This video shows how fragile life is, and in a second, everything can change for the worse. Our purpose in showing this content is to raise awareness among people whenever they're on a boat, to stay ALERT (Avoid consuming drugs and alcohol, use PFDs etc). Captains must be aware of their passengers, especially in such high-traffic areas like Miami, to prevent accidents that can cost lives. STAY SAFE ON THE WATER !!
It was incredibly frustrating to watch! I hope people learn from this. It was incredibly frustrating to watch. How the boaters acted around him (like running over someone who is drowning). If only someone tossed him a lifevest/ float. Sad.
Two boats feet away and not one life ring being thrown in the water. Just watching like it's a tick toc video. It's a shame. The two that jumped in to help are heroes.
He looked like a skilled diver. I'm torn because, if he saw something people in the water didn't, and he was as skilled as he seemed to be then save the life.
@@kendog0731he would have had a chance had all those boats thought to use their throwables. I can’t believe not one was tossed in the water for him. That river should have been peppered with them. Tragic
All those boats and no one threw a throwable in for him.. knowing everyone is required to have one… all those people and all those boats. All he needed was something to grab onto. There was still time. Tragic
Thank you for sharing the video, As retired Coast Guard, this shows how important it is to brief your crew and passengers on operations of boat safety. My heart and prayers goes out to the family of this young lady. If you notice in video no one deployed a life saving device such as a life ring. One boat even had life jackets hanging on the stern. If the Captain of this vessel was operating an illegel charter he is facing many years in prison only to make a few quick bucks. So sad!
I just said in another comment that every boat out there should have had enough life vest on board for every person. How come not one single person thought to grab one and throw it? Blows my mind. This made me angry. Hats off to rescue who recovered him so quickly. Do you think they’ll be able to save him or was 14 minutes under water too long?
@@TankTheSpank wow so sad. I haven’t read any news on this other than this video. Just breaks my heart there were so many with life preservers and nobody threw one.
Agreed, that jet propulsion on the ski woulda made it safe to skirt over and pick up that man’s climbing the ladder to heaven. Unfortunately them ppl operating that ski lacked the knowledge and or training to help the man’s that day, all they knew to do was scream and point when they had their opportunity to be a Hero 😤
The white cruiser to the right was in better position than the ski. Look at the time marks they had at least 18-20 seconds to get to him before he went under. You can see them waving at 12 seconds into the video, and likely saw him before that.
I really have to applaud and give a huge thanks to the cameraman for keeping his cool and documenting this tragic event so well. It will really help explain what happened to the authorities, and also help the first responders. For the first responders to be able to see how it all unfolded can help them immensely for their current practices, and also process improvement. Please don’t take that out of context. The first responders did an absolutely awesome job, and it is a miracle that they found the man in those conditions. They are true professionals as is the cameraman.
My heart sank to the very bottom watching this. Seeing how much effort went into locating the victim and trying to save their life. I'm new to the boating world and just passed my safety certification course. I can not stress enough how important this course can be. The #1 thing that is constantly repeated throughout the course is the importance of wearing your PFD. 🙏🏽
That and having quick access to a throwable. Too many times those things get pushed around and to the back of a hatch. This video has reminded me how important it is to always know where that thing is. I can’t believe no one threw one to him, knowing all those boats had one on board.. or should have.. but I’d bet they all had one, no one thought to use it!..???!
First responder here. First hats off to Miami PD and Fire. We train are butts off hoping to never use our skills. Second, those who went to assist the person drowning should be commended. Saying that you are the rescuer you don't want to be the one that has to be rescued. For the person who jumped from the bridge. Just don't. You could have added another rescue to the situation. Thank you for showing respect for the person and the person's family. To the idiots recording with their phones. WTH are you thinking?
I don't follow fully. Saying I am not a rescuer, but able to swim, in close proximity, Why I should not try to save the guy ? Surely You are trained as hell but well You weren't in the area when the event happened. Ps: I am European so I may not know rules applied in US.
Prayers to everyone involved and I hope the man survived. I’ve got to give credit when credit is due. Miami First responders did an amazing job here. The guy went under water and did not resurface at 3:33PM and the dive team had him resurfaced at 3:53PM. Only 20 minutes is astonishing to me. Put it into context from the 911 call, to help responding, to getting crews into the water, and considering the waters in the rivers are murky, water current, boat traffic, etc… To find him in 20 minutes is amazing.
i fell into the ocean twice as a child. Once on my own boat in Brazil when I was 7 the other time in the amazon river at 11...i knew how to swim very well from a young age so I was ok....I agree , one of the most imortant skills someone should learn
Everyone is saying that all those ppl watching on the boat should have jumped in but we don’t know how good of swimmers they were, saving a drowning person is hard and dangerous because they are freaking out and they will grab you and pull you under very easily. I just can’t believe that several floatation devices weren’t being thrown from every direction as soon as they noticed he was in the water.
100% should be criticized. He put his life at risk and the original persons life at further risk as it would have been easy for him to have gotten seriously hurt splitting the resouces of the emergency services personal.
That kid was jumping for fun. His buddy was waiting to pick him up in the little white skiff down below. A man just happened to drown at the same time...
Felt really powerless watching this video, very frustrating being a life guard for many years to watch people not helping another human in distress. Kudos to the people that jumped in to try to help and my condolences to the family of the individual that drowned.
there should have been at least 2 people immediatly in the water helping him and he wouldve been fine...instead of everyone pointing...there was no current just small boat wake he wouldve been saved quick, ten pointers no helpers!
An experienced lifeguard in that situation would probably be the difference between life and death. The man's arms appeared outstretched to his side and flailing inefficiently along with the rapid disappearance of the man underwater would indicate he was panicking and a untrained swimmer could find themselves in the same situation with two instead of one drowning. You need to be trained in the approach and rescue of a panicking person.
As an ex-RNLI lifeboat crew, this was distressing too, why didn't no one come to his aid from the boat to the right past there were 4-5 looking down at him, and the same all around, and why did boats keep motoring over the spot where the 2 divers were looking for him!
@@hardergamerMaybe they could not swim either. Or they would know that if you are not a strong swimmer then the drowning victim will just clamp on and then there would be two people drowning. What is amazing is why nobody threw out at least a lifebuoy or some sort of floatation device.
Take my comment back. The jet ski guy did jump in but never pulled up on scene. He swam for 100 ft first. Props on that. But my god a jet ski. Get in there man
