Great Review! The first pages alluding Yaira at the police station were pointless like EVS said that could have been for her eventual Solo book or at the very least that scene should have had some importance to Isom himself. Plus him starting off Two weeks in the past and then eariler? Prob the first I have ever seen anybody do that lol. The scenes with Yaira and Alphacore feel like filler, again that could have been used for their solo book and those pages could have fleshed out Avery more, maybe even go into his past and explain why he is the way he is, yeah he might be a jerk, but at least we could understand.

#1 rule of storytelling is to entertain & to do that you’ve gotta make the character’s goal clear. Amateur works like Isom suffer from “and then” syndrome where there is no overall goal or journey, just a series of events happening TO the characters rather than the characters being the ones to take action & have agency

@@rockon8174Honestly, I have no idea why people are so obsessed with counting Eric's money. That first campaign had the advantage that 1. Eric has tons of fans; 2. He had the support of Friday Night Tights; 3. He had the support of ComicsGate; 4. He had publicity on The Blaze: 5. Nobody had read the comic. It was very exciting that somebody was starting a new comics company, and wasn't left wing. I think that successive campaigns have dropped off because some people had read the comics. I gave him three opportunities to wow me. If any of the subsequent books get a good review from someone I trust, I might give Eric another chance. But I am not going to do another pre-order campaign. I don't think I am the only one who thinks this.

None of the story makes sense? It's a 3 part story, the main conflict arises from both Avery and Darren letting their pride cloud their better judgement.
Before I judge the story as a whole, I'll wait for part 3 and then I can see how the whole thing plays out. What people need to remember is that it's not just ISOM's story but also the launching pad of the Rippaverse as a whole, other stories are happening at the same time and some of them happen to share screen time with ISOM story.

It is astounding to me that you mock Isom for using 3D character models for making them look generic, but then also mock the anatomically accurate poses created using those models. Santwan's head doesn't disappear, it is tucked forward behind Isom's shoulder blades, which is where it should be. If it weren't, then he would be slamming his own head and shoulders into the ground first hurting himself while cushioning Isom's head and shoulders from the impact. You can look up photos of a body slam pull-ed correctly in real life and see that Santwan's upper torso is correctly behind Isom's entire body in order to body slam him without hurting himself.
Also, people speaking in slang is not a typo. It is common for people to refer to their dad or a well respected male elder as "pops" and their mother or respected female elder as "moms". It's not proper English, but it isn't a typo considering it is dialogue!! An actual writer would know this!!!

Rubbonon could be pronounced "Rube-oh-non", "rub-oh-non", "rube-on-on", but must be pronounced as "Rub-on-on", because Bocephus declared that to be the only possible way to read that word. The real world element: "Oganesson" is derived from the last name of the man who invented it, Yuri Oganessian. Thus if there was a last name of or a company named Rubbonian or Rubbon in the world of Isom, it would not be as outlandish as you insist for a material he/they invented or discovered to be called Rubbonon. Like always, you take the most uncharitable explanation of events, actions, words in these books and declare them to be the only explanations.

I hope that you hated Robert Downey Jr's Iron Man, because he is a selfish asshole and not heroic in the first movie or in the second Iron man movie. It isn't until The Avengers film that he finally does something that isn't self-serving. Even after that, he is still very narcissistic, arrogant, and an asshole. It isn't until Avengers: Endgame that his hero's journey is complete and he does the most selfless thing he could do, sacrifice himself to dust Thanos and his army.
Not all heroes are Superman, but it seems that the only heroes you will accept are those that always do the right thing for the right reasons. If so, then go back to reading Dr. Suess and other children's books, because you can't handle any story written for anyone older than age 7. Actual adults prefer flawed heroes that are more believable than those without any weaknesses or room to grow.

A hero that always does the right thing for all the right reasons is believable and relatable, but a flawed protagonist begrudgingly doing a favor for family members isn't? A billionaire dedicating his entire life training to fight villains with superpowers is super realistic, but a small business owner pissing off a criminal gang leader isn't even remotely plausible? A tech billionaire creating a brand new power source while trapped in a cave by terrorists is believable and relatable, but two people colliding in the air is too coincidental to be taken seriously? You would never dare to review Cyberfrog books with the same standard of scrutiny, because then you might looks access to his audience. Your willingness to hold The Rippaverse comics to a higher standard than you would apply to any other property is disgusting.
"Judge not, that ye be not judged. For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again. And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother's eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye?" Matthew 7:1-3 (KJV) At least I can take comfort in the fact that you will be judged by the same unfair standard that you use to judge others, and you will not fair well. I urge you to change your ways, but I doubt that you will. Wearing jewelry in the shape of a cross doesn't make you a Christian, actually doing your best to follow Christ's teachings and the example he set with his life is what will make you a Christian.

