The 2023 Cadillac Lyriq Is A Futuristic All-Electric Next Gen Luxury SUV

- Like so many other brands, #Cadillac is going all-electric by the year 2030 and the brand-new 2023 #CadillacLyriq is the first vehicle to help lead them towards an electric future. The 2023 #Lyriq is built on a dedicated EV only platform that will underpin a bunch of future models and it also utilizes the #Ultium batteries taken from the GMC Hummer EV. The #ElectricLyriq should do battle with a bunch of upcoming new luxury SUV's and at a base price of just under $60k and fully loaded coming to around $67k, this should undercut most of its rivals by thousands of dollars.

Yup, this is the car that had a few dealers ditching the Cadillac franchise because the company required a lot of changes to be made to existing dealers if they are to sell these and after spending some time behind the wheel, this could be the game-changing luxury SUV that Cadillac needs that just happens to be electric. We're excited to try out the more powerful AWD version later this year.
Does it have smooth ride suspension?
@redline Reviews you can drag the drive mode selector to the Blue Home bar on the bottom for quicker access
You're correct, Redline Reviews. Many dealers ended their Cadillac divisions because of this car. They were so rearward thinking. Now GM may make it hard for them to be a dealer again. Cadillac is finally learning to leverage the success of the Escalade, but also deliver world-class performance rocket like the CT5-Blackwing, and now this Lyriq, which is a very solid first effort.(the ELR was a PHEV(basically a Volt missing two doors in a tux), for those not in the know). I think Mary Barra identified that this car couldn't have came at a better time for Caddy.
This car is bringing new buyers to the brand, would think dealers would welcome that.
This is a driver centric car. The passenger seat in the back and front clearly sells all the action there. As such a V makes a ton of sense. But lack of front or rear passenger toys just a cup holder seems like a choice made to push the executive and passenger focused crowd to the Celestiq and Escalade. Nothing wrong with that, just a very visible choice.
If you don't know that the doors have a solid sounding thunk, the glove box is damped and lined with felt and that he's 5'7 then you're not a true follower LOL
💯😂😂😂🙏🏾
You are correct
Lmao
Don’t forget about the injected molded plastic
Without question.
You know you’re the best reviewing cars right ? I’ve worked over 20 years in the car business selling etc, I was good doing demonstration but your skills are just flawless. I always look for your reviews. Thanks
This looks so much better in this video than it does in the studio photos
Glad I held off getting an E class. I'm definitely getting this by the end of next year.
I am so glad to hear how well received this suv is. I’m especially happy hear how Cadillac has stepped up their interior game.
Precisely! Aside from a handful of nicer interior materials, you could still very much see it's a Chevy underneath. Starting from scratch on a vehicle with the outset of stating they won't use any parts bin items is what they've needed to do for a while now. This is great to see, and hopefully is the case on everything they make from here on out. They now, of course, have a new parts bin to pull from.
I love Cadillac look and feel!
Well done to the USA , looks great and well built in the US .....I would buy one if for sale in the UK ......
Yeah I much prefer Lincoln and Cadillac in interior design than Mercedes and BMW, also I trust the brands more lol.
Agreed, but the steering wheel looks wack though.
This is why I like watching redline reviews because sofyan is going to give you the real deal especially if you are shopping for a particular vehicle and you really want to know everything about that car or truck

@@theredline Seriously great job with the reviews. They are always well-organized and packed with useful details, perfect for someone who's in the market for one of these vehicles.
Amazing Job, Cadillac. Futuristic styling, beautiful interior with high-quality materials, and innovation. This is great for Cadillac, a brand that’s been struggling for decades. The LYRIQ is the beginning of a new era for Cadillac.
Cadillac hasn’t been struggling for decades bro 😂
@@davidperea1659 Performance, no. Luxury, yes.
@@davidperea1659 it sure has they have lost a ton of market share to German brands

I have never really considered a Cadillac, but if I had a bunch of money for a car, this one is actually very nice. Exterior looks quite nice. The interior is the show piece, though. Love the color of it all and the large screen.

