Happy Saturday evening everyone! We apologize that this video had a few audio issues toward the end. Our time with the car was rather limited and we could not reshoot sadly. Hope you all understand and have a great weekend!
Cars really did become much heavier over the decades due to safety equipment. This car is a large compact and weighs 3900 lbs. I had a 1976 Cutlass that was a midsize car before the first downsizing of domestic cars occurred and it weighed 3800 lbs.
Good job General Motors! This Cadillac with a manual is something to own! I have a ats v and love it still to this day on how quick it is and how it handles. Every time I drive I still get compliments on the look of my car and color. Blue is the way to go when you get this car because it stands out!
Who would have thought that one day Cadillac (and not Honda, Toyota or Germans) would be the only one to keep manuals alive in sedans (powerful ones at that).
Honda is offering manuals in the new Civic Si as well as the new Acura Integra A-spec. Porsche offers a manual on several of their models. GM ain't the only horse at the rodeo.

What BMW ONLY has $5k worth of options?! No way are you going to option an M3 similar to this CT4 for less than 80k. This CT4 is at least $10k less if you are even remotely comparing apples to apples.
And no bmw is going to do especially M3 is not going to do 189 mph--thtas very very fast.I bet in cold weather it could do 190 plus--I owned a 3.3TT stinger and was able to top speed it in cooler weather and it was bouncing off the 167 mph speed in 7th and would sit at 165 in 8th--so 189 is very very fast.

Great job on your reviews. Question...I'm trying to decide between a 4v blackwing manual and an Alfa Stelvio (or perhaps Guilia) Quadrifoglio. Which would you say is more fun, more exciting, to drive overall? I need a more practical car to complement my 718 Spyder manual, but want it to be exciting to drive as well. The manual on the Blackwing adds to the attraction for it, but I drove a Stelvio Quad, and was very impressed by how much fun it was. I haven't been able to take any long test drives in either, so I would very much appreciate your perspective. There is also the fact that I have a Cadillac dealer nearby, whereas the Alfa dealer is 1.5 hours from me. I'm willing to put up with that and the likely worse reliability of the Alfa if the excitement and fun factor really makes it worth it vs. the Blackwing, but I'm trying to balance all of this out in making my decision. Thanks for any input you can provide!
I ended up going with the 4v BW manual and love it. Fantastic car! I also drove the 5v BW, and as much as I loved it, I preferred the handling and size of the 4. I think this was definitely the better choice vs the Alfa, as the cost was appreciably less, I have the manual, and the handling is at least as good. Thanks.
I rented a CT4-V earlier this year on a business trip to San Francisco & San Jose. Love this car - I put 350 miles on it in 5 days. Powerful and crazy fast for being so heavy. However, At $6.25 per gallon in San Jose, it can be a painful experience to fill it up (if my company wasn't paying for it, I would not have rented it), but I'm sure that people buying this car can likely afford $12 per gal gas - if it every gets that high.
I would not purchase ANY high performance gasoline powered vehicles if gas prices reached $8.00 USD per gallon let alone $12.00 USD. Yes, $60,000 USD is a big price tag for an electric vehicle, but I think we're going to see more $40,000 all electric vehicles in the next few years. A $40k vehicle coupled with a nice federal tax credit would effectively reduce the price of said vehicle to $32k USD. That's less than the average price of new gasoline powered vehicle. At that point, it becomes a no-brainer decision.
too bad most Americans would never give this car the time of day because everyone is used to american made cars as being cheap and unreliable compared to asian or European cars for the same price. i think only Tesla is held in higher regard for the rest if ghe world and thats kinda sad cuz tesla QA was hit or miss early on but ppl put up with it cuz they were the only real players for the longest time.
American enthusiast know what these cars are and aren't concerned because of the badge. Rest of the motoring public might not but that's OK because those same people know and respect a BMW badge but have no real clue about a BMW M either. GM just needs to push forward with quality and luxury for their EVs like the early reviews of the Lyriq and Hummer EV. If they can really focus and churn out really on point products more consistently they will eventually be seen in a better light globally.
It isn't the 80s and 90s anymore. American cars have gotten better by leaps and bounds in the last 10-15 years. But especially in the last generation of vehicles.