I think he thought- rightly- that by driving over, he'd make the water rougher for at least a minute and the guy was already struggling. Really, by the time he saw the guy and registered that he wasn't able to stay up on his own, the guy was actually going under for the last time. It was a short swim and generally, you're going to have a better shot at locating them if you don't create any waves or extra movement. Unfortunately, the guy was pulled under really quickly and apparently pretty far because dude was right there within seconds. Him driving the jetski over really wouldn't have saved any time, 3 or 4 seconds at most, but you'd still expect the guy to be closer to that spot.
Praying has never helped anything. It has only started wars. Ppl shouldve thrown floatation devices in the water and also jumped in. Could’ve been prevented.
That water is no joke. I can't count how many times I've been up and down that River into the Biscayne Bay with passengers who think it's just the backyard swimming pool.. It can go 0 to 100 real quick. 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾
Such a narrow channel with shear concrete walls that cause rebounding waves plus the turbulence from many boat propellers churning up the water plus river currents, then booze, impairment,no thanks.
@@joesprague1464 but does that prevent you from treading water? Looks like the guy panicked because they couldn't swim when all the other swimmers were absolutely fine
Not one person from the boat he fell off of jumped in to help their friend! At 1:19 they are right over the spot he went down. They are all screaming for others to help. Great friends.
UPDATE Days after a 23-year-old drowned in the Miami River, his friends are still trying to understand the tragedy. According to Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission officials, it was around 3:30 p.m. Sunday when Trevonte Johnson, or Vonn, as his friends called him, fell into the water near the mouth of the Miami River from a chartered boat. Several people tried to rescue him but couldn’t. Vonn was unresponsive when divers found him at the bottom of the river on Monday. One of the victim’s friends told NBC6 he was hesitant to take the trip to Miami and now they’re wishing he never did.
Why didn’t the caption of the boat he was on helping him. So so sad!!!! Why doesn’t anyone west life jackets ? This was just SAD!!!!!!! Bless him and his family !! 💔💔💔
my heart goes out to that man and the ones who jumped in to save him. its absolutely gut wrenching to see shit like this and it makes me even more frustrated at how few people even bother wearing PFDs. everyone thinks they're too strong of a swimmer to need one... even after a few drinks... even after waters get rougher... even going fast and battling the surf... they never stop to recheck that assumption
Crazy how a throwable is a requirement for a boat yet no one thinks to throw one out to at least try and help the person but would rather record and watch from the boat
If not for my Uncle I would have drown when I was 6 years old. I walked off a pier thinking I could get on one of the barrels I seen everyone getting onto. No one was on the pier and I decided to try it. My uncle just happened to see me bobbing up and down. I still can see the lake water and the fish that swim in front of me. I have a very healthy respect for the water now.
I had a similar experience at a very young age. I was at Lake George, NY. My Grandpa's boat was tied to the dock. My older brother and cousins were in the boat. I wanted to join them. As I was straddling the boat to enter it, I slipped on my wet bathing suit and fell between the dock and the boat. I still have the memory of looking up underwater as I started to sink. My Uncle was apparently the only one to see me fall. He ran from the beach, jumped in, and pulled me out. I was taking lessons right after that incident.
The behavior and lack of action by the boaters who were in reach of this person was absolutely disgusting. Did he fall off of one of the boats and if so why didn’t that boat go after him.
The LAST thing you want in this situation is "more people in the water." The bigger problem was that NOBODY had a PFD or Life-Ring or any other flotation device to throw to him when he was still struggling on the surface. More people in the water...especially untrained and drunken people...only means "more victims" and more chaos for the trained first responders to sort out. ESPECIALLY that numb-nuts who jumped off the bridge.
It did suprise me that with that jet bike so close that he would be rescued. And so many people watching.Do boats not have a bouy they can trow in,or is there not one on the walk way beside the inlet?.Very sad when so many people there, and yet he still went under.😔
The person diving off the bridge had a safe soace in the water and probably knew the locstion of the victim. Perhaps it's something you wouldn't do. e@pastorjerrykliner3162
from watching boating videos very few wear a pdf. I dont get it. Our entire family wears them the moment we get on boat even though we are excellent swimmers. the problem is that you never know when a accident will takes place , hit your head or get injured during a boating accident. The whole world was right there feet away from that person and did absolutely nothing until it was too late. I'm a strong swimmer, I would have gone in immediately risking my own life, live or die trying, I can at least say I tried. Condolences to that person and the families.
I couldn’t believe how no grown men right there just watched! My dog would jump in to save me with out a doubt. It is so important to know how to swim or wear a life vest if you don’t.
Surfer here and I came around the Ingraham corner of mission bay in San Diego going east and saw a tourist rented sail boat upside down, don’t ask, and full pale white family in water with new born! Who takes new born on a mini sail boat! Jesus. I had my wet suit half way on as we were wake surfing so it took me a second to pull my wetsuit back up over my shoulders and zip up otherwise it would’ve been like a bag and weighed me down and hindered assistance to everyone including myself. If I didn’t zip up I was only going to be an additional problem. But still that brief seconds were faster than what happened here! These people waited almost a minute or 2! I had my suit up zipped and jumped in the water in about 15-20seconds! Tops! I grabbed the baby from the mom who was treading water barely and dad wasn’t even right next to them all! We got them to shore as close to the area of capsized boat and left them on ground and called rescue and left. I’ve had 2 other encounters as a surfer reaching people and none are recognized. No major news article or anything. It’s called just being human.
I did search and recovery for 15 years. I hated going after children the worst. The mindset you must have compiled with folks watching every move you do makes this job about the most stressful you can get. RIP to the ones we never saved.
I was looking at one of the boat while divers were trying desperately to search for tbe missing person this particular boat the women were still having their fun didn't even bothered about a life is in danger 😮😢 so sad 😢 😢😮😢😮
You mean the women waiving? The person had just fallen into the water, and there was no reason to believe they were going to drown. They were 1st yelling at the offending vessel to tell them someone fell off of their boat, then another boat that was approaching the person in the water as they did not want them to hit them. With the chaos, it does not show how this person fell off, and who knows what was going on. In that regard, you can't judge the women in this boat. I'm confident they likely had no idea this was going to result in a drowning.
@BPRescue jo there was another boat with some young ladies like they were so unconcerned about what exactly was happening imagine a life in danger and they still enjoying themselves
If I owned a boat, I'd make sure everyone understands and is able to get themselves out of the water and back into the boat. If you can't swim, or are too heavy and out of shape, no boat ride for you.
@@BennettBuilt-yu2gw You're silly. How are you going to determine swimming capabilities. A Red Cross certificate. If no certificate. .. Your skill set....10 yds, 20 yds, 30 yds etc. The ability to tread water is more important. Swimming is physically a waste of energy. Good PFD's are best and most important the ability to retrieve into vessel. I have had ocassion to to rescue, in the wate,r multiple people. Ability to swim was not the issue. A proper and functioning PFD was critical. Getting them back on board was the most difficult. In my instance, three people to accomplish. The majority of rescued are unable to assist...fatigue.

