    Everyone calling the movie "propaganda" and saying it "glorifies war" COMPLETELY missed the message of the movie. Yes, it was a story of Chris Kyle the sniper. But it was SO much more than that.

      people are STUPID!!! war movies have been going on in america since day fucking one of movie making!!!!!!!!!!! people like to sit behind a computer and cry about the popular things is all!!! well, the movie isn't fucking going away for these hippy fucks....

      John_Peisithanatos I think you might have missed the movie's message too. It wasn't a "war movie". It had a pretty serious message about soldiers and what they go through and how they deal with that. They return and it takes time to acclimate back into normal life, and it's a terrible struggle. THAT is what this movie is about.

    I loved the movie. Bradley Cooper was perfect for the part; he portrayed Kyle just has Kyle himself was, and he played the part with the utmost respect. Just like the others who are positive on this movie are saying, it's more than just about Kyle's life - it's about what war is really like and the effect it has on soldiers and their personal lives. Fantastic job by everyone in the movie. It is very much deserving of Best Actor for Cooper and Best Picture in the Oscars.

    One of the best movies I have seen. Great movie, sad how much it can change a person. People who are hating on this movie, dont get the fact that it isnt JUST about him. It is about what MILLIONS of veterans go through on a daily and how we are doing nothing for them when they come back, instead we are waiting for them to help themselves. We need to protect the people who protect us. Bradley Cooper was amazing in this movie. Really inspirational, sad, and eye opening. Kudos!

      How exactly does someone protect you by murdering people on another continent?
      It was preemptive war! The movie is full of lies and bullshit! The main character is a psycho and a liar!
      It is really amazing how brainwashed most Americans are..

    • @cierrajanay6612
      @cierrajanay6612 9 років тому +5

      Mark Horp Mark, perhaps you have been living under a rock when you got your information, but terrorists dont come from "nowhere" the ones he killed come from the middle east. The people he killed, were killing their own INNOCENT people and they likely would of tried to cross the ocean and come over here for the exact same purpose. Are you stupid, or just ignorant? Last time I checked, people willing to blow up themselves or kids, have an agenda beyond their own "continent" it is 2015, this isnt a small battle between two countries, this is a war. The middle east brain washes their kids into hating Americans, when the people in America, arent the ones who send their kids and other people to other countries to blow themselves up, all to prove a point. Please... it is disgusting how most foreigners are too blinded by their biased opinion toward America, to see what the hell is actually going on. Also, you should check yourself when you say "Americans" since ISIS has proven, you dont have to be an American to have your head cut off or be burned alive. Wake up.

    • @MarkHorp
      @MarkHorp 9 років тому +1

      cierra janay
      Terrorists do not come from nowhere, that is true. For instance, the CIA is a terrorist organization, that is the first tool, to provide training to create terrorist threats, that will "justify" an invasion from the US.
      ISIS current state is just another proof of this.
      I invite you to read up on shia sunni relations, and over what timeperiods they worked together or against the US.
      When you talk about innocent people, you have to realize that there was a civil war going on in Iraq, and which group you saw as evil in the news, was the one the US did not work with at the moment.
      Some other facts to think about:
      -9/11 had nothing to do with the Iraq war.
      -They found no weapons of mass destruction in Iraq, and it was a preemtive war, an invasion without any valid reason, just like when Nazi germany invaded Poland.
      The middle east does not need to brainwash their kids. The US invaded them and pretty much everyone over there (Iraq)knows someone who have lost a family member because of the invasion. Someone who have been killed by direct or indirect fire.
      But the US govt brainwashes their citizens to see nations as terrorist nations, just to make the population go along with whatever they decide to do. This is a major problem since the Govt is ran by businessmen.

    • @cierrajanay6612
      @cierrajanay6612 9 років тому +2

      Mark Horp Lol you are saying the CIA created ISIS? that is a joke. You make no sense, innocent people are the people who arent on any side, the people who are slaughtered because they live in the middle of a war zone. I am sure you have heard about school kids being killed in the middle east and how ISIS attacked Christians. Just because you believe in a certain God, doesnt mean you are apart of a war, most of those people that got killed and pushed out of their homes, werent even involved with what was going on. A lot of people in the middle east who are against America, dont go to the facts when raising their kids. They make their kids believe America is evil from child birth. I dont know about you, but I have plenty of middle eastern friends who I love, and they even agree with the fact kids there are not raised in good house holds unless their parents were raised well. Hate breeds hate. I was raised to love every culture and I do, but you are saying America is brainwashed, that is hilarious because I am one of the most American people you will meet. The Middle East needs to civilize, bottom line. Throughout the middle eastern history, they have had nothing, but blood shed constantly if people disagree with their ideas or beliefs. Also, do you live in America? most of us hate our own government because they are dumb, there is going to be something huge happen, because people are tired of the government. We are not brainwashed, as much as you foreigners like to ASSUME. I am not saying we are the best country in the world, but we do not have terror cells that behead people and burn them alive. The middle east does and they have had terrorist groups for YEARS, without change. ISIS is a much more violent version of Osamas rat pack. They are like a disease that mutates.