just want to chime in since I was a Chevy SS and a Corvette ZO6 owner. I had a 2016 Chevy SS for 5 years, 6 speed manual which I really enjoyed but over time found the "sleeper" styling too sedate and boring. So, I moved into a 2019 Corvette ZO6 with the 7 speed manual, white, red adrenaline competition seats, 2LZ trim level, beautiful to look at, but, uncomfortable, noisy as heck, things you don't realize till you live with it. My girlfriend complained about being bounced around in tour mode, we couldn't have a conversation without yelling and you'd have to crank up the volume to hear the music. The tire and road noise despite a sound insulation kit I installed was overbearing, so I traded the Corvette in yesterday 10/31/22 after 19 months for an Electric blue 2023 Cadillac CT4-V Blackwing, 6 speed manual, fully tricked out. The ride home last night was a pleasure. Whenever, I drove the Corvette, the thought that I can't use all this power lingered in my mind. I thought about the CT5, but essentially, it was the same issue, all that unusable power in a slightly larger, more civilized, but much more expensive vehicle. However, I finally found the sweet spot, The CT4 is in reality more HP then you can use, but you can take it to the track where it's hp is more accessible like the SS, (which in retrospect I regretted getting rid of.) Having had the "big motor" experience, I'm okay with the V6 and the exhaust sound, it's just a way more practical yet sporting vehicle. It checks off so many boxes, given my experience, it's more comfortable, quieter, feels supremely planted and confidence inspiring, beautiful to look at and luxurious. It's a win win all the way around, we're both happier, now that I have the option of tracking it and still having a great DD. What a journey.
@@rafaelescobar6831 Thanks for sharing! You mentioned you regret getting rid of the SS. Can you compare the SS and CT4-V BW here for ownership? Reliability? How does the gearing compare? I want to wring out those gears on a daily basis, and also, maybe take it to track once or twice. It is hard to swing 70k for a car, but at the same time, am willing to get something to keep and enjoy for years until the wheels fall off.
Would love to trade in my Scat pack for this, but at 80k+ with dealerships markup, I’ll stick with my 485 horsepower ,4 door v8 that cost half as much for now 😆
I'm biased having just picked my Blackwings up last week, but from a driving dynamics perspective this car is superior to the Germans imo. The Tremec gearbox is phenomenal, especially when compared to the mushy, rubbery feel of the manual gearboxes in the BMW. The chassis is more communicative, the steering feel is better, and the car balances practicality and raucous fun just about perfectly. I also considered the M2/M3 and RS3, and I think they're all excellent cars in their own right, but the Cadillac edged them out in areas I find most important.
Such a shame they didn't put in a version of the LT1/LT2. Great car by all accounts and a perfectly good V6TT... But a small block would have been special.
Numbers are pretty much identical to the ATS V 6mt to 6mt and auto to auto. It only gained like 8hp but thats on paper, they dyno the same. It gained like 80hp, so straightline is a wash. Its the handling and interior that show real improvements.
Wish they would have given this the NA 6.2L V8 for a proper send off. Would have made this an instant classic. Interior is garbage Chevy but that's Cadillac for you. Missed opportunity by Cadillac by not offering a V8 on this which would have instantly made it best in class. The V6 Turbo engine is serviceable and the handling is class leading if not the best. I feel so mixed on this car as its really just missing an engine as its one of the best driving sedans I've driven. I prefer the size to the large CT5 V BW
You are comparing an automatic AWD(or RWD) car to a manual trans RWD car. Magazines with professional drivers have gotten 4.1 or so out of the manual. The auto dips into the high 3's.
Idk cool car but I used to have an ATS V coupe and the inside was nicer, no fake stitching or injection molded plastic on the doors or dash all leather and Alcantara. Plus the coupe looks way more aggressive. I just feel that this generation was change for the sake of change :\
The issue with cars like this (as nice as they are) is that you might as well buy a dedicated performance car like a Nissan Z400. Or go with something more practical like a performance crossover (genesis gv70). This car (along with the m3) are compromised IMO.
If all you need is a daily driver capable of carrying an adult passenger and a couple of kids then this a perfect option. It's the reason I sold my Supra and picked up a Blackwing recently. The Z and GV70 are both compromised in different ways: the Z being limited to two seats, and the GV70 offering severely limited performance. The M3 and Blackwing offer nearly all of the performance of a dedicated sports car in a livable package, even if you have a couple of kids. I even managed to squeeze 3 car seats in the back seat of the Blackwing without issue.
I disagree after having driven a ct4 v BW for a few hundred miles it is more planted and much more of an overall sports car than many 2 door labeled "sports cars". I think its more communicative and better handling than a gt350, M2 comp and an SS 1LE, all of which I have driven, while also feeling just as small if not smaller than those cars. This along with the fact that it has 4 doors and is practical makes it elite and in its own class of car. Modern M3's are far more numb and have little to no feel.