A life jacket would have saved this person's life. People get mad at me on my boat, saying I'm too strict. This is exactly why things happen very quickly. On a boat and when you're the captain, you gotta pay attention to 20 different things at once. RIP To the woman who passed away.
From Local10 News (March 19, 2024): "MIAMI - Authorities identified a man whose body was found in the Miami River near the Brickell Avenue bridge over the weekend. According to the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, Trevonte C. Johnson, 23, of Coila, Mississippi, fell off of a chartered boat at around 3:30 p.m. Sunday. “Several (people) jumped into the water from various vessels and locations in an attempt to rescue the victim, but were unsuccessful,” an FWC report states. Officials said Miami Fire Rescue personnel recovered Johnson’s body from the bottom of the river. “They subsequently provided CPR, but were unable to revive him,” the report states. “He was transported to Jackson Memorial Hospital’s Ryder Trauma Center.” Johnson was with five other friends visiting South Florida from the Magnolia State, according to FWC. Authorities believe his fall was accidental. The report states that it’s unclear whether alcohol was a factor."
So sad and tragic watching this unfold. Thank you for editing the video in such a manner in respect to the victim. Prayers for her family and friends. RIP 🙏🙏🙏
I looked this up on UA-cam and the news said he survived unless it is 2 different incidents I seen someone mention it on the comments but if u type this in u will see that it says they survived
In fairness once that guy went down no one was going to find him without scuba gear. That water has a 2' visibility at best. You'd have to dive to the bottom and find him by feel. I was surprised more people did not jump in to help before he went all the way down, however.
@mhxxd4 , seems like he did but driving over instead of the long swim probably would have saved the life. Maybe he realized what was happening too late
That was the first person in the water. He may have hesitated for a second and I'm sure if he could go back he would have gotten closer faster but he tried to save this persons life while everyone else watched him die.
Do you see all the Black girls on the Boat close to the Camerer position doing High Fivers and not ever thinking or even caring about a person who's just died right in front of them??? Is this what the kids are like these days on spring breaks? God help the future generation.
GENERATION X THEY WILL NEVER SURVIVE ESPECIALLY IF ALL OF COMMICATIONS ON CELL PHONES DIE OUT THEY WILL GO IN INSANE ..SURVIVEAL WOULD BE THE DEATH FOR THEM . ☠️ IT'S A CRYING SHAME TO SAY THAT BUT IT'S TRUE AND SAD .🤢
Just goes to show people assumed he would be okay, not knowing what to do. Even the pwc could’ve gotten there sooner but they probably assumed things weren’t as bad as they were. Once the person goes under they don’t come back up. Need to catch them before they go under.
I was an EMT in Florida. He was under too long. After 9 min parts of his brain are dying by the second. If its a child and its cold water they say never say die. I'v known of cases 30 and even 32 min under with no brain damage. reality sucks
This has been the most difficult video to edit since we started recording content in Miami in 2018. That's why we censored many parts of the video, including his face or body reaction. It's even more chilling
It was very sad.Loads of people around and still went under.I was rescued from the thames in england as a child.Made my stomach go tbh.Poor man.Tragic when so many people close by.
@@BoatZone You did well with your edit. The story message doesn't need to show the person's distinguishing features. It could have been anyone and that is the point. As a boat captain, the message that we are responsible for our passengers is a good message that needs to underscored. I enjoy your content but boating has big responsibilities.
And yeah.....it happens just that fast. 30 years ago we were at Lake Powell on a houseboat, with a 24' ski boat and 4 jet skis. We heard a man overboard distress call from a boat down channel. We used the ski boat and jet skis to offer assistance. We were the 2nd boat on scene, a man had jumped off the top of another houseboat and did not come back up (father of the family on board the other houseboat). We used our fish sonar and a surface search to look for the guy, until Search / Rescue arrived. He was not wearing a life vest when he went overboard and he was never found.
Wow, it's incredible how everything changes in a second. The best thing we can do is prepare ourselves: use life jackets, learn to swim, etc. Thank you for sharing your story
@@Thfeyhvfdetyhbvcd 100%! The PFD also keeps your head above water, in the event you are knocked out. All children in a boat should be wearing PDFs at all times.
The worst part of all is every vessel is required to have a the very minimum one throwable floatation device. By my count there should have been at least 4 in the water when the guy first went in. What a shame people aren’t more educated on the safety aspect of boating. This tragedy was 1000% preventable. For anyone reading this comment, if you’re a boater in Florida or anywhere else in the world, for your own safety and the safety of those around you, please keep all of your safety equipment on board and know how and when to use it. So when something like this happens and you’re the only one available to help, you may just be ready to save someone else’s life. Prayers to the family of the deceased.
Every boat Captain who passed by the drowning person without rendering aid should be charged with negligence. To watch the man struggling and then keep going and not even through a seat cushion and go back to drinking your beer, is sickening. This is the world we live in now.
Drowning people dont look like they are drowning. Also the head and shoulders of a person at water level is not so obvious to see from that perspective. 32 year rescue Diver
Maybe the person was negligent himself by being on the water without knowing how to swim. He had no business being there in the first place. It's not like some current pulled him under
@@mhxxd4 The black community were for a long time neglected when it came to having the opportunity to learn, at least in the UK, as a form of passive discrimination.
He was under for about 16 minutes! How tragic! So sorry for his family assuming he didn’t make it. Too bad all those people that saw him go under didn’t act to save his life!!
My new rule as of 2024 is I never allow anyone to stand on my boats when they are under power. All must be seated and anyone that cannot swim must wear a PFD. When I am alone on my boat I wear a auto inflatable PFD. I slipped and fell in the water last year on my boat alone and had I hit my head on the way down i could have easily drowned.
