To touch on the environmental sounds a tad more - I live in rural England, and stopping the car at the side of the road in FH4 makes it sound like I've accidentally left the window open. For real, it is spot on.
Ö _ Lol, my favorite is when they drove through the tunnel, and you could hear the sound sounding the car, and bouncing off the metal. At 5:35, that was so cool.
It makes sense, because that's the region where the studio is located.

The gravel sound is absolutely amazing. It's like you can hear the individual gravel moving underneath the tires.
That's exactly how audio creators are recording ambient files. They go outside, bring a microphone (often binaural) and record.
I don’t get how ign can post a 5 minute review and consider that a comprehensive review, when we have ACG giving us 17 minutes of opinions. It’s crazy that IGN is so popular.
That's why I stopped watching Ign for reviews. They are too short. I watch Angry Joe, ACG WorthABuy, Dreamcastguy and Dreamilty for reviews of various games.
IGN don't do comprehensive reviews. They do enough to generate clicks, nothing more. They are popular because even the dumb need a home.
It's popularity is vastly waning.
Ign video reviews are more of an summary of thier written reviews but i agree they should make thier video reviews longer considering most watch that rather then read the review itsself.
I'm not sure how old you are but many years ago, before UA-cam, IGN's written reviews were very credible. They were considered some of the most respected and credible reviewers on the net. They really started cutting corners when they pivoted hard to video.
Lower PC specs than Forza Horizon 3, and 60 FPS on Xbox. Glad to see developers still prioritizing optimization and performance!

Riki LivingRoom I really hope it runs well on PC, Forza Horizon 3 was absolutely horrific in terms of PC optimization. I don't have the beefiest computer, but if I drop all the settings and resolution to below that of an Xbox One but still get massive stutters, something's wrong with the game.

Funny how it's almost always the idiot who call other people retards. Many reviewers will get review copies because it's basically free advertising for the game. It costs them nothing to send a game to a reviewer and considering ACG has 500K subscribers, it has a good chance to boost their sales. Even if ONE person buys the game after watching his review, the company has made a good move. Frankly a company would have to be stupid not to send out review copies if they have ever a shred of faith in their product.
Not to mention the fact that failing to inform the viewers that you're doing a sponsored video is a federal crime, you think ACG would mess around with that? There were plenty of times when ACG got an early copy and still was highly critical of the game. God I can't believe I'm actually having this discussion with such a complete moron. Go watch IGN reviews if you don't think ACG is to be trusted.

Playing Racing games for Nearly 25 Years...i must admit...FH4 is almost perfect. It brought the fun back from the older days.
The only change I _hate_ - the finish went from the realistic TV camera-like view to this white space, wtf

Same here. 850 EVO, i5 6500, GTX 1060 6GB, and FH3 stuttered like hell and crashed to desktop every other 10 minutes. Nevertheless, I love the game. FH4 runs muuuuch smoother, with almost no issues
Texshy I downloaded and installed it twice but it just doesn't launch. I've tried everything but nothing seems to work.
I just get a Code FH301 error. FH3 never worked properly for me either.

Sea of Thieves isn't a game that is as much fun as FH4 to play alone, but believe me, with the right kind of people on your ship you can laugh your ass off many more times than other games can let you do that

you didn't mention how it unnecessarily pulls you out of the game at the end of a race, to stare at some stupid screen, instead of the nice race finish animations.

Strangely, I'm a UK left side driver in real life but I could never get used to it in FH3. Playing the FH4 demo it was so instant and natural that I didn't even realise I was doing it for ages. I guess the signs and road markings really helped.

Couldn't get into the last one thanks to it's "make your own fun" approach to difficulty where too much freedom just led to no reward for me from races. I guess I like old school racing game challenge where it was more "here is a race, here are cars, figure out how to win". I'm assuming this one as well has the same nonsesnse amount of real time difficulty tweaking to the point where you might as well just be using cheat codes to make it kinda hard, but not too hard, but actually never hard?
The Forza Horizon games have been consistent for the most part when it comes to their quality ever since the original title came out for the Xbox 360 back in 2012. What began as a spin-off of the Forza Motorsport series has become it's own thing over the years and the games have been very enjoyable. I finally got my copy of Forza Horizon 3, which I've been wanting for the longest time. The game is solid so far. Having said that, I look forward to buying Forza Horizon 4, hopefully before the end of the year. So many great games have been coming out and it's difficult trying to keep up. With that aside, thanks once again Karak for another stellar review. I really appreciate it. Keep it up!

I have a strict rule to never buy my PC games full price but this might be an exception. Optimization out the box is so rare these days that I'm excited that I can actually buy the game and play it without having to wait for a patch to fix a bunch of stuff.
The world looks so nice that I'd like to get out of the car and explore it on foot.
I absolutely cannot wait to get this game. I'm wondering if the base game is enough or it's worth selling the arm and leg for the complete game (just being honest). The demo is 4k 60 on a Ryzen 7 with 1080 Ti.