    • @MarkHorp
      @MarkHorp 9 років тому +1

      ISIS is indirectly a product of the funding, arming and training CIA did and the invasion that followed. Now, this might seem far fetched, but if you look at the whole chain of events, that is how ISIS became what it is today.
      So, you are arguing that the middle east should be subdued so that they can have the "American culture" and way of life, because they are barbaric?
      Another little fun fact. USA, since 1776 has had 21 calendar years of peace. That sounds kind of little for a nation that supposedly wants to promote peace and freedom.
      The reality is that the USA economy runs on the warmachine.
      Beheading someone is better than pressing a button. Do you know why? If you are pressing a button, firing a off a drone or artillery, you are so distanced from the killing, that you do not even need a valid reason. And you DO have torture camps. Yes, they always tell you they do not, until another Guantanamo bay camp pops up.
      Unfortunately Americans are VERY brainwashed, as are most western countries, and I come from one. It takes a long time to try to make sense of everything, and it is impossible to understand everything.
      But, invading another country is not defending, even tho people like Hitler, Stalin, Bush and Obama would like you to think so.

    i havent seen it yet but i w2 own it ASAP. while at the theatre to see "Unbroken", this was a preview and after it played, i switched seats with my daughter. i glanced back to see who was sitting behind us, and there was an older man with tears streaming down his face. the next night my brother in law(who is a vet from the first gulf war and now a nurse at a VA hospital) brought over the movie "Lone Survivor". it was as intense and real as i hope "Sniper" is. these movies are showing me things i never dared imagine what our military have been through and what they have to overcome when rejoining us. i dont always agree with what happens, but they have my heart. tears flow when i think of these kinds of movies.

      Debra Mcdonald,
      Had we never went to war with Vietnam, Korea or Iraq we would still have all the same freedoms. The soldiers are not fighting for our freedom. They are fighting to make money for Halliburton, Lockheed and Martin and the oil companies.
      Many of the Scandinavian and European countries have more freedoms than we do. Legalized marijuana, prostitution, gambling, same sex marriage less censorship (nudity).
      You don't see these countries going to war. Even in the wake of Charlie Hebdo France did not go to war. They protect their soil but that is all.
      Why does the USA get involved in so many more wars than Canada? Keep in mind Canada has a lot of freedoms as well. Maybe even more freedoms than most citizens of the USA. I used to live in Detroit and could get Canadian TV Stations. They do not have commercial about joining the armed services to pay for college like the USA. Why do you think that is?
      Why does the USA have such a War like mentality compared to other countries?
      I think after reading what I wrote you will be willing to admit your original comment was very stupid but it is not your fault. You have been fed propaganda all your life. Now you know better.

    The defintion of a Patriot is: a person who vigorously supports their country and is prepared to defend it against enemies or detractors. If someone is attacking you and your country you defend yourself like a patriot would do. not sit back and say it's unjustise. you are either a Patriot of this country or you aren't.

      Patriotism redefined:
      "A man may be a patriot without risking his own life or sacrificing his health. There are plenty of lives less valuable" pg.249 A People's History of the United States. "Military men are dumb, stupid animals to be used as pawns for foreign policy" - Henry Kissinger- pg.97 Kiss the Boys Goodbye. Arguably, the worst sentiments to come out of the mouth of a high ranking gov't official, once thought the most powerful man in Washington.

      who cares about what Bradley Cooper really looks like. He is an actor. He is not going around portraying every role he has played in his movies. He looks different than he did in American Sniper because he was not playing himself, he was playing the role of Chris Kyle. What Bradley Cooper looks like is so unimportant in these posts. who cares. It doesn't matter. we are talking about the great portrayal of Chris Kyle, not what Bradley Cooper looks like. You people are so shallow.

    People who don't appreciate chris and view him with respect do not understand the underlying dynamics of combat. I'm not in the military but I have read so many accounts that I can at least have an empathetic view of the complex and horrendous underlay of war. War is not perfect but it is the reality of our situation and chris saved lives no matter what way you look at it. Most of his killings were of savages who would love to destroy America to pieces. RIP Chris.

    I love war movies. I love the messages behind them. War movies are my favorite type. I don't care what other people say if it is said that it glorifies war. War is needed in some cases. People have gotten soft toward war. Back then we cheered on our troops and congratulated them when they returned him when they were at war. people are little kids who want every thing PG. I couldn't care less. War changes things to a certain extent.

    obviously none of these news reporters read the book and would have realized a lot of the stuff in the movie never even happened and didn't tell Chris Kyle's real story. Granted the movie was to tell the struggle of coming home and what happens to a lot of combat veterans, but hollywood yet again didn't tell the full story of an American hero.

  • @domakent

    So much that was in the movie was inconsistent with reality (the main one being the implied September eleventh/Iraq War connection. But more than that, so much in the movie is inconsistent with things that Chris Kyle actually wrote in his own book. For example, the film portrays a remorseful soldier who feels is burdened by his kills, this is counter to the things Kyle said himself; "I'm not lying or exaggerating to say it was fun, I had the time of my life being a SEAL"

    I have been trying to find more conversations/ discussions about Routh and have not been able to find anything about him. Just wanted to put this out there for some of you to think about. PTSD is being claimed, but this guy was a noncombat reservist. I know PTSD doesn't have to stem from combat but that is what he is claiming. I would like to get more views on this good, bad, or indifferent.

      Routh was an armorer and a reservist. Don't get it mixed thinking going to Iraq makes you a combat veteran. You are correct that he was mentally gone. I am just saying so many people are calling PTSD for anything when they did absolutely nothing. He should have been in a hospital, but not for PTSD.