Sometimes you have to be extreme because otherwise these things happen. It's difficult when among friends and family to set these rules, but yes, it has to be done
Everyone should wear a PFD. Even people who can swim can drown. Especially with currents involved or if they fall in and hit something . Seems barely anyone does in the US as I've even seen police on this channel without one...
Thank you for making the point of always wearing a life vest especially when alone. No matter how good a swimmer you may be if you get knocked out it won’t matter.
Heartbreaking video of a fun day gone horribly wrong. I just do not understand how people that cannot swim do not wear life vests the whole time they are on the water. This shows exactly how quickly things can go wrong. Prayers for the family of this woman. The people jumping in to try to save her are heroic. I wish there were more that were quick to react to save someone than to pull their phone out to make a video for clicks on social media.
I know that you're not supposed to jump in to help him because you could be adding to the problem. But in that situation, I'm going in. Throwing a life ring to a desperate person doesn't always work either. You have to get to them fast before they go under. Yes, there's risk involved but that's a life on the line right there. You have to do something
You sound brave ... i am very sorry no one threw anything especially as he was young only 23 😔 ... i wouldnt let a drowning adult get near me as they would likely sink me too. Floatation devices seem essential 🙃
A new lake had opened up in Texas , swimming was allowed. I was with my neighbor and went swimming in this new lake. I heard a woman yelling in spanish saying " my son, my son'' He went under water and didn't come back up. At that time there were no cell phones so I rode my bike to the amusement park and told them to call police. I saw the young boy when they pulled him out, his lips were blue. He did not make it. It was the worst day of my young life. What I noticed about this new lake was if you stood too long on the bottom your feet would get stuck as it was thick clay mud. The lake was closed to swimming permanently. I am 70 now and still remember it like it was today.
A 23 year old man from Mississippi died 😢 wanted to be a cop after his vacation to Miami. They used ur UA-cam vid @BoatZone on channel 6 south Florida news. Gr8 coverage and sorry for the loss to the friends and family.
i am a free diver and spear fisherman, it’s beyond my imagination that someone can sink down such quickly. the neutral bouncy depth is 30ft in salt water, fresh water might little shallower but you will definitely struggle to dive down. he “worked” himself down. it’s important to learn to float, not to swim.
@@Thfeyhvfdetyhbvcdtrue. i have yet to understand what panicking benefits to our body as natural reaction. exaggerate the matter so people will pay attention and offer all resources to help maybe?
I never comment on things but I feel the need to for this. I am no way shape or form an aquatic person. I’ve never been a lifeguard or taught swimming professionally however I taught my brother, all of my cousins and my ex husband to at LEAST float (they can all actually swim and my brother went on to be one of the best swimmers in his Naval division) However- my husband…. Has absolutely no sense on buoyancy. I have never in my life felt someone in water be SO rock solid even when he is relaxed and he just sinks. And I have held a lot of people in my lifetime teaching them to float but it’s not in him and I have no idea why he just will NOT float 🥲
Just around the corner at Haulover Sandbar I was in my dinghy and I noticed someone drowning. He had fallen off a boat and was intoxicated and if I wasn't there he would have drowned. I grabbed ahold of him and took him back to the boat that he fell out of and his friends didn't even notice he was missing. No one thanked me, but I didn't care. I was just glad I had saved a life that day. He probably doesn't even remember it.
Im a sailing instrctor for almost 25 years now, manly working on the local lakes here in austria. There has not been a year without a drowning incident close enough to my location that i and my students where able to witness the rescue efforts. Lots of realy heartbreaking incidents quite often with young fit folks that just slip beneath the surface never to be seen alive again. One time a 16 year old drownd after a party and i later found out that that i saild right across the location where his body was later found, while trying to stay out of the way of the search party. The water was only 15 feet deep there.... on a calm day one would have been able to see his body from the surface. A nother time a young guy, 22 or so, from Britain drownd while taking one last swim with his girlfriend befor heading home from there first travel together. He just went down in silence about 100 feet from shore. I was about 200 yards away with my group when it happened. All of a sudden the whole area wa filled with helicopters and search boats as well as ambulances and patrol cars on shore. Sirens everywhere. It happened so quickly and ins silence that most people only then noticed what had just happened. There car was already packed up with there luggage and the two of them wanted to leave for home half an hour later. The perished guys girlfriend came home alone.... it breaks your hard to even think of it. Once a lady was sucked into the propeller of a reversing ferry boat, head first, while here tottler was playing at the beach. That happened right in front of our station on shore. These are just the ones that haunt me to this day. I have not been in the water swiming for fun in years, although i'm a decent swimmer..... I'm boating a lot, on our lakes and at sea, but beeing in the water for fun does no longer appeal to me. Stay save out there and take care....
And I’m sure people are a lot more careful in Austria than they are in Miami. If there are rules regarding behavior on the water off the Florida coast, nobody seems to obey them much less enforce them.
People who are drowning can't scream - they don't have air. Drownings are silent. It's terrifying to realize how easily someone can slip away unnoticed.
@loosilu I know, but most of the time, they're struggling and thrashing about, which is quite obvious to bystanders. Reaching them in time is more often the problem, then no one noticing. But sometimes people just go down from one moment to a nother, no struggle, no waving, nothing, and that is what I meant. I did not seriously expect anyone to think that someone with his airways full of water, crying for help, is a thing.
So the boat with others he was on just notice he was wasn't there anymore? Or could none of them swim ? I mean id be jumping in as soon as he fell out.... i have so questions..... i noticed the people from the boat the victim was in , standing on their phones towardsthe end of clip....... didn't see any crying nor see any wiping eyes..... they looked more worried than sad.

