- PLANE CRASH AT PORT MIAMI AND IS SUBMERGED UNDER WATER! | HAULOVER INLET BOATS | WAVY BOATS
Cessna 208 Caravan aircraft came down in a channel between the port's cruise ship terminals and a causeway that connects Miami to Miami Beach, according to Miami-Dade Fire Rescue. The single-engine Cessna 208 was trying to reach the nearby Miami Seaplane Base, according to the Federal Aviation Administration. The plane overturned and was half submerged. All 7 people inside were safely rescued and did not need medical attention.

Was this landing Pilot error? Where is everyone watching from? 🌎
New Zealand
Looks like they came in fast. A lot of altitude traded for speed right before touch down.
Vermont
New Mexico.....the harbor water looks beautiful today. Appreciate the video. Amazing rescue!
At Home in Hialeah what appears text book ditch . TG , it ended well & checking Blancolirio for the whole scoop.
This is an example of how people, who are normally involved in their own immediate concerns, can focus, care, and unite to help others in time of dire need. It touches the heart.
Well in this case, its a good example of tax dollars at work, supplemented by a hefty salvage bill to the owner. Very little time wasted here with response.
Dire??
Except the guy on duty, he had no clue until everyone else showed up
@@cpete3336 true
The closest officer was the slowest to get to them, clearly they cared so much.
The question of the prop turning. The Pratt and Whitney PT-6A turboprop engine would have injected a great deal of water upon landing, snuffing out the combustion in the combustion chambers. When the plane was being towed, the prop was windmilling in the current. Unlike a piston engine, which is nearly impossible to rotate without considerable force, a turbine engine is freewheeling, easily turned by hand or water flowing around the prop.
On another YT channel, Paul S has some excellent photos and video of the plane hitting the water and the passengers exiting the plane and standing on the pontoon. The video was taken by a passenger aboard the cruise to the far right of the frame of when the plane crashed.
Maybe not as that prop is turning mighty fast in the tow. Air intake is near the prop to feed the engine. Ask Pratt & Whitney what their thoughts are!

That response time is impressive
The video's sped up.
Talk about being prepared!! Great job getting that plane out of the water so darn quickly.
this port is legit as heck
Seriously. Amazing emergency response, the absolute best place to have to do an emergency landing. Reminds me of Captain Sully landing in the Hudson River near the ferry terminal -- there was similarly a massive immediate response to that water landing. These pilots know what they're doing.

Darn it, too bad the darn cop in the darn boat didn't put down his darn donut in order to do his darn job and pay DARN attention to the darn waterway~
You're so darn polite; Do you eat any darn shrimp cocktails?
@FLL Of course I do! And damn is spelled this way.
Glad everyone is safe, just goes to show you that we have the best first responders and recovery teams in the world, thank you to the men and women that keep us safe.
the private boaters would have been there quicker and done the job for free
@@megamilyon6111 In this case it was a private boat that got there first, or at least it appeared to be. The police boat on the water didnt eve start moving till the private boat coming in the harbor was almost there.
What is it with you people always having the need to shout "we are the greatest and best in the world?" Why does everything has to involve you or anyone who has nothing to do with the situation at all. There's pride and than there is over compensation for something. It's pretty sad actually.
Lol

As we prepare our income taxes.
I wonder why they did not support the right wing from a small boat at once?

Officer Derp to the rescue.
He landed with a fairly strong tailwind. You can see the windsock at the seaplane basin was fully extended which indicates a 15+ knot/17+ mph wind. There was also a good deal of wave action in the bay at the time. High landing speed due to a strong tailwind combined with moderate waves caused the right side float to collapse.
Is that a designated landing area?
1:00 The plane enters the harbor airspace
1:23 It touches (splashes) down
1:42 The pilot guns one last time but the prop's in the drink
2:08 (video break)
2:11 Officer returns from siesta
In a previous lifetime, I worked the Lake Patrol team (an extension of the Lifeguard team) at a very large, high profile resort with a couple lakes, wildlife and water fowl, and water craft rentals. What could possibly go wrong?
Point being: I think I have some standing to ask, "WTF was the water patrol doing?"
Thanks Wavy, good stuff.
The rescuers arrived very quickly thank goodness

@@frontenac5083 Yes, indeed
Award winning. Excellent coverage, complete and comprehensive. Thank you for being one of the FEW sources that is thorough from start to finish, and without useless drivel from faceless humans.
Amazing work by the emergency services the barge and crane team , great to see very quick work done without having to have a meeting/debate on how to do this . Just get it done 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Those boats @ 2:39 flat out cruising ! The response reminded me of the miracle on the Hudson !