For what dealers are asking for these I'm confused why you would waste the money.....no matter it's power its definitely not as fast as an M3 or RS5 and it definitely doesn't have the interior quality of either. For the money a used CTSV makes way more sense or even a used ATSV for alot less it's the same car. I've seen these CT4VB for almost 100k idiotic for that crappy interior quality and slower than an M340i performance....Hard pass
The interior is literally nicer than an m340i you clown have you been in both? The 3.6tt holds a ton of power and people have the atsv cars in the 9s stock turbo. Dealer markups also aren’t fair to compare when talking prices
@@cato12 The S4 and M340i would both get absolutely wrecked by this car around a track. This car is every bit as fast as the rwd M3 Competition. Look up VIR lap times of thr cars you mentioned and see for yourself... you're selling the Caddy short.
Eh, gotta get the stick while you can, I don't think this is a vehicle for frequent drag strip visits and rowing your own gears is so much more satisfying, while we still have the option to do that.
All the standards options should have included in the msrp price. common options added up to be $10k+!!! This is the reason why Cadi has failed in selling their vehicle. Very stupid. Overpriced.
Some good efforts by Cadillac the last decade or so, but Caddy just doesnt have the cachet of the imports. And as its buying demo ages out and a younger demo looks elsewhere, I cant see the brand lasting much longer.
These cars are extremely ugly though Which is sad, because the 2011 era CTSV was so pretty in sedan, coupe and wagon form Sometimes you dont need to change your design language...Range Rover, Wrangler and G-Wagon know this.
I'm not a M-3 or BMW fan boy, but I bet even a stock M340i could easily keep up with or surpass the tested road numbers of this vehicle. I think the M3 would run away from this vehicle all day, every day.
The AWD M3 variant is faster 0-60 but the Blackwing is faster on a track. If all you're ever going to do is stop-light rallies, stick to a Tesla or a Mopar with some mods.
@@rdollie1 Better chassis dynamics, better off the line, faster on the track and on road, definitely looks a lot better. The present M3 is just not good enough.
Too bad GM quality is absolutely horrible. I'd never waste a dime on this. (Not a fan of German cars either) why can't other manufacturer's learn from the Japanese?
It’s come to the point where I have to believe a lack of reliability is part of their business plan. How being built like trash is seen as an advantage is beyond me, but here we are. Another lease only vehicle.
@DOGS LOL exactly! Some people are so delusional. They will literally say anything and make up crap out of thin air. Meanwhile BMW, Genesis, Mercedes-Benz, and Volvo products (just to name a few) are in and out of the shop with quality control issues especially when approaching 100,000 miles thanks to cheaply built and over engineered mechanical parts.
Having had both modern BMWs and modern Caddys, since the m3 is the only competition with a manual, the Caddy is much more trusted to own out of warranty.

Sexy but I still love the ats v model
Why is this slower than the ATS V that I'm assuming was its replacement? The ATS V was @ 0 to 60 in 4 sec or less
Numbers are pretty much identical to the ATS V 6mt to 6mt and auto to auto. It only gained like 8hp but thats on paper, they dyno the same. It gained like 80hp, so straightline is a wash. Its the handling and interior that show real improvements.
Love your reviews but please look up the definition of "simplistic". Thank you.
This should’ve been a v8. Might as well get a regular ats and turbo charge it. I wanna get an ats v coupe and lt4 swap it
Get the ct5 black wing then good cars don’t have to be v8s
hello, how tall are you?
It’s got that bangle butt
Wish they would have given this the NA 6.2L V8 for a proper send off. Would have made this an instant classic. Interior is garbage Chevy but that's Cadillac for you. Missed opportunity by Cadillac by not offering a V8 on this which would have instantly made it best in class. The V6 Turbo engine is serviceable and the handling is class leading if not the best. I feel so mixed on this car as its really just missing an engine as its one of the best driving sedans I've driven. I prefer the size to the large CT5 V BW
What is the deal with Cadillac and their all black everything interior?????
You have two options of two tone, the sky gray and black which is kind of an off white, and the tan and black two tone.
Doesn't the G70 3.3ltr do 0-60 in 4.7 seconds??
This Ct4 seems slow for the power output 🤔
You are comparing an automatic AWD(or RWD) car to a manual trans RWD car. Magazines with professional drivers have gotten 4.1 or so out of the manual. The auto dips into the high 3's.
@@JamesonsDiecastCars realized that after posting. Thanks
The G70 is really nice ! Unfortunately there is no manual transmission option.