The design is beautiful. It looks much better to me than even the BMW IX or model Y
I never thought we’d see the day where GM gave Cadillac its own unique switchgear and materials. Excellent.
You havent, the new all electric Blazer SS is the sister mate to this car… they just decided to release the Lyriq 1st
Yeah it's like they are going back to pre '70s oil crisis where the bean counters only had a marginal say in Cadillac design instead of essentially running the show. That charge door needs some work though, looks like it will fly off with a good gust of wind when charging. This and the Celestiq look like Cadillac will return to full luxury and maybe Buick can fill the premium slot it once did.
GM has been on an absolute roll with this, the new C8, and the hummer EV.
L-gm has a long way to go. Those are all Halo products which are good but they are a volume company which really isn't good outside of BOF trucks.
General Motors Is Circling The Drain, NO QUESTION!!!!!
GM will lose a fortune making these and the hummer EV they are so far behind technology wise. They need to add a ridiculous amounts of batteries to get decent range which will limit the production. My Model three has a 60 KWh battery for 325 miles of range at 133 EV mpg which is best efficiency in its class. Rivian is only 88 ev mpg which is horrible. I can’t find these specs for the Cadillac. Hopefully it’s efficient.
How about Ford with the Maverick, Bronco, Mach-e, and Lightning? All winners!
@@Anthony__420 tony you don’t seem to know shit but I believe deep down you knew that already. You’re comparing the battery in your slow as shit rear wheel drive sedan woth an awful interior to this actual luxury crossover.
Wow, I instantly had to pause the video 3 seconds in. What a shot! Such an amazing view. And this is the most interesting Caddy in years! Looking forward to test driving one.
This is the first EV that I'd like to actually buy. Love the design and VFM compared to the competition. Please bring this to the UK....
I agree. First time I thought "yeah I'd drive that".
@@cryptojunkies3619 I've been driving EVs for almost a decade now, and it's really exciting to see all of the cool stuff hitting the market.
This looks clean and modern. Great offering by GM! Hope they're able to pump these out at a good rate
Knowing that these will sell like hotcakes the dealers will probably mark up the prices
America has been killing it with electric cars. Not only Tesla but Lucid, Rivian, F150 Lightning, Hummer EV, this Lyriq, Mach E…
don't forget the electric Silverado
Problem is, none of them are profitable to make at scale with subsidies and government handouts. Electric cars will be taken over by the Chinese just like electronics.
The Koreans are killing it lately with their evs
One word. Cybertrack 💥
Teslas are junk. They’re cheap feeling from the inside and outside. Their quality needs to get better
That interior is so so so much better than the dark plastic that has been in the Cadillacs I have seen. The whole car looks good.
This EV is extremely cool. Cadillac is such an underrated brand, they’re always putting out straight bangers

This seems very reasonably priced that interior is stunning.
Precisely so compared to Polestar's ridiculous prices.
Such a monster of an EV. Nicely done, Cadillac.
Thank you guys very much for the review, I want to remind you of one thing, that dealers who are supplied with cars will additionally charge money for the sale of this car now, for example, Cadillac Escalade. which are sold at dealers for $ 15,000 more than the manufacturer recommends selling. Dealers do what they want. Until GM puts things in order with dealers, Tesla will be charged more and the price there is more transparent and no one is shaking their nerves and making an important appearance as managers of GM dealerships. Therefore, I think feel free to add another $ 10,000 to the price recommended by the factory, which the dealer will put in his pocket and will make an important appearance pulling money out of your family. By the way, when I ordered LYRIQ on the official website, it was said in the contract that the final price depends on the dealer's interest.
One of the most impressive designs from any GM brand. Very nice.
This is amazing. Im not usually a cadillac person but seriously well thought out and looks awesome inside and out. Extremely shocked to hear its only 60-70k
Only?! 🤷🏻♂️ That’s expensive and the Tesla Model Y and Mach-E are way overpriced at $60K+; should be in the $40-$50K range.
@@TecnamTwin The average Gasoline car as of May 2022 is $45,000 and EV is $ 54,000. The Inflation is the troublemaker plus the chips shortage