The person drowning I believe was ran over by the boat with the red water mat rolled up on the back. The video starts after that happens for some reason.

We lost two boaters in my small town in north Florida less than a week apart. One on memorial day and the other Thursday. One was a out of town visitor and the other was a local commercial fisherman. Both were recovered the same day. Florida really needs to crack down on bow riding on boats not designed for it. Not saying this was the case here but it results in a lot of incidents also.

Boggled my mind, too. I be I’ve it was the boat he fell from. They were so far from him, under the bridge, then reversed to get to where he was in the water. That guy is in some big trouble.
I’m surprised this doesn’t happen more often when you watch the videos of the boaters around Miami. People drinking, dancing and walking around on the outer sides of these boats while they are traveling. Crazy! No respect for the water!
I was just thinking the same exact thing! It’s really unfortunate that in most cases, money, ignorance, negligence, and disregard over-rides everything that’s actually important. Too many individuals are more concerned about drinking/partying with their friends than being concerned about the dangers and what could indeed happen. Drinking and driving a vehicle is illegal, it goes the same way when you’re on a watercraft, or should I say “it should go the same way”. It’s just truly sad 😢 that someone had to loose their life, especially when it could have been prevented!! 🙏
Nice to know that the not one boater jumped in to try and save him That guy was in the water for a while. Those boaters were more concerned with having a good time rather than attempt to save a human being. Way to go Florida!!
Not everyone was in a state of suspense. The girls on the front of that one boat were too busy high fiving and laughing like someone just lost their shoe.
I cannot believe that 1 no one threw a lifeline as most just watched. 2 the other boats kept on coming going over where he was and when the attempted rescuers were in there. Surely they know their probs can kill? 3 the emergency response was chaotic pretty much all the way through, snorkelers getting themselves tangled up and swimming behind outboards. Only the scuba divers did the job properly. Wow, just wow.
He did die unfortunately. His name is Trevonte C. Johnson, he was only 23, and was from Coila, Mississippi, very sad. He couldn't swim, the charter boat him and his friends were on, according to the families lawyer, didn't have life vests available.
This actually pisses me off.. I don’t understand why NO one did anything to help the man while they easily still could have. I mean at the very least, someone could’ve thrown a lifejacket, a throwable, hell unrolled the damn floating mats hanging off of literally every boat.. this is insane to me
Those on the big boat waving at whoever pointing at the drowning man could have turned and most likely saved him. The two people on the jet ski, the driver pointing at him were seconds away. People react differently in times of an emergency but this was plainly idiotic.
It’s as if there’s no emergency protocol. Nobody’s doing anything, except a few bystanders that jumped in the water to try and save the person. The rescue divers are walking like they’re having a stroll then slowly takes off their shoes to put fins on. They might as well had lunch first.
@BOATZONE: I am confident you have already provided an unedited version of this tragic event to the proper authorities. HOWEVER, if you haven't you should. I noticed the boat this young lady fell out of was directly between two larger vessels...Soon as she fell overboard it appears people on the boat informed the Captain who immediately turned back ...However, NOTICE HOW MANY PEOPLE WERE ON THE BOAT @ 0:16-0:28 ...instead of immediately maneuvering to retrieve the victim in the water the Captain seemingly hastily forced people off his vessel with the exception of several who remained aboard. It appears you saw this but not wanting to make definitive statements that may cause issues for yourself you did the smart thing and simply pointed out the vessel and the possibility...It doesn't appear you edited or cut much footage during that minute span of time....Nonetheless the people on the boat and the captain were more concerned with CYA than they were with rescuing their friend. Anycase, I'm confident you know what I am referring to and likely have already issued a statement to the authorities. If the boat she seemingly was on would have immediately returned and thrown a flotation device perhaps this tragedy could have been avoided. However, there was nothing they could do with the larger boat being so close behind them passing directly over the top of the victim.... YOU ARE CORRECT IN POINTING OUT ON THE WATER SOMEONE CAN GO FROM SMILNG, LAUGHING AND HAVING A GOOD TIME TO LOSING THEIR LIFE ALL IN LESS THAN 1 MINUTE OR 2 AT THE MOST. I sincerely hope every boat owner and passenger watches this video so tragedies like this do not happen in the future. I am sorry you witnessed what you did but thankful you presented such a valuable life lesson in a professional, respectful and tactful manner. Take Care
1:34 hopefully a boat would t be coming thru with guys already swimming their looking for the guy, I was just hoping the small boat wasn’t driving over the guy since that’s the last place he was seen from the camera man’s position, great idea drive and park a boat right over the spot you seen him.
Having watched a few videos of this stretch of water I’m surprised there’s not more deaths than there is. 99% don’t wear life jackets even in the roughest of conditions, and they generally have kids or a group on the ale holding on for dear life while they’re doing it.
I feel it's hard to blame anyone from the other boats in this situation......given the fact that NO ONE from the boat he was riding in ever took to the water to try and save him. Maybe they didn't notice, whatever. But if I am on a boat and fall overboard and am struggling, I would expect the friends I was with to jump in and try to help first before I start laying blame on anyone else. If this person did not know how to swim, the boat captain should have had them in life jackets. It's not the "cool" thing, but look at the outcome.
I don’t know anything about a water rescue of a drowning person but the fact that after scuba divers arrived on scene, gear in hand, it took another 2 full minutes before anybody got in the water is pretty unsettling…
The Miami Police and Fire Department are to be commended for their efforts. The young man was just underwater too long because of the delayed response by onlookers.

