target, THQ Nordic would start looking into making Darksiders 4. I'm pretty sure it did BTW.

Haven't played 3 yet, but Darksiders always deserved more credit than it got I think. I just love the characters and the gameplay is good as well. Hoping they make an actual Darksiders 4 with Strife and then maybe a combined end to the saga...who knows. Just wonder how Strife would play in 3D...maybe a bit like Dante, but more focused on range.
@@Diree 3 is pretty good. It's kind of a tweener between 1&2 from a gameplay perspective. With some of the From Software sauce in the mix.
I will say, though, the evade window in 3 is very tight, until you get a weapon enhancement, which makes that easier.
It's more like 1 in terms of level up/character enhancement, where you just trade souls with Vulgrim. There's not much in the way of the character customization that 2 had. But, the "hollow" mechanic, which changes your weapon type, depending on which hollow your using, and the enhancements for them, were pretty well done.
@@Diree the worlds are also better connected, giving it more of an open world feeling, rather than stages connected to a central hub.
Krull was one of my favorite movies from my childhood, first movie I've seen with Liam Neeson. I'm pretty sure Krull is the reason I have a HUGE fear of spiders.
Good to hear this is more than I thought it would be. Darksiders 3 has been really fun and I'm about ready to do my first Reckoning playthru. Glad to see the franchise may have gotten it's legs back under it.
I can't properly express how excited I am to hear a good review for this game. I loved 1 and 2, 3 was fun althought a bit of a drop off, but the series as a whole is one of my favorites. Will be picking this one up this weekend.

Those gamefact additions are awesome, they have a lot of potential to poke fun or add insight to a title. And the color scheme matched perfectly, for a second I thought they were captured in-game hahaha. Brilliant idea

This was already on my radar, sold.
Joe Madureira, the lead artist of Darksiders, is basically the grandfather of the “WoW/Blizzard/Riot Games” look! His work as a comic artist was ground breaking, merging anime and western comic art in a way no one had done before. I know it’s easy to compare Darksiders to WoW because WoW came first, but in reality, Joe Mad was there before WoW. It’s almost like this art form is in its purest state in Darksiders. Love the review, glad you like the art :)

FYI: World of Warcraft "BORROWED" their look from Battle Chasers, which is a comic made by the co-founder and art director of Darksiders. Battle Chasers predates Warcraft by a good 6 yrs.

Darksiders Genesis has the feel and look of a Diablo game, which isn't bad thing. The overheard camera view is much different from what I'm typically used to in a Darksiders title, but it seems to work well for the most part. Combat itself seems enjoyable. The game looks quite good in terms of it's visuals. However, there is one major problem. Console owners have to wait until February 2020 in order to play Darksiders Genesis while PC users and those who have Google Stadia can play the game on December 5th. Otherwise, thanks once again Karak for another solid review. I really appreciate it!

Really excited to pIay this one. was really surprised that strife was so comedic relief-y. Everyone else is so serious. And I noticed that the voice actor seemed kinda off. But the game looks cool and I like how wars voice actor came back. That's dope.

Feels like Darksiders 3 just came out
Darksiders 3 was good.
Last year(2018). But the original devs are now split into two teams. Gunfire(DS3) and Airship(this game).
@@JimmySquiky It was really meh. In a time where we get highly refined action games like God of War, Nioh, Devil May Cry 5, Nier: Automata, Bayonetta 2, Sekiro... it's hard to hold Darksiders 3 in high regards compared to those. It would have been a good game a generation ago. The action games of this gen raised the bar for what a good action game should be.

I love how this looks like World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King's PS2 era AA cousin. Not that the graphics are bad, but we just don't see releases like this anymore. I miss game companies that made games like these in the 2000s. Support Darksiders!
Im one of those diehard fans that supported the franchise since the first game. One thing that really pulled me in this game is the art style, ive been copying joe mad’s artstyle since i was a kid lol and when DS2 came out oh my god i fell in love with death!!! How he moves how he fights his long hair and his signature purple colors really are my type of traits in an anti hero, aside the red and white of kratos. Joe mad rocks!! He also founded vigil

had no idea what dark siders was about but the fact that it's a "remote play together" title that scratches the diablo itch on steam makes it look very desirable. Just bought it based off this review thanks man!

@@GrimAbstract No, it's not. But what if Strife has died? I mean, we got his two weapons in DS1 and DS2. And guess, either both games it's say "I can't tell you from where did I get it". Perhaps, there is a chance, Strife is actually dead.
@ST• •MD This is the fourth, chronologically, but this isn't "Darksiders 4". AFAIK, the plan is still for Strife to get his own game before combining all four horseman for a (possibly) final game.
I'm glad to hear this game get praise after the lukewarm experience that was Darksiders 3.
really loved first 2 games (and played too much arena in the second), not a fan of a change to top down view and all the resulting camera issues, but will likely give it a try

Having a lot of fun with the game i have about 2-3 hours of gameplay so far. And it runs good on amd and nvidia gpu’s. I tested it on my 2080ti and radeon vii. At $25 its a easy recommendation and i got it for $20 on sale