The same could be said about the FNT crew who keep EJ in a safespace bubble, afraid to say anything even remotely critical about him or the books, but are happy to slam anything Marvel/DC produce. Yes, mainstream comics have gone from bad to worse. But let's not pretend Isom is any good. Bad art, horrible dialogue, uninteresting narrative. It's not up to the standard they claim it to be. And the number of purchases shows that. From #1 to #2 of the campaigns there was a more than 50% drop of customers. And it keeps dropping with each campaign. Right now he has less people spending more money, which might be good in the short term, but not in the long term.

    • @truthedministry
      @truthedministry 3 місяці тому

@@uncleMartinWithTheMountainBike They criticize mainstream comics for having characters that were straight for years come out as gay or bisexual. They criticize them for injecting current day politics. They criticize multi-million dollar TV shows and movies for looking bad because the money being spent isn't showing up in the final product.
When they talk about low budget properties, like the early seasons of Dr. Who, they don't judge the visuals the same as they do for something like the visuals in the multi-million dollar She-Hulk's series. When they talk about independent movies or small budget shows, they are clear to point out that it would be unfair to compare them visually to their big budget mainstream counterparts. The rest of the stuff they would normally criticize isn't in the Isom books, so they are applying the same standard. And despite what you CG people keep claiming, the writing in the Isom books is good, unless they are pulling a "Lost" and setting up for things that never pay off. For things like that, the criticisms don't come in until the show is finished, because before that it has time to make good on paying those things off.
Alphacore #1 had 13k customers while Yaira only has 9.5k customers... but there are still 50+ days to go. There are 8 weeks left in the campaign. If their numbers continue at their current rate, Yaira will end with close to 17.5k total customers. You are judging the current status of a campaign that has been running for a mere 3 weeks against the end total of a campaign that ran for 11 weeks!

You don't have to pretend ISOM is good or give Eric July money to be a Christian.

@@jbbrolic I never said you anyone had to do either!! In order to be a Christian, you simply can't unfairly judge others or use a standard for others that you wouldn't want used against yourself. Anyone with a moderate IQ and a lack of extreme bias would conclude that based on my actual statements.

Isom isn't a heroic, interesting, or likable character, but Rorschach and Dr. Manhattan are... do you even hear yourself? Lol, you actually said Mr. Manhattan... If I was as dishonest as you are, I would cite that as proof that you know nothing about comics. However, the more fair interpretation is that you simply made a mistake, so that is what I am going to attribute this to, an honest mistake.

The pulse of town is maintained between these walls on this night is grammatically correct. Grammarly and Chat GPT both confirm that it is. Like I said, you are a bad writer that doesn't even know how to properly use common words and phrases, so you have no room to criticize anyone else's writing.