Sad.
@BoatZone It has been reported by NBC6 South Florida that the woman in this accident has passed.
No! It only shows how many stupid people there are on the water without life vests!
The lack of compassion and care for a man drowning is unbelievable! Hard hearts all of the way!
Two boats feet away and not one life ring being thrown in the water. Just watching like it's a tick toc video. It's a shame. The two that jumped in to help are heroes.
unless they are trained to rescue someone, they were useless. and makes the situation worse
Wave runner guy. Although he did try. I would've drove closer first.
He looked like a skilled diver. I'm torn because, if he saw something people in the water didn't, and he was as skilled as he seemed to be then save the life.
He was gone in under 30 seconds and had no idea how to swim Noone could have saved him

And you know that the vis in that water was awful!
I'm sorry,but how are they gifted?...you must've meant brave.
I can't freaking believe some people's first action when they see a man drowning, pull out the cell phone and start recording. RIP dude
I cant believe there are people who dont know how to swim
He will pop up later in tiktok video.
Precisely why I have distanced myself from society and humanity
He was in under 30 sec and never popped back up no way anyone could have helped him.
@Shellee722 Personally, I thought chances to survive were reduced due to time submerged. That being said, in colder water, people have survived.
Deepest Condolences to the Family of the person who lost their life.🙏🏿

The guy in the jetski pointing at the drowning person is the only one that could have saved him.
Thats what i was saying
Agreed, that jet propulsion on the ski woulda made it safe to skirt over and pick up that man’s climbing the ladder to heaven. Unfortunately them ppl operating that ski lacked the knowledge and or training to help the man’s that day, all they knew to do was scream and point when they had their opportunity to be a Hero 😤
Not the only one but definitely the person in the safest and best condition to do so
The white cruiser to the right was in better position than the ski. Look at the time marks they had at least 18-20 seconds to get to him before he went under. You can see them waving at 12 seconds into the video, and likely saw him before that.
If you watch closely someone on that jet ski took off his shirt and jumped in. People did try to help him.
The course and common sense usually help to avoid situations like this
That and having quick access to a throwable. Too many times those things get pushed around and to the back of a hatch.
This video has reminded me how important it is to always know where that thing is.
I can’t believe no one threw one to him, knowing all those boats had one on board.. or should have.. but I’d bet they all had one, no one thought to use it!..???!
Same here. This truly makes you realize just how dangerous it can be out there. Safety always has to be priority no. 1
He sank to the very bottom too.
You don't need to wear a PFD but you should never be on the water if you don't know how to swim. He won't do that again
Agree 100%.
That was an astonishingly fast recovery.
20 minutes under water and 10+ minutes of cpr, doesn't look good for this young man 😒
some of those other women on the boat didn't seem too stressed. Good quick response from EMS.
I noticed that too sick behavior

All those people and not one thought to throw a life ring or life vest. Wow.