Great video and the way you presented it was awesome. It was the full story that wasn’t broken down second by second, where people talk about the water temperature in the air density and the type of paint on the bottom of the pontoons and all the other BS. Thanks you very much!
Great video, much more informative than the local news.
This is the kind of response you WANT to see when something bad happens on the water. Just a few short minutes and all hands on deck.
Any landing you can swim away from is a good one.
As an old seaplane pilot, It look from a distance like the float was intact. The access hatch or hatches popped open and the compartments flooded, causing that side to sink. The left float kept the plane boyant. Probably a 1-2 million dollar plane. Just the floats alone are really expensive!
Superb, that was a really experienced and good pilot
I noticed a turbine failure @0.17 , the pilot did an amazing job coming in with no power , no Beta ..
Fantastic, everything went well! It could have been a minor catastrophe, thanks for sharing.
Instant recovery of the aircraft. Good job.
Someone call Jimmy's World, see if he wants a slightly submerged seaplane.
Jimmy WOULD def buy it. I mean, he bought Elvis's plane and it was an absolute wreck.
This will cost more than the jet
rescue response is amazing in the u,s,,,.,..Tkzz for sharing,.,.peace
Wow, thanks for this video!
We'll get the lowdown later from Dan and Juan.
Awesome coverage!
Quick response! 👍
Wow, that is a lot of equipment all together at once.
Time to go have some drinks and celebrate life!
Texas. Great video. Glad all are safe. Hard to place blame and I do have a seaplane rating.
What a fast response!!!!
Amazing teamwork!
Absolutely great job
Thank you....Fantastic video !!!!
Wow great and fast work coming from the barge/crane operators. They sure got it out of the water fast. Can't imagine what that salt water did to the engine and other parts but the people are safe and that's the most important thing!
Crazy how many assets are on scene that quickly
Crazy how it's all paid for.