DISCLAIMER: I have never read this. I have no clue who the writers or artists are for this comic (beyond the names). I have never read or listened to any other review, positive or negative. I don't get involved in comic book fan wars, so I haven't paid close attention to any of the debates or discussions. I have absolutely read comics, though it was the older ones and mostly DC. X-Men and Spiderman are the only Marvel I've read, and not that many publications of them. I'm mostly a Batman fan. As for TV iterations, I'm a huge fan of B:TAS, S:TAS, Static Shock, JL, JLU, X-Men, Spiderman, FF ... All 80s, 90s, and 00s cartoons. I'm a 70s and 80s kid.
    So ... 🟢Pros 🔴Cons 🟡Neutral or need more info 🔵 Just my 2 cents ⚪I plead the 5th
🔴 I don't know if ISOM is a villain, anti-villain, or a hero I would never care about.
🔴The cover art #2 and #3 are the style I would have read as a kid from a YA comic at a Scholastic book fair.
🟡#1 was really good but it does make me feel this is set in the 1970s. Is it supposed to be modern day?
🔴It's kind of creepy not seeing the eyes in the images you posted. Is it that way throughout?
🔴The mirror image panels are lazy editing. The creator needs a new editor.
🔴That hitting perspective is really weird.
🟡 I'm curious because like I said, so far, I think he's either a villain or an anti-hero (which I despise, by the way -- overdone), so I'm not sure why you have an issue with him killing the guard. I just don't understand because I haven't read it. Is it suggested later that the guard didn't die? Or is ISOM under some kind of "I never kill" motto? Just asking for clarification.
🔴Why would she be drawn in silhouette like the background characters? That is very poorly done.
🟢Okay, to me, the "don't tell mama about this" does make sense, unless it has already been established that he doesn't GAF about his mom. To me, it suggests he's like Superman and Ma Kent.
🟢"Moms" is a dialect situation. I've heard that a lot.
🔴Wait, he STILL hasn't seen about Jasmine after all of this?! Wow. I hope that girl gets found before her 80th birthday.😂
🔵I don't think a hero needs to be a vigilante, but vigilantes do make the best heroes 😈
🔴"Acting fake-concerned" is redundant. Is he pretending that he is fake concerned? Does he mean that he is acting as if he is concerned? Then it would be "Acting concerned."
🔴 (unless he's a villain, then 🟢) The "My sense of pride" thing: So vanity. ISOM is a narcissist and narcissism is the only thing that makes his life worth living. I'm starting to feel like this character is based off of "The Boys."
🔴Guards at clubs and bars these days are VERY hypersensitive to women being harassed. It's concerning to see a male writer create a scene vilifying a guard trying to protect a young woman from a strange man pulling her with him.
🔴The art situation with the guard, stairs... is atrocious.
🔵"Why wouldn't the women just leave?" Dude, we're nosy AF! 😂 If it's modern day, the artist should have drawn everyone with a cellphone recording LOL.
🟡42:02 All right, so this is where I need to really solely rely upon your take on this. If the writer has never, up to this point, given any kind of hint or context or anything as to ISOM's past and why ISOM may be adamant about not being a hero, this is horrible writing. At this point, ISOM comes across as an idiotic villain with no depth and just going around being spoiled throwing temper tantrums willy nilly.
Are you saying the story STILL hasn't let readers know if he was a hero in the past or just always a villain?
If so, I understand what the writer could be trying to do here. He may be trying to shock and awe readers with a big reveal. That kind of plot line only works in movies and novels, where scenes are written out descriptively and the reader has some kind of context to make theories. Giving a yellow because I don't know if this is what is happening.
🟢Dialogue while fighting: If the person is in a blind rage, they wouldn't talk at all. It seems like ISOM is used to throwing tantrums, though, so spouting off while hitting someone seems on par with the character. I can't judge this harshly because I have one of my soldiers in the middle of a bloody battle mocking their dire situation (it's how he gets through bad things) and another soldier accusing him of being a dancing girl on the battlefield. I'm rather fond of that scene LOL.
⚪No comment on the gun stroking ......... but I could write that scene really well 😂
⚪ "Rubbonon" .... Okay, is this going to become a boom-chika-wow-wow comic? I refer you to my previous comment about gun stroking. 😂
🟢Not gonna lie, I'm intrigued about the possibility of other-worldly characters.
🟡"ISOM" makes me think it is an acronym or stands for Isometric.
🟢or 🔴"Somewhere near Florida" This is an easy (sometimes lazy) way for writers to give the reader a general idea without having to commit to a location. The reason could be because the writer doesn't want to be restricted by a specific local's scenery and laws, which could hamper the creative flow. It, also, could be the writer didn't want to put the time into researching the area.
Ending thoughts (as if I'm special enough to have them lol): I'm not a comic book reviewer and I'm not trying to be here. I'm just commenting to you on how I feel about some of these scenes you mentioned. I don't know the writer, although I am well aware of the social media fights going on. I don't know the whole story about any of it, so it's not something I can sincerely comment on. I don't care about it, to be honest.
We all fight too much these days, and I want to support ANY indie-comic book creator because both Marvel and DC are on a mission to let us all down and betray long-time fans. It's like politics. We don't need a 2-party comic industry. It isn't beneficial for any of us to tear down indie-creators (as an indie-author, I know how this feels from holier-than-thou "trad" published authors).
Now, as for ISOM: As someone who has never seen this or read it, I wouldn't read it after seeing these examples. Everyone is entitled to their own opinions, which aren't necessarily mine. It wouldn't be your opinions that keep me from buying this. It's the examples directly from the story.
I believe the creator needs to find a new team. They should never have signed off of these blatant mistakes. People can blame the creator as the final voice, but to be fair, I'm still finding mistakes in novels I wrote years ago that I was 100% confident were practically flawless. This is why we rely on editors and beta readers. His let him down.
Sorry that this is so long but I wanted to give your review proper attention and feedback. I'm, also, procrastinating lol.