The person who jumped off the bridge was risking his life to save another. Shouldn’t be criticized. Thats the definition of risking your life.
For real. I can’t say I wouldn’t have done the same🙁
Everyone is saying that all those ppl watching on the boat should have jumped in but we don’t know how good of swimmers they were, saving a drowning person is hard and dangerous because they are freaking out and they will grab you and pull you under very easily.
He wasn’t helping look he swam the other way. He was just fooling around, making a bigger problem.
Yes , helpless 😢
It boils my blood to see people filming this with their phones. They should be praying for this person right now. Thank God for those brave rescuers.
What, you don't think that people can pray AND do something else at the same time?
Praying has never helped anything. It has only started wars. Ppl shouldve thrown floatation devices in the water and also jumped in. Could’ve been prevented.

UPDATE
Days after a 23-year-old drowned in the Miami River, his friends are still trying to understand the tragedy.
Sometimes it's good to follow your intuition.

my heart goes out to that man and the ones who jumped in to save him. its absolutely gut wrenching to see shit like this and it makes me even more frustrated at how few people even bother wearing PFDs. everyone thinks they're too strong of a swimmer to need one... even after a few drinks... even after waters get rougher... even going fast and battling the surf... they never stop to recheck that assumption

That guy could’ve been saved, but no one bothered to jump in and help the guy. All the boats just went right by him and pointing at him and recording.
Yes, it's sickening.