$60k for a Cadillac is an absolute steal. It’s a CADILLAC. There are entire songs about the brand.
@@joseph9679 By knowing all the cost of raw materials, this Cadi has 100 KWH of battery, $ 60,000 is just impossible. I hope I am Wrong, Will see
I'm a big GM guy, always have been, but they need to start putting features in the back, at $60k this should have standard heated seats in the back, optional ventilated, hell the Escalade at $130K doesn't even have ventilated seats in the rear, just a observation
Love that it's no gears... that was a huge turnoff on the Taycan. I just placed a pre-order based on this video for the 2024 AWD model. There are only 2 things that will ruin this for me: if the range for the AWD version is less than 300 miles per EPA and if I have to deal with a crappy dealer or ADM fees. I own Tesla as well as ICE cars... dealers are a huge negative. I wish I could buy all of my cars direct.
I absolutely love this Cadillac, and most likely will be the next electric vehicle, my wife and I will purchase. This vehicle rings all the bells!!!
I’m buying one soon
I work at the factory that makes the Lyriq. Glad to see the reviews coming in and they’re all mostly positive. What surprises me the most is the only gripe I hear consistently is the ride mode not having a hard touch button. Other than that it’s mostly good. But I guarantee they’re listening to all of these concerns.
Yeah drive mode with an analog button definitely makes more sense. Awesome work it's beautiful
Lyriq is amazing. I love open center console up front. That extra knee room is much needed. I hope you guys get paid well making them. I pre-ordered mine.
@@00_UU Union made!
What about the glove box only being accessible through the touchscreen? I think that was a stupid design choice and over-engineered. I love everything else though.
@@DarkTranqz 2 things. You’re upset about 2 things. A ride mode switch and a handle. Weird design choice, sure, I agree. But if that’s an absolute dealbreaker…wow ok.
One of the best reviews I've seen out there, trust me I've seen alot. Very informative and super clean, straight to the point. Keep it up!!!
Cadillac knocks it out of the box with this one. I'm very impressed this is one I would actually buy.
Really great review!! Thank you for the very in-depth look at this car. I have recently been looking at getting into the EV game and this review has seriously moved the needle to Cadillac. For the price....WOW!!!!
Sadly still out of my price range, but it gets me excited for the Blazer EV and the price it'll be in 😊
Blazer starting price around $45k to high end $66k.
@@kyvo6268 I have a reservation for the LT2 😁
Placed a pre-order for a 2024. Praying dealer doesn’t add a bunch of markup, will cancel if they do. The price point is what makes it so appealing.
Wow i am blown away with this car. I wasn't really looking fit an EV but this car has made me change my mind. I want it!!
I really thought it’d be starting in the 70-80k range. With a version of this spec to be higher. 60k???? I’m considering this to be my next car after my prime. It’s stunning.
I guarantee you that you will pay a lot more than $60,000 for this vehicle, especially if Cadillac dealerships have limited inventory.
Wow, seeing the commercials I thought it seemed a little strange and figured it was another blow for Cadillac... But no no no it's actually very cool! I'm very impressed. The interior is amazing. This is the first Cadillac I would buy. I love it! 💕
Great review Sofyan! I love how you’re so knowledgeable about the vehicles and so your reviews in long one-take segments. Can’t wait to see how Cadillac installs those missing chips “in an over the air update”, 😂
I see I'm not the only one who noticed that.
I’m on the list for an AWD model, even more excited after these first driving reviews are coming out!
Same here. Pre-ordered & put down over 2100; but worried because I have not seen my order workbench in the system yet. GM also states they reserve the right to change the MSRP at any time with or without notice. This and the dealers playing games really upsets me.
@@tom98vr4 I just did the $100, no other deposit. I too have concerns about how the process will go when it actually gets in to production and it’s time to interface with a dealer.
@@davidbuell8711 I did the same for RWD model. Just the $100 deposit but it looks like it's going to be the 2024 model that we're able to get our hands on.