crazy i keep port cams up as background while at my desk and saw this happen live lol reminded me the day scarlet lady backed into that pier thing, i saw them cutting/welding on that thing all day lol
Thank you guys for doing this video I was. wondering how it ended up there.
How slow was that first boat, Captain finishing his donuts.
I was watching the harbor live cam when this came in and partially sank.
I was woah that was wild.
A plane on pontoons! Definitely a boat channel here.. hahahaahh!!!!! Love your content BTW
I had just boarded the NCL ship that it landed next to and caught the crash from the upper pool deck, shit was crazy looking. That plane landed hard I'm surprised no one got hurt.
At 2:11 Damn 👌 the view is just so beautiful.
Saw it happen as I was on the cruise ship right next to it, craziest thing ever. Wish I could upload photos
Excelente vídeo! ✈✈✈👍
Nice job with the cops in the patrol boat. They were probably getting some sun and on their cell phone didn’t happen to see a airplane crash within 150 yards of them.
That plane is totalled for sure
Nah bit of elbow grease it should buff out
No way it's totalled. What makes you think that?
@@Airplanefishyou obviously do not know anything about airplanes. The avionics are toast! The engines are toast going under water and in salt water at that ! You know nothing about the effects of corrosion on an airframe!
@@Airplanefishare saying it is totaled? Or it is not? I may have misunderstood what you said! In the end! Nothing is salvageable on that frame except anything that did not get submerged.
@TheFalconJetDriver the engine can be removed and replaced along with all the accessories. The Avionics and wiring can be removed and replaced. The aluminum on that plane has probably been sprayed with corrosion X. Only the right wing, aileron, flap and part of the fuselage were under water. Remove interior and all panels then flush with fresh water. The control cables are stainless. The sheet metal is not damaged from impact. That plane is worth alot. Those are also whipair floats. With retracts.
Amazing how emergency crew came together to carry out the rescue!
Curious question, this is going to get billed to the owner/insurance? This looks like a expensive operation.
Wery fast rescue reaction.! Perfect
That's gonna be a hefty bill 😮
Good job by the pilot, and the rescue team. Crane team was awesome too.
Wake up officer, there is a whole plane behind you.
Super interesting video! 👍🏼
GOOD JOB FIRST RESPONDERS
PT6 turbine engine props freespool when the engine stops. The action of towing it backward in the water is turning the blades.
I was on the cruise boat right beside this as it happened. I wish i was recording.
Wow that was very interesting and just think it only took less than 15 minutes
Awesome job to All …. Hey New York …learn anything here?
Congratulations…. Any emergency landing is a great landing
Boy, what a bad break, the plane was submerged AND underwater. One or the other is bad enough, but both!
I saw this happen. I was on one of the cruise ships.
The prop is turning because of water movement. Somebody commented earlier upon the difference between an engine of this type and a normal piston engine and why it would spin as it was being towed.
Looks like emerency landing was downwind - could explain why they came down hard enough to damage the float.
Better outcome than Chalk’s flight 101.
The engine is still running. The pilot has not cut off the condition lever.
By direction of smoke pilots got some crosswind working against him.. im no aviation engineer but i reckon it played a significant role in this incident.
Absolutely Captain. We had a S.S.W. strong wind today. That is the most challenging wind for that plane during west operations.
😢 Salt water, not good...
Thanks for sharing our video with your audience! You're the best! 🙌
Can we appreciate Miami response time for something like this. 💯
What a crazy afternoon this one was huh ?
Indeed Mikro, you guys had a lot of people in the chat today.
He sure messed up that landing
Of course not! Any landing you walk away from, is a good landing
I'm glad they were able to land safely! But what is that flying from right to left at the 2:15 minute mark? It doesn't look like a plane🤔
No clue. I zoomed in on a screen grab and all I could make it was something blocky in shape moving right to left. Appears to be a plane and not a helicopter (there is a helicopter on the left hovering, blackish or reddish).
I stand corrected, there is another plane just ahead of it, it's a towed flag/sign.
@@PerfectedEvil- good catch! I saw the smaller object ahead, thought it looked odd, like a. image anomaly. I was thinking here comes the UFO conspiracies & throw in The Fifth Element taxi 🚖 for good measure!
I wonder what the emergency was. They put the plane down HARD. I wonder if it was medically related.
looks like they were flying fine, had decent control.
Police boats are always in that port they were there very quickly glad everyone is safe.
The video's sped up.
It seems amazing that the cop who was only about 3500 feet away at the time the plane touched down was the THIRD to arrive on the scene when the others had travelled more than 1 1/4 miles to get to the plane. What was he doing?
Yes, I watched it back on the YT cruise ship channel and couldn't understand why that boat didn't respond. That poor little plane sat all alone in the water for what seemed like ages.
Well to be honest, they may have been doing other police related matters, write ups etc.
They are quick enough to go flat out to tackle an unsuspecting capt who dares to stray into Government Cut, but dead slow to go to the aid of a crashed aircraft.
They are human. If they were looking somewhere else at the time they could easily miss it.
That much salt water ingress I bet that plane is a write off
It would be ideal if they removed all the panels like during an annual and flushed it with fresh water asap
Agree, Remove only the battery and dip it into the big water pool.a lake etc...
Off topic... can owners request their own (custom) tail number/identifier?
This is a Cessna Caravan. It uses a Pratt & Whitney Canada PT6 gas turbine engine, there are no pistons. It is a free turbine design, which means that a small jet engine [gas generator] blows against a turbine, and the shaft from that turbine through a reduction gearbox turns the propellor. When it is shut off you can reach up and easily turn the prop with your hands, so the spinning prop is probably from the water passing by. Normally, free-turbine turboprops like this revert to the full feathered position when oil pressure is lost.
Obviously, the airplane is a complete loss-
It’s commonly called a turboprop not a gas generator, but yes it’s a P&W PT6A with 675 hp.
That PT6 was still running. Maybe the pilot wanted the electricity from its generator to power a pump or maybe they just panicked and got out and left it running.
@@blueskies8834 Not likely. Water for sure got into the intake and it shut down.
@@GRosa250 Really? I didn't know that....
Now go look up "gas turbine" and get back to me when you've done your homework little girl~
Just saw your video on ABC World News.
I scrolled through and didn’t see anyone answer your question about the prop. That aircraft is a turboprop so the prop can windmill. Right after touching down I’m sure the pilot cut the throttle and shut off the fuel!
What the [censored] was the caption of the indicated [police?] boat doing, sleeping ? Any competant caption should have been aware of the plane before it crashed. It's called situational/environmental awareness. They should be aware of EVERYTHING that's going on around their boat at ALL times. Failure to be aware could put their ship in danger at any moment.
A pilot never has a bad landing, its always the asphalt.... (or in this case waterfault)!
Who is the U-Boat commander?
Does the crane company provide divers?
Fuel and oil contain?
If that's N85WL, Flight radar shows them coming from West Palm Beach.
OMG AT 2:13 WTF IS IN THE SKY
IT LOOK LIKE IT PROJECTED SOMETING
Guardian Angels watching over them; protecting them
why is the engine still running?
what are those UFO looking things at 2:14 at the top of the screen. There's a couple of them. Not talking about the helicopter or whatever is pulling the banner. One going right to left and another one going right to left.
I saw windshields reflecting the sun.
It’s a plane towing a banner

the right float took on water after landing
"This officer did not notice the landing until the call came in"
Of course not! A fresh box from Dunkin Donuts was in front of him; Did you expect him to do his job?
Sea planes have a terrible history in that port.
Seaplanes have a horrible history. Fixed it for ya.
👍👍 👏👏👏👏👏👏
It's being towed that's why the prop, half in the water, is spinning.
Might have broken the right hand strut (noticed the crazy loss of directional control in the first 100 yards of landing), and/or punched a whole into that float.
