      @scheisstag 3 роки тому +18

      @Macwebb msk Why do you want her to use an euphemism? In the end it is what it is (as Trump would put it.) As a soldier you kill people.
      And please dont give me crap like: "This is not killing. Its defending your country." Nobody defends his motherland 20 000 km abroad.

    • @scheisstag
      @scheisstag 3 роки тому +8

      @Macwebb msk See: I think you cant only blame the politicians. You are always responsible for your choices yourself. And you dont protect your country 20 000 km away from your country and after starting the war (in both cases: Afghanistan and Iraq as well). And after reading his book you realize: Chris Kyle enjoyed killing and did it mostly because he liked the way people started to honor him after his kill "records".
      And the interesting fact is: His records did him in in the end. Most people think he was shot by a mental unstable guy who had PTSD. Which is not wrong. But people often shoot others for their importance. Please see the attempted assassination of Reagan. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Attempted_assassination_of_Ronald_Reagan#:~:text=On%20March%2030%2C%201981%2C%20United,at%20the%20Washington%20Hilton%20Hotel. I guess, he would not have been shot if he would not have been THE famous Chris Kyle. So in the end he died because someone got so used to killing, that he couldnt stop it, even after the war ended. And he got killed because of the killing "record" he was so proud of. Is this Karma? Ironic? You decide....

    • @scheisstag
      @scheisstag 3 роки тому +5

      @Macwebb msk I would say: if you feel guilty for something you have done, than you dont volunteer to make it public. He wrote a book, sold his story to a movie maker and made this and hundred other interviews. Plus: he didnt gave any afford to distance himself. So I wouldnt say he is not proud.
      And why do you say: "I truly thank you for their services." ?
      If you acknowledge, that a) it was wrong for the US to invade a foreign country, Afghanistan.
      I mean: why are you not thanking the Afghan Taliban for their service, for defending their country? It would make more sense in my opinion, than to thank an aggressor. Is it because the US have a more similar culture to Japan?
      And b) that it is basically wrong to kill people and that no matter what the politicians decide: in the end its the individual that pulls the trigger and which stays at least partially responsible.
      Cheers from Germany and thank you for sharing your thoughts!

      Not asking that question is more of a courtesy thing. With him, it was OK. But the thing is, you don't know how people feel about it. Kyle was OK with it. But some vets who have killed, are not OK. They may have a hard time dealing with it and do not want to talk about it to anyone. Its just a courtesy thing.

    I'm here because I finally watched "American Sniper". The problem I have with this interview is the judgemental tone of this reporter. Have some respect...for what he's been through, what he's seen, and what he had to do. Whether she agreed with his doings or not, he did his job as a Navy SEAL for his country in his eyes. Mr. Kyle answered with a lot of grace.

    • @hkhilner
      @hkhilner 8 місяців тому

      Clint Eastwood’s version of “American Sniper” was a Hollywood production. The screenplay by Jason Hall mixed half truths with fiction. The scene where the “Hollywood Chris Kyle” looks through his scope at the young boy and says, “Don’t pick it up” was fictional.
      It was not Clint Eastwood’s or Warner Brothers’ intent to make a film that was historically accurate. It was their job to make a film that would sell a lot of movie tickets. The “Hollywood Chris Kyle” played by Bradley Cooper needed to be “sanitized’ for the big screen. There was no mention of Chris Kyle’s web of fabricated stories.
      There are people who thought the “Rambo” and “Top Gun” films were real…. as well as James Cameron’s “Titanic”. Some people can’t distinguish Hollywood productions from reality.

He was simply doing whatever he needed to do to protect his comrades and applying selective humanity. That was his job. Unfortunately US foreign policy was very destructive not only to the countries it invaded, but it put regular American's in the crosshairs of harm. American's who believed they were doing what was in their countries interest and their interest.
    Most soldier's are just young people seeking purpose in life who are exploited into doing the muddy work that the controlling elites themselves would never do - so that the 1% can live comfortably.

He lied about shooting looters from the top of the Superdome after Katrina. He lied about getting into a shootout at a gas station. He lied about knocking Jesse Ventura out at a bar after Jesse allegedly said "you guys deserved to lose some guys", which he referenced in the book but left Ventura unnamed, but later said it was Ventura on Opie and Anthony. Ventura sued him and a jury determined it was a lie. Did he serve his country faithfully.....I have no reason to doubt that. Did he get out of the Navy and lie about shit to make money and become a celebrity? Yes, based on what I know, he did. He lied on an older SEAL with name recognition to help sell his book. I can’t imagine reading that book and not asking questions about his obviously false claims. He didn’t murder Americans from the top of the Dome. He didn’t shoot and kill two car jackers in Texas, etc.

    Some people in the comments are saying this woman was asking bad questions and intentionally trying to make Chris look bad. I didnt get that feeling honestly. I mean she asked questions about killing and all that but thats a big part of war lol and Chris is known for being a badass sniper with 160+ kills. Idk i just dont think she was as disrespectful as some are saying. Its a sensitive topic though thats for sure.

    She’s annoying . Kept calling him a killer . He’s not , was not a killer . He’s a trained professional sniper doing his job and duty . A killer is somebody killing civilians . He was in combat killing other combatants or soldiers . Not a killer in my eyes. Nobody calls a normal soldier a killer so why brand him and other snipers with that negative name. He did his job and did it well. Don’t ask the guy to explain himself . He has no need to . RIP Chris .

      kffive The oath taken doesn't necessarily have anything to do with where the powers that be send those who take the oath. The Bush administration spent American servicepeople's lives horribly recklessly for no good or lasting reason. Besides, if America really was all about freedom and justice and protecting those who can't protect themselves, we'd have gotten involved in the situation in Mexico years ago.

    • @Giagantus
      @Giagantus 9 років тому +2

      kffive LOL you make alot ASSumptions. Regardless of you don't have freedom because of him or others. The US hasn't fought for its freedom since WWII. Every other war has been BS. You do know that Vietnam was fought on a known lie (the Incident in bay of Tonkin was a lie). Same thing with Iraq and to a lesser degree Afghanistan (the Taliban could have given up ObL.
      Soldiers today fight for big buisness and it's sad as fuck. But since they have wrapped the cause in BS alot of people actually think the fight for freedom. LOL US has the biggest amount of people in jail (per capita as well in sheer numbers) all due to bug buisness (private prisons). And you speak of freedom. The consitution is great, really it is. But they US is a dream and until people wake up it will always be a dream.