Idk cool car but I used to have an ATS V coupe and the inside was nicer, no fake stitching or injection molded plastic on the doors or dash all leather and Alcantara. Plus the coupe looks way more aggressive. I just feel that this generation was change for the sake of change :\
what a major disappointment 8" inch for real.
Why can't I unmute this?
Cheaper than the Bimmer. Period!! Wait until u get that oil change??😬😬 on that Bimmer
Great looking car. Waaaay too expensive, of course.
Compared to what? It's the LEAST priced car in its performance category compared to the c63 amg and bmw g80 m3.
miss sofyan's oh face from the NSX vid
Hi
Yea it’s a s4 m340 competitor
Good luck finding a ATS V. There's only one available within 100 miles of me.
What crappy interior quality? What are you even talking about, do _you_ even know?
@@cato12 The S4 and M340i would both get absolutely wrecked by this car around a track. This car is every bit as fast as the rwd M3 Competition. Look up VIR lap times of thr cars you mentioned and see for yourself... you're selling the Caddy short.
This car is too famn expensive. GM could sell a lot of cars like this IF they just were more affordable to more people.
AWD and the 10 speed auto is the way to go to have a quicker CT4-V Blackwing.
Overpriced.
heartbreaking that Cadillac is being squandered on EVs
Jeeeez 3900 is lightweight
There you go 8 inches too small for you. Size obsessed with screens. Hmm
Why buy this car when Giulia is similar priced
Gulia has no manual in the US and Umm Alfa reliability. The Gulia is also over $10k more to start.
Nice exterior that ALL black interior is a turn off.
Please test to show the 30mph to 90mph times of EVs because the torque is able to act like a paassing gear.
70,000 USD LOL NO THANK YOU ESPECIALLY FOR A GM.
15 City??? Yikes
M3 > CT4 V
Some good efforts by Cadillac the last decade or so, but Caddy just doesnt have the cachet of the imports. And as its buying demo ages out and a younger demo looks elsewhere, I cant see the brand lasting much longer.
These cars are extremely ugly though
Which is sad, because the 2011 era CTSV was so pretty in sedan, coupe and wagon form
Sometimes you dont need to change your design language...Range Rover, Wrangler and G-Wagon know this.
You yankee doodles are funny 😄
No M3 launches like that. This is definitely a better car.
I'm not a M-3 or BMW fan boy, but I bet even a stock M340i could easily keep up with or surpass the tested road numbers of this vehicle. I think the M3 would run away from this vehicle all day, every day.
An M340i with rear wheel drive is faster than this car...I have no idea what you're talking an M3 launches just as well
The AWD M3 variant is faster 0-60 but the Blackwing is faster on a track. If all you're ever going to do is stop-light rallies, stick to a Tesla or a Mopar with some mods.
@@rdollie1 Better chassis dynamics, better off the line, faster on the track and on road, definitely looks a lot better. The present M3 is just not good enough.
@@ftr911drvr Yeah sure. I don't know what you're on
bmw, bmw who cares
bmw m3 is ugly as hell this car looks 100 times better m3 aren't as good as they use to be but I still think they should have put lt1 v8 in here
ALHAMDULILLAH(SWT). ASTAGHFIRULLAH(SWT).
Interior looks like a mazda
You're goving it more credit than it deserves. It's not as nice as the Mazda... 😅
A Mazda interior in a CX-5 for example, looks better than the interior of this featured CTS.
What's with the "Telegram Winner " replies ? I suspect a scammer.
Too bad GM quality is absolutely horrible. I'd never waste a dime on this. (Not a fan of German cars either) why can't other manufacturer's learn from the Japanese?
Fortunately GM’s quality is just fine. These will last and run much longer than the BMWs, that’s for sure and the resale value will be better too.
It’s come to the point where I have to believe a lack of reliability is part of their business plan. How being built like trash is seen as an advantage is beyond me, but here we are. Another lease only vehicle.
@DOGS LOL Also built like complete trash
@DOGS LOL exactly! Some people are so delusional. They will literally say anything and make up crap out of thin air. Meanwhile BMW, Genesis, Mercedes-Benz, and Volvo products (just to name a few) are in and out of the shop with quality control issues especially when approaching 100,000 miles thanks to cheaply built and over engineered mechanical parts.
Having had both modern BMWs and modern Caddys, since the m3 is the only competition with a manual, the Caddy is much more trusted to own out of warranty.
Wow. Interior looks like all the parts were taken from Chevy! Gross.