My one and only main gripe is the change to the Rivals. In Horizon 3, you could choose any track and any car and its class and then setup that car to your hearts content, then try and pull off your top lap time. Horizon 4 you can select any track but you must use their vehicle that's provided and can't change it at all. I get the change, everyone drives the same car,
level playing field and all that but why not have both and two leaderboard types? This really diminished my enjoyment of FH4 but I still like it and still play.

There are some people that think that car destruction physics has never been really improved much in this kind of licensed car racing games (Forza, NFS, Project Cars, GT, etc) because the car companies don't want their cars get obliterated/destroyed "image" by gamers. Is this kind of thing true?

I've heard a few things regarding that.
Similar to what you said though, Toyota isn't in this game for example because their CEO says the games are becoming too realistic which prevents people from buying their cars since they can get the same experience from the games. Pretty dumb.
I have heard that many, many times. It is a big reason why games like Burnout, Beam NG, Flatout, and Super Street even all have made up car modles.
I do know this was DEFINITELY true at a point. For a time, a prerequisite for having Ferraris in games was not having the roof deform for one reason or another. I think Horizon 2 has this, but i’m not too sure

Thought I'd buy it when black friday sales were going on...but kinda prefer Australia's map over England's, might as well wait when they sell it for dirt cheap. The game doesn't look like it's changed much from FH3 other than map and few other things. These are very fun arcade games, better than the crew or nfs (the heat looks very promising though).

Yeah I turn the music off too. I don't like a good majority of the music they add to racing games. A lot of electronic music and I'm good it's not my thing. I just play Spotify in the background and listen to my own music while playing the game. Makes it much better if you ask me.

I'll likely never play this but watched the review regardless out of curiosity, as a brit - its eerie how many of the locations seen in this video look just like places I know around the country, their environment design really looks to be absolutely top notch.

It says the 27th on the UK store and the 28th on the US store which confuses me just I little I know there’s time differences but what time will I be able to play in the UK?
The pop-in on PC is supposedly a bug, since some settings make no difference whether on low or extreme. PG is aware of it though.
I think the lack of severe physical damage on the cars, has to do with the manufacturer licenses.

Did you find the chase camera annoying? In 10:20 for example it looks like the front of the car is sliding instead of the rear because the camera isn't anchored in the center of the car. I found this almost game-breaking with some cars in the demo, making correcting oversteer way more difficult than it should be (and I didn't have problems with the other views) so I found myself switching into cockpit cam which I usually don't use.

I really hope to someday see other open world games have seasons, the way most games do it now with different biomes is cool but man it would be awesome to have an ever progressing timeline that had the seasons change every so many in game days.

Was just about to search for a review of this when I saw this video pop up on my subs feed. Wish it didn't cost $99 on the MS store when you can get a physical copy on Xbone for $69.

You’re looking at the Ultimate Edition, man. The other editions aren’t that much.
It's a £10 difference between physical and digital here. Would you rather a physical ultimate edition where all you get is the base game, steelbook and DLC codes or the whole thing digitally...I opted for the latter (giving the option to play on Windows too).
I have a Fanatec CSL Elite (PS4) and can confirm it is fully supported this time around (On PC) right down to the lights on the base and display on the wheel.
Even small potholes can be felt while just cruising around having fun.
Can't speak for all wheels, but the Fanatec works well!
this is always so strange. People with the same wheel reporting its terrible after hours of testing you seeming to have it work great.

Always saw this as the Xbox Gran Turismo series. Always looked great and it seemed to sell well and rate well on the few friends of mine that game on the Xbox. I hate the regional pricing MS put on its store.
Value has put $60 games to be Rs. 1299, based on the purchasing power of our currency.
Game costs Rs. 3999, almost the direct conversion of $60 price tag, and nowhere near feasible.
It's called "regional" pricing for a reason!
I don't know why publishers treat its Non-US/EU customers so badly.

I know it’s primarily a driving game,, but the cheesy dialogue , and characters put me right off
uuh it's a racing/driving game and shouldn't have excessive dialog IMO even the mainline games are the same way excessive tutorials for people who know what they're doing.....I know the games but good gods why am I being bombarded like this???

I am glad to head somebody who is not a Forza fanboy saying great things about this game. It is shaping up to be the best Horizon, and maybe the best Forza yet
I recently upgraded from forza horizon 2 on Xbox 360, to Xbox one s forza 7 and now forza horizon 4 and my only problem with the game is the audio glitches that happen, when the audio lags and you have to pause the game to fix which sometimes gets annoying, otherwise this game is bloody awesome
Forza Horizon 4 should do a Tokyo dlc expansion.

Why? An i7 is plenty for anything that's come out so far. More than enough, really.
The only reason to get the Ryzen is if you wanted to use it for content creation - something it does better than an i7.
I wish you would've mentioned they left out Toyota, but I'm sure I'll have fun with the game!
He did mention that there's a few noticeable omissions in the car roster. Will miss driving around in a Supra though.

They didn’t “leave out” Toyota and Mitsubishi. The respective companies did not renew licensing contracts so the developers couldn’t use them even if they wanted to.