I waited for this and absolutely enjoyed your review Soyfan! Again folks, this is the equivalent to a base model Lyriq with a few options (wheels & paint color). I think they have done a great job in every aspect of the vehicle. Also thanks for explaining the frunk situation. I have never had a frunk so I can’t say I’d ever actually miss not having one, but if I’m switching from a ICE powered car to a EV I think my first priority would be the *charging speed* so I feel Cadillac definitely made the correct decision there. They cleaned that frunk area up nicely, fitting of a luxury vehicle. I always thought the frunks of the Ioniq 5 and Kia ev6 look a mess especially for their prices.
I totally agree that charging speed takes priority over frunk space. Especially, if you’re on a road trip. Tetris packing and minimizing extra stuff to lug is something you can adjust, but charging speed is not something we can customize. I already think taking 30 minutes to charge on a road trip is PLENTY long.
Gorgeous. Well done, keep proliferating the EV movement!
FYI, ICEs will still be relevant 50 years from now!!!!!
I feel like these are the CFLs of the car world. Hybrid makes so much more sense for almost every application except for "I live in a big city, rarely leave, and have safe locations to charge my vehicle."
The fact that I’m actually interested in a Cadillac is shocking. 😮
Calling 60K a steal says a lot about how outrageous car prices are these days....
Beautiful Cadillac. I'd actually order one if I could.
I wanna see the ad where they use Rival Sons 'Electric Man' to promote this- they even reference Cadillac in the song.
Very handsome car. Great design. Compared to the new BMW monstrosities, Cadillac has nailed it
Driving a new PHEV Rav4 prime xse premium and would have cross shopped a Caddy, but I need 400-500 range for my trips from LA to Oregon. Yesterday I used ,for the first time, charging away from home ,Ev Go had 2 out of three charges broken … infrastructure needs to improve.
Thank you for the complete review of this car! With your positive reviews, I’m super excited for mine to arrive. I ordered the AWD and was told it’ll be delivered in the spring. Can’t wait!
I’ve never considered a Cadillac but this SUV blew me away. I love the interior and the materials they used. A little disappointed that it doesn’t have a frunk but faster charging is always welcome considering the time it takes now
He clearly showed the "frunk in the trunk." I don't why people are ignoring it.
Why it's not needed. Plenty of rear cargo
Frunks are overrated
I don’t understand automakers’ insistence on reinventing door handles. There’s absolutely no reason to make opening the doors a two-step process that involves multiple electronic components, including motors. Also, putting the glove box release in the screen is completely ludicrous.
Totally agree. Not only is there the 2 step process, but the rear door doesn't seem ergonomic at all. You'd have to stand behind the door. Why would you open the door into your body to walk around it? Not to mention the cringe feeling of putting your fingers between the door and frame every single time.
There’s no reason, are you sure? So how else would the Lyriq have flush door handles for the best aerodynamics that don’t retract into the body of the vehicle like Tesla? They clearly wanted to opt out of moving parts for the door release. Opening doors has literally always been a 2-step (or more) process. Which world are _you_ from?
Also, every single luxury vehicle with a soft close door function involves an expensive motor regardless of how you open the doors. Your comment is the equivalent to complaining about “unnecessary motors” for soft close doors. Asinine. 🙄
Great looking vehicle inside and out. Great review!!!
I really came at the right time 💀😭
It’s very attractive! I like the size, low but substantial stance. Mind you, I have zero idea what car to get next. Pulling out my hair
Looking forward to collaborating with Cadillac on the upcoming MDX electric option in the upcoming years for Acura as well. Can’t wait to sell them too !
I just bought a 2024 Lyriq Lux 2 Feb 2024 with super cruise I am absolutely loving it. Great looking car it is. ❤
this guy does the best car review videos. love it!
This car is beautiful. Love your reviews. Keep it up.
wow I've never been this early
I have a registration number for the AWD version and have been really wanting to see someone drive the car. I watched another video from a different source interview the lead GM Lyriq engineer. When the interviewer heard that they used 5-link with Passive-Plus Premium Dampers, he said that is very premium. The engineer's response was, "it is a Cadillac." That pretty much summarizes the design philosophy of this EV. I'm glad to hear in fact the suspension does give a smooth, quiet ride. I'm going with the standard (smaller) diameter wheels because the large wheels have low profile tires and they don't do well in pothole heaven here in the Indy area. FYI, GM China said that 0-100 kph (62 mph) is 4.35 seconds and the range converted from the Chinese test method was 287 miles. That number compares with cars like the Mach-e that suffer a 20-30 mile range loss going to AWD. Here's hoping the dealer does not turn around and charge more (gouge) than the MSRP, which is the only reason I would not purchase this vehicle.
I absolutely love this EV, I ordered the AWD version of it already.
These electric cars and trucks are a environmental disaster in the making ! They endanger people and property at a very high level .
Something I would actually consider over another Tesla. I am in love with the design. I don’t mind the range. My grandma and aunt used to drive Caddies and I learned to drive in a 99 Seville & 97 Deville lol.. Can’t wait to see what else the brand does with electric cars 😍