You mean the women waiving? The person had just fallen into the water, and there was no reason to believe they were going to drown. They were 1st yelling at the offending vessel to tell them someone fell off of their boat, then another boat that was approaching the person in the water as they did not want them to hit them.
I’m pretty sure the drowning victim was black from what I could see when they pulled him from the water. So sad and my heart breaks for his family 😢
Just goes to show people assumed he would be okay, not knowing what to do.
Even the pwc could’ve gotten there sooner but they probably assumed things weren’t as bad as they were.
Once the person goes under they don’t come back up.
Need to catch them before they go under.
What an outstanding job by fire rescue for a quick, orderly, and effective response and recovery!! Truly amazing work
I was an EMT in Florida. He was under too long. After 9 min parts of his brain are dying by the second. If its a child and its cold water they say never say die. I'v known of cases 30 and even 32 min under with no brain damage. reality sucks
Are u serious?! Quick response and recovery by fire and rescue? I saw absolutely zero urgency to get in that water by ever single one of them.
I don't even know the dude and I am shedding tears
This has been the most difficult video to edit since we started recording content in Miami in 2018. That's why we censored many parts of the video, including his face or body reaction. It's even more chilling
while the cunts on the boat to the right are laughing and taking selfies.
@@BoatZone Perhaps if you didn't censor anything the reality of this kind of tragedy would hammer home that safety will save your life.
I can see some true heroes in this video. We still have a hope in this world .
Swimming is highly overrated. Most who drown can swim.
Wearing PFDs is highly underrated. Few who wear one drown.
@@Thfeyhvfdetyhbvcd 100%! The PFD also keeps your head above water, in the event you are knocked out. All children in a boat should be wearing PDFs at all times.
@@Thfeyhvfdetyhbvcd Learning to tread water is an important skill. And doing it in a stressful situation even more so.
Them people on the jetski was not the only people that could have saved him. Thanks to those that didn’t think twice
Every boat Captain who passed by the drowning person without rendering aid should be charged with negligence. To watch the man struggling and then keep going and not even through a seat cushion and go back to drinking your beer, is sickening. This is the world we live in now.
The French and Belgians have a Law requiring it. Non-assistance a personne en danger is a crime.
Drowning people dont look like they are drowning. Also the head and shoulders of a person at water level is not so obvious to see from that perspective. 32 year rescue Diver
I agree, because they are trained. NO EXCUSES!!
Nobody from his boat jumped in.. damn😔 but shoutout to the jet ski dude for trying.
Because none of them can swim….
Also.kudos to the ems giving cpr he was doing his thing
Very wise decision.
Everyone should wear a PFD even if they are a great swimmer 🏊♂️. A perfect storm of events can take down the best swimmers.
22:05 look at all the people with their phones out while someone is basically dead SMH
Get trained, practice, get equipped, practice.
How did he fall in the first place? And where was his lifejacket, could have saved him... 😕🤔
That's how quick life can be lost how sad all those boats and yet no one had the sense of urgency to toss that man a line
i am a free diver and spear fisherman, it’s beyond my imagination that someone can sink down such quickly. the neutral bouncy depth is 30ft in salt water, fresh water might little shallower but you will definitely struggle to dive down. he “worked” himself down.
it’s important to learn to float, not to swim.
If you panic, common sense goes out the window.
So does neutral buoyancy if water fills your lungs.
I’ve never been a lifeguard or taught swimming professionally however I taught my brother, all of my cousins and my ex husband to at LEAST float (they can all actually swim and my brother went on to be one of the best swimmers in his Naval division)
However- my husband…. Has absolutely no sense on buoyancy. I have never in my life felt someone in water be SO rock solid even when he is relaxed and he just sinks. And I have held a lot of people in my lifetime teaching them to float but it’s not in him and I have no idea why he just will NOT float 🥲
@@moskibabyyy he must be really strong without much body fat.
and keep your lungs filled with air...its hard but you gotta relax and breath.....better said than done..sad tale
Omg.
Glad you were there.
@@LilyGazou me too
Respect to the jetski guy, the others recorded and pointed, well done.
I live on the shore of the third deepest U.S. lake. Respect the water for it does not respect you. This was so sad and so very preventable.
I do not know what a rescue mission like this entails but those divers did not seem to be moving with any kind of urgency and after they brought the guy out of the water they began chest compressions but I did not see anyone administering oxygen for the guy.
I was really scared that some boat will run over those guys in the water trying to find him.
At least one boat put up a dive flag @ 6:48.
The person drowning I believe was ran over by the boat with the red water mat rolled up on the back. The video starts after that happens for some reason.
@@Netdinex He wasn't run over little boat he was on was parallel offset to the right of that boat, he was next to it as it passed. Little deceiving at this corner, even Camera is far away but using telephoto. Seen many struggle and go under, never seen one go down so fast.
I can't beleive they saw him flaying and stood there and watched him go down with drinks in their hands.
Broke my heart. I teared up watching this. How sad
Every second count just imagine if someone would have jumped immediately after he fell in everything would have been fine but tit hurts to see people just yell from their boat and just stand there clueless. We just saw someone loose their life
Or maybe there would be two drowning victims.
well. I think the 1st guy to jump in was probably the only guy who was a good swimmer to help...
@@Muskieanglerwell maybe if they had some kind of (PFD) then this all could have been prevented in the first place!! People that go on boats should either know how to swim or should be wearing a life vest!! It’s just truly sad 😢 and unfortunate that someone had to loose their life over ignorance and negligence, no respect whatsoever for the ocean!!
they were busy laughing and taking selfies
Just ONE person throwing anything that floats might have saved him!
Typical Credit Card Captains.
The man jumping from the bridge was obviously an experienced person. I would guess either military or dive team.
Went in at 0:30 and came up at 16:50. Thats an awful long time underwater and totally preventable if you go back and see how many people saw where he went in last. If anything drops in water, or this case a person, point out to that spot and never take that finger off that spot.
This footage is incredible so props to camera guy for doing what he can but sad story for the guy, he didn’t even want to go
Is that a river or a waterway to the ocean?
24:34 - Nope, he past. An those girls wa his so called friends. He wasn't even going to go to Miami.
I’ve watched this and several other channels featuring these inlets. From what I’ve seen over the years, I have a hard time believing that there aren’t far more disasters like this, boat collisions, etc. Condolences to the family and friends of the man who died.
1:27 so incredibly thoughtless and negligent to pilot the boat right over the area where the drowning victim was last seen.
Boggled my mind, too. I be
I’ve it was the boat he fell from. They were so far from him, under the bridge, then reversed to get to where he was in the water.
That guy is in some big trouble.
Look how long it took for the rescuer to get in the water
Especially when they don't even know how to swim. Using common sense seems to be laughed at these days.
I watch the videos all the time! The stupidity is unbelievable! Especially when seeing children on board with no PFD!!
I be thinking the same thing
Nice to know that the not one boater jumped in to try and save him That guy was in the water for a while. Those boaters were more concerned with having a good time rather than attempt to save a human being. Way to go Florida!!
The guy jumped from the bridge, he made his own bed. Stupid games = stupid prizes

Don't post if you don't have time to watch. The jumper was trying to rescue the person while friends and others just watched.
Several people jumped in
The other boat ran over him damn. So so sad.. prayers for his family
Please provide the unedited footage to this young man's attorney. His family is rightfully suing. R.I.P. Trevonte. 23 is far too young
Not everyone was in a state of suspense. The girls on the front of that one boat were too busy high fiving and laughing like someone just lost their shoe.
Shot out and salute to the men and women who got to work every day to save lives of people and animals
RIP Trevon darling who was celebrating his 21st birthday ,thoughts and prayers for his family
The news said he was 23.
3:27
Ahhh life, ain't it great
We got one person dying 100 ft away and >20ft of water under
While these peeps are just high fivin and dappin.

This actually pisses me off.. I don’t understand why NO one did anything to help the man while they easily still could have. I mean at the very least, someone could’ve thrown a lifejacket, a throwable, hell unrolled the damn floating mats hanging off of literally every boat.. this is insane to me
They could had help him 😢
Those on the big boat waving at whoever pointing at the drowning man could have turned and most likely saved him. The two people on the jet ski, the driver pointing at him were seconds away. People react differently in times of an emergency but this was plainly idiotic.
So many people could have saved that man. The guy on the Sea Doo could have rode right up to him the fastest
Take Care
I did
I also noticed too many people on that boat!
1:34 hopefully a boat would t be coming thru with guys already swimming their looking for the guy, I was just hoping the small boat wasn’t driving over the guy since that’s the last place he was seen from the camera man’s position, great idea drive and park a boat right over the spot you seen him.
A rapid and professional emergency response. Thanks, too, to the bystanders, who jumped in and did the best they could.
