Fantastic video! I have the same mower and my recoil cord is slack and wouldn't tighten properly after pulling the cord. I don't need a new cord but this video should help me to re-install my existing cord! this will be my Monday morning job before I get started mowing my lawn tomorrow. Thanks Ken!
Update: from yesterday: today is Monday and I am happy to report my mower recoil is fixed and the mower is running again! The cord was a very stiff (almost stiff like leather) material to begin with and I was able to counter tread it instead (the other way around unlike in your video) because of it. Thanks for making my day! Perhaps you can make a video on how to do minor repairs/ maintenance tips on this mower sometime in the future??
Thank you sir !! You are a lifesaver!! Had the day of today cleaned my truck and decided the lawn boy I got for free needed a little tlc . The chord handle was broken but man the way you described the video you made it so easy !! God bless you !! And happy new year
An excellent video of sharing all the tips and step-by-step. Pointed out it would be a time consuming job, kept my spirit up for hours. Even my Lawnboy model was slight different, it got a little different configuration. After 2 hours play with the pull cord with the hole, I had replaced the cord. You are a "Life Saver". Will follow you in UA-cam from now on! Thanks!
Thank you!! Very helpful video. For fishing the new cord through the two holes on the starter, I followed your directions, but then carefully used a toothpick to fish the new cord through the second hole, just in case someone doesn’t have electrical wire!
Thank you so much! My cord had completely broke off inside my lawnboy mower and your video showed me exactly how to fix it. Awesome-now I can finish mowing my backyard :)
Thanks, I wondered how to replace the pull rope and T-handle on my old Lawn-boy, now I know. That old Lawn-boy is much better then the new Lawn-boy I bought. They don't make them like they use to, light weight frame and all.
Let's just say I'm not good with my hands.. I now know what a ratchet and nut driver are.. thanks for going into the fine details, a few of us really need you to go that far.. lol
have you had to work on the self propel unit for this mower? I own this model. My left wheel doesn't pull as hard as the right wheel. It's a good mower, bought it used. It didn't have the bag attachment, though.
Yeah I was trying to do the same thing and this video 📹 halpet me to put my starter rope on my lawn boy push mower know my leaf blower won't start I need help with it
@ken Training I have the exact same model Lawn-Boy.... What is the manufacturer name of that engine??? I'm getting ready to fix mine now. I might do just the same procedure you did, or buy the whole recoil for 7 bucks more? Super GR8 video & thanks for sharing Sir.... 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
I loved the video. U saved me some $$! THANK YOU! I do have one question, I'm hoping u can answer. Am I able to lube the clockspring in the recoil? Mine retracts kinda wonky.
Droping a thank you for the tips that made a smooth replacement. She's up and running again!

My Lawn Mower and motor was the same as in this video - thanks followed your steps - works perfect now!
Just a tip. Just finished doing this. I used a small paperclip to thread the line through the hole. Very helpful video. 👍

Nice video. Super simple, but I'd have floundered without watching first. Thanks!
I have the same mower. The cord is still good but I saved your excellent video for future use. Thanks for posting this how to.
Ken, Thank you for the video. I'm going outside right now to either re-attach or replace my pull cord, having learned from your video. LR
Just what I needed to fix my Lawnboy!
A sharpie marker always works well to mark the hole locations prior to disassembling. Thanks for sharing the video.

yep, very helpful even a year or so later. by the way... it's taut, not taunt. unless of course you're trying to harass the cord.

Giant pain In rear Amazon has the whole unit for 11 bucks save yourself some time and just order it lol