I like the style of this Cadillac and it's electric, I would prefer the rwd model because you get a longer range compared to the awd version. Power is good enough for me.
A ver nice electric vehicle,
Besides the rear being a little funny looking I think we will be seeing a lot of these on the road. Seems like the best value for a luxury EV.
Don't forget to add on franchised dealer markups to every brand, except for Tesla, Rivian and Lucid!
I love my CTS, looks like Cadillac will be keeping me in their stable for a long time!
My only concern is the charging stations and the cost to replace the battery. Also how reliable this car will be in long term.
You'll never have to replace the battery, and if you can charge at home, it's far cheaper per mile than gasoline. Oh, and operating costs far lower than for a gasoline-powered car. Same for every EV.
@@JonathanEzor NEVER?
@@rmblocker it’s like buying a brand new ICE vehicle and asking the salesman about when your engine replacement will be due. That’s how dumb y’all sound talking about full battery replacements on brand new EVs. 🤡
@@mybro727 It's not dumb. In an ICE car you can replace the engine, transmission and drive train and it will not be as expensive as one of these batteries right now. At least you can patch together your ICE vehicle and keep it going for about 15 to 20k less than the purchase of an EV. It is a consideration. That is why SMART people do cost/benefit analysis on big purchases.

Gotta say " ALL EV's DO NOT need have FAST 0-60's times " Good Grief. Lets be real. I think 7 secs or less is pretty good & highly acceptable. People are setting there minds to all them are super fast, we need to be realistic and not have that expectation.
When you're paying 80 grand for a electric vehicle you expect it to be fast now the hyundai or Kia ev 6 they can be slower because they cost half proce
There is a market for both slow and fast EV's. You choose what you like best and what you can afford.

As a 2018 Cadillac CTS owner I love this car. Everything is great except the weird tail lamps around the back windows. Those can go away. Otherwise a well executed design. Kudos to Cadillac for NOT making it look strange like most of the other EV's on the market. They managed to maintain the traditional Cadillac DNA while also making it electric. Wish more manufacturers would do the same.
beautiful car, Cadillac is heading in the right direction. I still believe there should always be a frunks for 2 small suitcases. rear seats should always recline and I also believe in ceiling air vents. I live in a hot state and floor vents are so outdated. Good for Cadillac. I think what I like about it is hearing the ride quality is great, the overall build seems on a good level and it seems like a solid value (if the dealers don't jack the prices up). You know it'll be quiet. What I don't like, it's another crossover and I'm really sick of the crossover format. EVs should be lower and sleeker, not tall because that's fashionable. But that's not Cadillac's fault and until the public changes what's fashionable, we'll see more and more of variations of crossovers.

Can’t wait. I’ve got my order in on the AWD version
I only watched about half of this review. You were doing an excellent job with the styling details. My first thought is Cadillac may be TOO aggressive with a 2030 deadline to be fully electric. IMO the infrastructure will not be 100% in place. Also, even though the new exterior door handles look very nice, they have added an extra step just to open the door. Not a smart move, no matter how nice it looks. So, time will tell how reliable this car will be mechanically. I personally gave up on GM, including Cadillac years ago. Good luck to Cadillac, I hope this will be a success story. I'm just not personally sold.
L
I don’t see the big deal with the door handles. They aren’t confusing or hard for anyone that should be opening a door to operate. Cadillac went the more elegant route with an automated door that opens itself at the push of a button. It’s a Cadillac, a *luxury* SUV after all. Too much technology and luxury for you, maybe you should check out a review of the Chevrolet Blazer EV. People like you that say you’ve “given up” on GM years ago and then in the same breathe you’re criticizing the very aspects where they’ve gone the extra mile - it’s asinine. You’re a walking contradiction.
Really wish they had a sedan version that gave this a run for its money.
Actually looks awesome. Love the Faux grill
I feel sorry for electric car drivers and future owners. They will simply have to learn the hard way .. as I did. These things are a huge hassle, all those lost hours sitting in those charging stations, huge anxiety, plus a outrageous expense in the long run. Good luck trying to sell a used Electric car with wore out battery modules. You'll find out nobody wants to pay the ridiculous price of batteries ... Batteries are very ... very expensive to replace ( thousands and thousands of dollars) ... and make no mistake, you will be replacing them. These batteries are highly toxic to our environment, with a high potential for disaster to our surroundings. DON'T FOOL YOURSELF and CERTAINLY, DON'T LISTEN TO A SALESMAN , ... LITHIUM BATTERIES ARE NOT GREEN CLEAN ENERGY BY ANY MEANS! ...
