Reminding me of the importance of putting on the Armour of God each and every day to fight the unseen battle, as the Apostle Paul instructed us to do in Ephesians 6: 10-18. It's crucial!
37:00 Just to remind myself: You have plenty of time ahead to live, pay off the loans that you had taken off, and then detach yourself from them. Don't panic, it's just a matter of 6-7 months and you are good to go.❤❤❤
Key Takeaways: 00:00 Intro 03:18 Jay explains how we can create calm instead of looking for it. 05:10 What am I going to learn from a monk? 09:04 Digest this: Plant trees under whose shade you do not plan to sit. 11:36 How to avoid becoming the person you think other people want you to be. 15:01 The two lies we’ve been told growing up. 20:19 The 3 core aspects to incorporate in your morning routine. 28:09 Jay talks about the two opposite sides of ego. 30:27 What it means to find yourself when you lose yourself in service of others. 34:02 How do you take control of something you can’t control? 37:51 The monk life teaches you how to be child-like. 41:18 Do this if you want to start living a better life.
Feel like something triggered in my brain after listening to it. Thanks Jay for the wonderful knowledge you're sharing and please don't stop. There is a generation of people inspired by you and found there purpose. I don't have any other words except saying "THIS IS IT".
Jay! Your audio book changed my life! You broke down so many aspects of life down to such a simple understanding way. I love you for that brother. You gave me so many lessons … god bless you ! Thank you for being you and always keeping it light and practical and straight to the point. You are jay swift! :) 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
This was amazing!! Thank you Ed for asking the most perfect questions and Jay for the most fulfilling answers. My mind, heart and notebook are all so full!! ❤
i just heard your podcast with ranveer allahbadia, & i had some tension related to my career, after hearing ur podcast i just felt the calmness, that u bring jay, ur voice, that can make anybody peaceful, the profoundity in ur explanations, are so so peaceful & calming😇
I look at Self Honesty as observing your human body and mind and actions without judgement, good or bad, but simply as the observing awareness of yourself. Awareness can be placed wherever awareness chooses to expand and valuable in service to others.
Thanks for sharing I have been trying to achieve this stillness for years 70years had bad thing's happened as child and froze difficulty moving forward you have helped me by reading your book
What an amazing, insightful podcast! You had me hooked on this one. We need a part 2 as it shows this is 90 minute video in the description but it was cut short. We need more. It was so awesome to watch. Thank you for this.
I love your podcast, it's enlightening a lot of people, please invite Simon Sinek, my honored speaker, author, advisor, and leader of this age, I like to see his point of view on your setting.
Meaning can be found in anything and everything. Whether you think for yourself or follow others, what you're really after are experiences of being alive. The search for meaning is a blind man in a dark room looking for a black cat that isn't there until Shroedinger opens his box.
Have heard Jay interview others but first time hearing him speak. He is articulate and inspiring and simplifies concepts. A great interview! Learnt a lot from it.
Jay I am following you from quite sometime now, I would like to thankyou for inspiring in many ways...I wish I could get a chance to meet you once in this lifetime. 😀
Books also talk to u. I experienced it several time. i keep book in my room which i read, these are mainly written by the spiritual persons. So it happened to me that i come accross an new idea or a thought or an information on something that i later discovered in the book that i was keeping in my roon n got amazed to find that i was literally having that idea even before reading the book. Since it happened several time i came to a conclusion that either its my mind which was interacting with the objects i was having in my room (thats why they say that you are impacted by your surroundings and company) or these are books itself which were interacting with my subconscious mind.
Monks are separated from the world. It makes sense that they would be calmer. They are insulated from the negativity of the world. This is not what every day people experience.
I agree but some live, work and teach in the real world and still live simply and meditate regularly. I asked a monk how he does it and he said if he stops his consistent practice he gets just as stressed as everyone else.
That's why Jay Shetty wants to show us that if we could just THINK LIKE A MONK, we could empower our own lives!! Reprogram your own lives, this is POWERFUL
Not factually true. They have to also live with laymen and try to help them with their problems. They also go through severe austerity and control their mind and diet that to which we couldn't do. Both lives can be easy or hard.
The concept of a morning ritual is also a very Judeo-Christian one as is self sacrifice and service, demonstrated most beautifully by Jesus. I only wish modern “Christians” understood this more fully and abandoned their cultural and political idolatry.
32:12 - 34:22 I find it fascinating this is the expression of vibrating as your truest highest self, that is, according to the message channeled by Bashar/Daryl Anka. Act on your highest excitement to the best of your ability without any insistence on the outcome!
Can we get Nirmal Purja on the podcast someday that guy is tough and motivational source for young and his wife’s struggles are important and show case good relationship
As a therapist, I invite my clients to stop using the word happiness. It's too vague and sets us up for disappointment. Instead use fulfilled, content, meaningful. It implies self awareness and self advocacy make a good life, even if all we can control is our reactions, instead of just expecting an easy and great life to just happen. The delusion of our expectations contribute to our own suffering.

Monks are separated from the world. It makes sense that they would be calmer. They are insulated from the negativity of the world. This is not what every day people experience.
Monk can be anyone who explores his innermost being and live a life of equanimity

Is he Buddhist monk?
